Hello CVS fans and welcome back to the blog today to see my 2nd creation using the new ‘No Limits’ collection.
For this layout I decided I wanted to make a big rocket for the main focus of my page. I took one of the rockets from the ephemera pack and recreated it using different papers from the collection.
Now, I am a BIG fan of hand stitching on my layouts. I love the texture it adds and I actually find it relaxing… I know this is not everyones cup of tea as it is time consuming. You can see I have stitched in co-ordinating threads on my rocket and it really helps to make the rocket pop from the page. To finish the rockets off I also added some of the wood epoxy stickers and puffy stickers …so fun!
To add to the ‘space’ theme I created some clouds to the top of my layout. I just used white cardstock and free hand cut them out…again you will see I stitched my clouds. I then cut a moon out of the ‘Orbit’ paper and then added a bunch of stars to the top of my page both from the chipboard sheet and some of the puffy stickers.
For my title I used ‘Love You’ from the Die Cut Titles then for ‘Moon’ I just cut apart some of the other words to make it work!
I backed my photo with a piece of the ‘Latitude’ paper….yellow is one of my favourite colours in scrapbooking…it helps to make the photo stand out on my page.
Lastly I added a few stickers from the ‘Accessory Stickers’ under my photo and thats it!
I love how this page turned out and I hope you do too!
See you in a few weeks for more ‘No Limits’ inspiration.
Hello everyone. It’s Anna here with my next project made with amazing “No limits” collection. Super talented CVS Team has been playing with this line for a while and girls created all sorts of inspirational and fantastic layouts. Their ideas blow my mind! That’s why I though I will surprise you with something a little bit different this time. I made cards! Yep, not a common thing in my scrappy portfolio but I like to make a card or two from time to time. Especially when the idea comes to my mind for a specific products. That was the case this time. When I saw all those space related items like planets, stars and rockets, I though it would be fun to use them in an interactive design. I made three quite simple and easy to recreate cards.
First card has a slider, that moves the rocket up and down. It was the easiest and fastest to make and didn’t required any special tools. I started with cutting the background from A5 Paper Stack twice, in the same size. Then I took a craft knife and a ruler and cut out the strip of paper from one of the backgrounds. To estimate how wide the strip has to be, check what size of foam dots will you be using and add 1mm of each side. You will also need something small and heavy, like a coin. I used 1 cent, which was just perfect.
Next step was to add pieces of foam tape under the first layer of background leaving the tunnel for the coin to move up and down. Put the coin on the first layer of background, add second layer with the foam and glue them together. You should be able to see the coin under the strip. Next, add a foam dot on top of the coin and place the rocket. I used the one from Die Cuts pack, but I trimmed off the white outline to better fit the dark background. Slider is ready! Now you can finish the card by adding the planet on the bottom and some stars and smaller planets. My “Earth” was fussy cut from “Universal” paper. Stars come from Chipboard Stickers sheet and Puffy Stickers.
Second card also has a slider, but in a round shape. This time I had to reach out for dies and die cutting machine. I used to sizes of circles, one slightly smaller than another, to make a round tunnel for the rocket. Rest of the process was pretty much the same – foam layer, coin, foam dot. Decorating the card was also simple as I wanted the rocket to shine. You also need to remember to let the tunnel open so the slider can work smoothly.
This time my planet was fussy cut from the globe from Die Cuts pack. It was just a perfect size. Title for the card was created by cutting one of the stickers from 6*12 Sticker Sheet into pieces. I wanted it to match the “space” theme. Super cute Puffy Stickers stars are a perfect match for any project.
Last card doesn’t have any movable element. It has a shaker instead. I used one of the stars from Die Cut pack to make it. I actually used two of them (from the secon pack) becasue I wanted my star to hang of the side of the card, thus the other side of it would be visible too. If you are planing to place the shaker in the middle of the card, one star will be enough. I started making my shaker by adding a layer of think double sided tape on the left side of the star. I then added a piece of transparency and cut it into the proper shape. I did it twice, with both stars. Next step was to add a layer of foam tape cut into narrow strips on the edges of the star. It was ready to be filled with sequins and glitter. After that, I sealed the shaker with second star. This way, you can use either side of it.
Decorating the card as simple and easy, as with the previous cards. Rocket and few stars make the whole composition. “Reach for the stars” sticker was a perfect finishing touch.
That is all for today! I hope you liked my ideas for simple yet entertaining cards using amazing “No limits” collection.
Thank you so much for stopping by and see you in two weeks <3
Hi everyone, its Melissa and I’m so happy to be back with you sharing another layout created with the amazing No Limits collection. For this layout I decided to document an outdoors photo to show you how this masculine themed collection can be used to document adventures. The photo is of my daughter just last weekend when we explored a beautiful beach that is new to us. We live in an area of New Zealand very close to the Catlins which has lots of beaches, and as we’ve only been here 9 months its always fun to explore new ones!
I used a free cut file by Paige Evans, and I thought I would find this one challenging due to the unevenness of the letters. I decided to back it with Latitude because it has two different tones of stripes which I alternated. I backed the parts of the letters that cross over with solid patterns in yellow and blue from the A5 Paper Stack.
I used Universal for my background, and placed it upside down to have a more saturated pattern at the top. I added splatters of Distress Oxides in corresponding colours, concentrated across the centre of the paper where I positioned the cut file.
For my embellishment I used three of the Die Cut Ephemera stars which I placed up on dimensional adhesive. I layered the large cut out star over the corner of the photo and I love how it looks! I also added an ephemera banner.
My finishing touch was to add some of the adorable Puffy Sticker planet-type circles (which I can’t get enough of) and a Wood Button. I also added an Accessory Sticker and underneath that wrote my journaling.
I kept this layout simple to focus on the photo, and I love how it turned out! I hope I’ve inspired you to scrap your outdoor adventures with this gorgeous and versatile collection.
Hey y’all! Laura Alberts back again with another layout using the stunning new No Limits collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio! I absolutely love the versatility of this collection. I’ve used it for boy layouts, this is a teen layout, and I have plans for a baby layout! One of the many reasons I love Cocoa Vanilla designs is that they are so easy to use. This star explosion design was a lot of fun and uses the Big Bang patterned paper as a background with the Orbit patterned paper as a border. Loving this space theme!
Bursting out from behind my photo of my teenagers are a plethora of stars fussy cut from the 12×12 and A5 paper stack versions of the Nebula patterned paper. Having both sizes gives me a wide variety of stars to use as I scattered them out from the photos. Largely, I followed the lines on the Big Bang paper, but for some of the small stars, I just placed them randomly. To get a little pop of red on the page, I punched some tiny stars from the multi-colored stripe paper and added a word phrase from the cut-apart sheet.
For an extra pop, I used alpha dies on the A5 bright green patterned paper, then matted my photo with the same paper. Loved going a bit silly with this title as I point out the distinctly different styles my two oldest kids have. One has gone for super short with a shaved undercut and the other is growing super long hair! Love that! This title is an homage to their amazingly unique senses of style. To finish off this layout, like I always do, I added gold Nuvo and splattered with gold ink spray.
I hope this layout inspires you to give an explosion layout style a go! To see how the ‘Hair-mazing’ layout came together, check out the process video below:
It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am excited to share a new scrapbook layout featuring the awesome No Limits collection!
I am documenting a photo of my eldest son from his first day of starting work at KFC as a casual. He was very confident and we knew he would be fine. 2 years on he still loves his job and everyone he works with also. There were so many cool elements in the No Limits collection to help tell the story and document the occasion!
I decided on a horizontal design for this layout, taking the A5 paper stack and cutting some strips from some of the patterned papers in the A5 paper stack.
I arranged them in different positions on the page and then added some machine stitching to the centres of each strip. I also bent up the edges of the papers just with my fingers, I love how the machine stitching and the bent up edges add some extra texture and interest to my page. I placed my photo slightly to the left of the page using craft foam and I layered 2 of the cards from the 3′ x 4′ Journal Cards pack under my photo here. I also stapled one of the banner stickers from the Accessory Sticker pack to the photo and layered another small rainbow sticker under the 3′ x 4′ journal cards.
To the right of my photo I placed my title that is made up of the die-cut titles from the No Limits collection. I used foam tape under the title also to give some dimension and to help it stand out. I also added the cool banner die-cut from the Die-cut Ephemera pack that says ‘Go For It’ and those super cool hand gesture die-cuts had to be added too, these are so fitting for boy layouts!
On the bottom green paper strip I added a small cluster of embellishments including an arrow from the Chipboard pack, another phrase sticker from the Accessory sticker pack and a phrase die-cut too. These phrases all help to tell the story and are suited to the message I am trying to portray to my son in my layout. I also added a few of the die-cut stars around as well, you can never go wrong with stars on a boy layout!
On the left of my photo I added another cluster of embellishments including the wood/epoxy button, the hand die-cut and another of the stars. When I create my clusters I always try to include similar colours from clusters I have previously created. This helps draw the eye around the layout, helps with visual design and makes the page aesthetically pleasing to look at. You can see on my layout that in each cluster I have added the red/orange colour, this is a great colour to use as it pops against most other colours. Another great colour to use for this is yellow.
Lastly I sprinkled some black mist and stamped the date stamp also. I hope you enjoyed my layout today?
Thank you so much for stopping by the Cocoa Vanilla blog! Make sure you get your hands on the awesome No Limits collection from your local scrapbook shop or wait until it becomes available in the Cocoa Vanilla Studio store!
Hi everyone, it’s Sue Plumb here today to share another project using the awesome new ‘No Limits’ collection. (Loving this collection SO much!) This layout features a photo of my hubby and one of my sons that I took while they were busy doing work in our garden recently. (This boy loves to help his Dad with projects in the yard!) I decided to use the wood grain print from the Big Bang patterned paper as my background for this page, as I thought it would work well for the outdoor theme.
You can see I have added some light mixed media layers to my background paper. I used a combination of acrylic paint, a stencil with ink, stamping, and splatters.
I used a mix of layered patterned papers for the focal area of my page that included Stardust, Orbit and Latitude and I used distressing, tearing and some frayed gauze to add texture. I also tucked in a paint sample card from my stash to help draw in the green on my sons hat, which I thought also worked well with the DIY that was happening on the day.
I used Die Cut Title words for my page title, but then used the always be your awesome self quote card from the Universal cut apart paper below it as a subtitle. Both of these were popped up from the page like my photo to create dimension and help them stand out from the background.
To embellish my layout I used lots of fussy cut stars from the gorgeous Nebula paper, which I combined with pieces from the Die Cut Ephemera pack and Accessory Sticker sheet.
I also added a few pieces from the Chipboard Sticker sheet which also provided some extra dimension.
Of course I couldn’t help but include some of my favourite embellishment from this collection – those stunning Puffy Stickers. (Seriously, I wish I had a million of these things!)
If you would like to see how this layout came together, you can watch my process video here:
Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you are feeling inspired to use up those scraps on your desk! Until next time, happy scrapping.
Hi everyone, please welcome guest designer Kellie Moore to our blog today…
Hello CVS fans!
My name is Kellie Moore and I am very excited and honoured to be a guest designer for Cocoa Vanilla Studio. I have been scrapbooking for around 15 years and it is my therapy and relaxation from the crazy times we are living in! I live on the gorgeous Tweed Coast with my husband and 3 boys, so when I was given the ‘No Limits’ collection to play with I was beyond excited and I have had so much fun with it. I will be sharing 4 projects with you over the coming month. I’m not sure how I would describe my style, I love layers and texture and every now and then having a small play with mixed media … I could live without paint but COULD NOT live without patterned paper! I hope you enjoy my creations and I inspire you to get crafty.
When I started on my first layout I loved the the subtle grey paper called ‘Universal’ so I decided to use that for my background. I cut this paper down to a 11.5 inch square and then created a mat around it with the ‘Latitude’ paper to bring a nice pop to the page… I really love how bright and fun those stripes are.
I decided for this page I wanted to scrap these 2 photos of my son being a goofball… my photos are slightly smaller than 6×4. I added a small white border around each photo then used red cardstock around one photo to help pull out the red in my sons shirt then used a piece of the yellow ‘Latitude’ paper to mat my other photo, Both pictures are popped up on some foam adhesive.
When I first opened the ephemera pack I immediately fell in love with the large stars and decided to make some sequin shakers with them. I pulled out some co-ordinating colours of sequins and added the stars diagonally … one to the top left and one to the bottom right of my photos to help create balance on the page, then added a smaller star to the bottom left to create a visual triangle.
Underneath my photos I wanted to add more pattern so I cut some strips of different papers and layered them to help fill the space.
For my title I pulled out the die cut titles and decided ‘So Funny’ was perfect for these photos . Again I popped the title up on foam to help it stand out on the page.
Now that the base of the page was done I added a few more pieces from the ephemera pack, chipboard pieces, puffy stickers and wood epoxy stickers to help finish off the page.
Lastly I added some phrase stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet that summed up my crazy boy.
I hope you enjoyed my first page for CVS and I will be back soon with my next creation.
Hey Everyone! It’s Michelle back here today with a brand new layout share using the awesome NEW collection No Limits. Loving the switch up on colour palette and patterns for this collection, especially those stars. Another fantastic collection thats brilliant for scrapping all things kid related, with a more masculine feel, but still just as good for scrapping the not so girly little ladies in our lives.
I jumped straight into some messy creating for this layout, blue inks watered down and smooshed onto some white cardstock to give a watercolour effect. I already had a rough idea of layout design from something I had previously created, so I added the splotches into areas where I thought they would peek out through the layers. And yes, its another scraplift of myself haha. I cant help it, it’s so much fun to recreate past layouts. You should absolutely try it when you’re stuck for inspiration!
The photos I chose to use are from this years first day of school, hard to believe Leila is now such a big kid in Grade Five. Luigi also made an appearance, like he does most days when she’s off to school.
The layout is full of circular elements both hand cut and ephemera/ sticker pieces plus a tonne of stars. I even went to the trouble of editing the photos into circles before printing them out in black and white. I hand cut around the edge of each photo and then adhered them to some of the awesome blue “Stardust” pattern paper from the A5 paper stack.
I played around with different combinations of pattern papers from the A5 paper stack to create the 3 main clusters on the page. I kept it pretty neutral to compliment rather than compete against each other . This helped when it was time to add all the extra pops of colour with fussy cut stars and ephemera pieces. I used a couple border punches to add the other pops of pattern paper to break up all the blue, white and neutral colours.
I added journalling to the main photo cluster using some notepad paper I had on hand, it was the perfect blue lined paper that co-ordinated so well with the colours of the stars. I cut this in a circular shape like the pattern papers using the plastic ring from inside a roll of foam tape. It was the perfect size for tracing out.
At the bottom of the layout I added a bunch of ephemera pieces, more fussy cut stars from the Nebula paper and some pretty cool word stickers from the accessory sticker sheet. Then there was just enough room to squeeze in a quick white alpha sticker title to finish it all off..
Heres a closer look below at all the layers I created with all those circles and stars.
Well friends, thats all from me today. Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing my first creation with our BRAND new Collection – No Limits. I cant wait to jump back into the box and get creating with it again soon.
It’s Tarrah back with you today to share my second layout using the awesome, new No Limits collection! I absolutely LOVE the dark papers in this collection, I love how the white cardstock cut file really pops against the dark paper.
The cut file I have used is from CUT to YOU, I cut it out of white cardstock and backed the ‘World’ word with one of the multi stripe rainbow papers from the A5 paper stack. The reason I picked the multi stripe rainbow paper was so there was some colours added amongst the white and the dark. Once the word was backed I added craft foam underneath the entire cut file and adhered it to the background paper. For the thin words, I did have to add super small pieces of craft foam so that it was not visible on the layout. It really helps to create a page when you add title cut files, it more or less helps determine where everything else can go on the layout.
The photo I am documenting is of myself and my family printed in black and white so that it matched the page perfectly. I layered one of the 3′ x 4′ journaling cards underneath and also one of the die-cut tags from the ephemera pack, I added some craft foam underneath the photo and placed it to the right of the ‘You Are My’ on the cut file. I added some twine in the hole at the top of the tag. At the bottom right corner, I created a small cluster of embellishments here to create a visual triangle with the other 2 clusters I also added to the page. This cluster consists of the circle journal spot die-cut, an arrow die-cut and a star die-cut. I also added one of the gorgeous wood epoxy buttons and a star puffy sticker too. I stamped the date stamp also. Up in the top right corner of my photo I placed a phrase Accessory sticker. I added a few more of the Accessory stickers around the page to help tell my story as well.
To the left of the word ‘World’ I created another embellishment cluster, this time placing a globe die-cut using foam tape, another star die-cut and a star puffy sticker too. Below the cut file, I also placed the ‘The Original + The Best’ die-cut piece and some more stars in both chipboard form and puffy sticker form. Above the cut file title I added the third cluster of embellishments that included some die-cuts, some chipboard and puffy sticker stars and a couple more phrase stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet.
Above my photo I tucked in one of the large die-cut stars and added one of the chipboard stars in the centre. Once I have added all of the embellishments I think my page needs, I take a step back and give my page a look from a few different angles to make sure I am happy with it, this is when I might opt for another small embellishment in a particular spot or I think about what else my page may need. I usually do not go too over board though and in this case it was a matter of sprinkling some white mist to finish off.
Thank you so much for stopping by the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog today! I hope you enjoyed my layout as much as I enjoyed creating it?!
Make sure you get your hands on this amazing collection for yourself to create with!
Mandy here today and I’m so excited to be sharing my first layout using the brand new AMAZING No Limits collection! We all know that Cocoa Vanilla Studio does the best boy collections, and this one is no exception! I LOVE the gorgeous bright colours, the stars and the cute icons! It’s going to perfect for documenting photos of both my son and my hubby! And that’s just what I decided to scrapbook on my first layout using this collection – a happy snap of Andrew and Isaac together while we were out to dinner recently. I also decided to embrace all the stars and all the colours on this layout!
I started my layout off with a starburst cut file from the Paper Issues store, which I cut out of white cardstock and then backed with the Latitude paper. I used craft foam between the cardstock and patterned paper to create lots of depth and shadows. I also trimmed the white cardstock down to 11 1/4 inches, added some black machine stitching around the edge, and matted it on the dark side of the Orbit patterned paper.
I double matted my photo with papers from the A5 Paper Stack, choosing colours that matched with my husband’s shirt that he was wearing in the photo. The A5 papers are perfect for this, as the patterns are on a smaller scale, and it also means that you don’t have to cut into your 12 inch papers for just a small piece. I positioned my photo in the middle of the page so that the starburst looks like its exploding out from the photo!
Next I added my title on the bottom left hand corner of the photo using the fun Die Cut Titles. I chose the phrase ‘Good Times’, which suited my photo perfectly! There are so many words in this pack, making it super easy to add titles to your layouts. I created a cluster around the title using some Die CutEphemera pieces, and a cute Wood Epoxy Button.
To balance out the cluster on the bottom left hand corner of the photo, I created another on the top right. Here I added a Die Cut globe, as well as a Chipboard arrow and star, and a little banner Sticker. I also tucked a Die Cut tag under the top of the photo and added another Wood Epoxy Button to the cluster. I like to make sure my clusters feel balanced by using similar elements in each.
To finish the layout off I decided to add even MORE stars!! I sprinkled around a few Die Cut stars, as well as some of the AWESOME star Puffy Stickers. I love these for adding a finishing touch to the page!
Thanks so much for joining me here today. I hope that you enjoyed taking a closer look at my first layout with the No Limits collection! I can’t wait to share another layout using this collection later in the month!
