You Got This | No Limits | Kellie Moore

Welcome friends, hope you are all doing well!

It’s Kel here today, back sharing a page for you using the ‘No Limits’ collection, and you may be surprised to find I have created quite a mixed media back ground which isnt typically my thing….not because I dont like it, but because I worry that I will mess it up! So here is my version of mess .. but with control!

To start my page, I grabbed a 12 x 12 brick stencil and used 4 different shades of blue with my distress oxides through the stencil, working my way from lightest to darkest down my page. When that was done, I decided I wanted the bricks to look a bit more textural, so I added water with a paintbrush over the bricks (again, I was in control… LOL), and added a bit of stamping to some of the bricks as well! Next I cut all the bricks out leaving a small white border then popped them onto black cardstock to really make them pop! In this picture you can see the cool effect water has with oxide ink…

I also added some of the bricks onto foam so they looked more dimensional…

I backed my photos on a bunch of the patterned papers and distressed the edges to help lift my photo from the page. The main embellishments I used were stars.. some from the die cut pack, some chipboard, and some I fussy cut from the patterned paper.

For my title, I wanted to use the word die cuts as I love how bold they are, and I needed something that was going to stand out from the background….love them!

Love Our Story | Storyteller | Kellie Moore

Hello everyone and welcome back to the CVS blog.

Today I’m sharing a page using the new ‘Storyteller’ collection with a focus on florals.

I decided I wanted to divide my page into thirds, using blue, yellow and red as the focus for each section. To start my page, I used a strip of white cardstock to stamp florals using my distress oxides..the red is Candied Apple, the blue is Faded Jeans and the yellow is Fossilized Amber.

I chose 3 of our wedding photos and printed them in black and white so they didnt compete with my colours. I wanted to have something to pop out from behind my photos, so I used some gauze that I coloured with the same inks…this adds a nice texture to the page.

Next, I went through all the embellishments..the ephemera pack, the chipboard, accessory stickers, wooden buttons and puffy hearts and pulled out all the colours that matched and icons that would work…making sure I used florals in each cluster.

While going through my collection I also found a yellow and blue stitched heart from previous page so I included these as well..

For my title, I used the Foam Title Stickers, placing one word on each line of the page… including some of the black foam hearts…perfect for a wedding page right?!

Muddy Puddles | Storyteller Collection | Danni Visser

Hi Cocoa Vanilla Studio friends! Danni here with a layout featuring the beautiful Storyteller collection. I used lots of patterned paper in this one; I think patterned paper has to be my favourite scrapbooking supply as it is just so versatile!

I have some photos of my littlest child splashing in some puddles in her bright yellow rain boots that I have been dying to document. This collection features the perfect shade of yellow to match her little boots. I started with the Oh My Heart 12×12 patterned paper for my background because the pattern reminds me of raindrops. I added some white acrylic paint to the area behind where my photos and embellishments would go to help them stand out on the patterned background.

Next I created a cutfile of some rain boots using a free image and my digital cutting machine. I backed it using the A5 paper stack. I used a yellow ink to fill in the white background of one of the patterns to add even more yellow to the boots.

I used a double sided 3×4 card to mat one of my photos, distressing the edges for texture. Next I created three embellishment clusters. Two of the clusters I positioned framing the photos using the die cut ephemera, for the third cluster I filled the top of the boots with floral die cut ephemera pieces.

 

I added some of the small wood epoxy buttons over the camera lens and flower centres of my die cut ephemera.  I stamped the date on an accessory sticker and added a sprinkling of puffy sticker hearts around my clusters.

Finally I added my title. I used a navy paper from the A5 paper stack to cut some letters on my digital die cutting machine, then added some messy machine stitching for extra texture and interest. This also enabled me to bend the edges of the letters up to create even more dimension.

Hello fall | Storyteller Layout | Anna Komenda

Hello everyone. It’s Anna here and today I have a page for you created for a monthly theme: “Spring or fall”. I am so envy of all you Aussie girls for your current spring season. It saddly means we are slowly entering winter on the northern hemisphere (I know it’s still two months but it always feels like fall, winter and spring are combined into months months period and summer is here for like only two months). That’s why my choice of the season is quite obvious and I made a fall page. I even had a brand new photos of my girls taken in the nearby forest! I am still playing with the “Storyteller” line, that is so versatile that I could easily make a fall page with it.

I had this idea in my head to create a tree branches with some colorful leaves on them, framing my photos. And this is how this page started. Paper called “Cross it off” with wooden pattern was just perfect to hand cut my oak branches. I simply sketched the shape and used my scissors but you can also use your digital die cutting machine, if you do not trust your sketching skills. Next step was to die cut bunch of leaves in “fall” colors using patterns papers from A5 Paper Stack mostly. I focused on yellow, pink and dark green shades.

Next step was to find a proper background. I tried all the “Storyteller” 12*12 patterns but my leaves kept blending in too much. Here is where simple mixed media techniques and sheet of white cardstock come very handy. I picked a greyish blue shade of ink and simply blended it into my background. I wasn’t trying to apply the color evenly to make the illusion of clouds on the sky. I also splashed everything with drops of water for even more texture. I was really happy with how the background made the branches with leaves pop.

When the oak braches were glued down to their assigned spots, I started adding leaves applying glue only in the middle part and bending the edges a bit. It gave some needed texture and illusion of movement to the layout. In the gap between the branches I glued down my two photos. I backed them with pattern papers from A5 Paper Stack as I like when each picture has a frame of color around it. Decorating the composition with ephemera pieces and cardboard stickers was the final step of my process.

My title is a mix of foam title stickers from “These days” collection and some black alpha stickers from my stash. I had so much fun making this page. I just love the moments when idea in my head can be so smoothly and easly transfered to the paper. Because believe me – it doesn’t always work this way :)

I hope you like my idea too. It can be easily used for a spring page, where you would use like apple or cherry blossoms and young leaves on the branches and more blue color of the ink for the sky! Maybe you will scraplift it this way? Maybe I will scraplift myself for some future post :)

Love | Storyteller Collection | Melissa Vining

Hello, it’s Melissa here and today I’m sharing a new layout that I created with the gorgeous Storyteller collection.  I really wanted to feature lots of the patterned papers so I went with a geometric cut file from Just Nick Studio called Broken Butterfly.  Rather than my go to white patterned paper background I used Ditsy Daisy.

This is a very busy page with colour and pattern.  In order to break it up I used navy ink applied with the packaging technique, and splatters in white and gold.  This separated the butterfly cut file from the busy floral background. I used lots of papers from the A5 Paper Stack to back the cut file.

The photo is my youngest daughter at our new local supermarket pushing the little trolley.  Its her favourite reason to help me shop!   I clustered several flowers and leaves around my photo from the Floral Ephemera.

My title is from the Chipboard Stickers, and was perfect because sometimes I’m too lazy to think of a title myself! I was so happy to get a Wood Button onto my page too!  I wrote my handwritten journaling onto a Die Cut Ephemera label, and the frame on my photo is also from this Ephemera.

Happy Fall Days | Josefine vd Hoeven | Daydream and These Days collection

Hey hello lovely Paperlovers,

It’s Jo here on the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog today sharing a new scrapbook layout with you. For this layout, I was inspired by two seasons. I chose to create a fall layout in spring colors. I had some leftovers from the Daydream and These Days collections and chose to combine them both for this layout.

 

I grab a 12×12 white watercolor paper and choose one of my fave color distress oxide called “saltwater taffy” I create three stains on the white background by using a kitchen sponge. I make a stamping motion on the watercolor paper with the sponge and the Distress oxide color. Don’t forget to wet the sponge a little bit so the ink flows out nicely on your paper. I take a watercolor brush and splash some ink. I love the effect of ink splatters on my layouts. These splatters give my mixed media background more demension and a festive look.
I use a beautiful cutfile designed by Cut to You called “Autumn leaf”  I cut out the cutfile twice by using my Cricut Maker and backed it with yellow and pink colored design paper from the gorgeous Daydream collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio.
I placed both cutfiles on top of my light coral pink mixed media background.
I fussy cut a few flowers from the pattern papers and placed these under my Happy Autumn selfie picture. I made a cluster on both sides of the photo with the gorgeous Die-cuts elements, stickers and figures from the Daydream and the These days collection.

I placed a few extra embellishments like butterflies, sequins, labels and stickers to decorate my Autumn layout with spring vibes. Some of the embellishments I added white sewing thread with my sewing machine. Finally I give my layout some extra white gesso splatters.
I hope I’ve given you some fun ideas for combining different collections and themes like spring and fall with each other. We look beautiful together on vacation | Josefine vd Hoeven | Sunkissed collection

Hey creative Paperlovers,

Welcome and so happy to see you again on the Cocoa Vanilla blog today! It’s Josefine here and I’m sharing a new layout with you. For this girls pink layout I choose to work with the beautiful collection “Sunkissed. I really love the pink vibe on this happy page from me and my daughter.

I took a 12×12 watercolor paper and choose three pink colors of distress oxide to work with. The colors I used are, picked raspberry, kitch flamingo and spun sugar. I placed an ink pad on my white background and make a horizontal line. I do this with all the three different ink pads. Then I take a medium watercolor brush and blend the colors with each other by using a little bit of water. I splash some more with the colors by using my watercolor brush and then let the background dry by air. By splashing with water on your distress oxide and dabbing it dry with a piece of kitchen paper you create a super cool watercolor effect.

I used a cutfile by Paige Evans called “Beautiful” as part of my title. The title I choose for this layout calls “We look beautiful together on vacation” I really love the moments that I spend with my teenage daughter. These moments are very special and precious to me. I cut the cutfile with my Cricut Maker and backed it with yellow colored design paper. I color the alphas with the distress oxide “mustard seed” and then I stitch the alpha’s with light yellow sewing thread on my cutfile. The stitching details give my alpha’s more detail and dimensions.
I cut different  pattern papers to size and placed it behind the photo from me and my daughter. I made a cluster on the right side of the photo with the gorgeous Die-cuts elements, stickers and figures from the Sunkissed collection. I select some more embellishments for extra decoration between the alpha’s.

I punched out a few butterflies from the lovely Sunkissed design papers and placed them in different places on my layout. Also I give my layout some white splatter with white gesso for a festive look.
I hope I was able to inspire you with this happy pink girls layout with the fresh and colorful Sunkissed collection and give you a creative idea for an easy mixed media background. Spring is Here | Storyteller Collection | Rachel Lowe

Hello crafty friends today I am celebrating all things Spring (well if you live in the Southern Hemisphere anyway!), flowers, sun, bare feet and yellow!!! Storyteller is a perfect collection for spring themed layouts.

I firstly created a water colour background effect on my white card stock, using yellow as it reminds me of spring, I then found a cute vase cut file from the silhouette design store. I used Oh My Heart paper to create my vase.

Now for the fun part, I created flowers for my vase using the Floral die cut ephemera pack. I added them with foam tape to add dimension and then tucked in extra leaves and sprigs.

I add a phrase sentiment banner from the die cut ephemera pack on the vase. I chose a wood grain paper from the A5 paper pad to mat my photo.

Next I created my title using a cut file which I cut using Ditsy Daisy paper. I added a camera die cut and added a wood epoxy button to the lens of the camera.

To finish my layout off I went back and added some die cut butterflies and puffy stickers in amongst the flowers and under the butterfly wings.

A simple layout technique wise but visually beautiful with the colour choices and lots of flowers!

Oh Lovely Times | Daydream collection | Sophie Delorme

Hello Cocoa Vanilla friends !
It’s Sophie with you on the blog today with this cute layout to share !
For this Throwback Thursday page, I used  the beautiful Daydream collection
I selected 4 of my favorite patterned papers: Sun Shower, Daisy Days,Happy Place and Garden Variety. I applied Distress Oxide inks directly on my white background watercolor cardstock in four vertical lines. I added water and colored splatters as well, and let everything dry.
I cut four strips of my selected papers that are of different lenghts and about 2 inches wide.  I curled the top and bottom of each paper and aligned them in a horizontal line. I inserted a grey ribbon inside the curled top of each strip and tied a bow on the right and left side of the four aligned papers.
I printed my photo in black and white. It adds a little retro feel to the page…!
I used the Daydream Die Cut Title words for my title, and added beautiful fussy cut and die cut flowers to embellish around my photo.
I cut a rectangle out of white cardstock to write down my journalign and placed it on the Sun Shower strip, on the left side of the photo.
Finally, I added a few Accessory Stickers, two die cut butterflies and a few scattered sequins as the finishing touch.

I will never get tired of using this gorgeous collection ! My design is very easy to scraplift, and it is a simple way to use many different patterned papers on a page.

Hey There Pumpkin | Sunkissed | Lina Monaco

Good Day Friends,
Lina here on the blog today with an Autumnal layout I created using the fun Sunkissed collection and a photo of my eldest daughter, from this past weekend. I know Sunkissed is a summer themed collection, but I couldn’t resist it’s rich tones of yellow, orange, and pink. I think by looking at my layout, you’d never guess that the collection was geared towards summer. And, that’s the beauty of CVS collections, they’re just so full of fun and colour and that makes them versatile.


I began with a white piece of 12×12 cardstock and created a blended ink background in yellow, coral, and pink. I used water to then add droplets which then I dabbed off to create a reverse splatter as the water removes the ink where it’s placed.
I created the cutfile in Silhouette Studio using two different fonts, layering them and then cutting the background from white cardstock and the rest from papers from the A5 Paper Stack. The Paper stack is perfect for smaller tasks such as cut files or even matting of a photo. I popped up the cut file with dimensional foam and then placed it on my now dry background.


The photo is printed in colour and I feel like the shades and tones in the photo play nicely with the colour scheme I’ve used and do not “get lost” amongst all the colour I have already laid down. I matted my photo with papers form the A5 Paper Stack adding in the same pink, yellow and green.


Time for my favourite part…. the embellishing of the layout. I created a few clusters, one main, large one within the cutfile, a second cluster, mid sized to the left of the photo and lastly a smaller third one, to the right of the photo. I used florals from the Floral Ephemera and a few banners from the Die Cut Ephemera packages. Because I wanted this layout to have more of an autumnal vibe to it, I stayed away from the teal and blue that is included in this collection using soley the shades of orange, yellow, and pink with a pop of green. I also used some gold thread to create a nest for a small Wood Button to sit within. In doing this, I feel like I give the button a home. :P


Lastly, I used some gold ink spray and splattered paint in and around my layout. As always, this finishes off my layout and ties it all together. in my eyes, it similar to adding sprinkles on a cupcake… it’s just that little bit extra that completes your layout.
