Bloom | Unforgettable Collection | Tarrah McLean

Hi Cocoa Vanilla friends,

It’s Tarrah McLean back with you with my second layout using the stunning NEW Unforgettable collection!

The florals in this collection are just amazing and so beautiful…….they were itching to get onto a page! I decided a photo of my beautiful nieces was the perfect photo to document them dressed in pink together!

I decided on a horizontal design both at the top and bottom of the page, I added the gorgeous small floral paper to the top of the page and also layered the teal diagonal stripe paper under the  floral paper. At the bottom I added some of the gorgeous die-cut flowers and arranged them in a cluster. I also added the gorgeous ‘Smile’ flair button over the top of the flowers. I added the foam title word just above the floral cluster and also added one of the butterfly die-cuts.

Underneath my photo I added some of the floral die-cuts and also some of the clear stickers too. The butterfly die-cuts are just gorgeous and I added another one to the right of the photo as well as another of the gorgeous flair buttons. I added some of the accessory stickers to both the top of the photo and the bottom of the photo. These phrases are the perfect small addition embellishment.

I absolutely LOVE the addition of the enamel dots again in this collection so I added a few of them around the page in different sizes and colours. Whenever I get a new collection to work with from Cocoa Vanilla, I always try to include at least one of everything on the page!

The Good Life | Unforgettable Collection | Guest Designer Danni Visser

Hi everyone!  My name is Danni, and I’m so excited to be here today sharing my first layout as guest designer using the exquisite new Unforgettable collection.  For those of you that don’t know me, I have both a son and a daughter that I love to scrap, and while I was immediately drawn to the feminine floral elements, for my first layout I really wanted to highlight the versatility of this collection by creating a layout for my boy.

I’m using a beach photo for this layout, so I began by tearing large sections of the 12×12 papers to create a bit of a beachy scene, using Natural Beauty, Garland and Story Teller for the sky.  I tore Garland in small sections to create a ‘wavy’ effect.  For some more waves I cut some wavy shapes on my Silhouette, inked the edges with blue ink and machine-stitched them down using some wavy and squiggly lines.  I wanted this to feel natural and organic, so I wasn’t trying to make the stitching perfect.

Next, I mixed some coarse texture gel with gold acrylic paint to create a really fun sandy texture and scraped that onto the page in different places along my ‘boardwalk’.  I really love the fun texture this provides!  To finish off my background I used some turquoise, gold and white liquid inks to splatter all around the page.

I broke into the 6×8 paper stack next, using the black and white type paper and a thin border of the peach floral to add a bit of colour.  I popped my photo up on foam to create some dimension, then added my title using the gorgeous foam title stickers.

I went to town with embellishing, using a combination of the embellishment pack, accessory stickers, clear stickers and a flair button, plus a couple of the adorable hearts from the foam titles stickers to create three clusters around my page.  I popped a few of the embellishments up on foam to create some visual interest.  I wanted another pop of the peach colour, so I hand cut some starfish from the peach paper and added some dots with a white gel pen, then added one to each embellishment cluster.

To finish of the layout, I added my date on a label sticker below the title, journaled below the title with my black gel pen and added a sprinkle of the enamel dots to each embellishment cluster.

I’m in love with this finished page!  I really hope you enjoyed joining me today, I can’t wait to create some more beautiful pages using this incredible collection.

Stories captured | Unforgettable layout | Anna Komenda

Hello Cocoa Vanilla fans. It’s Anna here with my first project created with brand new “Unforgettable” collection. Do I have to tell you how much I love this line? Flowers, pink, blue, butterflies and amazing embellishments are a perfect match with my style. And the name??? I knew I have to use pictures from my trip to Australia on this page because it was trully UNFORGETTABLE adventure. I have few photos with girls from CVS team taken during Creative Escape event in Coffs Harbour.

I used white cardstock as a base of my layout and colored it lightly with pink and blue watercolors. Next step was to mat my photos with pieces of pattern papers from 6*8 paper stack. I love that pages in this paper stack are not glued together. You can easily grab one and they don’t have glue on the upper edge.

I placed ephemera pieces under and on the photos creating few layers. New foam title stickers are amazing and so easy to use. I made a title within few seconds.

I felt that the upper side of my page is too empty so I hand cut few triangles and arranged them pointing into the pictures, helping to focus on the bottom part of the layout. Here are few more detailed pictures:

There are so many amazing memories hidden on those photographs and I feel so grateful that I had an opportunity to meet Raquel, Michelle and Zoe.

Love You | Unforgettable Collection | Tarrah McLean

It’s Tarrah McLean back with you and today I am excited to be sharing my first layout with you using the stunning Unforgettable collection! I am documenting a beautiful photo of my sister and her husband from their wedding day and this collection just oozes lovely things like weddings!I decided to cut a strip of the stripe side of the ‘Sprightly’ paper and placed it vertically down a plain white cardstock background. I then trimmed the white cardstock down so that I could use the pink side of the ‘Unscripted’ paper as a border. I added some machine stitching down each side of the vertical strip. I added some layers under my photo including the floral paper from the ‘Pretty Bits’ paper and one of the die-cut frames, I popped these all up using craft foam.    I tucked in one of the tab stickers both at the top and bottom of my photo from the Accessory sticker sheet. As you can see in the detail photo above, I used some of the gorgeous new foam words as my title! They are gorgeous and aren’t too sticky, perfect if you aren’t sure of placement, they are easily repositionable which is very handy for me! I also added one of the gorgeous bows and a few other embellishments finish off this side of the layout.On the left hand side, I added one of the cute banner stickers and tucked in some of the gorgeous floral die-cuts. I also layered one of the flair buttons to the top of one of the florals. A few other small embellishments like the clear stickers and enamel dots finish off this side. One thing I wanted to point out in the floral die-cuts is that gorgeous texture you can see in the detail photo below. I just love that not only are there beautiful colours in this collection but the texture is awesome too.

Perfect Moments | More Than Words | Tazhiana

Hello Cocoa Vanilla family, and welcome back to another blog post! For this week’s project, I’m playing with the lush pastels and warm neutrals of the More Than Words collection and I’m scrapping a photo of one of my very good friends and her daughter.

I love how spontaneous and fun summer can be, and this photo was on a very spur of the moment trip to the zoo with my friend. She quite literally hit me with her stroller as they were walking a few weeks ago and inevitably, I tagged along on their outing. This picture, and many others, was a result of that outing.
For this layout, I knew I wanted to play with texture. I’m down to the very last of my stash for this collection so I knew that I wanted to make the patterns of the paper pad shine and work with a few embellishments to make an impactful layout. I began by punching squares from seven patterned papers and arranging them in a sort of bricklaying fashion across the top and bottom of a piece of white cardstock. I then used some basic white crepe paper to add some more texture to the rows and followed that with some trim I had in my stash that I grabbed from my local fabric store. I then rolled and distressed the paper rows so they wouldn’t lay perfectly flat because I needed a bit of mess in my pages.
Next, I worked on the photo. I used the remnants of the papers I used for my paper squares to create a layered photo mat and then grabbed some mini doilies from my stash, also to add texture and more color to the page. The only ephemera I have left from this collection was the vellum die cut pack, so I used some floral elements from that pack to add some interest around the photo, and I really love how it softened the picture and added a new texture to the page.
For my title, I used one of the chipboard stickers from the collection coupled with some gold thickers from my stash to carry the gold theme from the trim to the rest of the layout. I finished the page with a cluster in the upper left corner of pieces from the accessory sticker sheet that I mounted on foam dots to add some height to that element.
I hope you enjoyed this layout and were inspired to look at elements in your stash in a completely different way. It was fun to take something that’s not a conventional scrapbooking element like crepe paper and trim and work it into a layout – and I hope you give it a try. Kaboom | You Rock Collection | Sue Plumb

Hi everyone!

Sue Plumb here today to share a project I created for our regular “Throwback Thursday” theme. I had some super cute photos of one of my boys dressed in his Batman suit that I wanted to document, so I dug into my stash and pulled out the ‘You Rock’ collection, which I thought would be a perfect match.

I started with the star print of the Night Sky paper as my page base, adding a smaller piece of the wood grain print of the Plus One paper over the top.

Next, I used plain black cardstock to cut the Super Hero cut file set from Cut to You. I sorted through the pieces, choosing the ones I wanted for my page design. I chose the large kaboom piece and backed it with the yellow spotted print from the In Line paper. I then backed the smaller pow and boom pieces with the black and white cross print from the Random paper.

Before adding any of the cut file pieces to my page, I decided to create a little more depth on my background using some subtle stamping and some small torn pieces of the Washi Tape Stickers.

I then arranged the three cut file pieces that I had backed on my page; before placing my photos on top. Before sticking them down, I tucked some messy white cotton thread underneath, and added some scrap cardboard to the back to pop them up from the page.

With all the main pieces of my page in place, it was simply a matter of adding my embellishments to tie it all together and finish it off.

I used some of the black cardstock stars I had left from the Super Hero cut file set, and placed three of them around my page to create a “visual triangle” around my photos. On top of the largest star I added a wood veneer star from the Wood Veneer pack; which I then offset with three wood veneer lightning bolts – keeping two of them relatively close together to again form a visual triangle.

I decided to draw some extra attention to the kaboom piece as I was using it for my page title. I added anextra small wood veneer star over the top of the word, then the black you’re awesome banner from the Rubber Charms pack. From the same pack, I added the small yellow epic arrow alongside my photo.

To finish off my layout I used a few yellow crosses from the Enamel Shapes pack and I was done!

You Rock | Page Maps Sketch | Boys Rule & You Rock Collections | Sue Plumb

Hi everyone!

Sue Plumb here today, and it’s my turn to share my layout for the PageMaps sketch theme that our team have been challenged with this week. It has been amazing to see how all my fellow designers have interpreted the sketch so far, and the range of pages that a single sketch can inspire.

Here is the sketch we have all been working with…

This sketch is one from the PageMaps archives from October 2018; and if you would like more sketch inspiration (including card sketches) you can find them on the PageMaps website.

Despite the floral theme of the sketch, I decided to twist it up and create a boy page instead. I used a combination of elements from two different CVS boy collections – ‘Boys Rule’ and ‘You Rock’.

I began with the ‘Boys Rule’ collection – using the Star Fall paper as my page base to form a border, which I layered with a smaller square of the Entitled paper over the top.

To represent the circular element of the sketch, I cut several different sized wreaths from the free ‘Happiness’ cut files using a combination of white cardstock and the Happy Go Lucky paper for my feature circle. I then arranged them so they were overlapping each other.

Just like the sketch, I used two photos for my page (although I did use a different size and orientation). These photos of my son were taken the day after his birthday while he was testing out his new punchbag and boxing gloves.

I added the die cut what the? speech bubble from the Die Cut Ephemera pack onto my main photo.

Due to the busy pattern on the paper, and the fact that I already had the overlapping wreaths on my background, I wanted to keep the embellishments fairly simple. I dug through my stash and chose the wood veneer pack from the ‘You Rock’ collection. I liked the fact that this was an easy way to add dimension and some natural texture to the page.

I added the large You Rock title piece just to the left of the photos – just like the title was positioned in the sketch. I then adhered a selection of wood veneer stars around the page, placing them at points where the wreaths intersected and forming a “visual triangle” around my photos. I also added a small wood veneer lightning bolt directly onto my second photo.

To finish off, I added the that’s my boy rubber charm along the bottom edge of my photo; then added a small label from the Miscellany die cut pack to the bottom corner of my page and wrote my journalling with a felt pen.

Cutie pie | Free spirit Layout | Anna Komenda

Hello Friends! It’s Anna here with my project created for “Put a ring on it” theme week on the CVS blog. The new, amazing line has been revealed recently and I decided I need to make some space in my stash for new, pretty papers. I reached for the older lines and “Free spirit” one caught my eye. I was inspired by the color scheme and I decided to use it on my page. This collection is no longer avialable but you can easily replace it with some other, older but still pretty items from CVS. And you know what? You have a perfect opportunity to stock up on them becase there is a big sale happening on CVS site now!!! You have to check it out because what’s gone, it’s gone forever.

Because the theme of this week is all about circles, I decided to use a lof of them to build up my composition. I mixed several pattern papers in blue, pink and orange colors to cut my circles in different sizes. Before I glued them down, I used watercolor paints and painted circles on my white background paper. They are slightly bigger than the ones made of paper.

After my circles were done, I fussy cut some comic bubbles with words and hearts from one of the pattern papers and used them in my composition. I also added few bits and pieces from epherema pack. Wooden buttons are one of my favourite embellishments and I always tend to save them for later. I added few on them on the page too.

I finished my composition adding few enamel dots from various sets. I love how airy and delicate this page turned out. I must tell you I really love rediscovering older lines. I still want all the new stuff right after it appears in the shop but It feel so good to reach for older lines too. They all deserve to be loved.

You are Awesome | Happiness Collection | Michelle Stokes

Hello Scrappy friends It’s Michelle back today with a new layout share! This is definitely one to be added to the favourites using the Happiness collection and a pretty awesome cut file from fellow DT member Gwen.

The sweet photo I’ve chosen to document is of Leila taken back on Mothers Day with her ‘new’ friend Kermit – best op shop find ever! She truly is an awesome kid, and this cut file from CUT to YOU was the perfect accompaniment for this collection. I managed to pull all of this together with just scraps of papers used on previous creations and 1 full piece of pattern paper for the background edging.

I backed all the pieces of the cut file using the scraps I mentioned before then adhered to the white cardstock using some foam tape for dimension. I layered the cardstock with a full piece of my favourite MEADOW paper for even more colour, and sewed around the edging using white thread.

I added some more of my favourite paper colours to the photo stack. These are the smaller designs you can find in the 6×8 paper pad.

At the top of the photo and bottom of the cut file I added some floral ephemera pieces to give the slight hint of a diagonal design element. I also used the negative star pieces left over from the cut file and some enamel dots (which are making a come back with our upcoming collection and goodness I am excited about it)

Lastly I added a sprinkling of gold colour shine, some handwritten journalling and a date stamp to complete the page.

You Are Lovely | Happiness Collection | Sue Plumb

Hi everyone!

Sue Plumb here today to share my latest design team project with you. I am sure you have all seen the stunning new ‘Unforgettable’ collection that was revealed over the weekend? Such a beautiful range, I can’t wait to get my hands on it! Until then, I am still busying myself with the ‘Happiness’ collection, which I used to create this page.

I began my layout with the gorgeous floral print of the Meadow paper, which I wanted to use as a base. I then cut a piece of white cardstock down to 10×10″ and adhered it over the top, which left a 1″ border around the sides.

I then set about creating some layers in the centre of my page where my photos were going to be placed. I started with a piece of wood grain print paper from the 6×8″ paper pad; which I layered with a piece cut from the Frame of Mind paper; then topped it off with a yellow painted stripe cut from the Radiant paper from the More Than Words collection.

Once I had worked out exactly where my photos were going to be placed, I also added a scrap of the Expressive paper (that I had previously used to cut some hearts from); and a tag from the Die Cut Ephemera pack tucked in above my photos.

To embellish my page I started with a die cut flower pot and a rosette, which I placed on either side of my photos; along with a small tab that I added onto my layers above.

For my page title, I used the word lovely (also from the ephemera pack), which I adhered using foam tape to pop it up from the page. I paired this with the you are small phrase sticker from the Accessory Sticker sheet. To help ground my title, I also added a floral frame from the ephemera pack, which I tucked in behind.

I couldn’t resist adding some butterflies, so I fussy cut a handful of different coloured ones from the Bright & Beautiful paper and placed them in the top left and bottom right corners of my page to give a sense of movement through my design. I then added an extra one alongside my photos to provide the final point for my “butterfly triangle”.

I finished off my page with the stay colourful banner along the bottom edge, a few hearts from the Clear Sticker set and some small splatters of pink and yellow mist.
