Welcome back to the CVS blog friends…hope you are doing well!
It’s Kellie here, and today I’m sharing a page with this months prompt of ‘Spring.’ For my page, I have used a lot of the ‘Daydream’ collection with a bit of ‘Storyteller’ thrown in…. here it is!
To start my page, I used the paper from ‘Daydream’ that is a white with a black dot….this is a great paper to use as a background as it’s not too busy. Next I decided to look through my cutfiles to see what I had that would help represent spring…and this one from Confessions of a Paper Addict with the suns, rainbows and clouds was perfect! To back the cutfile I used a bunch of the papers from both Daydream and Storyteller and added in some plain vellum for the clouds as they give a nice, soft effect. For the centre of the suns, I made some shaker pockets with some yellow/gold sequins.
To add some more colour to my page I used some distress oxides behind different spots of my cutfile to enhance the design.
For my title I used some yellow alphas from my stash and the word ‘Days’ is from the Daydream ephemera. I love using different fonts in my titles!
I love the florals in the Daydream collection so I used these next to my title and on the right hand side of my picture. I also added some butterflies around my page….
I hope you enjoyed my ‘Spring’ inspired page today and you are having fun with your Cocoa Vanilla products.
Hey y’all! Laura Alberts back again with baseball photos! Today’s prompt was spring or fall and I chose spring! Here in the United States spring is devoted to baseball, particularly spring training. I decided to up the ante with some floral hexagons to push that ‘spring’ feel even further. I have included some backed hexagon cut files from Liz Longest Designs and added some punched hexagons using the A5 paper stack. By puzzling them together, I created hexagon florals that trailed up my layout.
Each of my photos is show-cased inside of the these florals, which gives them an opportunity to shine! My photos are 3×2 inches and fit perfectly inside of these shapes. I love every chance to break out my punches and I find them to be the most versatile tool in my scraproom! Added to these hexagons are small embellishments like fussy cut cameras, wood buttons, and ephemera icons.
For my title, I tucked in a phrase from the foam titles set and added some of the little black foam hearts to the end of my title, as well as to each of the photos. This helps spread that darker color around the page, so that the title doesn’t stand out quite as much. I always prefer to have most of the focus on my photos. To finish this layout off, I added butterfly trails with gold Nuvo drops and then splattered around my cluster with gold ink spray.
I hope this layout inspires you to break out your punches and experiment with puzzling together the shapes into something new! If you’d like to see how ‘Love From the Heart’ came together, check out the process video below!
Mandy here today to share another layout featuring the gorgeous Storyteller collection! For this layout, I decided to scrapbook a couple of photos from a day that Isaac and I spent at the zoo a couple of years ago. It was such a great day, and I wanted to document how much I enjoyed spending the day with him. The Storyteller collection was perfect for this page, and I love the way that I was able to focus on more of the blues & greens in the collection for this layout. And I don’t mind using a floral cluster or two on a boy layout either!
To start the layout off, I trimmed a sheet of white cardstock down to 11 inches square and matted it on the blue Ditsy Daisy paper.
Next I chose a selection of papers from the A5 Paper Stack and cut them down to 1 inch x 4 inches and arranged them across the bottom of the white cardstock. As I mentioned, I tried to stick mostly to the blues, greens and woodgrain as I thought these would complement the photos nicely. I then added a piece of the yellow Little Love paper along the top edge of the strips, along with a border that I punched from white cardstock. This added some nice detail and also provided a ‘ledge’ for the photos to sit on.
I printed two 3 x 4″ photos and matted them on the woodgrain paper from the A5 Paper Stack. I also chose a 3 x 4″ card and positioned it between the two photos. This also became the title for my layout. I adhered the photos and card with craft foam to give them all some extra dimension.
Once my background was done and my photos were in place I was ready to embellish! Of course I couldn’t resist fussy cutting one of the gorgeous floral clusters out of the Spring Fling paper! I adhered this below the photos on the left hand side of the page. I also added one of the Wood Epoxy Buttons to the floral cluster to give some more texture to the page.
To balance out this floral cluster, I added another embellishment cluster in the top right hand corner of the layout. This gives the page a diagonal flow, drawing the viewers eye from the larger cluster, up through the photos, to the one at the top of the page. In this cluster I included some items from the Die Cut Ephemera pack, including a banner, a floral cluster and a butterfly. I also added another Wood Epoxy Button as I like to repeat similar elements in each of my clusters.
I finished the layout off with some typed journaling and a sprinkling of Puffy Stickers.
Thank you so much for joining me here on the blog today. I hope that you’ve found some inspiration!
It’s Tarrah McLean back here on the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog with you and today I am sharing a new scrapbook layout featuring the stunning Storyteller collection.
I think this is now my 8th layout created using this gorgeous collection! Do you have this collection yet?
I am documenting 2x photos of myself with some of my fun girlfriends, choosing to create a grid style design.
I first pulled out all the horizontal pocket cards that would suit the way I wanted my photos placed, I mixed them up and layered some underneath others and also layered some of them under my photos too, Once I was happy with how they looked, I took a piece of plain white cardstock and adhered them all down staying with that grid style. I was so happy that the pocket card that reads ‘It’s A Good Day to Have a Good Day’ was a horizontal style one as I wanted to use the ‘Together’ word from the foam title stickers, it was perfect to place on that pocket card!
I could not leave the pocket cards blank so I added some embellishments to them all. On the title card, I added a chipboard heart from the Chipboard stickers, a puffy heart sticker from the puffy stickers and a journal sticker from the Accessory Sticker sheet, I stamped the date on the small journal sticker. The pocket card to the right of the title one I added a chipboard piece, 2x banner die-cuts and a puffy heart sticker to the banner piece, I also stapled the banner die-cuts using my tiny attacher.
On the pocket card below the title I added an accessory sticker and adhered a camera ephemera piece over the top using craft foam. I also tucked in a floral die-cut here from the floral ephemera pack. On top of the camera, I adhered one of the super cute wood epoxy buttons. The pocket card above the title I added a chipboard banner piece and a chipboard heart and created a small cluster of flowers and leaves from the floral ephemera pack, I popped up some of the flowers using craft foam and left some without, I like the different heights and dimension this gives my page.
It’s fun to treat each pocket card almost like its only little scrapbook layout! On the top photo one, I stapled a banner sticker from the Accessory Sticker sheet in the top right corner, using my tiny attacher. Doing this is a great way to disguise something you make not like in your photo, treat it as an embellishment opportunity and cover it up as I have in the corner of my photo! In the bottom photo, I added a phrase sticker from the Accessory Sticker sheet to the top of the photo and created another cluster of flowers using florals from the floral ephemera pack, this helps to balance with the cluster I created in top left corner.
Thank you so much for stopping by the Cocoa Vanilla blog today! I love how my layout turned out and I hope you enjoyed reading how I created it!
Make sure to keep an eye on the Cocoa Vanilla online store as the Storyteller collection should be in store really soon!
Hello crafty friends today I am celebrating all things Spring (well if you live in the Southern Hemisphere anyway!), flowers, sun, bare feet and yellow!!! Storyteller is a perfect collection for spring themed layouts.
I firstly created a water colour background effect on my white card stock, using yellow as it reminds me of spring, I then found a cute vase cut file from the silhouette design store. I used Oh My Heart paper to create my vase.
Now for the fun part, I created flowers for my vase using the Floral die cut ephemera pack. I added them with foam tape to add dimension and then tucked in extra leaves and sprigs.
I add a phrase sentiment banner from the die cut ephemera pack on the vase. I chose a wood grain paper from the A5 paper pad to mat my photo.
Next I created my title using a cut file which I cut using Ditsy Daisy paper. I added a camera die cut and added a wood epoxy button to the lens of the camera.
To finish my layout off I went back and added some die cut butterflies and puffy stickers in amongst the flowers and under the butterfly wings.
A simple layout technique wise but visually beautiful with the colour choices and lots of flowers!
Thank you for stopping by today and I will be back later in the month with some more inspiration.
Mandy here with you today to share a new layout featuring the stunning Storyteller collection. This month the design team will be sharing ‘seasonal’ projects inspired by either Spring or Fall. Here in Australia we’re starting to see hints of spring in the air, and the weather is beginning to warm up a little, which is so nice after the cooler winter months. The weather was so lovely last weekend so I decided to take my youngest two on a picnic to enjoy the sunshine. We took some selfies on the day, which were the perfect photos to scrapbook the start of Spring!
To start this layout off, I cut a wreath out of white cardstock using a cut file from the Silhouette Design Store. I decided on using the beautiful woodgrain Cross it Off paper for my background. I had already cut a circle out of the middle of that paper for a previous layout, and by no pre-planning on my part, the wreath cut file happened to fit perfectly around that circle. I love it when things work out like that! I backed the circle with white cardstock as I thought this would allow my photos, title and embellishments to pop.
Once I had adhered the wreath, I added my two photos, one in the top left and the other in the bottom right. I matted the top photo with the yellow Little Love paper and the bottom photo with the pink Oh My Heart paper. I also tucked a few embellishments around the photos using die cuts from the Ephemera pack.
I wanted to build on the wreath cut file with some gorgeous florals to accentuate the ‘Spring’ theme and to add lots of colour to the page. I did this by fussy cutting a couple of floral clusters out of the beautiful Spring Fling paper. I added one in the bottom left and the other in the top right. When I adhered them to the page I only added adhesive to the middle of the floral clusters so that the leaves and sprigs would lift off the page and create some nice dimension.
I added a button to the centre of the larger flower in each floral cluster, the yellow one from the Die Cut Ephemera pack and the red one from the Chipboard Stickers. I fussy cut a few extra little flowers to scatter around the floral clusters and I also added a couple of Puffy Sticker dots around each cluster. These little details help to add some extra interest and make a layout feel complete.
I decided on the phrase ‘Hello Spring’ as the title for this layout. I used the gorgeous Foam Title Stickers for the word ‘Hello’ and then cut the word ‘Spring’ from the green Fly Away paper using another cut file from the Silhouette Design Store. I love the way this title makes a statement without detracting from the photo.
I finished my layout off by adding a couple of butterflies that I fussy cut out of the Fly Away paper as well as some little hearts from the Foam Title Sticker pack.
I hope that you’ve been inspired by my Spring themed layout using the fabulous Storyteller collection, and that you’re enjoying the change of season in whatever part of the world you live in!
Hi everyone, its Melissa here and I’m so happy to be back again with you. This month we are creating with sketches, which is something I love to do! I know some people find it hard to create from a sketch, but I find it a great way to kick start my creative flow. Last week I put a poll up on the Facebook Group asking for people to vote for which collection I should use. Storyteller was the winner, and because of this I decided to choose a sketch by co-creator Traci Reed (of Traci Reed Designs). Here is my layout:
And here is Traci’s super fun sketch:
I decided to use Fly Away for my background torn paper strips. I just love the green colour and the subtle circular patterns. I also fussy cut several butterflies from the other side of the paper to use as embellishments.
I fussy the Love this Life heart from one of the Pocket Life Cards and used it as embellishment. Then I used lots of florals for the pinwheel shapes on the sketch. I love how they look through the central white card stock background. I also embellished with more fussy cut butterflies and Puffy Hearts.
I love using the Foam Title Stickers to make an easy title. I used the word “Together” which was perfect to document Brielle and Ava dressing up and eating watermelon.
I had fun making this layout, and you can watch the video below.
It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new scrapbook layout featuring the STUNNING Storyteller collection. For this project, I had free choice to create whatever I wanted with no theme or anything. I chose to scrap lift one of my friend and fellow design team member Mandy Melville’s gorgeous layouts.
This is the layout I created using the gorgeous Storyteller collection, documenting a pretty photo of a beautiful rose from my Mum’s garden.
This is Mandy’s stunning layout below that she created using the beautiful More Than Words collection.
I decided on the Ditsy Daisy 12′ x 12′ patterned paper as my background paper and took a piece of plain white cardstock and trimmed this piece down to around 8′ x 10′, I then chose the ‘B’ side of the Spring Fling paper to mat under the white cardstock. Like Mandy did on her layout, I decided to machine stitch the white cardstock and the Spring Fling paper together and then I adhered it to the Ditsy Daisy paper. I love the look that machine stitching adds to a layout, I love the texture it gives the page and the extra detail it adds as well.
For the main element where my photo was placed, I created some paper layers underneath the photo using various papers from the A5 paper stack and also tucked in a pocket card for some extra colour and another layer. I did distress some of the papers here to add some texture and I adhered some down using craft foam for some dimension also. Here in the bottom right corner of the photo cluster I tucked in some of the beautiful flowers from the floral ephemera pack, added a banner sticker to the photo from the accessory sticker sheet and also placed a phrase die-cut from the ephemera pack.
On the left of the photo, I created a small floral cluster using some of the florals from the floral ephemera pack and I added a wood epoxy button here to the centre of one of the flowers. In the top right corner of the page. I added the cute banner die-cut piece from the ephemera pack using pop dot adhesive. I love the shadows and dimension this adds to my page. I also took the small frame with hearts die-cut from the ephemera pack and tucked this piece into the top of the photo layers. I like how this peeks out from the top.
I decided to place my title in a similar position to where Mandy had placed hers and also created another small embellishment cluster in the bottom left corner. My title is one of the gorgeous foam title sticker words and I also took a phrase sticker from the accessory sticker sheet and placed it the bottom of the title. You can see in my floral cluster in the bottom left corner that I have adhered some of the florals flat to the page and then I have adhered the red one with some dimensional adhesive, again I love the shadow this creates and the extra interest it brings to my page. I also like to bend the edges of the flowers and leaves to make them look a little more realistic. Some of the smaller details and final things I added to my page were the gorgeous heart puffy stickers and another cute wood epoxy button. The last thing was to stamp my date stamp which is something I always add to my layouts.
Thank you so much for stopping by the Cocoa Vanilla blog today! I love how my scrap lift layout of Mandy’s page turned out and I hope you enjoyed reading how I created it!
Make sure to keep an eye on the Cocoa Vanilla online store as the Storyteller collection should be in store really soon!
Hello crafty friends, today I have another layout based on a sketch. I have used a Page Maps sketch and agin I have gone with a 8.5×11 inch layout. I have gone bright and bold using the new gorgeous Storyteller collection.
I chose a strong background for this layout and I must admit usually I avoid stripes but the Brighter Days paper is wonderful with its large brushstroke strips broken with a little white. I need to use a white based paper next to provide a contrast, I have used the Oh My Heart paper. Before adhering this I added the smaller paper strips at the top and bottom. To be honest I just used some left over paper strips from the A5 paper pad.
Instead of creating a large title as the sketch shows, I chose one of the Pocket Cards, which still is my title but it adds another pretty paper layer. I added some of the heart puffy stickers over the printed hearts to add some definition and dimension to the pocket card.
I used two of the floral pocket cards to mat my photos, one larger floral print and one smaller. I added my photos with foam tape for dimension. I have used the same photo of my daughter and I, the colour one I cropped so our faces were more the focus and the other I converted to black and white.
Next was to add some embellishment clusters. Where the sketch has banners I added a floral bunch using the Floral Die Cut Ephemera, adding the circle puffy stickers to the centres of the flowers.
To the lower right of the layout I created a pretty embellishment cluster using the Die Cut Ephemera pack. Lastly I went back and added some tabs above and under my photos and a Wood Epoxy Button.
And there you have it, I love this sketch and next time I will try a 12×12 layout.
When your mojo is just not working always go to a sketch to kick things off, Often when I am having one of those days I often scrap lift my own layouts or use a sketch.
Thanks for stopping by today and have a wonderful and crafty week.
Hello crafty people. It’s Anna here with another layout made with gorgeous “Storyteller” collection. This month we are playing with sketches and this is one of my first go – to things when my mojo is low. It wasn’t the case this time but I had tons of fun picking the right sketch for the job. I already had my photos printed so I knew I needed a sketch with two vertical photos in it and a spot for a bigger title. The task wasn’t easy and I went through many sketches to find the perfect one for me. Here it is:
It’s one of the Page Maps sketches that was used by Scrapbooks & Cards Today magazine for their Spring 2021 challenge. You may be surprised I chose 8*11 design as I always make my layouts 12*12. But who said you can’t alter your sketch? I not only changed the size of the background but I also flipped the sketch vertically making sort of mirror design with it.
Here is my finished project:
I kept my page very similar to the sketch, which is not always obvious in my case as I like to play with the design and keep my creative freedom. However, this time everything was going so smoothly, all the papers I chose were matching, all the embellishments were jumping on their places that I just kept going the way sketch led me. I started with the most perfect background paper called “Cross it off”. It’s very bright, all the middle part of the design is empty but it’s more than just a plain white cardstock. For the layers under the photo I used A5 Paper Stack so I didn’t have to cut whole 12*12 papers (and some of the patterns I chose are available only in the stack).
After glueing down my photos of the coziest beagle ever (yep, that’s my new blanket…) I followed the sketch and added some flower clusters in three areas. I used the ones from ephemera pack so I didn’t need to group the florals one by one. The laziest scrapbooker ever, I know. But why not to use simple solutions when Zoe already took time to put those flowers and leaves together? I also made a simple tag out of the pattern papers and added a string in natural color to it (exactly like the sketch shows).
I knew what the title of this page will be from the very beginning so I couldn’t use foam phrases that are included in this line (it’s a pity as they are simply stunning). I reached for alpha dies instead (they were already on my desk to the level of lazyness is still rising!) and I cut the letter out of the coral paper from paper stack. Before putting the letters down I added pieces of foam tape for more dimension. The title is the biggest change I made in following the sketch as it’s a bit smaller and doesn’t peak out behind the first layer of paper.
I finished everything by adding few buttons from ephemera pack and cute, little puffy hearts from puffy stickers set. I didn’t add any splatters which is usually my signature “cherry on top” step but I liked this page just the way it turned out. I must tell you, I finished it in 40!!! minutes. It’s like a personal best I think :) Following the sketch was so easy and liberating that I could switch off part of my brain responsible for overthinking.
I highly recommend you reaching out for sketch from time to time to step out from the well known path, try something new or just make things faster and easier for yourself. Thank you so much for staying with me today and I hope I inspired you a bit with my layout. See you soon in two weeks!
