Hello Cocoa Vanilla friends!

It’s Sophie with you today ! It’s almost Christmas !! Who’s ready ??! Who’s been baking like crazy ??!

I have and like every year around Christmas, we prepare tons of different deserts and cookies and pastries ! I had to highlight that on a layout !

 

I used the beautiful Joyful collection for this page.

I started by creating a soft mixed media background on thick white cardstock on the upper side of the page, where I planned to put my big title.

I bought this title cut file from the Silhouette Store. It’s designed by SAS Creative. I cut the three words on different patterned papers from the A5 Paper Stack. I also did an offset cut on white cardstock to back each letter, and mounted them on adhesive foam before adhering them to the layout.

 

I teared a big chunk of the “Very Merry” patterned paper that I placed at the bottom of the page to ground my photo.

I embellished around it with beautiful elements from the Joyful Die Cut Ephemera Pack and fussy cut flowers and wreaths from the “’Tis The Season” and “Very Merry” patterned papers.

 

I fussy cut numerous stars out of the “Making Spirits Bright” paper that I placed around the title, and added a few Wood Buttons as the finishing touch.

Explore | Hello Sunshine | Laura Alberts

Hi y’all! Laura Alberts here with a patterned paper background for Throwback Thursday! I dug deep into my stash for the oldest Cocoa Vanilla Studio collection I own. Using the last scraps of Hello Sunshine for this one including my last full 12×12 piece of paper. My favourite parts of this collection are the denim patterns and florals, so I used them on nearly every layout. It’s such a cool mix of designs! I used a set of cut files from Liz Longest Designs and filled them with the scraps.

I fussy cut these florals from one of the patterned papers and layered them in large clusters behind either side of my photos to keep the focus in the center. Adding Nuvo drops in the centers gives them a more 3-D appearance and a little sparkle! I tucked in some of the Endless Summer enamel shapes amidst the florals for more texture and then two layered butterflies from the Endless Summer ephemera pack at the corners of my photo. Mixing these collections together has helped me finish both off this year!

The details on these alphas are brilliant and I have stretched these so far with this collection! Loving the denim-like texture and stitching, so I popped them up with foam strips to give them added depth. Instead of journaling, I used the word strips that I fussy cut from a patterned paper to create a staggered list of the phrases that fit this moment. It reads like a stream of consciousness perspective and I love that!

Hey Santa | Joyful Collection | Danni Visser

Hi Cocoa Vanilla Studio fans! Danni here with another layout using the incredible new Joyful collection to document a treasured holiday memory. I love how the soft colours in this collection highlight the bright reds in my photo without competing with it as the main focus of the layout.

I started by using some of the smaller patterned papers in the A5 paper stack to back the candy cane cutfile by COAPA Cutfiles. I chose pink and white for the candy cane, red and green for the holly and that gorgeous mustard for the bow.  I cut the cutfile in black cardstock to help it pop against the soft pastel colours. I also went ahead and matted my photo using the A5 paper stack papers.

I chose the gorgeous soft pink plaid pattern of the Advent 12×12 patterned paper as my background. I love how the subtle pattern adds interest while the soft colour prevents the background from being too busy. I added some additional details to the background with delicate green, pink and mustard ink splatters.

Once I had my photo and cutfile positioned on the page, I could go ahead and incorporate all the smaller elements. I couldn’t resist using the ‘Hey Santa’ title from the puffy gold title stickers for this photo – it was simply perfect! I added a couple of the small phrases from the accessory stickers below my title in place of journaling.

I created three small embellishment clusters around my layout to draw the eye around the page. I started with pieces from the chipboard stickers to begin building my clusters because I wanted to include a chipboard candy cane in two of the clusters to mirror my cutfile. I built up my clusters using a combination of presents, leaves and little animals from the die cut ephemera as well as the puffy stickers. To finish my clusters I added a wood button and some coiled gold thread to each one.

To tie in the black of the cutfile to the rest of the layout, I used a black pen to outline some of the die cut ephemera pieces and to add a sketchy border around the outside of the layout. As a finishing touch I added a sprinkling of shiny gold stars from the puffy gold title stickers randomly around each of my embellishment clusters.

Fa La La | Joyful Collection | Kylie Kingham

December is here and the festive season is in full swing! It’s Kylie with you today and I have another layout to share featuring the new ‘Joyful’ collection, to hopefully give a little holiday scrapbooking inspiration. I absolutely love every single paper design so I wanted to challenge myself to try and use nearly every single one in a layout. Thanks to the Tree Border cut file designed by Paige Evans, I think I was able to come pretty close!

Once I had cut out the 3 tree borders with my Cameo, I was able to back them with papers from the A5 paper pack. I like using this paper pack for cut files as it saves my 12 x 12 papers. I used brown cardstock from my craft stash for the tree trunks and adhered them to my background paper with foam adhesive squares.

With so much colour happening in my background I didn’t feel the need to ‘over-embellish’ my layout. My photo was trimmed to measure 5″x 3.75″ and adhered to a photo mat measuring 5.25″ x 4″.Once it was adhered into place I added a few cute die cuts and a title from the die cut pack.

Magical Moments | Joyful collection | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends!

Can you believe we are in December already?! Where has the time gone?! I know we say this every year but I am sure it gets faster each year!

Anyway it’s Tarrah here with you today and because it’s now December, I want to share all the Christmas things! I have created a new layout with a photo of my darling niece featuring the STUNNING NEW Joyful collection.

I created a pretty floral layout and began by fussy cutting out lots of those gorgeous florals from the Tis The Season paper. I did choose a plain white cardstock background however I did smoosh some distress oxide inks first. I mixed both Speckled Egg and a touch of Mermaid Lagoon to match the pretty teal colour in the Joyful collection. Lots of the mixed media did get covered up however you can see little hints of it if you look closely.

Once the ink was dry, I cut out the pink scalloped border strip from the Very Merry paper and adhered it horizontally to act as a ‘shelf’ on my page. I adhered my photo with a 3′ x 4′ card from the Pocket Card set and the oval scalloped frame die-cut from the ephemera pack down first and then began to arrange the florals either side of my photo. I knew I wanted them to frame my photo without overdoing it. I adhered the florals with different heights and types of adhesive to create shadows and dimension.

I also added some greenery from the ephemera die-cuts in the mix however most of it was fussy cut by hand. I added a wood epoxy button to the centres of 2 of the flowers. My title is made up of some words from the gorgeous gold puffy title stickers and I also added some of the small gold stars from the same pack. I also added a chipboard sticker just under my title and some of the tiny holly pieces from the Puffy Stickers either end of the chipboard piece. I trimmed down the white cardstock background and added 2 small clusters of flowers to the top and bottom, I then adhered the layout to the Making Spirits Bright paper and machine stitched a border around the very edge. To finish my page, I stamped the date stamp and sprinkled a fair bit of gold Heidi Colour Shine around my layout (yes I have been hoarding it)!

Merry & Bright Layout | Joyful Collection | Rachel Lowe

Hello CVS friends today I have a sweet layout to share with you! This is my second share using the gorgeous Joyful collection, its such an easy collection to use as everything coordinates so beautifully!

 

I have only used 1 12×12 paper for this layout, all my other papers are from the 6×8 inch paper pad. I wanted to use the striped paper as my base paper so it would include all the colours from this collection. So it was not too dominant I added this scallop border cut file from the Silhouette shop which comes in the 8.5×11 inch size. This worked perfectly to tone down the strip whilst letting the colours still come through.

I next set about creating my Christmas tree. I wanted layers and texture, so I added borders and tiny felt pom poms. I used foam tape in-between some of the layers to create dimension. I chose several paper designs from the 6×8 inch pad which add visual interest to my tree. I used the chipboard Hohoho as my title and some holly on the dark green piece of the tree. I finished off this element by adding some of the stars from the puffy title stickers close around the tree to help draw your eye.

I added my super adorable photo matted on two different paper designs, of centre on an angel. I tucked these and my photo slightly under my tree to connect these two elements. Once I had added my photo I could see what space I had to add some fussy cut Christmas flowers to my tree.

I just had to create an embellishment cluster that included one of the adorable creatures, so I used the chipboard squirrel added with foam tape so I could tuck under a phrase sentiment from the die cut ephemera and puffy stickers adding more presents.  could resist adding the beautiful bird sitting on holly at the top of my page. Lastly I added two wooden flairs, a small one to the top of my tree and a larger one slightly on my photo, I just had a add a deer somewhere!!!!!!

 

It was good to challenge myself NOT to use a white base paper and although there is a lot of colour going on in this layout the tree and embellishment clusters stop it looking to busy and overwhelming in colour.

Falalalala | Joyful collection | Sophie Delorme

Hello Cocoa Vanilla friends!

It’s Sophie on the blog today and I am so excited to share my very first page with the gorgeous Joyful collection!

 

I was inspired by the lovely December mood board. Here it is:

 

 

 

The color scheme caught my attention with the confettis and many circular elements like the wreath on the top left image and the Christmas ornaments on the bottom left.

I started with a thick white cardstock for my background and cut two large strips of the “Feeling Festive” patterned paper for the top and bottom of my layout and created a zigzag stitch with white thread.

I punched many 1 ¼ inches circles out of two patterned papers from the A5 Paper Stack, cut them in half and created a scalloped border along the upper strip of the “Feeling Festive” paper.

 

I used a tiny photo of my son playing guitar in his room, that I discreetly took from the stairs…! I framed it with a gorgeous scalloped frame from the Chipboard Sticker sheet and built my embellishments in a diagonal line around it.

I fussy cut numerous cute critters out of a A5 patterned paper that I placed around the photo, just as if the critters were listening to his music!

 

I fussy cut a big floral cluster out of the “Tis The Season” patterned paper and added die cuts from the Joyful Die Cut Ephemera pack and Chipboard stickers.

I printed my journaling and cut it into strips before adhering it to the page.

I splattered gold ink from my stash and finally placed a few beautiful gold Puffy Stars around my page as the finishing touch !

 

I am so happy with how it turned out !

Our Memories | Joyful Collection | Laura Alberts

Hey y’all! Laura back again with a super sweet baby layout featuring the new holiday themed Joyful collection. I love to challenge myself to scrap outside the theme as much as possible to stretch my creativity and get the most of my favourite collections. One of the inspirations for this layout was the adorable animal icons on the Magical Moments patterned paper. I just had to fussy cut them out and create a mobile with them above these sweet photos of my daughter cuddled up with me. To create the hanging lines, I simply free-handed some loops and then hand-stitched them with floss.

I added several fabric stars and wood buttons amid the hanging animals to fill in the gaps and give the impression of a sky. Both the mobile and the night sky are imagery that fits these sleeping baby photos perfectly and really help to set the mood for the overall page. On the top left of the photo, I pulled in a few stickers from 6×12 sticker sheet as well as a scattering of these puffy stars from the puffy titles. Love the pop of gold in this collection, it’s just the perfect addition to the soft color tones.

Along the right and left side of my photos, I added a cluster of florals that I fussy cut from the A5 paper stack, including these teeny tiny ones that I use to add details around the outside edge. To add a bit of definition to this page, I outlined the main photo mat with a pen. The finishing touches to this lovely layout was a puffy gold title, journaling, and splatters. Overall, I think I captured the soft, sleepy mood perfectly with the Joyful collection and I can’t wait to see what other photos I can scrap with it!

Baby joy | Joyful Layout | Anna Komenda

Hello crafty Friends. It’s Anna here and today I want to share with you super cute baby page made with not so baby themed “Joyful” collection. This brand new line was designed for christmas and it’s filled with with patterns and elements that correspond with winter and December celebrations. Howver, when I say all those cute critters like deer, fox and bunny, I knew I have to make a baby page. Let’s be honest – I am a bit of Grinch when it comes to christmas projects. I love the season but I prefer scrapbooking summer and travels. Most of christmas collections has very traditional color palette and the same motiffs. It kind of gets boring after a while. That’s why I was so exctited to see “Joyful” collection. This line has such a beautiful colors and many versatile patterns so I knew I will be able to use it whole year round.

As a mom of two lovely girls I always find a photo to scrapbook with any cute collection. I picked pictures of Maja, when she was less than a year old and paired them with all the pink and beige I could find in “Joyful” collection. I not only went through 12*12 papers, but also checked the 6*8 paper stack and pocket cards. I finally settled with very neutral background called “Very merry” and “Advent for one of the clouds. Did you noticed that 6*8 paper stack contains of a little bit different patterns or the same patterns but in different colors? It makes it a must have product! I managed to find two red – pink papers there and I cute a biggest cloud and backed my photos with them. Pink stars pattern is the back of one of the pocket cards!

This page is quite simple so I wanted to add some extra texture to the clouds by stitching the clouds with pale pink thread. Photos are surrounded with cute critters and generic words and other elements. I just love the drop of metallic gold added to this line. I also love new chipboard stickers!!!! They are so fun to use and look just beautiful. Deer and fox doesn’t look christmassy and can be used for any kind of project. That’s why I decided to use them here.

I embellished my composition with a lot of stars. They are often combined with baby themed collections so I thought they will match to my page as well. I fussy cut some bigger ones from “Making spirits bright” paper, added few smaller ones from ephemera pack and few with gold foiling from cardboard stickers sheet. Few wooden buttons and puffy stickers and my page was almost ready.

My title is a combination of word “joy” from cardboard stickers sheet and some pink foam alpha from my stash. Making this page gave so much fun and I just loved looking for elements that I might use. I also can’t wait to make some christmas themed project with it!

These Sweet Memories | Josefine vd Hoeven | These Days collection

Welcome to the Cocoa Vanilla blog today! So great to share a new layout with you. I was inspired by the March 2021 Moodboard. I thought the little yellow clouds were a fun idea to slide them between the paper layers.I love how that turned out.

 

I started with a white piece of cardstock. I cut the beautiful designer paper from the “These Days” collection to size by 6×6 inches. I stitched the square with gold sewing thread in the center of the layout with my sewing machine. I picked out several pocket page cards and folded them in half. I created layers and put them on top of each other with adhesive tape.

I placed the photo on top of these design paper layers. I start by making a cluster on the left side. I use different flower die-cuts, leaves from white cardstock and wooden buttons. I cut photo frames from the design paper and sew the edges with gold thread. I slide the photo frames between all these layers.

I am decorating my layout with more beautiful embellishments from this amazing collection by Cocoa Vanilla studio. I used word strips, stickers and butterflies. I cut the clouds from white cardstock and colored them with Distress Oxide. The color I used is “spiced marmalade” I stitch the clouds with gold thread and I placed them between these paper layers.

I combined the title “These Sweet Memories” with the beautiful black elegant foam words and the small colored puffy alphas. At the top of this layout I placed a black metal clip. This way it looks just like a clipboard. I placed the white cardstock on top of a woodgrain design paper and splattered with white acrylic paint. I am surprised how this layout turned out and am happy with the result.
