Captured | Unforgettable Collection | Tarrah McLean

Hi Cocoa Vanilla friends!

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing another layout featuring the gorgeous brand new Unforgettable collection! I am also featuring one of the stunning FREE cut files by Cut To You. The Unforgettable collection and the cut file go together beautifully!I chose a pink, grey and white colour scheme for my layout today, I pulled some of the papers and lots of embellishments that were in that colour scheme and started out by cutting the cut file on white cardstock, I cut the file out with the intention of leaving some of the design inside the cardstock. I loved how I could pop out the hearts and create a dimensional look with them. I backed the cut file design with the pink paper and then machine stitched around the circle – you can see more detail in the photo below. I then matted the cut file and pink paper onto one of the grey patterned papers. The photo is of my sister and I at our brothers wedding a couple of years ago, not often we get photos together with both my sister and brother living in England now. I added lots of paper layers underneath my photo and used foam tape to pop up my photo from the page. In the photo below, you can see I added a cluster of embellishments including some die-cuts and accessory stickers, I used foam dots again to lift up the camera die-cut and I also added one of the enamel dots to the centre – hooray for enamel dots making a come back in this collection! I love them! Over one the right hand side is another cluster featuring some of the floral and butterfly die-cuts. I also added one of the cute bows to the right of my title. My title is one of the gorgeous foam word titles, these are brilliant to add to any project, they make a statement and they really pop off the page too! I added one of the larger butterfly die-cuts to the left of the title to balance out the with the smaller one on the right hand side. A couple more enamel dots and a couple pf the gorgeous clear stickers were also added for some extra interest and texture.

We Remember Moments | Unforgettable Collection | Guest Designer Danni Visser

Hi scrappy friends! Guest designer Danni here, sharing another layout featuring the gorgeous Unforgettable collection. I have been having so much fun creating with this collection, and this time I decided I had to dive into those delicious florals and make a beautiful romantic layout.

I used Natural Beauty and Sprightly patterned papers to create a diamond-shaped background, including some torn vellum for texture.

I had this lovely roses cutfile sitting in my stash, so I decided to incorporate that, backing it with several patterned papers from the 6×8 paper stack and some more vellum.  I popped it up off the page by adding some dimensional foam behind the patterned paper.

My photo was matted using the lovely turquoise and black & white spotty papers from the 6×8 paper stack, and I distressed the edges to add texture.  For my title I cut this beautiful quote card from the Story Teller cut-apart paper and backed it with the peach paper from the 6×8 paper stack to make it pop against the black & white photo.

To embellish the page, I went to town with the florals from the ephemera pack.  I adore florals and this ephemera set is packed full of the most stunning floral die cuts.  I used the two largest clusters at the top-right and bottom-left of the diamond to emphasise the diagonal flow of the page, drawing the eye across my photo and title.  I added some smaller florals either side of my photo with some of the beautiful leafy springs from the ephemera pack.

To finish off the layout I scattered three tiny word stickers from the accessory sticker sheet, added some delicate white ink splatters and sprinkled some of the white enamel dots from the collection around my large floral clusters.

This layout turned out so dreamy and romantic, I’m absolutely thrilled to be able to add this layout to my wedding album.  I really hope you enjoyed this layout today, thank you for joining me!

BLOOM | UNFORGETTABLE | GWEN WRUCK

Hi Creative Friends,

Gwen on the blog today – Happy Wednesday to you all.  I’m so excited to be back with another Cocoa Vanilla Studio share.  I’ve had some more time to play with the new ‘Unforgettable’ collection which I am absolutely loving!  I was looking through my pages recently and noticed that I hadn’t done one of myself in a while.  I can’t say I love scrapbooking about ‘me’ but I know how important it is, so pushed through the self-consciousness and got to creating.

The inspiration for the page came from all the pretty florals in the collection and the word from the Foam Titles ‘Bloom’.  I wanted to document some changes that have been happening personally for me over the past year or so and love this sentiment.  We should always be growing and developing and I thought this would be a nice page to represent that.  (I’ve put a lot of journaling on the back of this one!)

With so many pretty pattern papers in the collection, I wasn’t sure where to start so I pulled out the ‘Pretty Bits’ paper and trimmed it so that I would have some colour blocks of the patterns.  When in doubt as to which pattern to use, I went with using them all!!  I’ve positioned the strips on the left and right sides of my page.

 

Next, I’ve taken another strip, wider this time, from the same pattern paper and added that to create a wider block of colour.  I’ve also now added some machine stitching down the edges for added detail.  Now it was time to mat my photo.  For this, I’ve gone with the ‘Garland’ paper.  I can’t believe I chopped into that wreath on the other side of this paper, thank goodness the Collection pack has two sheets of each design!

I’ve added more stitching around my photo, I just love how it sets it off.  Now it was time to play with the elements from the Ephemera Pack.  To start, I pulled out the black and white wreath element.  I’ve cut that in half to stretch it out over my page.  One half went above my photo, the other on the right as the base of my element cluster.

I’ve gone through the pack adding elements running from the top left of the page, down the centre line to the bottom right-hand corner.  I find this helps draw the eye around the page.  I’ve also added in the title at this point, above my photo and across the wide blocks of colour from the pattern paper.  I just the pop of black in this collection, so striking!

I’ve also added in a flair button as well as a cute bow.  I love the dimension these elements add to the page AND you all know how much I love a bow!

XOXO | Midnight Collection | Anita Bownds

Hi crafty friends Anita here with you today sharing a floral layout using the midnight collection.
I always love this time of the year when the flowers are in bloom and the butterflies are flying about our garden full of life …for my layout I wanted the design to be light and shabby chic looking ..
I started off my cutting out a cut file from Paige Evans heart swirl from moonlight and then adhering it onto white cardstock that I trimmed down to add a border around it using the B side moonlight 

 

I then wanted to add this beautiful floral cut file from Paige Evans poppies I had on my desk so I decided to back it with glassine paper then backed again on to the floral pattern paper from the midnight 6×8 paper pad to give it a lighter look

 

I backed my 3×4 photo on pattered paper from the midnight 6×8 and shine bright and adhered both photo and floral cut file down at the same time then using the ephemera and accessory stickers I added them around my photo and background

 

I die cut a mini bow from the 6×8 paper pad and then added a chipboard heart to the middle to add to a paper clip
Then to finish off my layout I flicked black mist and added machine stitching around the border.

Always be yourself | Bohemian Dream Layout | Anna Komenda

Hello crafty Friends. It’s Anna here with my newest page created with CVS goodies. I was cleaning my box with Cocoa Vanilla embellishments to make room for new line (how pretty is it, right? ) and I discovered the set of vellum pieces from “Bohemian dream” collection. It inspired me to use this line in my next project.

I also challenged myself to use up as many vellum pieces as possible. That is why I decided to use white background. Transparent vellum looks best on lightly colored papers. I arranged my composition in three rows adding machine stitching over the vellum flowers. Thanks to that I didn’t have to use a lot of glue, which doesn’t work well with vellum making it wave.

I enriched my composition adding bits and pieces from ephemera pack and few leftover chipboard stickers. I love this collection so much that I almost used it to bits.

I have a little tip for you for leftover ephemera pieces. If some elements are too big or you know you won’t use them the way they are, try to fussy cut elements from them like I did with few little birds. I cut them out from tickets and they became perfect, little embellishments.

I finished my composition adding few enamel dots from various collections, like those glittery ones from “Make a wish” line.

Sweet Moments | Midnight Collection | Michelle Stokes

Hello Crafty friends, its Michelle back today. I have a new layout to share with you all that’s based on the super cute Page Maps sketch shared by my fellow team members this past week. I had so much fun using the sketch as a kick starter for this layout, and that Midnight collection worked perfectly with the floral design elements

Love that these photos document a sweet moment shared between both Leila and my nephew from a few years back. They both love to read

TO begin the layout I cut down a piece of white cardstock to roughly 11.5inch square and adhered to a 12×12 piece of the stunningly beautiful INKY DEPTHS paper. Love the tiny floral design of that pattern paper. Once the 2 papers were secure I roughly drew then sewed multiple circle shapes similar to the large version on the sketch.

I gathered a couple of photos, printed black and white so as not to clash with the colours of the sweet Midnight collection. There were layered to the right of the large sewn circles and adhered using foam tape for slight dimension. I’ve tucked some ephemera pieces and fussy cut florals from the BLOOM AND GROW paper above the top photo

Between the photos I’ve layered a strip of roughly torn pink paper from the ombre SHINE BRIGHT design and a piece of the  blue and white diagonal stripe frame found in the ephemera pack to replicate the scalloped piece on the sketch. I’ve also added a second piece of the torn pink paper to the top of the layout

TO the left of the photos I created the large title cluster using more elements from the ephemera pack and die cut titles that looked similar to those on the sketch. Especially those mason jars and florals. Perfect pieces! To give them all different dimensional heights I’ve used multiple adhesives – raised and flat glue dots, foam tape and good ol tacky glue.

Lastly I added some handwritten journalling and a few splatters of gold ink and called it done.

You and Me | Page Maps | Free Spirit Collection | Tarrah McLean

Hi Cocoa Vanilla friends!

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new layout using the gorgeous Free Spirit collection. Today my inspiration comes from the awesome sketch from Page Maps some of the design team were given to work with for this week.

I still have a few bits from some of the older CVS collections so I decided to pull out the pretty Free Spirit collection and work with that. I stuck to the sketch design pretty closely, even adding the same elements the sketch suggested. I changed it slightly to balance the page and also replaced a suggested photo for paper instead.  I started off by trimming some white cardstock down and then machine stitching 2 circles. I then adhered the white cardstock to one of the gorgeous floral papers. I matted my photo with one of the papers from the Free Spirit collection and also layered another one above to replace the 2nd photo as I mentioned earlier. I also added some of the journal spots as a layering piece. I added one of the scalloped border stickers above the photo of my sister and I also added a few embellishments to this area also. I fussy cut the ‘You and Me’ title from one of the journal cards included on one of the papers from the Free Spirit collection and positioned it where the sketch suggested. I cut out the pink phrase ‘Hello Happiness’ and added that tucked in under my photo and also layered the ‘Wonderful’ die-cut phrases over the photo also. One of the cute flair buttons and a die-cut heart were added to the left of the photo. On the sketch, the suggestion is to place a large embellishment like a jar of flowers, I added one of the floral stickers from the accessory sticker sheet here instead and I really like how it looks.    Lastly I added the die cut banner popped up using pop dots to the top left corner touching the machine stitching, I also sprinkled some white sequins around and some navy Heidi shine mist. The date stamp was the very last thing added and that completes my layout.

DREAM LOVE | BOHEMIAN DREAM | GWEN WRUCK

Hi Creative Friends,

I hope you are having a wonderful day, thanks for popping by the blog!  Gwen here today sharing a new layout featuring my favourite CVS collection of all time ‘Bohemian Dream‘.  It’s crazy to me that I call it that, as I’m not normally a lover of purple, but this collection just nails it for me! I’ve paired it with a CUT to YOU cut file, to document a sweet photo of my little miss.

I didn’t really have a story to document with this photo, it was taken on a random day, but these are actually my favourite kinds of photos to scrap.  I use them in my albums to share with my daughter just how loved she is.  I love that when she flips the pages she can see lovely messages about living her dream, shining bright and that she is so loved and this collection for me is perfect for doing that!

Ok, so onto the layout!  I started by backing my cut file.  I’ve used a combination of the ‘Abstract‘ paper and the ‘Abundant‘ paper to add stripes to my butterflies.  Yes, this took a while, but I think the end result is worth it.  Once that was done, I’ve used some watercolours to add patches of watercolour over some of the flowers on the cut file.  I’ve also left some of the flowers plain white.

Next, I’ve matted my photo, I’ve used more of the ‘Abstract‘ paper for this and stitched around the edge as I do with most of my layouts.  It was now time to think about the background of my page.  For this, I’ve grabbed a plain white piece of cardstock and added more of the same watercolours that I used on the cut file.  I think this helps the page come together with a consistent look.  Once happy with the watercolour background, I’ve mounted the entire sheet onto more of the ‘Abundant‘ paper and stitched around the edge.

With the background looking good, and the cut file done, it was now time to bring everything together.  I’ve mounted the cut file piece onto some foam tape and added to my background.  I’ve then added in my photo, mounting it as well for extra dimension.

Now for the fun bit!  I’ve gone through all of the wonderful bits and pieces from the collection to see what I could add to my page.  I’ve started with the ‘Ephemera Pack‘ as well as the ‘Flair Buttons‘.  I’ve grabbed my title from the chipboard embellishment pack and also added some stickers from the ‘Accessory Stickers‘ sheet.

I’ve just pulled out anything I think would fit and then auditioned them in various spots all over my page.  I must say, I am totally crushing on the watercolour flowers in this collection, they really suit this layout with the other watercolour elements I’ve added.  I’ve finished off the page with some enamel dots and a plain white button from my stash.

SISTERS | HAPPINESS | GWEN WRUCK

Hi Creative Friends,

It’s Gwen with you on the blog today sharing a very special page.  Today is International Sister’s day and to celebrate, I’ve created a page that documents my relationship with my sister.   It features the stunning ‘Happiness’ collection and a photo taken with my sister at a lunch outing we had recently.

The inspiration for this page absolutely started with my photo.  I love how blue that sky is behind us and was immediately drawn to the blue watercolour design of the ‘Good Times’ pattern paper.  I then took a cut file from my stash, this one from CUT to YOU as it was perfect for today’s theme celebrating sisters.  I’ve cut it out as a statement title for my page using the ‘Botanical Bliss’ pattern paper.  I wanted a real contrast between the file and the background for my layout which I had planned to make white.  I backed it with the stunning blue watercolour pattern paper; ‘Good Times’.

With my cut file sorted, I went to work on the design of my page.  I mounted my photo with the ‘Expressive’ pattern paper and then backed on foam for dimension and added machine stitching.  Once I was sure where these large elements were going to go, the page looked a little too plain for what I had in mind, so I thought it might be fun to add a little bit of mixed media onto my background.

I’ve added clear gesso to some thick white cardstock and then used some mists, spraying and moving around the colour until I was happy.  I like my mixed media to be a little subtle and soft, but do love the addition it makes to this page.  It adds another layer of detail and softens the plain white background I had previously.

Once my background was dry, I’ve added my cut file (with foam tape for dimension) and my photo… Now it was time for some embellishing!

I began by fussy cutting out some pink butterflies from the ‘Bright and Beautiful’ pattern paper.  I also pulled out some of the floral pieces from the ‘Die Cut Ephemera’ pack.  I then went about creating a floral cluster down the right-hand side of my photo.  I then scattered the butterflies over my page and added a few more elements from the Die Cut Ephemera pack.  The bow you see below has been cut with a die with some of the scrap ‘Botanical Bliss’ pattern paper.

To finish the page off, I’ve grabbed some sentiment stickers from the ‘Accessory Sticker Sheet’ and added.
