WILD & FREE | LEGENDARY | LAURA ALBERTS

Hey y’all! Laura Alberts back with a Wild & Free layout featuring my youngest son and his stockpile of sister-annoying weapons. He is ready to take on all three of his sisters with this setup! I couldn’t stop giggling while scrapping this one, he’s so serious in his games and he was ready to rock and roll. This cut file from Paper Issues was absolutely perfect for this “target practice” style layout! I used the front and back of the Wild One patterned paper from the Legendary collection to build my background and then fussy cut tons of stars from the All Stars patterned paper to create a cascade that follows the color pattern of the background!

By tucking this larger ephemera star behind my photo, it helps to draw your attention to the photo as well as give the impression of the smaller stars shooting off from the larger one, a cool effect and perfect for this layout! I added a scattering of enamel dots and gold ink splatter to add detail to this cascade of stars.

I used a cut apart piece for my title and an arrow to draw your eye back to the photo again! On a one photo layout, it’s important to reinforce that this is the focal point in more than one way. And finally, I added these word phrase strips below the photo to create a pre-made journaling spot! I love how this layout came out and I think it really captures the feeling of that moment for my son.

Explore | Legendary Collection | Danni Visser

Hi there scrappers!  Danni here sharing a large photo layout using Legendary.  I was itching to get some outdoor photos scrapped with this collection, so I decided to use this landscape photo of Tasmania’s Dove Lake at Cradle Mountain. It’s such a stunning image and I have been waiting for the right collection to scrap it – the mountain images in Legendary made it absolutely perfect!

My layout base is a 12×12 pale blue cardstock background.  I went through all the patterned papers in this collection and cut a bunch of different size triangles from contrasting colours and patterns.  A little tip for cutting even triangles – cut squares or rectangles, fold in half and pinch at the centre to mark it, then use a paper trimmer to cut straight lines from the two bottom corners to the centre point.

To create texture and interest, I added machine stitching to edges of some triangles.  On others I used either white gel pen or black pen to add sketchy lines or faux stitching, while a few I left blank.  I then arranged all the triangles in a horizontal line across the page, making sure to overlap them.  My intention was to create the illusion of a mountain range behind my photo.  Because you can see the mountains reflected in the water, I added some triangles at the bottom pointing down as well. To create a 3D effect, I popped the peaks of mountains on foam squares.

I matted the photo with a single simple layer using Outdoors Type paper. I happened to find the perfect mountains die cut from the die cut ephemera, which I layered behind the Explore cut apart from Epic Tales paper as my title to left of my photo.  Three tiny word stickers from the accessory stickers were perfect accents to the right and top of the photo. The mountain flair button to the right of my photo perfectly echoes the mountain die cut on the opposite side.

For the sky, I added the moon from the die cut ephemera and fussy-cut a bunch of stars from All Star paper.  Next I scattered some stars from the clear stickers throughout the sky and a couple on top of my photo.  I particularly love clear stickers for layering on photos!  To fill in any gaps in the sky, I sprinkled in some enamel dots.

As a finishing touch I splattered some white, gold and black inks on the background, mountains and a little on the edge of the photo. Remember | Love always Layout | Anna Komenda

Hello everyone. It’s Anna here with my newest page. The theme for this week is SPRING or EASTER and I couldn’t be more happy about it. I love making spring pages with fresh colors and flowers. Because of the situation around the world I wasn’t able to snap fresh pictures yet but I have plenty of them from previous years. I decided to reach for photos we took during our trip to Netherlands few years ago. We visited fantastic Keukenhof Garden, known for splendid tulips. It’s only open for few weeks of spring. I toom so many pretty photos that it was hard to choose only few. I decided to use 5 and put them in a row. I was looking for matching line and papers from “Love always” drawn my attention.

I like revisiting older lines. I can look at them with fresh eye and use up the leftovers. To avoid boredome and change things a little bit I didn’t use straight lines. I tilted a second layer paper a little bit and use this angle as a guideline for further layers.

My pictures are colorful and I wanted them to remain the main star of the project. I decided to keep things simple and I added only a few embellishments around the photos, mostly flowers from ephemera pack. I also found few woodies from various lines and added them here and there.

My title is a combination of cardstock sticker, and two different alpha stickers. Mixing different fonts makes things more interesting. You can mix stickers with cut outs from digital die cutting machine. There are plenty of possibilities.

Do you like going back to the older lines or, in a very moment you get new ones, you just forget about them? That is all for today. I hope I inspired you to do some digging in the older stuff. Rad Brother | Legendary Collection | Melissa Vining

Hello and Happy Easter Monday. Its Melissa here!  I hope you had a lovely Easter with your loved ones wherever you are in the world.  I’m so excited to be working with the amazing Legendary collection, and there was a lot of excitement (from my kids and I) when the courier came to our door!

I decided to challenge myself to scrap an Easter photo with this rad collection, with an extra twist of using a floral cut file ,and to use it to document my son Sam. The cut file is from Confessions of a Paper Addict.

The first thing I did was to pull all of the papers that I thought would work for this cut file, bearing in mind that it has a lot of florals.  Often I find that the B-sides are best for backing smaller details on cut files.  Cut part sheets are also great for finding extra patterns and colours.

The title word said “Brothers”, but as I only have one son I altered it by cutting off the “s” to make it work for this photo of Sam.  The story behind this photo is that although he was a big 12 year old last Easter, he still joined in the Easter hunt and even posed for this photo for the sake of his youngest sisters. If you have kids that are nearly teenagers you’ll know what I mean!!

I love using a patterned paper for a background, and this gorgeous small repeating triangle was perfect.  I added some small blue and yellow splatters for some subtle detail.  I really wanted the feature of may layout to be the photo and the cut file, so I kept embellishment to a minimum.  I added some of the clear stickers to help draw the eye in, and my final touch was to use blue drops on the two flowers that were too small to back with patterned paper.

Sweet | More Than Words collection | Anna Blades

Hi friends! Anna here today with a new layout! One of the things I like the most about spring are the cherry blossoms. I love all these tiny pink flowers. And I was inspired by them to make this page featuring the pretty More than words collection.

I chose the B side from the Effervescent paper for my background. This gray chevron is just perfect. I trimmed half an inch from each side of the paper and backed the layout with a gray card-stock. Then I stitched all around the page with my sewing machine.

To make the layered flowers I cut the Darling Buds paper with my Silhouette Cameo. They’re a Paige Evan’s design. Once I had all the layers, I raised the tips of the petals to give them more dimension, glued all the layers and put a white enamel in the middle of each flower.

All around the flowers, I placed some leaves that I diecut out of white card stock and vellum. I love how they look peeking from behind the flowers.

Behind the photo I put tissue paper with white polka dots. You can hardly see it, but I think it’s a nice delicate touch. I also added a doily and a label behind the photo.

On the right side of the picture I stacked two stickers from the sticker sheet, because the colors and the sentiment were perfect for the page.

Like I did on my previous layout, I used one of the chipboard words for my title, but this time I chose it in black with the black outlined heart. Instead of journaling, I added two typewritten phrases from the sticker sheet with two heart shaped enamel dots on each side, and stitched them with my sewing machine.

The final touch was an adorable chipboard heart with tiny polka dots and a soft pink enamel dot on the upper left side of the photo.

I really hope you like it and inspires you to create a floral layout, which is always a winner.

Sweet Moments | More Than Words Collection | Tarrah McLean

Hi friends,

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a layout for Throwback Thursday. I decided to go back and pull out the gorgeous More Than Words collection for my Throwback Thursday project. I decided to cut a scallop design cut file that is from Cut To You first and backed some of the open spaces with some of the gorgeous papers from the collection.

I chose the Noteworthy paper as my background paper and arranged all the scallop pieces on the background how I liked them. I chose to document a lovely photo of my Mum and my son together at my Nan’s 90th birthday at the end of last year. I added one of the cardstock frames behind my photo and popped it up with foam tape to raise it up off the page. I placed some embellishments around the photo, including the flair button, a few die-cut phrases, a chipboard heart and some enamel dots and shapes.

My title is made up of the chipboard ‘Moments’ word from the chipboard elements pack and also the word ‘Sweet’ from the black chipboard titles pack. I placed both of these on the left of my photo, I like how they look overlapping the scalloped papers underneath. I added some of the floral cluster die-cuts around the page also, I like how they add some more colour and another element to the page.

The most time consuming part of the layout was backing all the scallop pieces and getting them arranged. Once that was all done and I had them glued down, the rest of the layout came together quite quickly. I find backing cut files very therapeutic, a bit like fussy cutting….however I know its not everyone’s cup of tea lol! A few of the last bits I added were the small phrase stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet.

Super Awesome | Legendary Collection | Rachel Lowe

Hello CVS crafty friends, I hope you are all doing well and staying safe during these challenging times! Today I have a layout featuring the fab new Legendary collection. With Easter nearly upon us I wanted to create an Easter themed layout, so I chose colour, patterns and elements from the collection to do so. I have used a Easter Egg Wreath cut file from the Silhouette Design store.

I have used the Total Legend paper for the spring flowers on the wreath. I then chose Wild One paper to cut the super cute bunnies in the yellow and then used the reverse side (cuttting the blue/green stripes from the pattern) to paper back one of the eggs. I cut out the 3×4 inch journal card from the reverse of the Total Legend paper, white with yellow triangles and cut three stripes to go the egg. For the final egg I cut the dark green 3×4 inch journal card from the Total Legend paper and paper backed it, creating a contrast against the white.

I added some machine stitching to the branches of the wreath to add texture and definition. I used enamel drops from the collection for the centre of the flowers. I added a small white pom pom to each of the bunnies tails.

I have used two photos, one being 3×3 inches and the other 2.5×2.5 inches. I matted the larger photo on the blue cut apart paper from the Total Legend paper and the smaller photo on a green square (again from Total Legend paper), adding the smaller photo with foam tape to create height. I also added some machine stitching around the larger photo mat and finished off adding a Flair appropriate to my photo and the Sweet As sticker from the Accessory Sticker Sheet.

To break up the white of the page I added some bright coloured paint splotches from the Clear Stickers and added under two of the bunnies.

To create my title I used the Super word from the Clear Stickers and adding a blue paint brush stroke clear sticker over it, finished off with a word sentiment from the Accessory Sticker Sheet.

Hey Legends | Legendary collection | Sue Plumb

Hi everyone! It’s Sue Plumb here to share my latest design team project with you featuring the awesome new ‘Legendary’ collection. For this layout I decided to document a photo of my three kids doing what they do best – being weirdos! (I wouldn’t have them any other way.) I also decided to work with a very limited colour palette – focusing on the black / blue / grey tones from the collection, as I thought it would work well with my black and white photo.

I began by creating a mixed media background on a sheet of white cardstock, using two blue inks to add some subtle colour to my page. I also added some stamping using black ink and a stamp with tiny stars. Once the background was completely dry I then moved on to adding some papery layers.

I first cut a piece of the star print pattern from the Offbeat paper into a vertical banner shape to act as the anchor point for my layers. Next, I created a mat for my photo using a piece of the Explorer paper and placed it on top of the banner with my photo stuck on top. I then added a couple of horizontal strips that I cut from the Explorer and Total Legend papers and tucked them in behind.

Above my photo I added some extra pieces of paper tucked in behind the top of the banner which were also cut from the Total Legend paper. I also added the circular piece that I fussy cut from the centre of the mandala in the middle of the Explorer paper.

I also added two words from the Die Cut Titles pack to form my title Hey Legends (I actually cut the “s” from another word to make the word Legends) and popped them up using some foam tape.

To the right of my photo I created a small cluster using the geo deer from the Die Cut Ephemera pack, with a small star on top (again using foam tape for dimension). Along the bottom edge of my photo I added the stay weird stay wonderful quote from the Epic Tales paper, with the go your own way quote from the Accessory Sticker sheet below it.

To finish off, I added some small black chevrons to the left of my photo from the Clear Sticker sheet; then a good scattering of stars from the Die Cut Ephemera pack. I am so happy with how this one came together and I absolutely love the colour combo of all those cool tones.

Smile, Bloom, Grow | Unforgettable | Tazhiana

Hello friends, and welcome to a new layout! For this one, I decided to kind of stretch my creative muscles and play with a more geometric design, which is not one I typically go for. I had a lot of fun trying something new for this layout.

To start, I printed out two 4×4 square photos and then cut down a variety of patterned paper from the Unforgettable collection into 4×4 and 2×2 squares so I could vary the placement and orientation of the patterns on my background. I first stuck down my photos using some foam tape to prop them up off the background and then filled in the extra space with the patterned papers until the background was full. I chose papers that were mostly white or had more solid swatches of color to prevent the background from being too busy and I printed my photos in black and white for contrast and to help them stand out from all the paper.

To embellish my photo, I kept it very simple with a single floral and a piece of flair. I didn’t want it to get lost in the background or embellish the photo too heavily since I was going to do that to the rest of the squares.

Next, I went to work on embellishing all of my empty spaces. I used a variety of both die cuts and ephemera as well as cut apart elements from the 6×8 patterned paper stack. For each of my clusters, I mixed different shapes, sizes and textures and made sure to pop up at least one element on foam.

 

For my titles, I chose to die cut two words from the wood grained paper and mixed into that a foam sticker to create “Smile, Bloom, Glow”. I added a few more foam stickers across the page to repeat that texture as well as the stark black color throughout the layout.

 

A few clear stickers and enamel dots finished this page off! I hope you enjoyed this grid style layout – it is a perfect one to stash bust with if you have scraps of patterned paper left around and can be scaled down for a variety of size pages and products. Till next time, keep it crafty!

 

 

LOVE THIS DUDE SO | LEGENDARY | GWEN WRUCK

Hey Creative friends, Gwen here today with some more scrapbook inspiration using the new ‘Legendary’ collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio. I’ve scrapped another pic of my husband for this layout; this one was taken at one of our favourite local restaurants. For this one, I really just wanted to make a page that documents our relationship, I’m so lucky to have him!

The idea for this page actually started with my photo! I know right, that rarely happens for me! I’ve been wanting to scrap this one for a long time as it really captures my husband’s personality. I just love the colour tones in it and I knew it would be perfect for the ‘Legendary’ collection. I pulled out all of the blue and grey tones and found a stack of options, all that would go perfectly.

To start my page, I’ve created a base with some white cardstock from my stash and the ‘Brave Heart’ pattern paper. I’ve used it to create a border around my page as well as a photo mat for my picture. I’ve then gone about finding a cut file that would fit in with my ‘love’ theme (TN Geo Heart, from CUT to YOU).

I’ve backed the hearts with the dark blue and light blue blocks of the ‘Total Legend’ paper and the grey heart is the ‘All-Star’ pattern paper. Working with the darkest blue for the top heart and then the light grey for the bottom hearts.

At this point, I haven’t stuck anything down or decided on a page design. I knew I wanted to make a longer title element so I needed to sort that first. Going through the ‘Die Cut Title’ elements, I’ve decided on the title “Love this Dude So”… yep, it’s long, so I will need to be clever about how I position it on the page.

For the design of the layout, I decided on keeping everything vertical mainly because my title needed to be stacked in some way and I had the vertical style cut files. It is far easier to work with the elements you have than to try and work around them. Go with the flow I say! I simply played with the layout of the cut file, photo and title elements until I was happy focusing on things running top to bottom on the page.

With my four main elements locked in, it was now just a matter of adding in the embellishment details. For these, I like to work largest to smallest as I audition things. If you leave larger elements too late in the design process they just won’t fit, so it’s a great idea to work with them early on. The large circle piece that says ‘Authentic’ and the ticket element are both from the ‘Die Cut Ephemera’ pack.

I found this very sweet sentiment “to the moon and back” on the ‘Accessory Sticker Sheet’ which was perfect for my photo as well as the banner that says “You’re pretty Rad”. I like to add foam behind the stickers for added dimension on my page. I’ve also pulled the tab that says ‘Noteworthy’ even though it is orange. To make this work, I’ve added in some orange and blue stars from the ‘Die Cut Ephemera’ pack, I really like the small pop of orange, I think it gives the layout a bit more depth.

The page was now almost complete. I’ve added a flair from the ‘Flair Buttons’ pack and some Typed Sentiments from the ‘Accessory Sticker Sheet’. I’ve added some enamel dots in the centre of each of the star die cuts to finish off the page.
