Hello CVS friends. I am still crushing on the beautiful Storyteller collection! I love its versatility and that it works with most scrapbooking themes. Today I am sharing a layout of my middle boy and I.
I have used a free cut file by Paige Evans, love this heart so much. The striped paper is perfect to fill these hearts as you get the multi coloured effect. Once I had paper pieced the heart cut file I placed my photo so I could my way from there.
I used the heart paper from the A5 paper stack and added with foam tape. Next I used a chipboard floral bunch from the chipboard sticker sheet and tucked under the left side of my photo. I chose a sentiment phrase die cut from the die cut ephemera pack and directly under my photo with foam tape. To finish off I added a camera die cut and added a die cut button to the lens.
I used the chipboard title and added to the right of my photo slightly over the hearts cut file. To keep to the rule of three I added a butterfly wood epoxy button and two black foam hearts from the foam title stickers.
To add visual interest I added a chipboard banner and tucked a small floral die cut under it and then added a die cut button with foam tape.
This layout is simple but colourful! With these colours it makes it super easy to add coloured photos.
As always thanks for stopping by and see you again soon! Happy scrapping.
Hey y’all! Laura Alberts back again with a fun layout of my son’s university tour! I thought the colors in these photos were perfect for Storyteller and they worked really well together. I chose a column design because I had two landscape 3×4 photos and 1 portrait 3×4 photo. I find splitting up the two formats a little easier to scrap. The left-hand column has 4 journaling cards stacked one right after another, 2 to back my photos and 2 for journaling spots.
A multi-layered strip down the center gives the two columns defined areas and gives me a place for a little extra embellishing in the middle. I especially love these wood buttons with the epoxy in the middle! Such a fun way to add more dimension and texture to the page. On top and bottom of that button are round puffy stickers, then a few Nuvo drops for interest. At the bottom of this page, I collaged stickers and ephemera to make an embellishment cluster.
On the right side of the page, I combined this fun journaling card and my portrait photo for a mini-layout within a layout! This half of a frame tucked behind my photo reminded me of some of the architecture at the university and also created a landing place to build my cluster of embellishments on top of too. All in all, I used five journaling cards on this layout.
I hope this layout gives you inspiration for using your journaling cards on a layout to create a grid or just to add a little extra color! Be sure to check out the process video below to see how “The Best Story” came together!
Hello everyone! It’s Anna here and today I will surprise you with my project, as I didn’t make another layout! I know! How unusual of me :) I recently watched live where fellow scrapbooker was showing how to make gatefold cards and I wanted to try making one or two. Even after so many years in crafty world I still have so many things to learn. Cards are my weak point for sure as I do not make them often. However, they are great little projects to try out new products or just play when the mojo is low. I reached for my well loved “Storyteller” collection to make my cards.
At first they look like a normal, rectangular cards but magic happens when you remove the belly band. Sides of the card unfold, revealing the inner part. You can make classical version with two rectangles on the front, or use your shape dies to make a window! This is exactly what I did here. Each card has a different shape used for the front panel – circle and heart. It’s important that the shape you use for the opening is symmetrical when you fold it in half.
I used colorful cardstock for my card bases in red and dusty pink colors. “Storyteller” collection is so colorful that you can easily match some cardstock to it. With the pink card, I left the cardstock visible adding only a small, navy circle around the opening cut out with A5 Paper Stack patter paper. Red card has a cute hearts patter paper in the front called “Oh my heart“. I matches the “i love you” phrase perfectly.
Gatefold cards like to open up themselves so it’s good to add some sort of belly band to keep them closed and flat. My red card has a band made with pattern paper and embellished with bits and pieces from Ephemera Pack. Pink one is closed with just a piece of acetate as I didn’t want to cover the composition. Inside of the card, visible in the window, is decorated with Foam Title Stickers. Each card got a different inscription. You can also use stamps inside or replace words with flowers or some other graphic.
Front covers of my cards are decorated with flowers from Floral Ephemera pack – one of my most belowed products in every CVS collection! They are so versatile and easy to use! I also added few butterflies from Ephemera Pack (I trimmed the white outline with my scissors) and super cute Puffy Stickers – hearts and dots. The best feature of gatefold cards is that you can showcase them on the shelf easily as they stand alone.
They are so easy to make when you learn the process and they look stunning. You can easily make a christmas version and I will probably try to create few. And how do you like them? Have you tried this card form before? You can find plenty of tutorials on YouTube for them. Just tyle gatefold card tutorial and many variations will show up.
That is all for today! Thank you so much for stopping by and see in in December! Can you believe it’s only month until christmas?
Hello crafty Friends. For the couple of days we will be focusing on combining old and new CVS collections as an inspiration for you and here is what I have come up witth. The newest Cocoa Vanilla line is beautiful “Storyteller”, which I am sure you are already familiar with. It’s saturated colors and very versatile theme are perfect for all sorts of projects. I was thinking of other collection that has similar color palette and “Hello sunshine” was the first one that came in my mind. It’s probably because I am a big fun of all summer themed lines :). They are always so colorful and fun. Combining “Storyteller” and “Hello sunshine” is the perfect idea as I am running really low on papers from the old line and as they are no longer in stock, I am stuck with leftovers only. Every new collection that shares similar vibe is a chance for me use up those leftovers and let this well loved line shine once again.
As I mentioned before, I am running low on pattern papers from “Hello sunshine” collection. But who can blame me? They were fantastic. That’s why I am more than happy to use this pattern “Brighter days” with colorful stripes from “Storyteller” line as a base of my project. It’s quite bold but with a cluster of four pictures it was toned down a bit. With blue nad navy on the bottom it kind of looks like landscape during the sunset. This page is about enjoying the lake so I decided to use this pattern this way exactly.
Next step was to add my photos. They are all the same size and they take a lot of background space. I glued them down in the middle of my background leaving a little bit of space on the left and right for some embellishing and on the top and the bottom for my title. We had so much fun renting water bike during our last vacation in French Jura and swimming around the lake. Kids were jumping to the crystal clear water, we were taking turns with pedaling – it was such a fantastic, family time, worth a whole page.
After using “Storyteller” paper as a layout base, it was time to embellish it with some bits and pieces from “Hello sunshine”. I have a digital version of this line but I was too lazy to print anything so I focused of whatever I have left in the ephemera pack. I also fussy cut some flowers from one of the papers. I arranged those bits and pieces on both sides of the photos adding few stickers from 6*12 sticker sheet.
With all the embellishing done, I was ready to add a title. Once again I reached for my everlasting pile of alpha stickers, that once were part of CVS collections. I used two different colors – yellow on the bottom as it contrasted well with navy and navy on the top as it contrasted orange better. I am running out of some letters so I needed to make E from an F. It’s totally possible and I do that a lot. If you need more tips or missing alpha latters here they are. Use V turned upside down as an A (just add a piece of other unsed letter in the middle), turn F into E with an estra strip of other sticker. Cut a piece of T, turn it upside down and make L of it. If you need Y, take X and cut out on the the bottom “arms”. Turn G into C by trimming part of it. Use W instead of M or the other way around.
After adding the title, I circled back to my “Storyteller” embellishments and added few puffy hearts here and there and three epoxy buttons. They look like taken from the same line! I just love those lucky coincidences!
That it all for today my Friends. Thank you so much for staying with me through the whole post. Don’t forget to come back to see what collections other DT girls will me “marrying together”. See you in two weeks.
Today I’m sharing a page using the new ‘Storyteller’ collection with a focus on florals.
I decided I wanted to divide my page into thirds, using blue, yellow and red as the focus for each section. To start my page, I used a strip of white cardstock to stamp florals using my distress oxides..the red is Candied Apple, the blue is Faded Jeans and the yellow is Fossilized Amber.
I chose 3 of our wedding photos and printed them in black and white so they didnt compete with my colours. I wanted to have something to pop out from behind my photos, so I used some gauze that I coloured with the same inks…this adds a nice texture to the page.
Next, I went through all the embellishments..the ephemera pack, the chipboard, accessory stickers, wooden buttons and puffy hearts and pulled out all the colours that matched and icons that would work…making sure I used florals in each cluster.
While going through my collection I also found a yellow and blue stitched heart from previous page so I included these as well..
For my title, I used the Foam Title Stickers, placing one word on each line of the page… including some of the black foam hearts…perfect for a wedding page right?!
I hope you found some inspiration today and enjoy CVS florals as much as I do!
Mandy here with you today to share another layout using the amazing Storyteller collection! For today’s layout I chose to document a few photos from my recent birthday. We went out for brekkie in the morning, which is one of my favourite things to do. It was the perfect way to start the day, and even though we didn’t end up being able to go the beach like we’d planned because it rained, I had such an amazing day. The Storyteller collection was perfect for scrapbooking these happy snaps taken of me with family while we were out to brekkie.
I started this layout off by trimming down a sheet of white cardstock and matting it on the green Fly Away paper. I then printed my three 3×4 inch photos and arranged them into a photo strip. I layered multiple patterned paper, mostly from the A5 Paper Stack, behind the photos to create a bright and colourful photo mat.
I love fussy cutting the beautiful floral clusters on the Spring Fling paper to embellish my layouts with. Here you can see that I added one of these floral clusters to the right of the photo strip. I adhered just the centre of the flowers to the page, allowing the leaves and springs to lift off the page to create some movement and interest.
I added another fussy cut floral cluster to the left of the photos. This one I adhered with foam tape and overlapped it over the edge of the photos. I also added a wood epoxy button to the centre of the larger flower in the cluster. I love the texture and dimension that this adds to the page.
Lastly I added my title and journaling. I couldn’t go past using the amazing Foam Title Stickers for my title. There are so many great words and phrases in this pack, and I settled on using the phrase ‘This makes me Smile’. It was the perfect sentiment for these photos. I typed my journaling on my typewriter and added the journaling strips under the title.
I finished the layout off by adding a few die cut butterflies and a sprinkling of puffy heart stickers to the page.
Thanks so much for joining me here on the blog today! I hope that you enjoyed taking a look at my layout and found some inspiration.
Hey y’all! Laura Alberts back again with the Storyteller collection! These sweet photos of my puppy were perfect for a heart-filled layout I opted for a fairly simple vertical background with three of the stunning patterned papers in this collection: Oh My Heart, Little Love, and Ditsy Daisy. Layering a lovely paper doily behind my main 4×4 inch photo, then matting with paper from the A5 paper stack gave these photos a real pop on the page!
Underneath of the main photo, I placed a couple of banners from the icon ephemera pack to add a little movement on the page and guide your eye to the small 2×2 photos on the left. Around each of these photos, I added small word phrases and fussy cut florals for extra detailing. The title is from the foam words pack that accompanies this collection and nestled in beautifully around my photos.
For a little extra whimsy on this page, I added butterflies that I fussy cut from the 12×12 and A5 version of the Fly Away patterned paper. Fussy cutting out little details like these add such a special touch to a layout. Along with tucking a small cut apart piece from the A5 paper stack next to my photos, I added a sweet little cluster at the top, center and bottom of my cluster.
I hope this layout inspires you to have a play with clustering your photos together or adding clusters around your photos! To see how “You Are So Cute” came together, see the process video below!
Hello everyone. It’s Anna here and today I have a page for you created for a monthly theme: “Spring or fall”. I am so envy of all you Aussie girls for your current spring season. It saddly means we are slowly entering winter on the northern hemisphere (I know it’s still two months but it always feels like fall, winter and spring are combined into months months period and summer is here for like only two months). That’s why my choice of the season is quite obvious and I made a fall page. I even had a brand new photos of my girls taken in the nearby forest! I am still playing with the “Storyteller” line, that is so versatile that I could easily make a fall page with it.
I had this idea in my head to create a tree branches with some colorful leaves on them, framing my photos. And this is how this page started. Paper called “Cross it off” with wooden pattern was just perfect to hand cut my oak branches. I simply sketched the shape and used my scissors but you can also use your digital die cutting machine, if you do not trust your sketching skills. Next step was to die cut bunch of leaves in “fall” colors using patterns papers from A5 Paper Stack mostly. I focused on yellow, pink and dark green shades.
Next step was to find a proper background. I tried all the “Storyteller” 12*12 patterns but my leaves kept blending in too much. Here is where simple mixed media techniques and sheet of white cardstock come very handy. I picked a greyish blue shade of ink and simply blended it into my background. I wasn’t trying to apply the color evenly to make the illusion of clouds on the sky. I also splashed everything with drops of water for even more texture. I was really happy with how the background made the branches with leaves pop.
When the oak braches were glued down to their assigned spots, I started adding leaves applying glue only in the middle part and bending the edges a bit. It gave some needed texture and illusion of movement to the layout. In the gap between the branches I glued down my two photos. I backed them with pattern papers from A5 Paper Stack as I like when each picture has a frame of color around it. Decorating the composition with ephemera pieces and cardboard stickers was the final step of my process.
My title is a mix of foam title stickers from “These days” collection and some black alpha stickers from my stash. I had so much fun making this page. I just love the moments when idea in my head can be so smoothly and easly transfered to the paper. Because believe me – it doesn’t always work this way :)
I hope you like my idea too. It can be easily used for a spring page, where you would use like apple or cherry blossoms and young leaves on the branches and more blue color of the ink for the sky! Maybe you will scraplift it this way? Maybe I will scraplift myself for some future post :)
Thank you so much for spending your time with me and I hope you found some food for your soul here.
Hello CVS crafty friends! I have another spring themed layout to share this month. This time it is all about Paris in Spring featuring a photo of my daughter strolling in Paris. I have use the beautiful Storyteller collection.
I found a pretty floral frame cut file from the Silhouette Design store. I cut the floral piece using Little Love paper and paper backed them using Ditsy Daisy paper. I next added a bright blue water colour wash to my white card stock base. I then added the floral frame. I added some floral sprigs and leaves from the Floral diecut ephemera pack.
I next added my title. I used a mix of the Foam Title stickers and Accessory Sticker sheet. I then added a die cut camera and die cut butterflies, which I added with foam tape.
I added my 6×4 inch landscape photo which I matted on a blue paper piece from the A5 paper pad. I love the quote ‘the story behind the photo’ and the size perfect to fit under my photo with foam tape. I added one of the phrase sentiment die cuts to the top of my photo ‘love this’.
I went back and added centres to the floral die cut, some I cut from paper and others I added Wood EpoxyButtons which adds dimension.
I love the mix of blue and yellow and with small pops of other colours and use of a small floral print finished of with a black title, so eye catching. Definitely Spring vibes here!
Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you all have a wonderful week with lots of time to create!
It’s Sophie here and I have a new layout to share! I used the Storyteller collection for this autumnal page of my children and doggies going to the pumpkin patch!
I used a thick white cardstock for my background and teared a few different patterned papers to ground my photo. I printed the photo in black and white, mounted it on tissue paper and foam adhesive, and centered it on my page.
My title is from the beautiful Foam Title Stickers.
I created a little pumpkin with a few papers from the A5 paper stack and machine stitched on it for more texture.
I handwrote my journaling, embellished around the photo with fussy cut flowers and die cuts from the Floral Ephemera pack, placed a few stickers from the Accessory Stickers and added white Nuvo Drops as the finishing touch.
