Hello CVS friends. I am still crushing on the beautiful Storyteller collection! I love its versatility and that it works with most scrapbooking themes. Today I am sharing a layout of my middle boy and I.
I have used a free cut file by Paige Evans, love this heart so much. The striped paper is perfect to fill these hearts as you get the multi coloured effect. Once I had paper pieced the heart cut file I placed my photo so I could my way from there.
I used the heart paper from the A5 paper stack and added with foam tape. Next I used a chipboard floral bunch from the chipboard sticker sheet and tucked under the left side of my photo. I chose a sentiment phrase die cut from the die cut ephemera pack and directly under my photo with foam tape. To finish off I added a camera die cut and added a die cut button to the lens.
I used the chipboard title and added to the right of my photo slightly over the hearts cut file. To keep to the rule of three I added a butterfly wood epoxy button and two black foam hearts from the foam title stickers.
To add visual interest I added a chipboard banner and tucked a small floral die cut under it and then added a die cut button with foam tape.
This layout is simple but colourful! With these colours it makes it super easy to add coloured photos.
As always thanks for stopping by and see you again soon! Happy scrapping.
Hello scrappy friends! Today I have a 8.5×11 inch layout using the beautiful Storyteller collection with a focus on the floral die cut ephemera.
I found this lovely hanging basket cut file by Paige Evans (Silhouette design store) and knew it would be perfect to fill with the floral die cuts. I firstly cut it as a whole using the Cross it off paper (wood grain side). I then cut it whole again in white cardstock. I then cut off the hanging leaves in the wood grain and added the white cardstock ones. I paper backed the basket with a blue paper piece from the A5 paper pad.
I used Spring Fling paper to add a border to my white cardstock (floral side). I next used wet glue to adhere the hanging basket cut file. I decided on a 3×3 inch photo and as a guide placed where I wanted it and started adding floral die cuts over the cut file florals. I arranged them until I was happy and ensuring they also gave the effect of hanging over the basket.
I added some centres to flowers using the Puffy stickers to add dimension. Lastly I added some green leaves in amongst the white leaves for contrast.
I added my photo with foam tape and then set about to embellish using the die cut ephemera, accessory stickers and chipboard embellishments. And lastly I added a butterfly wood epoxy button.
This turned out so pretty and would suite a variety of scrapbooking themes.
Thank you for stopping by today and have a fab week!
It’s Tarrah McLean back here on the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog with you and today I am sharing a new scrapbook layout featuring the stunning Storyteller collection.
I think this is now my 8th layout created using this gorgeous collection! Do you have this collection yet?
I am documenting 2x photos of myself with some of my fun girlfriends, choosing to create a grid style design.
I first pulled out all the horizontal pocket cards that would suit the way I wanted my photos placed, I mixed them up and layered some underneath others and also layered some of them under my photos too, Once I was happy with how they looked, I took a piece of plain white cardstock and adhered them all down staying with that grid style. I was so happy that the pocket card that reads ‘It’s A Good Day to Have a Good Day’ was a horizontal style one as I wanted to use the ‘Together’ word from the foam title stickers, it was perfect to place on that pocket card!
I could not leave the pocket cards blank so I added some embellishments to them all. On the title card, I added a chipboard heart from the Chipboard stickers, a puffy heart sticker from the puffy stickers and a journal sticker from the Accessory Sticker sheet, I stamped the date on the small journal sticker. The pocket card to the right of the title one I added a chipboard piece, 2x banner die-cuts and a puffy heart sticker to the banner piece, I also stapled the banner die-cuts using my tiny attacher.
On the pocket card below the title I added an accessory sticker and adhered a camera ephemera piece over the top using craft foam. I also tucked in a floral die-cut here from the floral ephemera pack. On top of the camera, I adhered one of the super cute wood epoxy buttons. The pocket card above the title I added a chipboard banner piece and a chipboard heart and created a small cluster of flowers and leaves from the floral ephemera pack, I popped up some of the flowers using craft foam and left some without, I like the different heights and dimension this gives my page.
It’s fun to treat each pocket card almost like its only little scrapbook layout! On the top photo one, I stapled a banner sticker from the Accessory Sticker sheet in the top right corner, using my tiny attacher. Doing this is a great way to disguise something you make not like in your photo, treat it as an embellishment opportunity and cover it up as I have in the corner of my photo! In the bottom photo, I added a phrase sticker from the Accessory Sticker sheet to the top of the photo and created another cluster of flowers using florals from the floral ephemera pack, this helps to balance with the cluster I created in top left corner.
Thank you so much for stopping by the Cocoa Vanilla blog today! I love how my layout turned out and I hope you enjoyed reading how I created it!
Make sure to keep an eye on the Cocoa Vanilla online store as the Storyteller collection should be in store really soon!
It’s Tarrah McLean back with you today to share my next design team project with you. This week on the Cocoa Vanilla blog we are focusing on sketches. I have of course used the gorgeous Storyteller collection and I also chose a fun sketch from Lottie Loves Paper to work with for inspiration. I am documenting a cute picture of my niece dressed up as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz.
I chose a piece of plain white cardstock for the main background for my layout and trimmed this piece down and adhered it to the ‘B’ side of the Ditsy Daisy paper. I then machined stitched a border around the outside using white cotton. I trimmed a piece of the ‘B’ side of the Brighter Days paper and adhered my photo to this piece. I ripped the bottom edge off and bent the edges up to give texture. I stuck to the design of the sketch mostly by adhering the photo in the centre of the page using craft foam just like in the sketch. I layered a journal spot from the ephemera pack on the right of the photo and also created a small cluster of embellishments in the bottom right corner. Here I included a floral die-cut, a button die-cutand 2 heart puffy stickers.
Below the photo I added my title also like in the sketch – my title is from the foam title stickers and I also added a phrase piece from the ephemera pack. You can see in the sketch design that the title and journaling are together, as I don’t do a lot of journaling on my pages, I just added the date stamp as an extra feature here. There are no rules when creating, and you do not have to completely stick to a sketch if you are using one for inspiration, as long as you have used the sketch as a starting point you can’t go wrong.
I cut up some patterned paper strips from the A5 paper stack and layered these on the left side of the photo, you can see in the sketch design that there are strips added. I also layered one of the frames from the ephemera pack under the top left corner of the photo to add some interest here. Next I chose some of the gorgeous florals from the floral ephemera packand layered them by adhering some using dimensional tape and adhering some flat to the page also. I love the shadows and dimension this creates on my page. On top of one of the flowers I also added a camera die-cut.
Because I added the black title at the bottom, I wanted to create a visual triangle on my page so I did this by adding 2 of the black foam hearts from the foam title stickers. I added one to the left of the large floral cluster and also added one at the top embellishment cluster. The top embellishment cluster also mimics elements in the sketch. I added a die-cut here, a chipboard word, a floral die-cut, the black foam heart mentioned before and also a puffy sticker heart.
Do you ever struggle to get started with creating a layout or project? Sketches are a great way to get you started and there are so many awesome sketches to include one photo or multiple photos. Why not try a sketch for your next project?
Thanks so much for stopping by the Cocoa Vanilla blog today, I hope you enjoyed reading how my layout was created as much as I enjoyed creating it?!
Hi everyone, Its Melissa here and I’m back today to share a layout that I created with the beautiful Storyteller collection for our current Tell a Story theme! If you’ve followed my work for a while you’ll know that the story behind the photo is just as important to me as the photo! So for this layout I carefully selected a photo that had a big story I wanted to tell. The photo is of Ava at her first Pediatrician’s appointment when we first moved a year ago.
I had a lot to write for my journaling on this layout. So I went into my stash to find lined paper to ensure that I wrote straight! My background paper is Spring Fling and if you watch my video below you’ll see that this isn’t the paper I started with. I added white acrylic paint splatters to make it more painterly.
I added some distress oxide ink using the packaging technique to provide some distress and interest onto the lined paper. I love how it looks against the mixed media look of the blue background paper.
I backed my sweet photo of Ava with three papers from the A5 Paper Stack. I distressed all of the edges and went with an lining them up unevenly. I embellished with a cute banner from the Die Cut Ephemera, and I created my title with two of the Chipboard Stickers.
Other embellishments I used are Chipboard Stickers, Accessory Stickers and Wood Buttons. I added twine from my stash and machine stitching helped adhere the lined paper and added texture.
I adore the sweet camera ephemera pieces, and was thrilled to get on onto this layout.
Hello CVS friends here is my second layout using the beautiful Storyteller collection. The star of my layout is my rescue cat who brings so much love and joy to our home!
The circle heart cut file can be found in the Silhouette Design Store. As I cut it in white it blends perfectly into the white base paper. I used papers from the A5 Storyteller paper pad to cut the hearts and I used five different colours/patterns. I cut some extra ones so I could layer up some of the heart to create dimension, I have not used any of my 12×12 inch papers here.
I cut my photo to fill the circle centre, a 6×4 inch landscape photo fits perfectly. I next added my title using the foam title stickers, slightly curving it to the circle shape. When you have a page that has a significant amount of white, using black is a wonderful contrast and makes your title pop!
I next set about creating a floral cluster under my photo using the floral ephemera pack. So your floral bunch doesn’t end up looking ‘flat’, layer them and some add foam tape and then go back and tuck in leaves and sprigs. Again I followed the shape the photo centre circle.
I created a smaller embellishment cluster using the die cut ephemera pack, wood epoxy buttons and chipboard. Again layer your embellishments, here I added the camera with foam tape, tucked under a chipboard butterfly and layered over a chipboard sentiment, finished off with a wood epoxy button.
Lastly I went back and added some more butterflies, wood epoxy button and a phrase sentiment die cut. The colours of Storyteller go perfectly with the colours of my photo. I love how this turned out and after the loss of two cats in the last year I am focusing on taking more photos of my pets.
Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you have a fab week with time to create too!
