My Heart is Full | These Days collection | Rachel Lowe

Today I have a layout to share using the beautiful These Days collection. I am a little sad as this is the last of it but on a positive note I have the new Happy Days collection to start creating with (happy dance).

As I only had the butterfly 12×12 paper left I decided to use it as my base paper but adding a white scalloped square to the middle with a blue colour wash to add contrast. Using a cut file I cut 5 butterflies to layer them for dimension. I used my sewing machine to add stitching down the centre.

 

I next added my 3×4 inch photo of me hanging out in Paris as you do lol! Which I matted and used foam tape to add. My photo is where I added a larger embellishment cluster. I cafe die cut reminded me of Paris so it had to be added to my cluster, I added a tree die cut behind it and then used phrase sentiments from the accessory sticker sheet to journal.

On the opposite side I created a floral cluster and finished off my adding a die cut tab at the top of my photo and a puffy heart sticker on the tree.

I added of the wood epoxy buttons on the butterfly wing. I then used the puffy stickers alphas to add Paris to the other butterfly wing. This layout is simple and quick to put together but the butterfly paper, mixed media background and layered butterfly cut file give it lots of visual impact.

I Adore You | These Days collection | Sophie Delorme

Hey Cocoa Vanilla friends!

It’s Sophie here with a new layout to share!

 

I used the beautiful These Days collection and created a very simple and soft page!

I cut two strips of the “Take Flight” polka dot paper and placed them on the top and bottom part of a 12×12 thick white cardstock. I added some stitching with yellow thread and white embroidery floss.

I used a precious photo of me and my son Gabriel. I mounted it on tissue paper and foam adhesive, and centered it on the page.

I fussy cut three frames out of the “Wall of Fame” paper that I placed around the photo, and decorated them with Die Cut Ephemeras, stickers and fussy cut flowers.

 

I created my title with a mix of alpha dies from my stash and some Foam Title Stickers from the collection.

I placed a few phrases from the Accessory Stickers sheet, and scattered a few butterflies as the finishing touch.

Happy Easter | Happiness collection | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends and Happy Easter!

It’s Tarrah back with you today, I hope you are enjoying Easter celebrations with loved ones! I was given the theme of Easter for my project this week and have created a scrapbook layout featuring the gorgeous Happiness collection!  The Happiness collection is so beautiful and perfect for my Easter themed layout documenting a sweet photo of my niece from last Easter!

I chose the gorgeous woodgrain paper from the Happiness collection for my background and trimmed down a piece of white cardstock to measure 11′ x 11′ adhering this on top of the woodgrain paper. I then machine stitched a border around the edge to add some texture and interest. Next I cut out a pretty floral Easter egg cut file from CUT to YOU from white cardstock also. I did attempt to machine stitch the very fine egg outline of the cut file, however it did not go that well with how thin this piece was. I took the A5 paper stack and chose some pretty papers from it to back the flowers and leaves in the cut file with. This was the most time consuming part of this layout but I LOVE how it looks. Once the flowers and leaves were all backed, I added craft foam to the underneath and adhered it in the centre of the white cardstock background. The thin outline of the egg, I did adhere this flat to the background as any sort of foam adhesive would have been visible.

I wanted to add a little bit of mixed media ( I know! Shock!) but not too much so I took a fine paintbrush and dipped it into my Tumbled Glass distress Oxide ink and painted around the outline of the egg shape on the right. I also added some water and the ink on some plastic packaging and did some small mist drops around the edge in 3 colours: Tumbled Glass, Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick.  I love how the subtle misting and painting looks to define the cut file a bit more. One thing I love about cut files is, that they often help with the design of your page, with this one in particular, my photo placement was obviously going to be to the right of the florals. I adhered my photo to the die-cut frame, tucked in the frame from the Accessory Sticker sheet, added some twine through the hole in the top and then added craft foam underneath the frame to adhere it to my page. I stapled a banner sticker to the top right corner, added the phrase banner at the top and also added my title to the bottom of the frame.

To the left on top of the flowers in the cut file, I added more flowers from the floral ephemera pack, I just LOVE how bright and gorgeous those flowers look! I also added another flower on the right hand side, tucking it in under the frame. I also fussy cut some butterflies out of the ‘B’ side of the woodgrain paper and adhered those on the right as well. I bent up the wings to give the sense of movement and dimension on the layout. I added a heart from the clear sticker sheet here as well. Like with all of my layouts, I like to get the largest elements laid on my pages first and then embellish with smaller things like die-cuts and stickers etc.

My title is made up of the alphabet stickers from the Life is Beautiful collection. At the top of the photo, I tucked in the ‘Fun’ ticket die-cut from the ephemera pack and stamped the date stamp of when the photo was taken. I also added some of the word and phrase stickers from the Accessory sticker sheet around the page to help tell the story of my photo.

LOVE STARTS WITH A NOSE.. | THESE DAYS | SOPHIE DELORME

Hey Cocoa Vanilla friends!

It’s Sophie on the blog today with a cute layout to share!

 

I used a collection that I LOVE: These Days! I paired it with a beautiful cut file from Echo Park Paper for the title of my page.

I cut the cut file on white textured cardstock on the left side of the page, and used it for my title. I placed a sweet photo of Sabrina and our dog Fiona right next to the title, mounted the photo on tissue paper, patterned paper and foam adhesive.

 

I backed the cut file with different patterned papers from the These Days A5 Paper Stack. I popped a few words slightly off from the cut words to add interest and dimension to the title.

 

I decorated with Die Cuts around the photo, scattered a few butterflies and handwrote my journaling on a wreath cut out from a pocket card.

This layout came together in no time at all! A big title cut file, a beautiful photo and a few embellishments from an amazing collection is all it takes to create precious memories!

Happy Days | Sunkissed | Josefine Van der Hoeven

Hello Paperlovers,

It’s time for new inspiration from the beautiful and sunny ” Sunkissed” collection. I’m so happy to see you back on the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog today. We are heading into spring and with the sunny weather coming up I couldn’t resist making a sunny layout with a beautiful summer memory.

For this layout, I challenged myself to use only pocket page cards, die-cuts (flower), stickers, word strips, puffy stickers and the gold glitter foam titles. I created six clusters on my layout. I started with the two flower clusters. I placed these diagonally across from each other. I folded the flowers a bit so that they have a little bit more dimension on the layout.

 

I stitched the two rainbow die-cuts on top of each other with light blue sewing thread. I placed these next to the flower cluster on the top right. I choose three colorful hearts and fold them in the middle then I placed the hearts playfully around the rainbow. I love the beautiful, fun and playful text on the pocket page cards. I choose a pocketpage card tear it a little at the top and stitch a tab on the side with blue sewing thread. I decorate the pocketpage card with a die-cut and a puffy sunglasses.

 

I absolutely love the cute little “Sunkissed” puffy stickers. I even used them on the flower clusters. I tried to create a little bit of the tropical vibe.  I cut a pocket page card to size and placed it behind the black and white photo of me and my hubby. I decorated the photo with a tiny heart and a colorful word die-cut. On the right side of the photo, I playfully stitched a view labels and word strips together with light bleu sewing thread. I playfully glued the labels on my layout and decorated them with three gold hearts.

 

In the center of the layout, I left extra space for the title. The awesome gold glitter title words fit perfectly on my sunny and tropical layout. I choose for the title “Happy Days” This title and of course the white gesso splatters make my layout complete.

Happy Days | These Days | Josefine Van der Hoeven

Hello Paperlovers, So happy to see you on the Cocoa Vanilla blog today! I chose the amazing collection “These Days” designed by of course Coco Vanilla Studio. I absolutely love the beautiful colors in this collection that fit perfectly to create a beach themed layout. With this blog I want to take you through my creative process…..

I started with a blank white cardstock sheet and took inspiration from cardmakers. Instead of one decorated circle, I place four in a grid pattern on my white cardstock sheet.I choose several pattern papers and cut out three circles. Then I cut out three circle edges. I add a light blue sewing stitch to these circle edges. I also provide the beach picture with a light blue sewing stitch.

 

 

I placed the circle edges with 3D tape on top of the pattern circles. This way I created more dimension and can slide the flower die-cuts between the layers much easier.

 

 

I love creating different layers with so many beautiful and different embellishments from this amazing collection. I choose different floral die-cuts, butterflies cut from patterned paper, wooden buttons, little cute gold colored heart and different word stickers. I absolutely love how the differents clusters turned out.

For the title “Happy Days” I used a shape die-cut along with the mini puffy alphabet. See the little title cluster on the photo. For a real beach vibe, I made a view white splatters with gesso. I mixed gesso with a little bit of water and I used a water color brush to splatter. I also made some light pink splatters using the Distress Oxide color “Saltwater taffy” I hope I was able to inspire you with this scrapbook layout and hope to see you on the blog next time. The Best | Unforgettable collection | Sophie Delorme

Hey Cocoa Vanilla friends!

It’s Sophie with you today with a new layout to share!

 

I use the beautiful Unforgettable collection this time. I wanted to highlight a yummy dessert that my sweet Sabrina baked and was so proud of!

I started with a thick white cardstock and used three colors from @Shimmerzpaints to create a little mixed media background.

I cut two pieces of the Sprightly paper and placed them horizontally on the top and bottom of the page. I did a zigzag stitch at their edge.

 

I centered my photo and mounted it on tissue paper and foam adhesive. I decorated in little clusters of embellishments around my photo and used the Foam Title Stickers – my favorites amongst all! – to create my title.

 

I scattered a few butterflies, handwrote my journaling directly on my background and stamped the date.

I am so happy with the result! I only had a few elements from that amazing collection left and tended to hoard them…! I am glad that I used them on this project!

My Sweet girl | Daydreams | These days | Josefine. vd Hoeven

Hello Paperlovers, And welcome to the Cocoa Vanilla blog. Today I have some new scrapbook. inspiration for you with the amazing collections “Daydream” and “These Days” These are the collections that make me love Cocoa Vanilla Studio so much! So beautiful, delicate and sweet.

I started with a piece of white cardstock. I cut the large black and white photo of my daughter into a circle. I choose a patterned paper from the “Daydream” collection and cut it into a slightly larger circle and place it behind the photo. Then I stitch the round border with light blue sewing thread.

For the butterflies, I used an older cutting template from Provocraft. Of course, you can use any butterfly cutting template you have in your stash. You can also use your electronic cutting machine to cut out a view butterflies. I choose different pattern papers from the “Daydream” and the “These Days” collection for the butterflies. (A small detail, I stitch the butterflies in the center with light blue sewing thread.)

I fussy cut several flowers from the patterned paper. Along with the butterflies, I create a two large clusters on each side. I use adhesive tape and 3D foam to create more dimension.Have you spotted the beautiful green fabric heart yet?

 

I cut a few extra butterflies from the pattern paper from the ” These Days” collection. I placed these cute little butterflies around the punched out butterflies.For the title, I used the mini puffy alphabet (These Days) and the die-cut Ephemera title (Daydream) I place the title between the two clusters below the photo. For an extra touch, I make splatters with white gesso and distress oxide (Saltwater taffy). I mix the white gesso with water and used a water color brush to apply the splatters to my layout.

First day of Grade Six | Storyteller | Michelle Stokes

Hey Everyone it’s Michelle back with you today to share a super quick layout featuring the amazing Storyteller Collection. I’m still loving this collection with all its bright primary colours, perfect for documenting some first day of school photos that almost didn’t make it to print!

I knew I wanted to create something fast, simple and pretty all at the same time, and as we’re still in the month of ‘love’ I felt it needed to incorporate some kind of large heart design along with groups of pretty florals. The layout ended up being exactly what I was aiming for and will be a well cherished addition to Leila’s childhood albums for years to come.

I started off by finding a generic heart shape through google, and cutting the large shape out in the middle of some white cardstock using my silhouette. I adhered this piece to a second layer of white cardstock using foam sheets to give it some flat dimension.

I knew I’d be adding lots of colours to the layout in the way of floral clusters, so to avoid any pattern/ colour clashing I printed the photos of Leila in Black and White at just a smidge over 3x2inch size. I backed both photos with the woodgrain paper (Cross it Off) from the collection, added a couple of accessory stickers and adhered these pieces to the left of the heart using more foam sheeting to pop them up off the page a little.

The floral clusters came together so nicely but were probably the parts of the layout that took the longest. Fussy cutting is quite therapeutic, yet time consuming. I added a mix of ephemera pieces and accessory stickers to each of the groups to mix them up. The beautiful florals are from a mix of both the 12×12 and A5 version of the Spring Fling paper.

I used a mix of adhesives for the clusters, mostly foam tape and glue dots for slight dimension.

There’s also a sneaky enamel heart within each cluster for a finishing touch within each group.

I created a mixed font title using the usual blend of both handwritten text and my beloved white alpha stickers, with the addition of machine stitching for extra detail and to keep them in place.

Here’s a closer look at how sweet these alphas are, lets all keep our fingers and toes crossed that they make an appearance back in the CVS store sometime in the future as they really are the best for creating titles with.

I added the usual gold ink splatters around the layout to finish it all off to, something I do to all layouts to make them feel complete.

Here’s one final look at the entire layout and all its white space goodness!

My Sunshine | Daydream Collection | Rachel Lowe

Hello CVS friends! Today I am sharing a layout created using the gorgeous Daydream collection. My stash is running low and that makes me sad because it is one of my fav collections. On the bright side I am scrapping the cutest puppy ever!

As most of you know I am a huge fan of rainbows and I fell in love with this cut file one available from the Silhouette Design store. As the colours of Daydream are muted I decided to cut the file in black to provide a stark contrast. I cut my white cardstock down to 10×10 inches, splashed with black paint and then machine stitched onto the base paper cresting a larger border.

I added the rainbow strips using a large and small floral, then a block colour piece. I added the heart paper pieces using the lightest colour to balance out the colours and patterns.

I next added my photo and used a wood grain photo frame die cut. I fussy cut some smaller flowers and added to the bottom of the frame. I added the sun sticker from the accessory sticker sheet tucking it under my frame and finished off adding a phrase sentiment tab and butterfly die cut. All of this draws your eye to the photo.

I next created my title using a die cut title word and also words from the accessory sticker sheet. I added the title die cut with foam tape to add dimension and added over the hearts at the bottom of the rainbow die cut.

I created a journalling block fussy cutting out of one of the pocket cards from the collection. I cut it straight and attached under the white cardstock as I forgot to add before I added the black machine stitching! I had to add a fabric Puffy Heart just because I love them.

Lastly I added a floral cluster to the right top side of the rainbow, slightly tucking them under and then finished off with another butterfly added with foam tape. I am so glad I went with the black accents as I think it really gives this layout a bit of a wow factor.
