Hi y’all! Diving into one of my favorite collections today! I absolutely love the bold red and navy in the No Limits collection, so it is one I automatically reach for to scrap photos of my sons. For this photo of my son in his new snarky t-shirt, it was perfect!
I focused primarily on using up a ton of paper scraps on this one! The small stripes of color on the branding strips and 1/4 to 1/3 inch strips leftover from previous layouts were layered together to create a fun, colorful background on the Spark patterned paper.
To extend my photo cluster, I tucked in two cut apart pieces from the A5 paper stack to the right side of the photo. To give the photo more presence on the page, I added a frame from the ephemera pack that I cut in half and wedged in on either side of the photo cluster. Then, I finished it with a light embellishing of stars, cut apart phrases, and a chipboard title for a finishing touch!
I hope this layout inspires you to try and use up those tiny paper scraps and branding strips floating around your stash! If you’d like to see how “You’re Epic” came together, check out the process video below!
Hello crafty friends! I feels like ages since I created a CVS boy layout, so here is one for all those who need some boy layout inspiration! I have used the still awesome No Limits
I found a fab pie chart cut file from the Silhouette design store. I cut it twice, one slightly smaller than the other and then layered over each other. I used the Spark paper as my base/background paper and added the pie graph cut file. I used Orbit paper for the larger pie graph and Universal paper for the smaller one.
I next added my 6×4 inch landscape photo but before adhering to the centre of the pie graph I added two paper pieces/strips to the top and bottom of my photo. I used the star paper from the A5 paper pad as the patterns are printed smaller.
I used some elements from the Ephemera die cut pack, placing them is a way that your eye is drawn to the centre of the pie graph. You can see here I added some enamel dots behind die cuts that I had used foam tape to attatch.
I added phrase sentiment stickers over my die cut titles, which when your title is large (or words) you can add your journalling in this way.
Lastly I created a journal space by making another embellishment cluster, the epoxy wooden buttons are still available on the shop (https://cocoavanilla.com.au/shop/no-limits-wood-epoxy-buttons/) I have added extra stars around the edge of my base paper, using die cuts and enamel ones to add texture.
Blue, black and grey really are the most fab colours for a boy layout! With this colour combo you can add almost any coloured photo and it will work.
Thanks as always for stopping by and see you soon!
It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new layout created using the awesome No Limits collection!
I haven’t created a boy layout for a while and I have lots of the awesome No Limits collection! I grabbed a sweet black and white photo of my youngest son and got to work creating!
I chose the awesome Spark paper for my main background, trimmed this piece down to measure 11′ x 11′ inches and then adhered it to the ‘B’ side of the Latitude paper
I then bent the edges up to create some texture and shadows on my page. I decided on a round design for this layout and took a dinner plate and pencil and lightly traced a circle with the dinner plate. I knew I wanted to add lots of the ephemera around the outside edge. This is a great way to use up lots of leftovers or little bits and pieces you may have laying around and don’t really know what to do with!
Before adding all of the ephemera and embellishments around the circle I wanted to get my photo in its place, as it is a large element and the main focal point of my page, this is important to me to get this part right. I layered one of the 3′ x 4′ pocket cards under the photo and adhered it to the right hand side of the page using craft foam. I did also cut in half one of the round frame die-cuts and tucked a piece in the top and bottom of my photo. For my title, I adhered another of the cool pocket cards with the words Fun Fun Fun! I also layered one of the phrase stickers from the accessory sticker sheet on top.
My favourite part when I create a layout is the embellishing! What’s yours?
Once my photo and title were added it was time to add all the embellishments around the drawn circle. I used a mixture of ephemera, chipboard, wood epoxy buttons, puffy stickers and accessory stickers. I adhered them all down around the circle using different types of adhesives. The chipboard I used a wet glue (even though these have their own adhesive, I like to add more as extra), the ephemera I used double sided tape and foam tape to give different dimension heights. I was careful to place similar colour elements away from each other, this helps creating a visual triangle on my page.
It was so fun to arrange all the elements around the circle, I placed larger embellishments first and then added smaller ones in between. To the right of my photo I stamped the date stamp using black ink and my date stamp. Lastly I sprinkled some black mist to finish my layout.
A little bit of sad news to share today as we say farewell (again) to one of our beloved team – Lina Monaco. Lina has been a treasured member of our Cocoa Vanilla Studio family for many years, having been a team member twice now after we wooed her back to do another tour with us. Unfortunately for us however, life is just way too busy now for Lina to keep up with everything, so we have to wave goodbye.
So let’s take another look at some of Lina’s recent projects that she created for us. First up, a beautiful layout featuring a photo of the lady of the hour herself along with her husband, and using our ‘Storyteller’ collection…
Lina loves working with bright colours, so next up we are sharing a gorgeous mixed media layout featuring our ‘Sunkissed’ collection…
One of the things we love about Lina is her versatility – she can rock a boy layout just as well as she can rock a girl one. Here’s a gorgeous one she created using ‘No Limits’…
And to round things out, we couldn’t resist sharing this layout that Lina created for our Throwback Thursday featuring one of her all-time favourite collections, ‘Bohemian Dream’. (I think this collection can be found on a lot of people’s favourite list!)
Lina – thank you SO much for all the amazing inspiration you have shared with us over the years and for being such a great ambassador for Cocoa Vanilla Studio. You’ll always be part of the family. We love you and wish you all the best!
Hello everyone. It’s Anna here with another layout. This time it won’t be anything christmas related (I already put “Joyful” collection away). I reached for “No limits” collection to scrapbook fresh photo of my hubby, who recently got glasses. It’s a semi new look for him as he didn’t wear ones for years. And as a good family paparazzi, I snapped photo of him. Now it’s time to scrapbook it!
As I mentioned, I reached for a masculine “No limits” collection. This line is full of pretty patterns in many saturated colors and fun textures. I started with choosing quite solid, teal blue background paper. Next step was to cut the big glasses and part of the title – word “trending” – using my digital die cutting machine. Glasses are made with black cardstock and big word is cut with orange pattern paper called “Spark”.
After adding photo, I embellished the area around it with some ephemera pieces from Ephemera Pack and some stickers from 12*6 Sticker Sheet.
This line doesn’t come with seperate alpha stickers, but I reached for the Word Phrases Pack and hand cut separate letters. This is a fun trick to use up as many elements from the pack as possible. I was never able to finish the whole pack with so many phrases to choose from.
Last step was to add some smaller elements here and there, including small “planets” from Chipboard Stickers pack and some Wood Epoxy Buttons. I also splashed everything with black ink almost ruining the finished page. My bottle of ink is almost empty so I tilted it to the side to reach the bottom easier. I overdid it, spilling a big blob of ink onto my orange title. After a moment of panic, I figured out that I can cut only letter R from the same orange paper and glue it down on top of the blob. You can still see some ink under the letter but it doesn’t catch the eye so much. Layout saved!
That is all for today my Friends. Thank you so much for stopping by and see you soon!
Hello Paperlovers, Welcome to the Cocoa Vanilla blog today! Great to see you again on the blog where I explain more about my layout that I created with the amazing collection “No Limits“I love creating a background with ink. You can use almost any stamp ink for this technique. I often use Distress Oxide for mixed media background. For this mixed media background I used three different colors. I took a kitchen sponge and moisten the sponge. Then I applied the ink with a stamping motion to the white cardstock. I repeat this technique just as many times until I am happy with the mixed media background. For some extra demension, I applied a few splatters and used a water color brush.
I have used a cutfile by Paige Evans. I really love this gorgeous wreath so much. With my sewing machine I stitch the cutfile on top of the mixed media background circle.
I decorate the wreath cutfile with die-cuts, wooden buttons, word die-cuts and stars. I find decorating my layout to be one of the most fun things to do. I add a light blue stitch border to the large word die-cuts. I love stitching details in my projects and use my sewing machine quite a lot.
I cut the picture of the beautiful glaciers we went to last summer into a circle. I also choose orange patterned paper cut it into a circle and place it behind the photo. Then I add a stitch border to the circle edge.
For the title I chose different alphabet sets and created a title around the photo. When I make long titles I usually choose a circle so you have all the space you need.
I hope I was able to give you some great ideas and wish you lots of fun creating beautiful projects with this beautiful and colorful collection! I want to thank you for stopping by on the blog today!
Happy crafting and have fun!
Welcome to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog and Happy New Year! So glad to see you here.
It’s Jo and today I show you my first scrapbook layout for Cocoa Vanilla Studio of 2023!!
One of my absolutely favorite collections is “No Limits” and I think this collection is perfect for a Happy New Year scrapbook layout.
I start with a white piece of cardstock and cut out one big star shape with my “Cricut Maker”I used a standard star shape cutfile from Cricut. I choose a wood colored patterned paper and place it behind the white cardstock with the cut out large star. I stitch the edges of the star with light blue sewing thread.
I cut out some more stars from different pattern papers and I stitch the edges with light blue sewing thread. I place the stars in different places on the layout. I cut patterned paper to
size and place it behind the black and white photo. I place the photo on top of the stars and slide some more labels between the layers.
I grab a pair of scissors and fussy cut a few extra stars from the patterned paper. As you can see, I also used some patterned paper from Legendary. So great to see that both collections combine perfectly with each other. For the small circles I used a reinforcer punch. Along with the stars, I decorate the layout.
The title “Hey hello Awsome 2023” on the right side of the photo consists of several die-cuts, word strip and a silver alphabet from Thickers. I find it a fun and playful effect to combine a title with different alphabets, die-cuts or word strips. My layout is done and for a festive look I splashed some more with blue distress ink “faded jeans” and white gesso. This adds just a little extra dimension to my layout and I love it.
I hope I was able to give you some great ideas and wish you lots of fun creating beautiful projects with this beautiful and colorful collection! I want to thank you for stopping by on the blog today!
Happy crafting and have fun!
It’s Kel here today, back sharing a page for you using the ‘No Limits’ collection, and you may be surprised to find I have created quite a mixed media back ground which isnt typically my thing….not because I dont like it, but because I worry that I will mess it up! So here is my version of mess .. but with control!
To start my page, I grabbed a 12 x 12 brick stencil and used 4 different shades of blue with my distress oxides through the stencil, working my way from lightest to darkest down my page. When that was done, I decided I wanted the bricks to look a bit more textural, so I added water with a paintbrush over the bricks (again, I was in control… LOL), and added a bit of stamping to some of the bricks as well! Next I cut all the bricks out leaving a small white border then popped them onto black cardstock to really make them pop! In this picture you can see the cool effect water has with oxide ink…
I also added some of the bricks onto foam so they looked more dimensional…
I backed my photos on a bunch of the patterned papers and distressed the edges to help lift my photo from the page. The main embellishments I used were stars.. some from the die cut pack, some chipboard, and some I fussy cut from the patterned paper.
For my title, I wanted to use the word die cuts as I love how bold they are, and I needed something that was going to stand out from the background….love them!
That’s it for me today, I hope you found some inspiration and enjoyed my share.
How lovely of you to visit the Cocoa Vanilla blog today I love to see you here. For this boy themed layout I really wanted to work with the fantastic collection “No Limits”
This photo of my son is from quite a few years ago but the colors and his cute little face fit this collection wonderfully well. For this layout I was inspired by a sketch by Lottie Loves Paper that I found on Pinterest. I love using a sketch. It can give you just that creative push you need at that moment.
I took a 12×12 white cardstock paper and choose six of my fave design papers form the “No Limits” collection. I cut out six 3-inch circles and provide the edges of the circles with a stitch edge. I choose white sewing thread and use my sewing machine. Then I cut a half circle in the circles and fold them over. See picture…..
As also shown on the sketch, I am stitching a grid pattern on my layout. I choose dark blue sewing thread for the grid design. The dark blue is also reflected in the title as in the photo.
I cut two larger circles from the patterned paper and stitch the edges with white sewing thread. I also cut my son’s picture into a circle and place the circles on top of each other.
I fussy cut several stars from the pattern paper and created a cluster of stars on the top right and bottom left of the layout. In this way, I create a diagonal design.
The awesome bold and cool words from the die-cut titles are perfect to use for a title. The title for this layout will be ” Hello Cool Kid” under the die-cut title I fold some extra dark blue sewing thread.
I complete the title with some extra word strips that I added with a black line by using my fine liner.
I placed a few extra embellishments like wooden buttons, puffy stickers and cardstock embellishments to decorate my boys layout. Finally I give my layout some white gesso splatters. And for a little more color I add some dark blue splashes. I choose the color Distress Oxide “faded jeans” I love ink and gesso splatters on my projects. It looks festive and creative and I love that so much!
I hope I’ve given you some fun and cool ideas and that it can also be helpful for you as well to use a sketch sometimes. Love to see you next time on the blog and social with a new scrapbook project! Can’t wait to see your beautiful scrapbook inspiration on the Cocoa Vanilla FB groep! Happy creating and I wish you a fun and crafty day friends!
Hello, hello! It’s Anna here again and today I have fun, travel themed inspiration for you. Good news – it has zero dogs involved :) This time I wanted to scrapbook a selfie photo of my family we took visiting London few years back (I can’t belive it was so long ago as it seems like yesterday). Photo was already printed and wandering around my desk for a while so I though it’s time to scrapbook it finally. As CVS doesn’t have any specific travel themed collection, I reached for the lines that have colors that would match the picture. It’s quite muted with a lot of earth tones so I focused on masculine lines. No pink this time!
I started with the newest one called “No limits” picking pattern papers for the background – wooden “Big bang” and grey “Universal“. With the second one I cut out the map background using digita die cutting machine. It reminded me of a busy city London is. Sfter all three basic layers were combined, it was time to add photo. It has white frame so I needed some contrastic colors under it to make the picture pop.
That’s why I added yellow and blue using A5 Paper stack. This is such a great product – it hold some extra patterns for even more fun with collection and you can use them for mini albums and cards too. You get 30 sheets in total – 2 of each designs and they are loose so there is no glue attaches to the one side, which is sometimes hard to remove. After the photo was glued down, I started building composition around it. It’s the moment I reached for some older CVS collections and my leftovers stash. You can find ephemera pieces and stickers from “Legendary”, “You rock” and “Boys rule”. This is the beauty of Cocoa Vanilla lines – you can easily mix and match them!
My title was also created with an old set of alpha stickers. they are not being added to the collections anymore but I still have my own stash and I love reaching out to it. Alpha stickers came in two different sizes – with bigger letters and some with smaller letters. I mixed two of them here. I also dug up my stash of wooden elements, that were a part of older collections. I loved them so much and I was saving them for the future (as many of us does with favorite items). It’s finally time to let them go. But worry not – I still have a little basket of them :) They will last me till the end of time.
This kind of layout is my favorite – where I can combine new and old, giving older stash a new life. If also helps me spread the collection even if I am running out of embellishemnts. Last step in making this page was adding some flair buttons (also from my dearly saved stash) and splashing everything with yellow and orange mists.
That is all for today my Friends! Thank you so much for stopping by and see you in two weeks.
