No Limits

Helping paw | No Limits Layout | Anna Komenda

Hello crafty Friends. It’s been a while since I shared some of my projects with you so I am back with another layout. While I am waiting for the brand new collection to come to my doorstep, I reached for older but still amazing “No limits” line. As you know I do not have human son so I usually use masculine collections to scrapbook my furry son or hubby. Hubby doesn’t like photos so I mostly focus on dog :)

He is very noisy and need to be at the center of every event, including all the house works. This time I caught him “helping” my hubby puting Ikea cabinets together. He was very interested in the process, trying to steal some parts to play with them.

I printed two square photos from that moment and decided to use a combination of wooden pattern and kraft cardstock for the background. I am running low on full 12*12 sheets from “No limits” collection so I needed to be creative.

I backed my photos with pieces of pattern papers I got left and added some frames from Chipboard Stickers sheet. Title of my page was created with Die Cut Titles. however, I didn’t used the whole words. I cut out single letters from some of them and arranged them into new words. This was I got a font that perfectly matches the collection.

I finished my design using bits and pieces from Epherema Pack and two leftover Wood Epoxy Buttons. It’s quite a simple page but who said they all need to be complicated, full of layers and techniques. It’s the story that matters the most. And scrapbooking by furry boy gives me a lot of joy!

The Best | No Limits collection | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends!

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing one of my favourite to create – a boy layout! Because I have 2 sons, there is never a shortage of boy photos around here! I decided to pull out the awesome and very cool No Limits collection, one of my favourite boy lines by Cocoa Vanilla Studio! This photo is an older one of my youngest son who is now 13 – he is about 5 or 6 in this photo! I loved the way the shirt he is wearing matched some of the colours from the No Limits collection – that is where I got the inspiration from for my layout today.

I started off with a plain sheet of white cardstock – as I mostly do- then trimmed it down to measure approximately 11′ x 11′, backing this onto the ‘B’ side of the Big Bang patterned paper (the woodgrain side). I then pulled out a few of the various papers from the A5 paper stack and sorted through them to find some that co-ordinated with my son’s shirt. I decided to cut some into triangle shapes and then layered them top and bottom of the page. For some extra texture, I bent the edges of these papers and also applied a little mixed media to create a sort of shadow effect.

I placed craft foam underneath my photo and placed it in the centre of my layout, adding some layers underneath like a pocket card, a die-cut frame and a sticker and tag both from the Accessory sticker sheet. I love to layer embellishments on top of my photos and under my photos too, how about you? In the top right corner, I stapled a banner sticker here and tied a bow through the tag using some white wax cotton. In the bottom right corner, I placed the large star die-cut and added some chipboard ones on top.

In the bottom cluster of papers, I added another chipboard piece and also one of the super cute wooden epoxy buttons all from the No Limits collection. I love how these small details add some interest to an area to help draw your eye in. My title is ‘The Best’ letters from the chipboard sheet, I also added a phrase under the title, cut from the ‘Universal’ patterned paper. Another of the wooden epoxy buttons was also placed here and I love the teal/aqua coloured chipboard arrow pointing to the photo too.

Once I had most of the design in place and the larger elements on the page, I started to add smaller details for the finishing touches. I added some phrase stickers around the page and stamped the date stamp and added some sprinkles of mist in various colours also. Lastly I machine stitched a border around the entire edge using white thread.

So Awesome | No Limits | Kel Moore

Hello Cocoa Vanilla friends and welcome to 2024!!!!

It’s Kel here today sharing my first layout of the year and I thought I would go with creating a favourite of mine….a BOY page using the ‘No Limits’ collection.

Im documenting some pics of my youngest boy in one of his MANY soccer outfits… here is my page..

I decided I wanted to start with some mixed media, so I pulled out of my watercolours and used blue and green to make a fun messy background.

I have 3 photos printed at 3×4 and decided I wanted to go with a horizontal design. I used a mix of the Pocket Cards and some of the frames from the Ephemera Pack to layer up my photos.

Next I made my own tags with some of the patterned papers , adding twine to them to add more texture to my page.

I decided I needed some paper underneath my photos to ground them to the page, so I used the ‘Stardust’ and ‘Universal’ papers to do that.

For my title I used the ‘Die Cut Titles’…they add such a punch to any page. I also used some of the word strips from the Accessory Sticker Sheet.

Now onto the embellishing!

Around my pics I used mainly pieces from the Ephemera Pack and some of the Wood Epoxy Buttons. I incorporated these onto of my photos and some in the layers …. all of my pics are popped up using foam tape.

To finish my page I used some of the stars from the collection…some chipboard, some die cuts, and some from the Puffy Stickers.

Awesome | No Limits Collection | Laura Alberts

Hey y’all! Laura Alberts here with a fun and funky grid layout using the cut-apart sheet from the No Limits collection to scrap FIVE photos on one page! Absolutely love this mix of patterns, it was perfect for these pictures from out trip to the hands-on museum. This is a busy layout, but one of the ways I made this layout a little more cohesive was to mirror the top left corner with the bottom right.

Another fun idea was to use cut-apart cards from the second cut-apart sheet in the collection to layer on top of the first! The “You Rock My World” and Always Be Your Awesome Self” came from that second patterned paper and helped me to limit the color scheme of this page. The clusters on the open rectangles are a mix of chipboard, ephemera, and puffy stickers with fussy cut stars on the edges. The trio of tickets in the middle was a fun detail for a museum trip!

This bottom left side of the grid holds the title because the two photos that I loved the most ended up on the bottom row. Added to the die-cut title “Awesome” are borders of fussy cut stars from the Nebula patterned paper. Love all the elements that made it onto this page, especially the chipboard planets!

I especially liked this part of the grid with a rocket ship bursting from the “Out of this world” chipboard piece. It was a fun way to incorporate a science themed icon in this museum layout. The photos I’ve spread out throughout the grid are all so energetic and bold that I just had to use this equally bold collection.

You’re Cool | No Limits collection | Mandy Melville

Hello everyone!

Mandy here today for Throwback Thursday! I’m always a fan of using up my stash and giving an older collection a new lease on life, so I was excited to create a layout for the Throwback Thursday feature this month! I was in the mood to create a masculine page and wanted to document a photo of my son swimming in the pool on a recent family holiday. The No Limits collection was, as always, perfect for this! I’ve used this collection to document photos of my son when he was a toddler, right through to photos of my hubby, and everything in between. It’s so versatile, and I especially love the bright and vibrant colours!

I started by trimming the Eclipse patterned paper down to 10 inches square, and then adhering it to a sheet of white cardstock. This gave the layout a fun patchwork style look, and added lots of interest and colour to the background without much effort at all. I then chose a paper from the A5 paper Stack, and added some machine stitching around the edge before adhering it the middle of the page. This provided a matt for my photo, helping it to stand out and be separated from the background.

For my embellishing I decided to focus on the circular elements in the collection. I chose items from the accessory stickers, die cut ephemera, chipboard stickers and wood epoxy buttons, and arranged them from the bottom left hand corner of the layout, through to the top right. The diagonal flow of the embellishments helps to draw the viewers eye to the photo and title.

The repetition of the circular shape throughout helps to give the layout a cohesive feel, while the different textures, colours and sizes of each embellishment add interest to the page. I also added a sprinkling of chipboard stars to the page which provides another fun element.

For my title I wanted to use the Die Cut Titles, as I love the fun bold font! I decided on the phrase ‘You’re Cool’, which I think worked perfectly for this page! It not only describes my son’s ‘cool’ personality, but also references the fact that he ‘cooling’ off in the pool! I adhered my title with foam tape to help it to really pop off the page!

Cool Kid | No Limits collection | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends!

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new boy-themed layout using the awesome No Limits collection! The No Limits collection is a bit of a throwback to one of the older Cocoa Vanilla collections but I love revisiting older collections! I don’t know about you but if I have heaps of a collection left, I like to challenge myself to use it up!

I started out with a white cardstock background as I mostly always do, trimming it down to measure 11′ x 11′ and adhering it to a sheet of black cardstock. I took the Nebula paper and tore rough edges down each side. I then took some of the Latitude paper and tore a piece vertically, I adhered the Nebula paper down and the yellow side of the Latitude paper on the right side. I trimmed the colourful border strip from the Universal paper and adhered this piece to left of the Nebula paper. I bent the edges of the papers using my fingers to add some texture and to add to the grunge/boy theme feel of the page.  On the right of the papers, I added some black twine also for some added texture.

The photo is of my youngest son just after a haircut, he was loving his haircut and I just loved the look on his face so I snapped a few photos of him! I placed the photo in the centre of the papers, I layered one of the 3′ x 4′ pocket cards under the photo for an extra layer. I added some phrase stickers from the Accessory Sticker Sheet here to help tell the story of my layout. Although Certified Wild and Beast Mode may not be quite true lol! The One of a Kind chipboard certainly is true though and I placed this piece at the very top of the page.

To the right of my photo, I placed my title which is made up of the Die-cut Titles, I used craft foam underneath these to pop them off the page. I don’t know about you but I love the font of these titles! I added some phrases below the title here and then began to add some of the smaller embellishments. I added lots of star embellishments, including die-cuts, chipboard stars and puffy stars. I also added wood epoxy buttons and some tab stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet.

I love the dimension, detail and texture that all the different papers and embellishments add to a page. The last thing I did was I stamped the date of when my photo was taken, I sprinkled some black mist and freehand drew a black border around the edge using my journal pen. I love how my boy themed layout turned out and hope you enjoyed reading about how I created it.

Always Be Your Awesome Self | No Limits | Kellie Moore

Welcome back to the blog CVS fans, it’s Kel here today to share a page with you.

For today’s share, I wanted to create a ‘boy’ page and get some mixed media out so I decided to pull out my ‘No Limits’ collection. I still love this collection as much as I did when it was released so here is a look …

 

To create my background I started with some Distress Oxides in Faded Jeans, Fossilised Amber and Evergreen Bough. I added the ink onto some packaging, spritzed some water and ‘smooshed’ it onto my page. To the left of my page I used a stencil with some grey ink to add some more pattern, then used a black marker to add some detail.

 

I decided I wanted to have stars as a main shape on my page so I also added some green texture paste through a star stencil…they give the page a lot of texture!

 

To create some fun and to focus in on the photo of my son, I cut the silhouette of him out of my photo…this takes out the background noise in my picture.

 

Next, I cut out some circles to add a grounding element to my page and to lay out embellishments. From the ‘Universal’ paper I cut out the green ‘Always be your Awesome Self’ cut apart and decided to use this as my title. I cut the words apart and added them to the top left and bottom right of my photo…added with foam for the dimension and to make them ‘pop.’

 

To ground my photo to the page I added a tag, arrow and hand icon from the Ephemera pack…

 

Next, I bought in some of the stars from the Ephemera pack and the star Puffy Stickers to carry on with the star theme.

To finish of my page,I added some more stamping in black to make the colours on my page pop…love this look.

Fun Fun Fun | No Limits collection | Tarrah McLean

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new layout created using the awesome No Limits collection!

I haven’t created a boy layout for a while and I have lots of the awesome No Limits collection! I grabbed a sweet black and white photo of my youngest son and got to work creating!

I chose the awesome Spark paper for my main background, trimmed this piece down to measure 11′ x 11′ inches and then adhered it to the ‘B’ side of the Latitude paper

I then bent the edges up to create some texture and shadows on my page. I decided on a round design for this layout and took a dinner plate and pencil and lightly traced a circle with the dinner plate. I knew I wanted to add lots of the ephemera around the outside edge. This is a great way to use up lots of leftovers or little bits and pieces you may have laying around and don’t really know what to do with!

Before adding all of the ephemera and embellishments around the circle I wanted to get my photo in its place, as it is a large element and the main focal point of my page, this is important to me to get this part right. I layered one of the 3′ x 4′ pocket cards under the photo and adhered it to the right hand side of the page using craft foam. I did also cut in half one of the round frame die-cuts and tucked a piece in the top and bottom of my photo. For my title, I adhered another of the cool pocket cards with the words Fun Fun Fun! I also layered one of the phrase stickers from the accessory sticker sheet on top.

My favourite part when I create a layout is the embellishing! What’s yours?

Once my photo and title were added it was time to add all the embellishments around the drawn circle. I used a mixture of ephemera, chipboard, wood epoxy buttons, puffy stickers and accessory stickers. I adhered them all down around the circle using different types of adhesives. The chipboard I used a wet glue (even though these have their own adhesive, I like to add more as extra), the ephemera I used double sided tape and foam tape to give different dimension heights. I was careful to place similar colour elements away from each other, this helps creating a visual triangle on my page.

It was so fun to arrange all the elements around the circle, I placed larger embellishments first and then added smaller ones in between. To the right of my photo I stamped the date stamp using black ink and my date stamp. Lastly I sprinkled some black mist to finish my layout.

You Got This | No Limits | Kellie Moore

Welcome friends, hope you are all doing well!

It’s Kel here today, back sharing a page for you using the ‘No Limits’ collection, and you may be surprised to find I have created quite a mixed media back ground which isnt typically my thing….not because I dont like it, but because I worry that I will mess it up! So here is my version of mess .. but with control!

To start my page, I grabbed a 12 x 12 brick stencil and used 4 different shades of blue with my distress oxides through the stencil, working my way from lightest to darkest down my page. When that was done, I decided I wanted the bricks to look a bit more textural, so I added water with a paintbrush over the bricks (again, I was in control… LOL), and added a bit of stamping to some of the bricks as well! Next I cut all the bricks out leaving a small white border then popped them onto black cardstock to really make them pop! In this picture you can see the cool effect water has with oxide ink…

I also added some of the bricks onto foam so they looked more dimensional…

I backed my photos on a bunch of the patterned papers and distressed the edges to help lift my photo from the page. The main embellishments I used were stars.. some from the die cut pack, some chipboard, and some I fussy cut from the patterned paper.

For my title, I wanted to use the word die cuts as I love how bold they are, and I needed something that was going to stand out from the background….love them!

Hello Cool Kid | No Limits collection | Josefine van der Hoeven

Hello Paperlovers,
How lovely of you to visit the Cocoa Vanilla blog today I love to see you here. For this boy themed layout I really wanted to work with the fantastic collection “No Limits” 
This photo of my son is from quite a few years ago but the colors and his cute little face fit this collection wonderfully well. For this layout I was inspired by a sketch by Lottie Loves Paper that I found on Pinterest. I love using a sketch. It can give you just that creative push you need at that moment.
I took a 12×12 white cardstock paper and choose six of my fave design papers form the “No Limits” collection. I cut out six 3-inch circles and provide the edges of the circles with a stitch edge. I choose white sewing thread and use my sewing machine. Then I cut a half circle in the circles and fold them over. See picture…..
As also shown on the sketch, I am stitching a grid pattern on my layout. I choose dark blue sewing thread for the grid design. The dark blue is also reflected in the title as in the photo.
I cut two larger circles from the patterned paper and stitch the edges with white sewing thread. I also cut my son’s picture into a circle and place the circles on top of each other.

I fussy cut several stars from the pattern paper and created a cluster of stars on the top right and bottom left of the layout. In this way, I create a diagonal design.
The awesome bold and cool words from the die-cut titles are perfect to use for a title. The title for this layout will be ” Hello Cool Kid” under the die-cut title I fold some extra dark blue sewing thread.
I complete the title with some extra word strips that I added with a black line by using my fine liner.

I placed a few extra embellishments like wooden buttons, puffy stickers and cardstock embellishments to decorate my boys layout. Finally I give my layout some white gesso splatters. And for a little more color I add some dark blue splashes. I choose the color Distress Oxide “faded jeans” I love ink and gesso splatters on my projects. It looks festive and creative and I love that so much!
