Sweet Love | More than Words collection | Sophie Delorme

Hello Cocoa Vanilla friends !

It’s Sophie on the blog today sharing an Easter theme layout created with the gorgeous “More than Words” Collection.

 

This Snapchat selfie of Sabrina and I was perfect for the theme !

I started with a white thick cardstock and added plenty of watercolor splatters in multiple pastel colors.

I cut a cute cut file from Just Nick Studio with my cutting machine in white cardstock and placed my photo centered between the two bunny ears of the cut file.I backed the cut file with different patterned papers from the collection and added adhesive foam before adhering it to my background.

 

 

My black and white photo is also backed with tissue paper, adhesive foam and patterned papers.

I cut out a few tiny florals from the “Darling Buds” paper and placed them on the cut file and around my title.

 

The title is a word (sweet) cut out of the “Treasure” patterned paper and a More than Words Chipboard Title (Love).

 

I also added a beautiful Banner from the Chipboard Stickers sheet of the same collection.

Finally, I fussy cut 3 butterflies out of the pretty “Gossamer” patterned paper, sticked them around my photo and handwrote my journaling.

I love the vertical centered design of this page. Very simple and soft. Spring colors are my favorites !!

Happy & Sweet | More Than Words Collection | Laura Alberts

For “Throwback Thursday,” I decided to use an old photo and an older collection! This photo of my matron of honor and the best man from my wedding is one that I knew More Than Words would be perfect for, the lovely mix of pinks, yellows, and pale blues are just lovely. I started with a long column of journaling on the left side because I knew I wanted to document why these two people are so special to my husband and I.

 

I wanted to use the chipboard words for my title because they added a bit of texture and dimension to the layout and nestled in the “remember this” ephemera piece just above them. As usual, I fussy cut the white borders off of all the flowers to get a nice cohesive look when they’re clustered together. I really enjoy fussy cutting and find it incredibly relaxing!

This larger cluster was a combination of an old cut file from the Silhouette store that I’ve had sitting on my desk for ages and the floral ephemera. I started by cutting off the smaller florals that would otherwise be hidden under the photo, backed the open areas with patterned paper, and layered in leaves and florals. Adding touches of gold Nuvo to the centers of the florals and as trails behind the butterflies gives a lovely bit of deal.

I also created a sketch based on this layout to show how all of the layers fit together and make it easier for your to recreate the design if you’d like to!

Hello Lovely | More Than Words | Kylie Kingham.

Hey there friends! It’s Kylie back with you today for ‘Throwback Thursday’, where I have created a layout featuring a past collection. It was and still is…. one of my favourite collections of all time- ‘More Than Words’.  Just when I was thinking my stash was pretty well done, I was able to create yet another layout design!

I selected a white piece of card stock for my background and added some simple watercolour stripes and splashes in yellow. Going through my pile of embellishments, I had noticed that I had quite a few of the ‘frame’ die cuts. Once my paint had dried I began layering the frames over and under each other for a fun background detail.

My photo was trimmed down to approximately 3″x 4″ and backed with some of the ‘COLLAGE’ paper before being adhered to the centre of my page with foam tape. Working on diagonals, I began layering elements from the chipboard stickers and die cut pack. Some were added with foam adhesive to give my page more dimension. I had been hoarding the gorgeous Deer chipboard sticker for so long because I love it so much. Now it is finally on a layout!

Sometimes when I complete a layout I am often left feeling it needs a little ‘extra’ something. That is how I felt with this design, so I added several Butterfly die cuts on various angles across my page to bring balance to my completed works.

Hello you | Daydream, Unforgettable and More than words collections | Anna Blades

Hi CVS friends! Anna here with you sharing a new layout. This week we are focusing on using black because of Black Friday. And I really love black. For today’s project, I have combined black with much softer tones. I think it turned out very beautiful.

For my background, I used a watercolor sheet to do the plastic technique with black dye ink. I created a diagonal design and then, I did a lot of black splatters with pink ones too. I covered most part of it, but you can still see part of the background peeking out behind the circles.

I used the 6×8 Paper pack from More than words and Daydream collections to cut out a bunch of circles in different sizes. I placed them across the page, raising some circles with foam dots to give more dimension.

Between the circles, I also glued some flowers from the Daydream Die Cut Ephemera pack. They match really well with the More than words collection. As the theme of the page was circles, flair buttons were perfect and also add dimension and texture to the layout.  I cut my picture with a circle die as well.

I used some phrases from the More than words Accessory Sticker and I arranged three of them all over the page. For my title, I chose the Unforgettable foam title stickers. I love its script font and the deep black and how it stands out. Black hearts are from these stickers too.

To finish off, I cut half an inch from each side of the paper, framed it with black cardstock, and I did a machine stitching all around the page.

Good Times | Laura Alberts | Daydream & More Than Words Collections

Hey y’all! Laura Alberts here today to share a darling 9×12 layout with you that shows just how versatile Cocoa Vanilla Studio collections really are, they mix and match so beautifully together! This layout has both Daydream and More than Words meshed together. Using frames from both collections and backing them with cut-aparts and patterned paper to create the background, then layering my photo on top, makes for a sweet linear design that creates pockets perfect for embellishment clusters! Up in the top left, I added a rainbow and word phrase from Daydream, with a butterfly from More than Words!

I traced a border around all of the frames with my pen to give them a little extra depth and dimension (without adding bulk!) and created butterfly trails with Nuvo Drops to create the impression of movement. The stark black border is a paper from More than Words called Gossamer, and the back side of it is covered in more of these gorgeous butterflies! In the center cluster, the florals are a mix of the two collections, and I added small sequins for a bit of sparkle as well!

 

This bottom cluster is my absolute favorite! It features florals from Daydream, a bit of sequins, and a tiny butterfly cut from the More than Words 6×8 paper pack. I love how this cluster bridges the gap between the photo and the title, adding just a nice pop of color where it’s needed most! By using a black and white version of the 4×6 photo, I’ve given myself plenty of opportunity to play with a variety of colors and the contrast between black and white! Love how it turned out!

I hope the varied clusters on this layout inspires you to look at your embellishments a little differently! It’s fun to see how you can change things up. If you’d like to see the Good Times layout come together, I have the entire process in the video below!

Wonderful You | Daydream Collection | Raquel Bowman

Hey everyone, it’s Raquel here with you today sharing my latest layout using the gorgeous Daydream collection.

Here is the layout that I created:

The subject of this layout is my two boys; my husband and my little man Jack. In this picture Jack was a few years old. I rediscovered this photo in my photo stash prior to creating this layout and it brought back some beautiful memories. It is just crazy how quickly time flies. 

I have actually combined another Cocoa Vanilla Collection in today’s layout. I have used the ‘More than Words’ collection to embellish some of this page. The feature element on this page along with the photo of course is the cut file which is a file by Cut to You. 

I matted the photo in a pattern from the 6×8” Paper pad and also vellum from my stash to compliment the soft colours in this layout. I also added a small 4” doily to behind the photo. 

I backed the cut file with a variety of the patterned papers – I tried to stick to softer tones and soft prints in the files. I embellished with florals, stickers, and fussy cut moths. 
To embellish this page I also added one of the gorgeous fabric puffy hearts. I added this on top of the cut file. I love the pop of mustard this gave to the layout. The wonderful chipboard word that made up this title came from the ‘More than Words’ collection. It worked perfectly with this page. 

I added journaling to this page using my usual form; typewritten journaling adhered to the page in strips. I reflected on the relationship these two have…so beautiful. The layout was very top heavy and in particular to the top right – so I added a small little floral embellishment to the bottom left corner of the page.

Wonderful Moments | More Than Words | Kylie Kingham

Hello friends. Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today.It’s Kylie with you, sharing a new layout I completed recently. I’ve taken a step back in time and have used one of my favourite past collections, ‘More Than Words’ . I’ve also used a very pretty cut file which has been designed by my DT friend Gwen, from Cut To You. Together, both elements created a very soft and girly layout.

For my background I trimmed 2 cm off each side of the ‘TREASURE’ paper and backed it with a slightly larger piece of white card stock from my stash, making sure I distressed all edges a little for texture. I then adhered them centred to a piece of the ‘GOSSAMER’ paper.For effect I added a free hand drawn border with a fine tip black marker as well as a small cluster of embellishments to the top left corner.As I had a page design in mind I knew this small cluster would give a nice balance to my finished design.

Once I had cut my cut file, I backed just the Butterfly’s and adhered it to the lower right corner of my page. I wanted the cut file to be more of a background element for my page which is why I didn’t back the flowers of the design. Once in place, my photo was added and I began layering some pretty floral die cuts over the top.I used some foam tape for some so that they would sit higher than others, creating dimension.

To finish my page I chose some of the chipboard stickers as a title. Nothing beats a large title for a page don’t you think? I love the effect of having the non backed cut file underneath.It kind of looks like paper lace work.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing my layout today. Sometimes it is nice to pull out your stash of past kits when they have been in storage for a while to create something brand new! I hope my page today has given you a little inspiration.

Sweet Moments | More Than Words Collection | Tarrah McLean

Hi friends,

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a layout for Throwback Thursday. I decided to go back and pull out the gorgeous More Than Words collection for my Throwback Thursday project. I decided to cut a scallop design cut file that is from Cut To You first and backed some of the open spaces with some of the gorgeous papers from the collection.

I chose the Noteworthy paper as my background paper and arranged all the scallop pieces on the background how I liked them. I chose to document a lovely photo of my Mum and my son together at my Nan’s 90th birthday at the end of last year. I added one of the cardstock frames behind my photo and popped it up with foam tape to raise it up off the page. I placed some embellishments around the photo, including the flair button, a few die-cut phrases, a chipboard heart and some enamel dots and shapes.

My title is made up of the chipboard ‘Moments’ word from the chipboard elements pack and also the word ‘Sweet’ from the black chipboard titles pack. I placed both of these on the left of my photo, I like how they look overlapping the scalloped papers underneath. I added some of the floral cluster die-cuts around the page also, I like how they add some more colour and another element to the page.

The most time consuming part of the layout was backing all the scallop pieces and getting them arranged. Once that was all done and I had them glued down, the rest of the layout came together quite quickly. I find backing cut files very therapeutic, a bit like fussy cutting….however I know its not everyone’s cup of tea lol! A few of the last bits I added were the small phrase stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet.

Life is Good | More Than Words collection | Anna Blades

Hi CVS friends! This Is Anna and I’m so thrilled to be here today sharing my first layout with you! It’s awesome to be part of the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Design Team!

I’ve made this scrapbook page using the beautiful More than words collection and the Unforgettable freebie cut file.

I decided to use this photo that I took of my friend Monica with her daughter because the colors were perfect for these papers.

For the base of my layout I used the B side of the pretty Collage paper. It makes contrast with the bright floral paper.

Then I ripped two strips from the Darling Buds paper and I placed them up and down of the page. I also put a ripped strip vellum between both patterned papers.

I filled both sides of this “central path” with the flowers that I cut with my Silhouette Cameo.

For my main title I used the white chipboard titles, and I inked it by making a pink ombre. It was so easy because of the smooth texture of the chipboard.

On both edges of the page I sewed two thin strips from the 6×6 pad Treasure paper.

 

The page is pretty busy, so I didn’t use a lot of embellishments. Just two chipboard butterflies, a banner die cut, a sticker phrase and a heart-shaped enamel dot.
