No Limits die cut ephemera

Hello crafty friends! I feels like ages since I created a CVS boy layout, so here is one for all those who need some boy layout inspiration! I have used the still awesome No Limits

I found a fab pie chart cut file from the Silhouette design store. I cut it twice, one slightly smaller than the other and then layered over each other. I used the Spark  paper as my base/background paper and added the pie graph cut file. I used Orbit paper for the larger pie graph and Universal paper for the smaller one.

I next added my 6×4 inch landscape photo but before adhering to the centre of the pie graph I added two paper pieces/strips to the top and bottom of my photo. I used the star paper from the A5 paper pad as the patterns are printed smaller.

I used some elements from the Ephemera die cut pack, placing them is a way that your eye is drawn to the centre of the pie graph. You can see here I added some enamel dots behind die cuts that I had used foam tape to attatch.

I added phrase sentiment stickers over my die cut titles, which when your title is large (or words) you can add your journalling in this way.

Lastly I created a journal space by making another embellishment cluster, the epoxy wooden buttons are still available on the shop (https://cocoavanilla.com.au/shop/no-limits-wood-epoxy-buttons/) I have added extra stars around the edge of my base paper, using die cuts and enamel ones to add texture.

Blue, black and grey really are the most fab colours for a boy layout! With this colour combo you can add almost any coloured photo and it will work.

Fun Fun Fun | No Limits collection | Tarrah McLean

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new layout created using the awesome No Limits collection!

I haven’t created a boy layout for a while and I have lots of the awesome No Limits collection! I grabbed a sweet black and white photo of my youngest son and got to work creating!

I chose the awesome Spark paper for my main background, trimmed this piece down to measure 11′ x 11′ inches and then adhered it to the ‘B’ side of the Latitude paper

I then bent the edges up to create some texture and shadows on my page. I decided on a round design for this layout and took a dinner plate and pencil and lightly traced a circle with the dinner plate. I knew I wanted to add lots of the ephemera around the outside edge. This is a great way to use up lots of leftovers or little bits and pieces you may have laying around and don’t really know what to do with!

Before adding all of the ephemera and embellishments around the circle I wanted to get my photo in its place, as it is a large element and the main focal point of my page, this is important to me to get this part right. I layered one of the 3′ x 4′ pocket cards under the photo and adhered it to the right hand side of the page using craft foam. I did also cut in half one of the round frame die-cuts and tucked a piece in the top and bottom of my photo. For my title, I adhered another of the cool pocket cards with the words Fun Fun Fun! I also layered one of the phrase stickers from the accessory sticker sheet on top.

My favourite part when I create a layout is the embellishing! What’s yours?

Once my photo and title were added it was time to add all the embellishments around the drawn circle. I used a mixture of ephemera, chipboard, wood epoxy buttons, puffy stickers and accessory stickers. I adhered them all down around the circle using different types of adhesives. The chipboard I used a wet glue (even though these have their own adhesive, I like to add more as extra), the ephemera I used double sided tape and foam tape to give different dimension heights. I was careful to place similar colour elements away from each other, this helps creating a visual triangle on my page.

It was so fun to arrange all the elements around the circle, I placed larger embellishments first and then added smaller ones in between. To the right of my photo I stamped the date stamp using black ink and my date stamp. Lastly I sprinkled some black mist to finish my layout.

Total Legend | No Limits | Rachel Lowe

Hello CVS friends, today I am sharing another boy layout using the fab No Limits collection! This boy here is my middle child and yes he is a typical middle child lol!

I have used Stardust Stardust paper as my base paper. I then cut down Big Bang paper to 10×10 inches. This when I added machine stitching along the blue/grey off shoots to add texture and definition. You don’t have to be good at machine stitching, just following the pattern on the paper. I then attached this piece to my base paper Stardust.

I found this geometric cut file from the Silhouette design store and being circular I knew it would be perfect against the Big Bang paper piece. I used the A5 paper stack to paper piece my cut file, the patterns being smaller in the paper pad are great for smaller paper piecing. I chose stars and strips, bolder colours to add a contrast.

You will see I created an embellishment cluster around my photo (which I added with foam tape to create a 3D effect). I used several different embellishments from the collection to add more texture, die cut ephemera, chipboard stickers and wood epoxy buttons.

To keep the flow of this layout I added my title using the die cut titles around my photo and embellishment cluster following the off shoots of the starburst pattern. I added these with foam tape. I finished my title off by adding some of the chipboard planets and puffy stickers.

You’re Awesome | No Limits collection | Tarrah McLean

It’s Tarrah back with you on the Cocoa Vanilla blog today sharing a new layout featuring the awesome No Limits collection!

I started out by choosing a dark background, deciding on the Orbit paper as I knew I wanted to add the white star cut file from CUT to YOU. I love how the white cut file pops against the dark paper. I did add some different papers from the A5 paper stack behind each star in the cut file before adhering it to the background paper with craft foam. I trimmed down the Orbit paper slightly and adhered it to the Nebular paper for another layer on my page.

I adhered the photo of my 2 sons hanging out together on top of the cut file over towards the left slightly, I layered one of the 3′ x 4′ journal cards horizontally under the photo. On the right of the photo, I tucked in one of the Accessory Stickers with the stars on it, above the photo and journal card I tucked in one of the tab Accessory Stickers also. On the left I added the Accessory Sticker that says ‘You’re the Best’ and the bottom left corner overlapping the photo I adhered the ‘Unlimited’ die cut ephemera piece.

My title is made up of the awesome chipboard in the No Limits collection…I just love the dimension that the chipboard brings to my layout. I spelt out the words, ‘You’re Awesome’ and placed it in the bottom right overlapping the cut file. I was ok with the title covering up the cut file a little bit as by placing it where I placed it, below the photo and slightly to the right, it helps to balance out the heaviness of the photo, die-cuts and stickers in the top left. In the top left where the large star from the cut file is, I adhered the large star die-cut to frame the star and to help draw attention to the photo. On the right of the photo, I also added the flag die-cut piece that says ‘Let’s Go’. When I embellish my pages, I sometimes add elements that go with the theme of my page and other times I add elements because I need a certain colour in a certain area so that my page is visually pleasing to the eye.

Some of the last embellishments I chose were the cool wooden epoxy buttons, I added 2 to this page – the No Limits one and the Cool Kid one. I tucked in one of the large star chipboard pieces at the top of the photo, all of the other stars adhered around the page are from the ephemera pack. I also placed some of the super cute puffy stickers in grey and white colours to enhance the background paper even more and I also kept these neutral as there was already lots of colour on my page. I chose some more phrase stickers from the Accessory Stickers help to tell my story. Lastly I stamped the date stamp of the day the photo of my sons was taken and sprinkled some white mist around my page.

The Best Kid | Album | No Limits | Rachel Lowe

Hello CVS crafty friends! I have another album to share using the fab new No Limits. This album is larger than the one I created earlier in the month and this album can fit up tp 12 photos of varying sizes. I

I have used the following papers: Stardust, Latitude, Nebula, Orbit and Spark.  This banner album is from the Silhouette design store. I added black machine stitching to add definition and texture.

I chose my title from the Die Cut Titles and added with foam tape on every second page. I have used the smaller banners so dates can be added. I found two blue O rings from my stash which go wonderfully with the colours of this collection.

I added frames from the No Limits chipboard for two smaller photos. I made use of the pocket cards as photo mats. I added more black machine stitching through the album. By adding another die cut title word here I have created another title.

I have used the pocket cards to add spaces to document and the accessory stickers to journal.

Here I created some flap pages to be able to add even more pages. These are simple to make, simply score a 1/4 inch at the top and use wet glue to attach on top of each other.

Of course the fun part is adding the embellishments! I used many of the wood epoxy stickers to add dimension. I used lots of phrase sentiments from the chipboard, die cuts and accessory stickers. Once I had added the embellishments I went back and added puffy stickers on most pages.

You’re The Best | No Limits collection | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends!

It’s Tarrah back with you to share a new layout featuring the No Limits A5 paper stack and the No Limits 3′ x 4′ pocket cards! These products are such a great part of the No Limits collection! They are perfect for layering, punching shapes from and backing cut files too. This collection is so versatile and its perfect for not only boy projects but travel and even girly projects too!

I decided on a monochromatic colour scheme for this layout as so many of the elements in the No Limits collection went perfectly with the photo of my son having fun in the pool. I chose the Universal paper as the background paper as it reminded me of bubbles and was perfect to go with the photo of my son in the pool. I trimmed this paper down slightly and backed it onto the ‘B’ side of the Stardust paper. I took my black journal pen and freehand drew a border around the outside. I cut out some different sized strips from the A5 paper stack and layered them in a vertical manner to the left, I also took 5 of the 3′ x 4′ journal cards layering them under the paper strips, I added the ‘You’re The Best’ one to the right hand side of the layout, this card became the title of the layout.

I adhered my photo on the left using foam tape to add some dimension to the layout and took some of the chipboard frames and also layered these under the photo. I cut out 2 phrases and adhered these to the photo. I also layered one of the thin chipboard frames under the title card on the right. When I create layouts I always start with the larger elements on my page first like the papers, title and photo. I then add smaller layers and embellishments and finish with the smallest things at the end. Once the chipboard was placed, I then took some ephemera and accessory stickers also in the monochromatic colour scheme and added these as layers under the photo and paper layers.

As my photo and most of the detail is on the left of the layout, I wanted to balance the layout by adding similar elements on the right of the layout. I was able to replicate the photo by adding the 3′ x 4′ journal card and I tucked in some layers just the same as I did on the right. I didn’t tuck any papers on this side so that it did not look too overdone. I tucked in mainly ephemera and accessory stickers.

Some of the smallest embellishments I added last were the chipboard arrows, by placing these opposite to each other, they give a sense of movement on the layout. I also took some of the super cute puffy stickers, choosing some of the blue and grey ones and added some around my layout. I like how these also help replicate bubbles and go perfectly with the theme of my layout. Lastly I stamped the date stamp and sprinkled a little bit of black mist on my page.

Boys Will Be Boys | Mini Album | No Limits | Rachel Lowe

Hello CVS friends, as promised I have created a mini album focusing on the Pocket Cards from the No Limits collection. Apart from using one 12×12 paper, Big Bang for the cover I used papers from the A5 paper pad.

This mini album is super easy to make and no cutting machine required! Here are the cutting instructions:

  1. Cut a 11 x 5 inch strip.
  2. Score 5 inches in from the left and then right. This will leave you a 1 inch spine.
  3. Cut another paper strip 3 x 5 inches.
  4. Score at 1 inch from the left and then right. This will leave you a 1 inch spine again. This binding piece will fit perfectly onto your album cover.
  5. Machine stitch binding paper strip and wet glue to your cover.
  6. Use a corner punch on front and back cover

You will see inside I have created a pocket which again is simple to do.

1.Cut a 4 x 3 inch strip.

2 Score a 1/4 inch at each side and fold under.

3. Scallop punch top of pocket.

4. wet glue each fold and a thin amount to bottom to close up.

I have added some tags to my pocket. I decorated my pocket with embellishments from the chipboard and finished off with an epoxy wooden button.

On the other side I punched a hole and added an eyelet (ensuring it would be big enough for my O ring) and threaded through an O ring I found in my stash. This is where you will add your pocket cards and photos.

I added machine stitching to all my pocket cards to add texture and left some thread on for a rustic feel. I chose the larger stars from the die cut ephemera pack which hang from the O ring.

I have added traditional photos measuring 3×4 inches and added them between the pocket cards which allows you to journal. You can also add photos to the pocket cards also. I also cut the silhouette of my son and added to a pocket card which looks super adorable and mixes things up.

I used the accessory sticker sheet phrase sentiments and added directly onto my photo.

I used the puffy stickers to also add some sparkle to the cards! The trick is to add lots of different textures to your mini album so it is not flat but has lots of dimension.

My title Boys will be Boys is a cut file from the Silhouette design store. To add dimension some letters I have added with foam tape others flat. I added a mix of chipboard stars, die cut stars and puffy sticker stars.

The wonderful thing about this album is that it is not a huge consumer of paper, saving those 12×12 papers! I do not do PL and therefore this is a fab way to use pockets cards where you can photos, mementos and add lots of journalling.

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am excited to share a new scrapbook layout featuring the awesome No Limits collection!

I am documenting a photo of my eldest son from his first day of starting work at KFC as a casual. He was very confident and we knew he would be fine. 2 years on he still loves his job and everyone he works with also. There were so many cool elements in the No Limits collection to help tell the story and document the occasion!

I decided on a horizontal design for this layout, taking the A5 paper stack and cutting some strips from some of the patterned papers in the A5 paper stack.

I arranged them in different positions on the page and then added some machine stitching to the centres of each strip. I also bent up the edges of the papers just with my fingers, I love how the machine stitching and the bent up edges add some extra texture and interest to my page. I placed my photo slightly to the left of the page using craft foam and I layered 2 of the cards from the 3′ x 4′ Journal Cards pack under my photo here. I also stapled one of the banner stickers from the Accessory Sticker pack to the photo and layered another small rainbow sticker under the 3′ x 4′ journal cards.

To the right of my photo I placed my title that is made up of the die-cut titles from the No Limits collection. I used foam tape under the title also to give some dimension and to help it stand out. I also added the cool banner die-cut from the Die-cut Ephemera pack that says ‘Go For It’ and those super cool hand gesture die-cuts had to be added too, these are so fitting for boy layouts!

On the bottom green paper strip I added a small cluster of embellishments including an arrow from the Chipboard pack, another phrase sticker from the Accessory sticker pack and a phrase die-cut too. These phrases all help to tell the story and are suited to the message I am trying to portray to my son in my layout.  I also added a few of the die-cut stars around as well, you can never go wrong with stars on a boy layout!

On the left of my photo I added another cluster of embellishments including the wood/epoxy button, the hand die-cut and another of the stars. When I create my clusters I always try to include similar colours from clusters I have previously created. This helps draw the eye around the layout, helps with visual design and makes the page aesthetically pleasing to look at. You can see on my layout that in each cluster I have added the red/orange colour, this is a great colour to use as it pops against most other colours. Another great colour to use for this is yellow.

Lastly I sprinkled some black mist and stamped the date stamp also. I hope you enjoyed my layout today?

Hello CVS friends today I am sharing my first layout using the fab No Limits collection! This collection is certainly a must have for all of us that have boys/men in our lives, having three sons I always need a great masculine collection on hand!

I have used a cut file from the Silhouette Design Store to create my background, I chose it because I wanted to add lots of papers and stars to my page and this cut file allowed me to do both in a great way. I have used a mix of the 12×12 papers, Stardust, Latitude, Nebula and Spark. I added black machine stitching following the curves of the cut file to add definition. I next gathered all the stars from the die cut ephemera, chipboard stickers and wood epoxy buttons. Again following the curves of the cut files I added the stars from left to right (up to the point where my photo was going to be added).

I next added my photo which is 5×5 inches, I used the packaging and added a row of black machine stitching under the printed No Limits. I added my photo and then added a word sentiment sticker from the Accessory Sticker sheet, which I added with foam tape. Lastly I added a small wood epoxy button between the two words.

 

I just had to add one of the super cute space ships on my layout! I added it in-between some of the stars at the top of my page and added puffy sticker stars and circles for added dimension.

I then added my extra large title using the die cut titles. I added them with foam tape to create a 3D effect. I put my words in amongst the stars and using the cut file again to guide where they went.

I love this fun photo of my three boys (in other words they are not fighting lol!!!!) and love how this layout came together!
