Remember | Love always Layout | Anna Komenda

Hello everyone. It’s Anna here with my newest page. The theme for this week is SPRING or EASTER and I couldn’t be more happy about it. I love making spring pages with fresh colors and flowers. Because of the situation around the world I wasn’t able to snap fresh pictures yet but I have plenty of them from previous years. I decided to reach for photos we took during our trip to Netherlands few years ago. We visited fantastic Keukenhof Garden, known for splendid tulips. It’s only open for few weeks of spring. I toom so many pretty photos that it was hard to choose only few. I decided to use 5 and put them in a row. I was looking for matching line and papers from “Love always” drawn my attention.

I like revisiting older lines. I can look at them with fresh eye and use up the leftovers. To avoid boredome and change things a little bit I didn’t use straight lines. I tilted a second layer paper a little bit and use this angle as a guideline for further layers.

My pictures are colorful and I wanted them to remain the main star of the project. I decided to keep things simple and I added only a few embellishments around the photos, mostly flowers from ephemera pack. I also found few woodies from various lines and added them here and there.

My title is a combination of cardstock sticker, and two different alpha stickers. Mixing different fonts makes things more interesting. You can mix stickers with cut outs from digital die cutting machine. There are plenty of possibilities.

Rad Brother | Legendary Collection | Melissa Vining

Hello and Happy Easter Monday. Its Melissa here!  I hope you had a lovely Easter with your loved ones wherever you are in the world.  I’m so excited to be working with the amazing Legendary collection, and there was a lot of excitement (from my kids and I) when the courier came to our door!

I decided to challenge myself to scrap an Easter photo with this rad collection, with an extra twist of using a floral cut file ,and to use it to document my son Sam. The cut file is from Confessions of a Paper Addict.

The first thing I did was to pull all of the papers that I thought would work for this cut file, bearing in mind that it has a lot of florals.  Often I find that the B-sides are best for backing smaller details on cut files.  Cut part sheets are also great for finding extra patterns and colours.

The title word said “Brothers”, but as I only have one son I altered it by cutting off the “s” to make it work for this photo of Sam.  The story behind this photo is that although he was a big 12 year old last Easter, he still joined in the Easter hunt and even posed for this photo for the sake of his youngest sisters. If you have kids that are nearly teenagers you’ll know what I mean!!

I love using a patterned paper for a background, and this gorgeous small repeating triangle was perfect.  I added some small blue and yellow splatters for some subtle detail.  I really wanted the feature of may layout to be the photo and the cut file, so I kept embellishment to a minimum.  I added some of the clear stickers to help draw the eye in, and my final touch was to use blue drops on the two flowers that were too small to back with patterned paper.

Hey Legends | Legendary collection | Sue Plumb

Hi everyone! It’s Sue Plumb here to share my latest design team project with you featuring the awesome new ‘Legendary’ collection. For this layout I decided to document a photo of my three kids doing what they do best – being weirdos! (I wouldn’t have them any other way.) I also decided to work with a very limited colour palette – focusing on the black / blue / grey tones from the collection, as I thought it would work well with my black and white photo.

I began by creating a mixed media background on a sheet of white cardstock, using two blue inks to add some subtle colour to my page. I also added some stamping using black ink and a stamp with tiny stars. Once the background was completely dry I then moved on to adding some papery layers.

I first cut a piece of the star print pattern from the Offbeat paper into a vertical banner shape to act as the anchor point for my layers. Next, I created a mat for my photo using a piece of the Explorer paper and placed it on top of the banner with my photo stuck on top. I then added a couple of horizontal strips that I cut from the Explorer and Total Legend papers and tucked them in behind.

Above my photo I added some extra pieces of paper tucked in behind the top of the banner which were also cut from the Total Legend paper. I also added the circular piece that I fussy cut from the centre of the mandala in the middle of the Explorer paper.

I also added two words from the Die Cut Titles pack to form my title Hey Legends (I actually cut the “s” from another word to make the word Legends) and popped them up using some foam tape.

To the right of my photo I created a small cluster using the geo deer from the Die Cut Ephemera pack, with a small star on top (again using foam tape for dimension). Along the bottom edge of my photo I added the stay weird stay wonderful quote from the Epic Tales paper, with the go your own way quote from the Accessory Sticker sheet below it.

To finish off, I added some small black chevrons to the left of my photo from the Clear Sticker sheet; then a good scattering of stars from the Die Cut Ephemera pack. I am so happy with how this one came together and I absolutely love the colour combo of all those cool tones.

Smile, Bloom, Grow | Unforgettable | Tazhiana

Hello friends, and welcome to a new layout! For this one, I decided to kind of stretch my creative muscles and play with a more geometric design, which is not one I typically go for. I had a lot of fun trying something new for this layout.

To start, I printed out two 4×4 square photos and then cut down a variety of patterned paper from the Unforgettable collection into 4×4 and 2×2 squares so I could vary the placement and orientation of the patterns on my background. I first stuck down my photos using some foam tape to prop them up off the background and then filled in the extra space with the patterned papers until the background was full. I chose papers that were mostly white or had more solid swatches of color to prevent the background from being too busy and I printed my photos in black and white for contrast and to help them stand out from all the paper.

To embellish my photo, I kept it very simple with a single floral and a piece of flair. I didn’t want it to get lost in the background or embellish the photo too heavily since I was going to do that to the rest of the squares.

Next, I went to work on embellishing all of my empty spaces. I used a variety of both die cuts and ephemera as well as cut apart elements from the 6×8 patterned paper stack. For each of my clusters, I mixed different shapes, sizes and textures and made sure to pop up at least one element on foam.

 

For my titles, I chose to die cut two words from the wood grained paper and mixed into that a foam sticker to create “Smile, Bloom, Glow”. I added a few more foam stickers across the page to repeat that texture as well as the stark black color throughout the layout.

 

A few clear stickers and enamel dots finished this page off! I hope you enjoyed this grid style layout – it is a perfect one to stash bust with if you have scraps of patterned paper left around and can be scaled down for a variety of size pages and products. Till next time, keep it crafty!

 

 

Super Sweet | Legendary Collection | Danni Visser

Hi again Cocoa Vanilla Studio fans!  Danni here with a Super Sweet layout to share using the colourful Legendary collection.  I was challenged to make flair buttons a feature on this layout, and I absolutely love flair, so I was really excited to get creating this one!  For this layout, I wanted to feature multiple smaller photos of my little boy enjoying this bowl of ice cream. Because of the dessert, I decided to use sweets as the theme!  I started with this super cool gumball machine cutfile and backed it with lots of different coloured patterns from the patterned papers in the collection.

For my background, I took the Wild One 12×12 paper and mounted it with a thin white cardstock border, then popped some bright yellow card stock in the centre. I love how the rainbow stripe really pops between the two layers of plain cardstock!  For some extra texture and to secure all the layers together, I machine stitched with white thread around the edge of the layers. Once my base was done, I added some peach and blue ink splatters on the background following a diagonal – this is roughly the way I planned to have my photos positioned across the page, so I wanted to draw the eye in the same direction with the splatters.

The photos were matted with alternating layers of One Way, Brave Heart and Explorer patterned papers, with 2 simple layers on each photo.  I went through and distressed the edges of my photo mats too – I just love the textural effect this provides! I arranged my photos in a cascade from the top of the cutfile to the bottom, making sure they overlapped each other and showed the progression of events.  How adorable is his little face?

Time for flair buttons!  I added them in three places, making sure to place one in the slot at the base of the machine, to looks as if a gumball was falling out.  I just love how that looks!  I went ahead and added some decorative clusters using the die cut ephemera and accessory stickers, taking care to strategically cover the random people in the background of the photos. I also punched a bunch of small circles from the patterned papers and used them to fill in any gaps.

For my title I used SUPER from the die cut titles and some white foam alphas to make ‘SUPER Sweet’.  I think that fits the theme of the layout quite nicely!  To finish off I added a sprinkling of enamel dots and a few lines of journaling in grey pen.

Super Hero | Legendary Layout | Anna Komenda

Hello CVS Friends. It’s Anna here with another project made with brand new “Legendary” collection. This line is so easy to work with and you have to believe me as I am not used to using masculine lines. I made this page in about 30 minutes which is almost a record for me. “Legendary” is a very colorful collection with almost all colors from the rainbow in it. However this time I decided to focus on yellow, orange and blue. I took those colors from the picture of my cute nephew.

I started with white background and some colorful splatters made with mists. It’s such an easy and fast way to add some unique touch to your pages. Second step was to pick three patterned papers and cut them into pieces. I also added decorative edge made with border puncher. If don’t have any, you can just tear off the edge of paper to add a little bit of mess.

Next step was to add photos over the layered papers and some title made with amazing product – Die cut titles. You have so many words to choose from and they are designed the way, you can also make longer phrases.

I love adding simple shapes to my projects and “Legendary” collection has great set of stars in various sizes and colors. I choose three bigger ones from Ephemera pack to create a visual triangle. I also added small stars from Clear stickers set and added them here and there.

I finished my page with few ephemera pieces, mostly tags and tickets, and few enamel dots. I am so happy how it all turned out. Tt will be a perfect addition to the gift for upcoming birthday of this little super hero.

Epic | Legendary Collection | Tarrah McLean

Hi friends,

It’s Tarrah back with you today to share a new layout using the awesome Legendary collection!

I love how versatile this collection is, it can be used for boy projects, travel projects and even girl projects! Make sure to check your local or favourite online scrapbook store and get your hands on it!

I started out by trimming some of the papers into a few different sizes and arranged them on a white cardstock background. I chose the white arrow paper to feature my photo and some of the main embellishments. My photo is one of my eldest son looking handsome and going to his Year 6 farewell night a few years back.

 

 

I love the star die-cuts in the ephemera pack, I added the grey ones in 3 places to create a visual triangle on my page. I like how this takes your eye around the page. In between 2 of the stars I added some of the clear sticker stars, I like how this adds a bit more impact to the die-cut ones.

Inside the large grey star, I added one of the large circle Authentic die-cuts, I used craft foam underneath it to raise it up, I like how it gives it shadow and dimension. I also added the ‘Epic’ die-cut title below my photo, this became my title for my page. The flairs are awesome in this collection so I added the ‘Let’s Go’ one on this page since the photo is my son getting into the car! I also added the ‘Admit One Adventure Pass’ ticket just above the flair also.

Rad Robot | Legendary collection | Sue Plumb

Hi everyone!

Sue Plumb here to share another design team project using the brand new ‘Legendary’ collection with you. Today I am sharing a 12×12″ layout I created to document some photos of one of my boys and the awesome Lego robot he made with his dad. Building Lego is one of the activities they really enjoy doing together and I love seeing what they come up with. I couldn’t resist snapping some shots of this robot, it was very impressive!

I began my layout with the reverse side of the Brave Heart paper which features a fabulous painty style pattern. I then stacked a variety of pieces taken from the Wild One; One Way; and Explorer papers to define the focal area of my page and form a mat for my photo. These were topped with the strip featuring black and white arrows that was cut from the Total Legend cut apart paper.

Once the papers were in place, I added some lines of black machine stitching to help define the horizontal structure of the stack and also add some extra visual interest. I also added a rough stitched border around the outer edge of the page to help connect the background with the foreground, before adding my photo on top of the paper stack.

Now it was time to turn up the fun factor by adding some embellishments. (I usually have trouble deciding which pieces to use when I receive a new collection, as there are always so many to choose from.)

I began to the left of my photo, creating a small cluster using the die cut geo bear and a star from the Die Cut Ephemera pack, as well as a few Enamel Dots.

To the right of my photo I created my title cluster using the round frame and another star from the ephemera pack; the word RAD from the Die Cut Titles; a few enamel dots; and some small alphabet stickers I had left from the Made of Awesome collection. For an little extra pop of colour I also added the orange paint splat from the Clear Sticker set.

I created a third small cluster (because – visual triangle and rule of threes!) above my photo using the tag and phrase stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet; with the small die cut flag layered over the top. I brought further balance to my page (and my mind) by adding an extra die cut star below my photo, which completed my secondary visual triangle.

I also created a small cluster for my journalling at the top of the page to counteract the fact that my page was so “bottom heavy”. The label and the strip of stars both came from the Epic Tales cut apart paper. I then finished off my layout with some black stamping using texture and phrase stamps and a few well placed tiny staples.

You are Awesome | Legendary Collection | By Raquel Bowman

Hey everyone, well it’s been a long time between posts for me here on the CVS blog but I am excited to be back creating and sharing projects with you all. My first layout I am sharing with you is using the new Legendary collection. I have both a boy (5) and girl (7) at home so always love when Zoe creates a masculine collection to use to document our stories.

Here is the layout that I created:

I have used white card stock as my base for this layout and framed it with the ‘Total Legend’ patterned paper. I loved the geometric Aztec design of the bside of this paper and thought it added a nice border to the whole layout. My statement piece on this page is the cut file from Cut 2 You which I backed with the ‘wild one’ ‘offbeat’ and ‘all star’ papers. This was added to the page with foam dots to create shadow and dimension against the white background. I wanted this page to feature pops of yellow and compliment the colour in my kids tops so the colours in the ‘wild one’ paper was perfect for this. Stars feature heavily in design elements for this collection so of course I had to feature the, on this page of my two little superstars.

The design of the layout is a diagonal design where the embellishments flow from the upper left corner to the bottom right creating balance. I am a lover of layers so for my portrait photo I have layered multiple patterned papers behind it to add detail and dimension. The final layer I cut fishtail ends into just for something different. That whole layered piece is also adhered to my layout using a foam sheet. To be more cost effective in my craft and because I love to add dimension to my layout I buy foam sheets in bulk packs from stores like Spotlight or Lincraft.

The star embellishments featured on this page are from a couple of different items in the collection; the ephemera pack and fussy cut from the ‘all star’ paper. To add detail to the stars I have either adhered them with a clear glue dot or added machine stitching for texture.

I always love to hand type my journaling and cut it into strips. This particular page features my kiddies love hate relationship… siblings right?!?

Good boy | Legendary Mini album | Anna Komenda

Hello my sweet friends. We continue to inspire you with projects made with brand new “Legendary” collection. I made travel themed layout with this line already and this time I decided to make a mini album. I am a mom of two girls and very lovely beagle dog Pirat. It was a great opportunity to change pink and glitter into some other color palette :) After all, he also deserves his own pages, right?

I decided to use circles as a base of my album. I picked some solid patterns from the papers included into “Legendary” collection: All star, Offbeat, Wild one, Total legend, Explorer, One way, Outdoor type and Brave heart. They are very colorful and perfect for any type of project, not only masculine ones.

I used every single item from “Legendary” in this album. Various products add various textures and this is something I am always aiming for. This line can be easily mixed with some older boyish collections from CVS – “Boys rule” and “You rock“. I used some bits and pieces from them to add some decorative hanging element on the album ring.

Each page holds one or two pictures taken during different occasions. My boy is fancy, lazy, sporty, elegant and crazy. “Legendary” line is filled with pretty starts so you can find this motif on almost every page. I mixed them with tabs and words from sticker sheet and ephemera pack. I also added few flair buttons and titles from Titles pack. I finished my project adding enamel dots. here are all the pages included into this mini book:

That is all for today. Do you like my album? Isn’t Pirat the cutest dog ever? It was so fun to scrapbook so many pictures of him at once. He is already a senior dog with 13 years behind him so I cherish every single photo I have. Despite his age he is still full of live and loves to play.
