It’s Sophie on the blog today with a new page to share!
I went for another Holiday layout as we seriously approach Christmas Day!!
I used the Merry & Bright collection and a white cardstock as my background.
I backed the photo with a beautiful diagonal stiped paper and placed a Pocket Card right next to it that serves both as my title and journaling.
I created a cluster of die cut Christmas trees all around it, with fussy cut flowers, a few ephemeras and a beautiful Flair Button from the collection.
I also added three Christmas ornaments and a label to stamp the date.
Here are more close-ups:
I love the result, and hope you do too!
Enjoy your Christmas holiday, I will see you again with a new layout in 2024 !!
Hello Hello! It’s Michelle here today with a new layout share for you all. I’ve continued on with my Christmas crafting in January using the Merry & Bright Collection and a bunch of fun and oh so flattering photos from Christmas Eve and Christmas Morning.
I based this layout off one that I made a few years back that grouped photos together over a chunk of pattern paper with a big floral cluster underneath. This was a fun layout to recreate, even with the cringeworthy photos I chose.
All papers used are from the Merry & Bright Collection with a mix of both 12×12 and A5 papers used. Jingle all the Way was the paper of choice to use behind all the photos, combined with a strip of Happy Holidays to use as a base for the title.
I added a massive cluster of florals under the title banner using the wreath design from the HappyHolidays paper along with a mix of ephemera and fussy cut florals from the A5 version of Joy to the World.
Different forms of adhesive used for this cluster to achieve dimension of all kinds.
I used my all time favourite whitealphas for the title, with a pop of machine stitching to keep them in place for years to come.
I added more fussy cut florals around the page and tucked in ephemera pieces, accessorystickers and even layered in a couple of old school doilies within the photo groups. Also, please excuse the hot mess shown above, we were having a little too much fun with the photo booth set up haha
Even the sweet doggo’s made an appearance in this layout.
The papers used to back the photos all came from scraps I had left from past projects, with the addition of some vellum behind a couple.
Here’s a final look at the entire layout, splattered with gold ink to finish it off.
Well thats all from me today, thanks so much for stopping by.
Hello CVS fans and welcome to my first post for 2023!
Over the past few weeks I did a little Christmas scrapping and pulled out the ‘Merry and Bright’ collection which I still have a decent amount of in my stash. I love the pop of pink in this collection which doesn’t make it so ‘traditional.’ Here is a look at my page..
To start my page, I used this cut file from Paige Evans, and backed it with a bunch of the patterned papers, also using some gold glitter paper…..to me, gold screams Christmas and I love it! I think this cutfile was perfect for this photo of my twins and their elf.
Around my photo, I used some Ephemera pieces and tucked some florals in my cutfile… layers make my heart happy.
To add some separation between the cutfile and the star background paper, I added some distress oxide… I like the glow this provides to my page. I then added some of the word phrases from the Accessory sticker sheet under my photo.
I hope if you have this collection in your stash that you have been inspired to pull it out…or even the Joyful collection…another gorgeous collection.
Hope your 2023 is off to a good start..thanks for stopping by
It’s Tarrah back today to share a new scrapbook layout featuring the gorgeous Merry and Bright collection!
I just love creating Christmas layouts, what about you? I still have lots of the Merry and Bright collection and I also love to stash bust so I really enjoyed creating this layout!
I started by choosing my background paper – opting for the Star Bright paper. I then cut out a cut file from white cardstock. The cut file is from CUT to YOU and is called Stars Squared. Once the cut file was cut out, I struggled with the placement and design of my page so I cut up the cut file into separate pieces so I could place pieces of it where I wanted to. Do you ever do this? I do this a lot if I am struggling to like how a cut file looks on my page. There are no rules to say you have to use a cut file the way it was intended!
I backed all the stars of the cut file with papers from the Merry and Bright A5 paper stack, once it was all backed, I then placed foam adhesive to the underside of the cut file and adhered the cut file to the ‘Star Bright’ paper.
The photo I am documenting today was taken just this last Christmas of my 2 sons and my 2 beautiful nieces! My nieces were able to be here from England for this Christmas! It was wonderful to have them and it was the first Christmas we have had together with them! A very special memory to document. I layered one of the pocket cards and a cardstock frame from the ephemera pack under the photo and adhered it overlapping the cut file, in the centre of my layout. I also stapled a banner sticker from the accessory sticker sheet to the top left corner of the photo. My title is made up of a phrase sticker from the accessory sticker sheetoverlapping the word ‘Joy’ fussy cut out from the Season’s Greeting paper. It certainly was Christmas Morning Joy in our household!
To the left of the photo I also placed the Ho Ho Ho die-cut from the ephemera pack, a gorgeous flair button, a phrase sticker and a gold puffy star. In the top left I also placed that super cute Santa face die-cut from the ephemera pack and to balance that with the bottom right corner, I placed the sleigh, also from the ephemera pack.
To finish my layout, I added a few smaller embellishments like small die-cuts, stickers, another gold puffy star and completely finished the page with stamping the date stamp and sprinkling some gold Heidi shine. Once I had finished my layout, I then auditioned some papers to go behind the Star Bright one to act as a ‘frame’. I decided on the ‘B’ side of the ‘Joy to the World’ paper. I trimmed down the ‘Star Bright’ paper and adhered it to the ‘Joy to the World’ paper.
Thank you so much for stopping by the Cocoa Vanilla blog today! I hope you enjoyed reading about how I created my layout as much as I enjoyed creating it.
Do you have the Merry & Bright collection? I encourage you to pull it out and create some pretty things with it!
It’s Tarrah McLean back with you and today I am sharing a Christmas themed scrapbook layout with you featuring the gorgeous Merry and Bright collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio. Do you like scrapbooking Christmas? I absolutely love it and would scrapbook using Christmas collections all year if I could!
I started my layout with a white cardstock base and decided to document a Snapchat photo of myself taken last Christmas Day, it goes perfectly with the Merry & Bright collection. I pulled out one of the frames from the ephemera pack and adhered it to my photo, I then added craft foam to the underneath of the photo. Before I adhered the photo to the white cardstock, I trimmed a piece of the woodgrain paper from the A5 paper stackand layered and adhered it underneath the photo, adhering the photo down on top.
I built my entire layout around the photo in the centre, choosing to leave lots of white space on this page. I tucked in some florals from the ephemera packon either side of the photo, bending the edges of the leaves and flowers to create some shadows on my page. On top of the floral cluster on the right, I adhered a gorgeous flair button on top and also added a heart from the ephemera packalso. Above the photo, I adhered the ‘Merry’ tab and from the accessory stickers, I placed the banner with the star in the top right of my photo.
At the bottom of my photo, I placed the ‘Merry Christmas’ sticker from the accessory sticker sheet and this became my title for the page also. I also placed the rectangle journal spot sticker under the title sticker. Once I was happy with the centre cluster that is the main focus of my layout, I started to add some details to the top and bottom of the page. I cut out a strip of the pink, red and white stripe paper for both the top and bottom, I also scalloped the edge of a piece of the green check paper and adhered that piece at the top. I added some ephemera pieces, a banner sticker and one of the gorgeous gold stars also.
On the bottom edge, I added some more ephemera pieces and another gorgeous gold star also. Some of the smaller and last details I added were the small phrase stickers, the date stamp and splattered some gold Heidi Shine around my page also. I love how the gold Heidi shine looks against the white and also how some of it has landed on the holly leaves as well. Once I was happy with my final layout on the white cardstock, I then trimmed down the white cardstock and adhered it to the coral 12′ x 12′ patterned paper from the collection.
Thank you so much for stopping by the Cocoa Vanilla blog today! I hope you enjoyed reading about how I created my layout as much as I enjoyed creating it.
Do you have the Merry & Bright collection? I encourage you to pull it out and create some pretty things with it!
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe, happy and healthy new year.
Sophie here and this week is a “Scraplift yourself” challenge week!
Let me tell you, this was fun!!!
I chose a previous layout of mine as a base for inspiring me for my actual page.
First: Here is my inspiration page. It’s a layout created with the beautiful DayDream collection a year and a half ago:
And here is what I came up to:
I love the rectangle over a 12×12 paper, the frames, and the big floral cluster around the photo, and these things were my starting point for my new page.
I cut a rectangle on white cardstock, backed it with the Count Down patterned paper, stitched around it and placed it on the beautiful diagonal striped Jingle All The Way paper.
For my journaling, instead of handwriting it, I preferred to print it on velum paper, and placed the velum sheet on the white cardstock of the page.
I placed a wreath, another circular embellishment and frames under my black and white photo, which is on the left bottom part of the page, just like on my inspiration page.
I created a floral cluster on the bottom left corner of the photo, and another one on the top right side of the page, mimicking again the first layout.
I decided to stamp my title with alphabet stamps from my stash on white cardstock. I fussy cut each letter and added foam adhesive behind them before adhering them to the page.
Finally, I stamped the date on a sticker label, and added a few sequins from my stash as the finishing touch.
Here are a few more close-ups:
The basic design of the two layouts is the same, but I find that the end-result is completely different! That’s what I love about scraplifting. It gives you a starting point, but you always end-up with a completely different and fresh new page.
Hi everyone, it’s Sue Plumb here today to share some Throwback Thursday inspiration with you. Throwback Thursday is the feature where our design team members take an older collection and create something new with it. For my project I decided to pull out a collection that wasn’t too far back, but it was one that I didn’t get the chance to create a lot of projects with – ‘Merry and Bright’. Now for those who know me, you might be falling over in shock, because I am not known as a big fan of scrapping Christmas layouts, but I had this hilarious photo of my boys with Santa from 2019 that I just had to document.
For this layout, I decided to create a mixed media page, so I started with white cardstock, acrylic paint and some Distress Oxides. I first used a wide paint brush to brush the diluted green Distress Oxide across the page, then used a rubber brayer to apply pink paint to the lower half of the page. Next, I added some stencilling using a star stencil, sponge dauber and a coral coloured oxide; then topped my background off with some stamping using a star background stamp and grey ink.
After the background was complete I mounted it onto the wood grain print of the Season’s Greetings paper, then started building the papery layers on my page. I cut and tore pieces of the Star Bright and Countdown papers, as well as the diagonal pink/red stripe paper from the A5 Paper Stack. I used my fingernail to ruffle up the torn edges to add extra texture.
I layered my paper pieces together, adding a grey doily from my stash and some frayed gauze for even more texture, and then secured the stack together with staples before adding my photo on top.
To embellish my page I focused on creating 3 main clusters. The first was in the top left hand corner of my photo, where I had a spot on the photo that had to be covered up anyway. I did this by using a couple of stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet and just sticking them directly onto the photo. This cluster also featured a pair of sweet little houses and flower from the Die Cut Ephemera pack and one of the Puffy Gold Stars.
The second cluster was along the bottom edge of my photo and I again used die cuts and a gold star, plus some phrase stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet.
The third cluster to the right of my photo was where I included my journalling, which I typed onto one of the coordinating Pocket Cards. I also added a small die cut sprig of holly; another gold star and a handmade arrow embellishment.
I finished my layout off with some gold adhesive pearls and some splatters of gold mist.
If you would like to see how this page came together, you can watch my process video here:
Thanks so much for stopping by today so I could share this with you. I hope I have inspired you to get creative too.
Hello, hello Cocoa Vanilla fans. It’s Kylie back with you today on the blog with some scrappy inspiration for you all. My design team assignment for today was to scrap-lift a design from the Cocoa Vanilla Community Facebook group. I actually chose a design by fellow DT member Raquel Bowman to scrap-lift. I was really drawn to her design which you can see below, followed by my scrap-lifted completed works.
As you can see by my page I have adapted the ‘Merry and Bright’ collection for my layout even though it is a Christmas themed range. When I was working with this stunning collection at the end of last year, I was totally obsessed with it and also found many of the paper elements and die cuts could be easily adapted into a non-Christmas themed project! I was really excited to try this and was super happy with the finished result! The centrepiece of this page is a lovely cut file which has been designed by Cut To You! I selected papers featuring neutral themed designs and prints to back each ‘pie’ section before adhering it over my background papers. The ‘Jingle All The Way’ paper was used as the border piece of my page. Even though it featured some holly shaped leaves, you really couldn’t pick those out once I had added the‘Seasons Greetings’ paper over the top.
The ‘Seasons Greetings’ paper had 1 cm trimmed off each side and a machine stitched border added before adhering it over the top of the floral.
My photo was printed to a smaller scale of 3″x 4″ and adhered over the top of the cut file using foam adhesive squares. From here I was able to add lots of different floral elements from the die cut pack. I made sure to cover any Holly leaves or remove them from the flower first.
To complete my page I added a large title using the foam title stickers from the ‘Unforgettable’ collection which balanced my page nicely. I also added a button flair which featured a sweet double heart print and matched my theme.
So that you can see exactly how my page came together, I have also filmed a short process video-
Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today. I hope you have enjoyed seeing my scrap-lifted layout and that you may even be tempted to try a non Christmas themed project with the Merry & Bright collection too!
Hey y’all! Laura Alberts back again with a super silly 9×12 layout featuring non-holiday themed photos using the delightfully holiday themed Merry & Bright collection! I particularly adore the florals in this collection and really wanted to make them the shine on this page. With two black and white photos on a wood grain background, using the Season’s Greetings patterned paper, these photos automatically ‘pop’ on this background regardless of how much color I add on.
I clustered together a number of fussy cut florals to create a border along the bottom of the photos, adding in a couple of the puffy stars for a bit of non-paper texture. I loved the gold tones these added to the page and reached into my stash for some large gold sequins to add as well.
For the strands of hearts along the bottom, I drew lines with my white gel pen, then added an assortment of hearts and the outlines of hearts (that I cut from the punch-out packaging!). These outlines are then backed with pocket page cards and paper scraps. The hearts that didn’t have an outline were drawn one with my white gel pen. By alternating between sequins and hearts, with a little bit of Nuvo drops in between, this gives a lovely detail to the bottom of the page as well as tying in the gold from the stars.
I have included a sketch based on this layout to inspire you to give this design a try! I hope the sketch for this layout inspires you and this embellishment style encourages you to look at your collections a little differently! It’s fun to see how you can change things up. If you’d like to see the Sweet Memories layout come together, I have the entire process in the video below!
Happy Australia Day! For today’s layout, my focus is the national colors: green and gold. I use gold very often in my projects, but green is not on my most used list. So, leaves and flowers came to the rescue. And I created this page with a picture of my sister and her son, mixing Daydream and Merry & Bright collections.
I used the Merry & Bright Star Bright Paper for my background and glued a white cardstock crooked on top of it, so you can see part of the Star Bright Paper on the left side. Then, I machine stitched two sides of the white cardstock.
Once I had the base, I made some brush strokes with gold metallic paint in the middle of the white cardstock. You can see it peeking through the elements.
With two of the Merry & Bright Pocket Cards, I framed my photo. I chose two with green tones to match my page. I put some foam behind the photo to rise it a little bit and add more dimension.
For my title, I used one of the black foam titles from the Unforgettable collection. I love who it stands out. I put it on top of the picture, so it seems to be floating. Behind it, I placed one of the words from the Daydream Accessory Stickers that say “sweetheart”. So, the title is “Hello sweetheart”.
In the upper right corner, I glued a green Puffy fabric heart with gold metallic thread underneath it. And finally, I scattered some hearts and sequins to add a shiny touch to the page.
I hope you like this layout, and it gives you some inspiration. I could never get tired of using Cocoa Vanilla flowers!
Thank you so much for stopping by today, and I wish you a wonderful Australia Day!!
