Hi creative friends!

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a sweet layout created with the gorgeous These Days collection!

I am documenting a lovely photo of my sister and our Mum together from a few years ago.

I started my layout by choosing a cut file from CUT to YOU and cut it out from the Good Life patterned paper, I was careful to have the heart placed in the centre of the paper so that it would leave the 12′ x 12′ paper in tact but just with a big heart cut out of it! I trimmed down a sheet of plain white cardstock and adhered this to the heart paper, being sure not to place adhesive here the heart was cut out.

I chose a variety of the patterned papers from the A5 paper stack and backed all the spaces in the heart with all of the different papers. I used up lots of this paper pack for this layout! I love how the heart looks with all of the papers backed in the spaces. Once the heart was all backed, I added craft foam underneath the cut file and then adhered it to the white cardstock background. Next I added one of the super cute gold puffy hearts to the centre of the heart cut out in the cut file.

I placed my photo over to the right and on top of the cut file, layering one of the 3′ x 4′ pocket cards under the photo to help enhance the photo and make it stand out from all the gorgeous colours in the various papers. My title is the small card to the left of my photo, I cut this out from the A5 paper stack. I also added the Hello banner sticker above the title as well. I just had to add some of the gorgeous florals from the floral ephemera pack, I tucked these in both on the left and on the right of the photo. I added more die-cuts here too and some phrase stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet too.

Above the photo, I adhered the Happy die-cut title and at the bottom I tucked in one of the tab stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet. I stamped the date stamp on this tab. Around the outside edge of the heart, I added some of the gorgeous puffy hearts from the Puffy Stickers, I love how these look scattered around the large heart. A few more die-cuts like the butterflies and the tea cup finished off the embellishing of my layout and one of the last things added was one of the Wood Epoxy buttons.

Party time | These days Layout | Anna Komenda

Hello everyone. It’s Anna here with my newest layout. As I am waiting impatiently to dive into brand new and recently released new line called “Happy days”, I pulled out some older but still pretty collection from my stash called “These days”. If you do not have it yet, there are still plenty of elements available in CVS store and they have some crazy awesome prizes! So go quickly and grab it while you still can.

I scrapbooked picture I took the same day (totally fresh from the oven!) of my two girls getting ready for a birthday party. They are recently in the phase they both like dark (preferably black) colors so this mama is missing all the pink and pastel photos so much. That’s why using “These days” with it’s muted colors was a great choice.

I started with cutting out big letters from a word PARTY with my digital die cutting machine using “Family ties” paper. This colorful pattern has all the colors present in this collection. I arranged my letters on the white cardstock and used my pencil to gently sketch an outlines of them.

Next step was chosing five different colors of Distress Inks and blending them under each letter stepping out ot the lines a little bit, to create sort of colorful shadow. The final result is very subtle, exaclty how I intended it to be. I still have plenty of flowers in my Floral Ephemera pack, so I picked a few adding them color on color (matching the inky shadow witht the flowers). Before I started glueing them down, I added a layer of foam tape under each letter for more dimension.

I love all the papers with elements that can be fussy cut from them, like flowers or butterflies. I always buy more than one paper and I can make myself plenty of extra ephemera pieces. It can strech your collection so much more. This was the case with beautiful “Take flight” paper filled with butterflies. I cut out few of them and added them on top of the letters. I also reached for Ephemera Pack and found more matching elements to tuck under the letters.

With my title almost done, it was time to finally add my photo. I had a perfect spot in the bottom left corner. Before glueing it down, I backed the picture with cute pattern paper with hearts called “Good life”. All I had to do was to add some smalled puffy stickers, clear stickers and 6*12 stickers here and there. I also finished my title adding word “time” using super cute puffy alpha stickers.

And voila! The page is done. Another memory scrapbooked! That is all for today. Don’t forget about the great discount on “These days” collection, that is waiting for you in CVS Shop! I am sure it’s not the last time I am reaching for this amazing line.

Love Grows Here | These Days collection | Sophie Delorme

Hey Cocoa Vanilla friends!

It’s Sophie here and I am so exciting to share this new layout with you!

 

 

 

This week’s theme is all about florals! Heaven!!! It clearly is my all-time favorite embellishment!

I used the beautiful These Days collection for my page.

I decided to do three cascades of flowers around my black and white photo.

I fixed three white embroidery threads of different lengths with a brad on a thick white cardstock. I punched tiny holes on each flower that I planned to use. They come from the Floral Ephemera pack and some are also fussy cut out of the “Home Grown” patterned paper.

I strung the flowers on the threads in descending order to create the cascades and fixed each of them with adhesive to make sure that they stay in place.

 

I added many tiny flowers and leaves scattered around the cascades as well.

I used a simple title cut out of “The Good Life” paper.

 

I placed a strip of the “Pretty Posies” paper and a scalloped strip of white cardstock at the base of the layout to ground everything, and handwrote my journaling.

This was fun to make!! And although it might look sophisticated, it was a very simple way to highlight the beauty of these pretty florals!

Hello Beautiful | Happiness collection | Sue Plumb

Hi everyone, it’s Sue Plumb here to share another design team project with you. For today’s post I was tasked with scraplifting the amazingly talented Sophie Delorme, which was simultaneously exciting, but terrifying. It’s no secret I have a huge scrappy crush on Sophie’s work, so to be asked to scraplift one of her layouts was no easy feat. How would I ever choose? Or do it justice? In the end, I chose a stunning autumnal themed layout that she created a few months ago using the ‘These Days’ collection.

And here is my take on it using the ‘Happiness’ collection…

I have to admit, the clincher that made me choose this particular layout of Sophie’s was the butterflies. And I couldn’t help but reach for the collection with my all-time favourite Cocoa Vanilla butterflies – ‘Happiness’. I think I will actually cry the day I use my last scraps of this collection.

Sophie and I have daughters that are very close in age, so just like Sophie did for her layout, I wanted to document a photo of my gorgeous girl too. Due to her position, where she was facing towards the left side of the photo I chose to mirror the design so I could position my photo closer to the left edge of the page and having her facing inwards. (Tip: always position your photos so the main subject is facing towards the larger space on your page.)

Just like Sophie’s original, I added torn paper along the bottom edge of the page; and instead of the Pocket Cards that she had used across the middle, I used pieces of patterned paper cut to size. I chose the piece with the two large butterflies and hello beautiful on it to act as my title card, which was cut from the cut apart paper. On top of the the heart paper I added some of the phrase stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet, which I had mounted onto some pink paper to give them a little definition against the background.

From the torn paper along the bottom edge, I added fussy cut flowers spilling out and winding their way up along the right edge of the photo. these were layered to give them depth and I used foam tape under the one on the corner of the photo for even more dimension. I couldn’t help but add a little frayed gauze for some texture too.

The only item I used on my page that wasn’t from the ‘Happiness’ collection, was the small wood button that was actually from the ‘Sunkissed’ collection. ‘Happiness’ did not have wood buttons, and as Sophie had used one on her page I wanted to include one too. I also wanted to add a couple of embellishments to my photo, so I chose a small heart flag and a phrase banner from the Die Cut Ephemera pack.

I substituted the journalling from Sophie’s layout with a couple of paint swatch stickers from the Clear Sticker sheet and I like the mixed media touch they gave the page. The star of the embellishment show however, was the glorious burst of fussy cut butterflies spilling upwards from the title card. I bent their wings up from the page to give them dimension and a sense of movement. The final touch was some small splatters of navy mist (because I couldn’t have my layout too clean, could I?)

Happy Mother’s Day to you all! Today I am sharing a layout created to celebrate my wonderful mother. I have used These Days collection.

I have used the wonderful ready made mixed media background paper Daybreak paper. I cut my title first so I could position it and see where I would add my butterflies that I intended to add. This title cut file is available from the Silhouette design store. I cut varying sizes of butterflies using Pretty Posies paper and added with foam tape to add dimension.

I matted my photo using a paper from the A5 paper pad, yellow plaid. My photo is 3.5×3.5 inch photo and added with foam tape.

Then it was time to add embellishments! You can see I used a Pocket Card next to my photo. I used die cuts,  puffy stickers and wood epoxy buttons to embellish. To lift my title I added the small puffy stickers. I tucked the mother/daughter die cut in-between the pocket card and photo. I used foam tape on many of the embellishments to add more dimension.

I used a black and white photo of my mother and I so it would add a stark contrast against the wonder colours of These Days papers.

Hello creative Paperlovers,

Welcome to the Cocoa Vanilla blog today! It’s Josefine here showing you a new scrapbook layout. My assignment for this layout is, use an older Cocoa Vanilla collection. I chose the “These Days” collection. The beautiful soft colors match perfectly with the spring weather that is coming.This photo of my son has been a while. But his dreamy look he still has. I enjoy seeing these moments reflected in photos. They are beautiful and happy memories that I like to use for my scrapbook projects.Today I’m going to tell you how I made this layout.

I grab a 12×12 white cardstock paper and choose the colors of Distress Oxide I want to use. The colors I chose are, antique linen, fossilized amber, worn lipstick and spiced marmalade. I start by blending the Distress Oxides and use my blending tools. I start with the color antique linen. Then fossilized amber, spiced marmalade and lastly worn lipstick. I gently blend the colors together and the soft tones in my background come more and more to life. I splash some more with the different colors of distress oxides. Now it’s time to decorate my layout with the awesome collection “These Days” and the cute picture of my son.

I cut three hexagons from the pattern paper and stitched the edges with gold sewing thread. I also cut the photo into the shape of a hexagon. I placed the hexagons in the center of my mixed media background and begin making clusters around the hexagons.

I used different metal dies sets for the leaves and twigs. Some leaves I stitch with gold and white sewing thread. I like lots of little different details in my layouts. I select several die-cuts and along with the leaves and twigs I make clusters on both sides of the hexagons. I use the cute wooden buttons as additional decoration.

I combine the title for this layout with the black foam words and the colored mini alpha set. I find it fun and playful to make titles with different alpha sets. The title for this layout is “Love this cute face”. It is now time for my signature and splash some white splatters around with white gesso that I mixed with a little water. I love the festive effect the white splatters give.

I also splash some water droplets on my mixed media background. I let them soak in the Distress Oxide ink for a while and then I dab the drops with a piece of kitchen roll. I love the effect of water splashes on the oxide background!

I hope I was able to inspire you with this mixed media layout today. I had a lot of fun creating the mixed media background. Scrap Lift Yourself! | These Days Collection | Rachel Lowe

Hello CVS crafty friends! Have you ever scrap lifted yourself? I have done it in the past when I am in a mojo rut, it’s a great way to get your creating going again, or perhaps its just a layout that you designed and loved so why not, do it again! Today I am sharing a layout created using These Days collection, which is a scrap lift of a layout I created using Sunkisssed collection.

Here is the original layout:

And here is my second take! I love the fact that no two layouts ever look the same when you scrap lift, they still look original. I chose a family theme for this layout. So my patterned papers stood out I used the Pretty Posies paper using the wood grain side. I gave a light splatter of white paint. I then used Take Flight, Home Grown and Family Ties papers to create my horizontal torn strips.

I chose a butterfly cut file for this layout to replace the origami heart. I cut it three time and only glued the centre to give it a 3D effect. I used Neighbourhood and The Good Life papers. I then added my 6×4 inch landscape photo matting it and adding with foam tape to add dimension.

My next step was to add flowers and florals like I did in my original layout. I used the Floral Ephemera pack and added to each side of my photo. I layered some on top of each other so they didn’t appear ‘flat’. I created an embellishment cluster to the right of my photo using the Die Cut Ephemera, Puffy Stickers and Wood Epoxy Buttons.

I created my title using phrases from the die cut pack and finished off with another wood epoxy button.

Lastly I added word stickers from the Accessory Stickers to create a sub title around the wing of the butterfly.

I love how my scrap lift layout turned out, I hope it inspires you to give it a try too!

Hi everyone, it’s Sue Plumb here today to share my latest design team project with you.

This week we are doing a scraplift theme with a twist, as the team have been tasked with scraplifting ourselves! I have to admit, it was a great excuse to look back over some of my Cocoa Vanilla projects from years gone by, but the task of choosing one was a bit like choosing a favourite child. In the end I decided on a layout from back in November 2018. It was created for the “Throwback Thursday” feature and I used the ‘Life is Beautiful’ collection, which was actually released back in Cocoa Vanilla’s first year back in 2015. This collection remains one of my all-time faves, and I still have some of it lovingly hoarded in my stash.

Here is my original layout…

For once, I actually scraplifted a layout and stuck pretty much to the original design. This was partly because I wanted to see if it would hold up to the test of time, but it was also because I was sick with COVID and was lacking in mojo and energy. So this scraplift couldn’t have come at a better time for me.

Here is my new layout using the gorgeous ‘These Days’ collection…

As you can see, I stuck very closely to my original design. I chose to document a photo of myself and my family in front of our new house that we recently purchased, and I knew this collection would be perfect for it. In particular, it was the Neighbourhood paper with all the sweet little houses that I had in mind. I combined this with the spotty print of the Take Flight paper and some strips of the pretty orange leafy pattern of the Wall of Fame paper as the base of my design. To add texture, I lightly distressed the outer edges of my papers.

With papers in place, it was time to start working on the other components. I decided to add two elements that I include on most of my current layouts that were missing from the original page – frayed gauze and a paper doily. I opted for a dark charcoal doily to tie in with the black of my photo, and I layered them on the background before sticking my photo on top.

Alongside my photo, I added the no place like home 3×4″ card from the Pocket Cards pack; whilst the oh happy day quote along the bottom edge of the photo was from the cut apart The Good Life paper.

I used pieces from the Floral Ephemera pack as the basis for my embellishment and title clusters. I added foam tape behind some of the flowers as I layered them, and I also bent the petals up away from the page to add dimension. In the cluster around the bottom left corner of my photo I added one of the Wood Epoxy Buttons to mimic the flair button from the original layout.

For the title cluster above my photo, I used the word home from the Foam Title Stickers, flowers from the Floral Ephemera pack and the small sweet flag from the Die Cut Ephemera pack. Being the butterfly lover I am, and also as a nod to all the butterflies on my original page, I couldn’t resist adding one of the butterflies (also from the ephemera pack).

A few finishing touches included a label from the Accessory Sticker sheet for my journalling and the date; small hearts from the Puffy Stickers pack added to my photo; and some small splatters of black ink around the page.

Disco Day | These Days collection | Sue Plumb

Hi everyone, Sue Plumb here to share my latest design team project with you.

For this one I decided to pull out my supplies of the beautiful ‘These Days’ collection as I still have plenty in my stash left to play with and was dying to use it again. I also had a sweet photo of my boys together that I took last year when they were heading off to their first school disco. Although they might be twins, you can see that they are very different and both have their own individual styles, which I thought was summed up quite well in this shot.

Despite the fact this range has quite a broad palette of soft colours, I decided to focus on predominantly the blue and green tones combined with the wood grain for my background. Before I moved onto my papery layers however, I really wanted to add some depth to the background by adding some paint and stamping. I used a white paint applied with a brayer, which also helped me to define the focal area of my page. Over the top of the paint, I used a brick pattern stamp with a grey ink.

For the papery layers over my background, I used a few papers from the A5 Paper Stack which I cut and tore to size. I also added a grey paper doily from my stash, a strip from the cut apart paper, and some frayed gauze for texture. My photo also had some scrap cardboard adhered to the back of it to help pop it up from the page.

For my embellishments, I started with the Die Cut Ephemera pack. I chose a doodled frame first, which I cut in half and tucked half in under the right edge of my photo. I often use frames in this way (cut into pieces and tucked into layers) as opposed to the way they were designed to be used. I also chose the stack of books from the ephemera pack as I thought this worked well with the fact it was a school disco the boys attended.

I used the gorgeous Mini Puffy Alpha stickers for my title, as I didn’t want to detract from all the delicate elements I had on the page. I love these alphas sooo much, they are a perfect size and such a pretty mix of colours. Along with the puffy alphas, I also added some of the Puffy Stickers to my page – a heart, a flower and a butterfly (because you can never have too many butterflies!)

There were plenty of regular Accessory Stickers on this page too – you can see how I used the tab and flag amongst the cascade of embellishments alongside my photo, and there were several phrase stickers used as well. From the Clear Stickers sheet I used three small clusters of crosses and a green brush stroke. This coordinated beautifully with the green Epoxy Wood Button that I also included.

I finished off my layout with handwritten journalling; stamped phrases and date; and some black stamped doodled circles and dots.

Fall day | These Days Layout | Anna Komenda

Hello, hello! Welcome Cocoa Vanilla friends. It’s Anna here with my newest page made with “These days” collection. I am still waiting for a brand new christmas line to come to my other side of Earth so I have more time to scrapbook fall photos. Although this collection isn’t exactly fall themed, warm colors make it very easy to combine them with red, yellow and dark green of Polish autumn. Versatility is always the great feature of all CVS lines! Zoe knows hot to design them the way they match many themes and many photos.

This time I had a picture of my older daughter Gabrysia feeding the squirell. In one of the parks we like to visit those cute little creatures are tame enough to take nuts directly from the palm of the hand. My girls love it so much and mamarazzi also like it :) I created very simple and easy to make page.

I picked papers in warm colors like this “Home grown” pattern with flowers on one side and whimsy squares on the other. I love both sides so I decided to fold the corner of the paper to showcase two of them. Lacking triangle was filled with piece of “Daybreak” paper. Next step was to add chosen photo with a layer of cardboard for more dimension.

I gathered few flowers from Floral ephemera pack and some small elements from Ephemera pack and added them around the photo. I would say it’s my signature style thing – I don’t like empty space around photos so I always try to tuck some tabs or flowers behind them. I also found few trees and added them to the mix too.

Bottom part of the page felt empty and needed little something to be added to maintain the balance of the layout. It was a good spot for title, that I made combining Alpha stickers and Foam phrases. I removed the letter “s” from word DAYS to better fit my needs. Don’t be shy with altering stickers or other premade elements. Even though they seem “ready” they are only a starting point and you can change the colors, cut them into smaller pieces – whatever suits you. I like to fussy cut smaller elements from bigger ephemeras or stickers!

My last step was to add super cute wooden buttons and splash everything with yellow and orange mist. Little mess always adds this unique touch to the page.
