Today I am sharing a page for Throwback Thursday and I pulled out the Midnight collection which I still have a nice stash of…not surprising as I have hoarded a lot of Cocoa Vanilla products!
Here is a look at my page..
To start my page I used a stitching cutfile from Paige Evans of a branch which I stitched using a chain stitch in a soft pink which creates some nice dimension. This serves as the landing space for my photo..
Next, I pulled out lots of florals, hearts and butterflies from the ephemera pack and accessory sticker sheet to fill out the stitched branch and add lots of interest and dimension.
I also added some stickers to the top of my photo to add more interest..
For my title I used the word ‘Happy’ from the Chipboard pieces to complete my title, then I used one of the clear stickers under the word Happy to ground it to my page..
Under my title I used a banner from the chipboard pieces..
To finish my page I popped a few more of the clear stickers around my page to fill in some of the open spots…I love how this this turned out and finished off my page.
Thanks for popping by today, I hope you found some inspiration to maybe pull out some of your older CVS stash to get crafty!
Hello crafty Friends! Almost each year I have a pleasure to inspire you on Valentine’s Day and this year is no different! I thought that instead of another layout, I will share with you three simple cards I made for my Valentines at home – hubby and two daughters. Each year I keep making cards for them adding few love words inside to show them my appreciation for each of them. I also add something sweet as a little bonus :) This year I decided to dive into older stash and found some papers and embellishments from “Midnight” collection. This line was an amazing combination of soft pink and coral with very dark and deep navy and purple. And those florals… They were so pretty and unique.
Each card has a similar composition with a little shaker in the middle, filled with sequins and some wood veneers from very ancient CVS collections (I still have a box full af them and I keep adding them here and there to many projects).
One of the cards is for my hubby and I made it darker than two others. It also doesn’t have any florals. I added little jars filled with hearts instead. One of them is from Ephemera Pack and one is taken from the 6*12 Stickers Sheet (yes, I still have those too :) – I am a hoarder). “Midnight” collection came with a set of Words Die Cuts but I already used up most of the love related words so I reached out to similar set from “Happiness” collection. It has similar font and similar color so it was a perfect match!
Second card is for my younger daughter and it also has shaker in the middle. If you look closely, you will notice that for my card bases I used a pattern paper. I am using my A5 Paper Pads for this purpose. Each card is sized 10*14 cm and it helps me use up some of the older papers! The good thing about those Paper Pads from CVS is that they are white on the back! Perfect for adding personal message inside the card. This time I added some flowers from Ephemera Pack trimming the whote outline first. This made them a little bit smaller and a better fit for the card. My card title is the only one made with “Midnight” Words Die Cuts. It was the only full phrase in love theme that I was able to create with it.
Last card is for my older daughter. I tried to keep it a little bit less “sweet” as she is teenager now, who prefers black over pink :). I couldn’t help myself and added few flowers, but they are a bit smaller than in the previous card. I made my shakers using a frame die with a cute scallop border. After die cutting the frame, I backed it with a piece of acetate and used foam strips to build volume. All I needed to do is to add some sequins inside and job was done!
Do you make your own Valentine’s Day cards? Or you do not like giving them? I know we need to show our love and appreciation each day, but it never hurts to highlight it even more on the Love Day!
Thank you so much for stopping by and see you in two weeks! Sending you all tons of love!
Hey y’all! Laura Alberts back again with a little bit of wedding inspiration using one of the older Cocoa Vanilla Studio collections in my stash, Midnight! I absolutely love the elegant designs and mix of dark navy with pink and purple in this collection, making it perfect for my wedding photos.
Using a large 6×8 photo on this layout filled most of the page, so I kept my embellishing simple with a long border of florals and chipboard hearts down the right side. Behind the florals, I added a few clear stickers to give a tiny bit of detailing to the layers. I tucked a black and white floral underneath the photo and added a layer of vellum to mat my photo.
On the bottom left, I created a journaling spot with a 3D effect by layering frames, a cut-apart piece and a tag. I love how this blends in beautifully with the floral paper in the background, but still adds a pop of interest to the left side of the page.
For the title, I used a die cut ephemera piece, layered it on top of a chipboard banner, then tucked a mixed media style clear sticker underneath. All of these layers give my title depth and dimension. My favorite part is always the Nuvo trails behind the butterflies!
I hope this layout gives you a little inspiration to use for your next formal event!
Hello everyone! It’s Kylie back with you today for another ‘Throwback Thursday’ feature on the blog. I love to go back through my paper stash and choose a past collection to create with and for todays layout I selected the forever beautiful ‘MIDNIGHT’ collection. I’ve always loved the navy and pink colour combinations to this range and swoon over the mason jar and floral die cuts. So much beauty!
I opted for a darker toned background with the BLOOM & GROW paper and have layered pieces of SOPHISTICATED and ALL THE THINGS papers to the top third of my page. The edges have all been distressed a little to feature a nice amount of texture.
The best part about rummaging around through your craft supplies, like I was when I found my ‘MIDNIGHT’ stash, is all the other cool stuff you find that you may of forgotten about….(who me??) Let’s chat about paper doilies. I love them. I love the interest they can add to a project and there are so many ways you can incorporate them into a project. I found some smaller sized doilies and have wrapped each side of my photo to show a small lacey edge overlapping. It provided a fab backdrop for the floral die cuts I layered over the top.
For balance, I also added another doily with more die cuts to the lower left corner of my page.
To complete my page I added a lovely oversized title from the chipboard die cut pack to below my photo. It really seemed to tie in the theme of my photo and page design nicely! I used some foam adhesive squares to raise the title a little and make it seem as though it was ‘floating’ above my page.
Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today. I hope you have enjoyed taking a walk down memory lane and seeing the MIDNIGHT collection in use once more. Maybe my design has inspired you just a little to use some more of your past collections too! Until next time,
Hello lovely ones! It’s Kylie back with you on the blog and today I am sharing my top 3 favourite layouts for 2019. I actually found it hard to choose just 3 as I love all the supplies I have created with.Cocoa Vanilla Studio brings out the best of my creativity! Anyway, I have been browsing through my photo files and here are my favourite 3 for 2019 in no specific order!
1: CAPTURED featuring the UNFORGETTABLE collection.
I remember being totally smitten with the ‘STORYTELLER’ paper, (actually I still am) and I based my whole layout around this background page.Flowers are totally my jam and I loved how these layered blooms came together. All that colour and texture made my heart sing!
2: ‘THE BEST’ featuring the BOYS RULE collection.
The Boys Rule collection is probably one of my most favourite ever. I love everything about it from the colour palette to the icons and artwork. Whenever I create with this collection my layouts come together so fast and I am always happy with my finished page. It’s one of the easiest collections to create amazing layouts of my little man with. I remember loving myself sick once this was done as I was for once happy with my mixed media background. Haha! (Mixed media and I aren’t friends most of the time.)
3: ‘HAPPY DAYS’ featuring the ‘MIDNIGHT’ collection.
Whenever I create with the ‘Midnight’ collection I fall in love with the cute mason jars all over again….Every time! I have created several layouts with this range purely based on these cute jars as being a centrepiece of my completed design.Sometimes an element of design or a sticker or a colour really jumps out at you and for me this was the case. I added quite a few jars in this layout as well as using a cut file in my background. ‘Midnight’ has a lovely monochromatic vibe and pops of pink that really catch your eye.
So there you have it. I hope you have enjoyed taking a trip down memory lane with me today and you have enjoyed seeing my favourite layouts of 2019. Wishing you all a safe, happy Christmas and a lovely 2020.
Hello lovely friends! It’s Kylie back with you all today with a fun new project I have been working on. Have you been captured by the new ‘Memorydex’ card craze?? I certainly have. Memorydex cards are a great fun way to produce some mini scrapbook pages or to create cards with positive sentiments. It’s also a nice way to display your ‘mini layouts’ all together either in a Memorydex storage box or on a Memorydex spinner. Thanks to their size they are also a great way of using up any left over supplies you may have on hand. I’ve been creating quite a few cards lately which I will share some of today. For this trio I have worked with the beautiful Midnight collection.
To create my cards I was lucky enough to find a die from my local scrapbooking store but you can also find free templates online too. Once I have my card cut to size I can begin embellishing. My photos have been printed quite small- around 3cm x 3cm so that they fit nice and snug into my card amongst all the gorgeous die cuts.
So that my cards had some lovely texture and dimension I have added my embellishments with foam adhesive. This is so they sit up from the card background. For colour contrast I also used a leaf punch from my stash to create some darker leaves as well. These have been tucked in and around my flowers. I love using flowers and the Cocoa Vanilla die cut packs are always so generous in the quantity you receive.
I created a Memorydex card with a masculine theme for a photo of my son. This collection is very versatile and allows you to be able to do that. I have layered several foliage die cuts amongst a frame and my favourite embellishment of this entire collection….A mason jar! To finish my card I also added the ‘Shine Bright’ button flair.
I’ll be adding these to my Memorydex spinner once I have completed more but for now I can enjoy them in their storage box.
Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today to see my latest project. I hope it gives you some inspiration for your own creating.
Amanda here, and today I am sharing my take on this week’s design team theme post using the divine MIDNIGHT collection. The theme this week is….
creations that “put a ring on it”.
Think rings, wreaths, circles, dots – basically include any round element! Such a fun theme!
Here’s what I came up with….
“Love This”
Oh.my.heart!!! So dreamy & divine!
The MIDNIGHT collection is so elegant & beautiful! It’s the perfect collection for documenting stories of my sweet girl!
Here’s a closer look for you….
So incredibly beautiful!
I start this layout with pattern paper, CV-MN007 INKY DEPTHS – it’s the perfect base! Such a stunning background paper & I just love how it reminds me of the night sky and clouds. To this paper, I trace a circle shape to create a guideline for my wreath (ring) design.
To form the wreath, I fussy cut pattern paper CV-MN001 BLOOM &GROW. I arrange these larger blooms over the traced circle, and adhere with a mix of double sided tape and foam mounting tape. This adds a sense of dimension, soft texture, and brings interest to the design.
I also fussy cut the wreath icon from the CV-MN006 ALL THE THINGS pattern paper, and adhere it to the opening of my ring design (top right corner). Here’s a close up for you…
SO pretty!!!
Next, I pull out my gel pens, and draw a mix of sketchy leaves that are not dissimilar to that of the BLOOM & GROW pattern paper. The white gel pen is super striking on the INKY DEPTHS paper!
The scribbled leaves serve two purposes – they add a new design element (& visual stimulus) to the layout, plus they also ‘build up’ the wreath so that it looks full and attractive. In keeping with the whimsical feeling of the page, I add lots of tiny dots in both white, pink & blue pen.
I just LOVE how effective the gel pen looks!
Design Tip: If you like this look, but are nervous about drawing on your layouts, you could always achieve the same look using stamps and white embossing powder.
Next, I tuck my photo into the left hand side of the wreath and decorate around it with a few ACCESSORY STICKERS. I also embellish with that fabulous FLAIR BUTTON (which also features a pretty wreath on it!). Lots of rings and wreaths and pretties on this sweet page!
With the ACCESSORY STICKERS handy, I also add some butterflies to the wreath and add a subtitle to the bottom right corner, Love you so….
It’s Mandy here with you today, and I have layout to share that I created for ‘Sisters Day’. I love scrapbooking photos of my girls, and what a perfect reason to document this gorgeous photo of the two of them together! I used the beautiful Midnightcollection to create this layout, and I love how pretty the soft pinks and blues look together!
I started my layout off with the Moonlight patterned paper as the background, and I added some machine stitching around the edge of the page to give it some additional texture. Next I cut the word ‘winter’ on my Silhouette Cameo using a free cut file from The Cut Shoppe. I backed the word with vellum to give it a soft, frosted look, and then I adhered it using small pieces of foam tape to give it some dimension. Using the same cut file, I also cut a few snowflakes out of the reverse side of the Mixed Blessingspatterned paper to embellish my page.
I matted my photo with the reverse side of the Bloom & Grow patterned paper, and I adhered it to the right of the cut file. I also tucked a tab from the sticker sheet under the right hand side of the photo.
I completed my title using the chipboard word ‘moments’. I love using different elements to create fun and interesting titles like this! You can also see here that I added a flair button to the centre of one of the snowflakes. Underneath the title I added a little word sticker and a banner die cutthat says ‘All Smiles’.
I love the texture and interest that the snowflakes add to the layout! I added a couple of die cuts and a chipboard heart to the centre of the one in the top right hand corner. I finished the layout off by adding a few clear stickers, a couple of die cut flowers, and some sparkly Wild at Heart enamel dots.
Thanks so much for joining me here today! I hope that you’ve been inspired by my ‘Sisters’ themed layout! I’ll be back later in the month to share some more inspiration with you.
