Beautiful Moments | Throwback Thursday Midnight Collection | Danni Visser

Hi there! Danni here with today’s Throwback Thursday inspiration featuring the gorgeous Midnight collection. I adored this collection so much that I have been hoarding a lot of it, so it felt great to put it to good use.

The Sunset Strip 12×12 patterned paper has always reminded me of a sunset, so it was perfect for a background of this landscape sunset photo I took in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. I had cut the floral circle cutfile for another layout, and the negative interior pieces looked so pretty on the cutting mat that I could not bear to bin them, so I carefully glued them to the background paper. It looked so lovely with the patterned paper peeking through!

Next, I used some inks and mists to add some purple, pink and gold splatters to the background. This helps tone down the stark white of the cutfile and adds some interest to the background. I used the Shine Bright 12×12 pink gradient patterned paper to back my photo and built some horizontal layers behind it with plain vellum and the woodgrain side of Shine Bright 12×12 paper to give my photo a natural ‘resting place’.

I made sure to line up the horizon in my photo with the colour change gradient in the background paper – this makes the page look cohesive and really enhances that sunset illusion.The Beautiful Moments title from the chipboard pieces fit perfectly around my photo and was the perfect sentiment for this layout. I used a tab from the die cut ephemera and some tiny words from the accessory stickers to supplement my main title.

Even though I want to hoard them forever, I placed some of the gorgeous die cut ephemera floral peonies and leaves in clusters either side of my photo, then added a pretty butterfly from the accessory stickers on the centre of one of the cutfile flowers, making sure to pop the wings up on dimensional foam – one of my absolute favourite techniques.

Finally, I added a few enamel dots from my stash in matching colours to finish off the layout. This whole layout was very quick to come together, even though it looks very full with plenty of detail – making an interesting background meant I could keep my embellishments minimal while still having a very impactful layout.

Love You | Happiness Collection | Laura Alberts

Hey y’all! Laura here, sharing a wedding layout using the beautiful Happiness Collection. I absolutely love this gorgeous patterned paper, Expressive, and had to use it for the background. It has such a beautiful mixed media design to it with little marks that appear hand-drawn, stunning! I decided to add a little bit of extra media via texture paste through a stencil to create a landing spot for my photo.  With just a few scraps of papers from the 6×8 paper pad along the left side of the photo helps create a defined foundation.

I tucked in several floral ephemera pieces on the left side of the photo along with a few butterflies that I fussy cut from the 6×8 paper pad for a bit of fun. A couple of flags from the sticker sheet on the corner of the cluster. The title is layered along the bottom corner, overlapping a journaling spot with a sweet message about my darling husband.

Starting at the bottom right corner, I created a kaleidoscope of butterflies fluttering off toward the top, left corner, a few overlapping the photo. With a little bit of Nuvo Glitter Drops to create butterfly trails, it gives the appearance of movement on the layout. A little bit of gold ink splatter finishes off the edges!

I hope you found some inspiration in this wedding layout! It was so much fun to fussy cut out all of these beautiful butterflies from the Bright & Beautiful patterned paper. I find if I just adhere the butterflies at the center and leave the wings free it gives a fun 3-D look without adding bulk. Below is the process video for this layout, enjoy!

Flower Cards | Midnight | Anita Bownds

Hi crafty friends, Anita here sharing 2 floral cards using the beautiful midnight collection 6×8 paper pad. I decided to put out my dies and get creative using the pinks and blues, it’s always a great idea to have a few cards ready to go if you need a card for a special someone…
I started off with the white cardstock base and I chose Several pattern papers from the 6×8 paper pad
I used a floral pattern paper to mat on the background then trimmed a thick strip for the center and a adding to decorative boarder striped on each side to add more colour

 

This cut 2 doilies in 2 different sizes and layered them in the center of the card
Next I added  a flower and a flair button to be the feature in the middle

 

To finish off the cards I added a few enamel dots and pearl drops to add colour and dimension.

INSD Challenge Inspiration | Anna K, Raquel, Melissa, Tarrah, Laura and Sue

Hi everyone! Today we are once more turning the spotlight on some of the layouts our design team created during our International Scrapbook Day celebration a few weeks ago.

The first layout we are sharing belongs to Anna, who created a fabulous sketch challenge for us, and this stunning sample layout using our ‘Happiness’ collection to go along with it…

Anna’s sketch challenge proved to be very popular, with many gorgeous layouts being shared as a result, including from our own team members. Raquel decided to play along using Anna’s sketch to create this layout of her and her son using our ‘Unforgettable’ collection which we absolutely love!

The final layout we have to share using Anna’s sketch was from Melissa, who created this one LIVE in our INSD group from her home in New Zealand. She used our ‘Legendary’ collection and we are crushing on that big yellow heart and those die cut patterned paper leaves.

The next challenge we had on offer was Tarrah’s multi photo and mixed font challenge. Tarrah used our ‘Wild at Heart’ collection and was inspired by the work of fellow DT member Raquel to create an 8.5×11″ layout.

The next layout we have to share was also created for Tarrah’s challenge, but this time from Laura using our ‘More Than Words’ collection. She went all-out on the multi photo criteria, and managed to add FIVE photos on her page whilst still maintaining a clean, uncluttered look.

The final layout we have to share today comes from Sue, who created this mixed media layout during her LIVE scrap stream in the INSD group. She used our ‘Legendary’ collection which was a perfect match for the fun photos of her kids.

INSD Challenge Inspiration | Anita, Danni, Raquel and Kylie

Hi everyone! What an awesome weekend of fun, friendship and inspiration our International Scrapbook Day celebration weekend turned out to be. You may have seen that we shared all the challenge winner layouts on here a few days ago, so we thought this time we would turn the spotlight on some of the layouts our design team created for the weekend.

First up, for Anita’s mood board challenge, was this stunning layout – “Happy Little Moments” that was created by Anita as her challenge sample.

We are totally crushing on the gorgeous colour palette she used and those beautiful cut file flowers that she designed herself for Neat n Crafty Cutz. Anita also generously offered these as a free download, which you can grab for yourself HERE

Continuing on with some inspiration for the same mood board challenge was Danni, who created this adorable layout “You Are Lovely” via a LIVE scrap that was held in the group.

It was so awesome to watch Danni work her magic with watercolours and see this layout unfold right before our eyes. If you missed all the action of Danni’s livestream and would like to see her put this page together, you can view the video in the INSD Celebration group HERE

Next up on our challenge agenda, was Raquel’s Scraplift the DT challenge, with Raquel sharing a fabulous layout she created using a page by Kylie as her inspiration.

You can see how Raquel took some of the main components of Kylie’s page structure and then used them as the building blocks for her own interpretation. So many beautiful layers!

And last but not least, Kylie also created a layout for Raquel’s scraplift challenge. This time, she turned the tables on Raquel and used one of Raquel’s layouts to inspire her own.

Kylie said about her layout “for my interpretation I used the Midnight collection. I really loved the heart overlay in Raquel’s layout and that is probably what inspired me to create my page similar.”

Thankful for You | Happiness Collection | Laura Alberts

Hey y’all! Laura Alberts back again with a sweet layout of my grandmother using the stunning Happiness Collection. I started with a cut file from Hip Kit and filled it with papers from the Happiness 6×8 paper pad, then added it to this gorgeous teal background on the Good Vibes patterned paper. Using floral swags from the ephemera pack on the left and bottom of the photo and adding a cut-a-part piece from the Little Things patterned paper to add my journaling.

The larger butterflies are fussy cut from a cut-a-part sheet and the smaller butterflies are all fussy cut from the Bright & Beautiful patterned paper. I love the simple elegance trenbolone these add to this layout, it’s amazing the mileage you can get from patterned paper if you’re willing to fussy cut out the beautiful icons! I thought these lovely butterflies were perfect for a memorial page honoring my grandmother’s amazing life.

To finish this layout off, I added clear heart stickers around the clusters and the arrows by the die-cut title. Then, a little flourish with Nuvo drops in gold and white, as well as gold splatter! I love the way the tiny details like butterfly trails give this layout such movement and interest.

Home Memories | INSD Free Printable Kit | Raquel Bowman

Hey everyone, its Raquel here with you today sharing a layout that I created using the free printable INSD kit and free live online class that Zoe did last Friday night. Zoe’s class was created in a 12×12 size and inspired by these home days in isolation. I was so motivated to create a page using the page design and kit as a base for an 8.5×11″ size layout.

The layout features two photos of my kiddies taken recently during our home learning. We are going onto our 7th week of isolation here in our household and are currently home learning. Our school has an amazingly supportive program for these two kiddies, but being 5 and 7 they of course need constant support to complete set tasks. Getting used to this new normal and Mummy as the teacher has been new for us all. While supporting my kiddies to learn, I am also a Foundation school teacher so as well as supporting my own kiddies I have a class of 19 to work with as well. To say its been a juggle is speaking lightly. I am very much looking forward to life resuming to normal and everyone being safe and healthy as I am sure we all are.

The photos are printed on my home printer (an Epson picture mate) and in black and white. Printing in black and white allows any colour palette to use. I will often print my photos in black and white if my photo is very busy with a lot of competing colours. The page kit itself had four approx 3×4″ cards in the printables. These cards were designed to act as photo mats. I used them for the same reason and was able to double mat my photos with what was included.

What I loved about the page kit was the paper strips were already designed to a length and width. Being a smaller layout, I was able to trim these narrower and shorter and still get the desired effect. I machine stitched the strips to the page and was able to curve the ends inwards to create dimension.

The page kit also came with a page of ephemera pieces. I am sure if you are tech savvy there would be a way of print and cutting these with a die cut machine. However, I simply took mine to the couch while I was with my family and fussy cut them out with some precision tip scissors.

I adhered the clusters with a combination of clear glue dots, liquid adhesive and adhesive foam squares. I love the multidimensional look the varying adhesives brings to a page.

I did add a couple of products from my stash to this page, but they were minimal. One thing I added was a piece of pink patterned paper from the ‘Make a wish’ collection to frame the whole layout in. I felt that the layout needed a border to ground it. I also machine stitched around the border. The other thing I added from my stash apart from white cardstock was the wood veneer pieces, they were from both the older collection Free Spirit and Colour me Happy. I had forgotten that I had them in my stash and were a surprising and welcomed addition to help complete this page. They added that finishing touch that I was after.

The digital kits intended title was ‘home life’ however because I work in a smaller size I felt like it was too overpowering. I was happy to find the memories wood veneer piece to finish my title area. I used the tag in the kit to layer my typewritten journaling onto. I didn’t go into too much detail of the whole home learning experience but plan to on future layouts to document this unprecedented time in our lives. The little bow with the crochet thread added that nice finishing touch to the tag and element of journaling.

star gift box and mini album | legendary | Anita Bownds

Hi crafty friends, Anita here sharing my first project of the month…
with the awesome Legendary collection
I decided to step out of my comfort zone and create a star gift box with a mini album inside .
I started off by using my cameo and a star gift box with slip lid cut file from the silhouette design store. And cutting it out on yellow cardstock and the other parts to cover the lid and lid sides with the all star paper 

 

Then using a bow cut file from the silhouette design I used paper total legend to create the bow
Then I simply add a little doily ephemera and a flair to the top of the box to embellish

 

Then using the same cut file star I measured it to fit inside the box and cut it out 4 times on light blue cardstock to create my pages then I cut them out again just a little smaller with white cardstock to Matt on top of my star pages

 

Then I added them together and added a while eyelet in each on to add the binding ring
Then I started embellishing the cover with ephemera , doily and enamel dots.

 

 

 

For the pages I added a mix of clear stickers, stickers , ephemera and enamel dots.

Every Photo Has a Story | Unforgettable collection | Guest Designer – Laura Alberts

Hi y’all!

Guest Designer Laura Alberts back again with a layout focused on the story aspect of the Unforgettable collection. I really loved this cut-apart piece with the phrase, “Every photo has a story” and made it the title of my project. This photo definitely has a story to tell, so it was perfect for this 9×12 sized layout. This photo of my impish daughter covered in paint is a pretty wild story, for sure! I include as many of these stories as possible in my albums because my kids love to read them. Imagine having such a wonderful collection of your childhood memories to enjoy as an adult!

The second cut-apart saying, “Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful” was such a fitting addition to this picture, I had to use it too! The top of the layout features the Natural Beauty paper that adds movement to the background, while the floral cluster softens the linear look.

My goal was to use flair, so two do appear on this layout, but I saw an opportunity to add tassels and took it! I absolutely love these tassels, such a lovely way to finish off a floral cluster.

Lovely | Bohemian Dream | Anita Bownds

Hi there crafty friends,
Anita here with you today sharing a layout using the fabulous bohemian dream collection
For my layout today I decided on this fabulous Unicorn cut file from Paige Evans as the main feature of my layout full of vibrant colour and layered clusters of flowers..

 

I started with backing the unicorn cut file first with abstract and abundant and then I used kaleidoscope b side paper and matted it on dreamer pattern paper as my base for my layout and before I machine stitched around the border I folded up 2 corners and cut a 2 inch square in half to tuck underneath the corners to change the colours. I matted my photo on abundant and beautiful mess
Then using modeling paste ,stencil and paint I added some mixed media to the background to add extra colour.
Then I adhered the backed unicorn and Photo down at the same time. Then I wanted add my title using the chipboard titles but I wanted a pink title so I used some acrylic paint to change the colour and next the die cut ephemera tucking in tags, Tabs and flowers around my photo

 

Then I added more clusters of flowers around the unicorn and a few butterflies to finish of the page.
