STAY COLOURFUL | HAPPINESS | GWEN WRUCK

Hi Creative friends, Gwen back on the blog today with some more scrapbook inspiration for you. For this page, I was super inspired to work with some bright and fun colours so I’ve gone to the ‘Happiness‘ collection. It’s one of my favourites; I just love how saturated the colours are, so so bright and happy. I’ve used a collage of selfie photos taken of my daughter and I from a couple of years back printed in black and white to balance out all of the other colours in the collection.

To create the background of my page, I’ve used the ‘Little Things‘ pattern paper B side with the fun green spots. Over the top of that, I’ve layered a cut file from CUT to YOU which I’ve cut out using the ‘Meadow‘ paper.

Next up, I’ve mounted my photos with a double mount. The first is the ‘Expressive‘ pattern paper, the second is the ‘Botanical Bliss‘ pattern paper. I did not glue the entire cut file to the background, I like how some of the leaves are slightly raised, it adds a really nice texture and feel to the background.

I’ve then gone about building my paper layers using elements from the collection. I’ve used floral die cuts and pretty banners from the ‘Ephemera Pack‘ as well as stickers from the ‘Accessory Stickers Sheet‘. The butterflies have been fussy cut out of the ‘Bright and Beautiful‘ pattern paper.

I’ve also added in a flair button from the ‘Flair pack‘ as well as some ‘Sparklers’ from the Wild at Heart collection. I love adding different textures into my clusters and will mix paper elements including stickers, chipboard and die cuts with bulkier things like flair buttons to add interest.

I’ve also added in some sweet little leaves to fill out the floral clusters, these are also from the ‘Die Cut Ephemera‘ pack. There are 58 pieces in this pack and all of them are gorgeous!

I’ve finished the layout by adding in my title, this one from the ‘Die Cut Titles‘ pack. This pack has so many elements in it and I just love that the titles are a mix of sizes and lengths. I’ve layered it up on foam for dimension. You can also see below more elements from the ‘Die Cut Ephemera’ pack which I’ve layered up to build my cluster.

Pumpkin hunt | Daydream Layout | Anna Komenda

Hello Friends. It’s Anna here with my first ever project made with beautiful and brand new “Daydream” collection. Other DT girls already floaded you with amazing and very inspiring inspirations made with this line and I wanted to do something a little bit different. I felt so temptated to use pretty “Over the rainbow” paper but it’s basically scrapbook by itself :) You only add photo, title and few flowers and page is done. Then I got an idea of using this line into the fall project becasue of all those muted colors. I found two photos of my girls holding pumpkins. Then the second idea came to my head – let’s make a page that looks like made with digital die cutting machine without actually using it. This is how it all turned out:

I used three different pattern papers to hand cut three wonky pumpkins. After all, they come in different shapes and sizes in nature too, right? I added some stitching to make them look more like pumknins and cut out some leaves and those green swirls (I even do not know polish name for them). I glued them over the “Garden variety” paper and added the frame with wooden pattern from “Over the rainbow” sheet.

I placed my photos over the pumpkins and I was ready for embellishing. I used up many flowers and other elements from ephemera pack. I am so in love with how cute and versatile it is. I only did two projects so far with “Daydream” line but I almost use up first package of the ephemera pieces! 6*12 stickers are also a perfect little thigs for small accents.

I placed flowers on the pumpkins to add more colors to my composition. I think I would be able to use up any quantity of those flowers I have in my hands. They are so pretty.

My layout title was created with older alpha stickers from “Totally rad” line. I still have plenty of them and use them whenever I can. I also recorded a process video for you, so you can follow my creative process :)

Oh Happy Day | Daydream Collection | Melissa Vining

Hello friends!! Its Melissa here and I’m back to share a grid layout that I created with the gorgeous ‘DAYDREAM’ Collection!  I really can’t get enough of it at the moment, and I was so excited to create a layout for our theme this week of sequins, hearts and flowers!  My oldest daughter recently turned 11, and I was really keen to get her birthday party cake photos scrapped. I went with a bold background for a change and used ‘UP IN THE CLOUDS’ which has beautiful small feathers and leaves on it.

As well as scattering sequins from the ‘SEQUINS AND FLOWERS’ from the collection I also wanted to use them in a creative way, so I hand stitched two rows of them onto one of the rainbows from the ‘DIE CUT EPHEMERA’. I used embroidery threads in matching colours, and also chain stitched on the two rows of the rainbow that I didn’t add sequins to.  It ended up so cute and I love how it looks!

I didn’t add anymore patterned paper to my layout, but instead used two three of the frames from the ‘DIE CUT EPHEMERA’. I used white gesso around the frames to soften the visual transition to the bold background paper. It also enabled me to paint and splatter some shimmery mist for a subtle mixed media effect.   I embellished the frames with ephemera flowers, and I also used three of the paper flowers from the ‘SEQUINS AND FLOWERS’.  Of course I had to add one of the “PUFFY HEARTS’ and Azaria chose the yellow one.

I made my title with one of the ‘DIE CUT TITLES’ and the “Happy Day” is from the ‘DIE CUT EPHEMERA’, but I cut the ‘s’ of the end of the word ‘Days”.  I really wanted to play on the birthday theme of my page.

I added two rows of machine stitching to my third frame and popped up an ephemera flower cluster.  I also added a sticker from the ‘ACCESSORY STICKERS’.  I also added some of the gold leaf sequins to my flowers for extra interest.

Our Home | Daydream collection | Tarrah McLean

Hi everyone!

It’s Tarrah back with you on the Cocoa Vanilla blog and today I am sharing another new layout featuring the amazing new Daydream collection!

This week some of the design team are focusing on using the super cute puffy hearts and gorgeous sequins included in the Daydream collection!

I started out by choosing a super cute house cut file from CUT to YOU, I cut it from white cardstock and then backed all the different parts of the house with the gorgeous papers from the 6′ x 8′ paper pad. The paper pad is perfect for backing cut files and for making cards with, it means you do not have to cut into a full sheet of 12′ x 12′ paper just to use a small section. Once the sections were all backed, I adhered the entire cut file to plain white cardstock using craft foam to give it some dimension and I then trimmed the white cardstock down and matted the entire page with the ‘B’ side of the Garden Variety paper. I then machine stitched around the white edge of the white cardstock for some extra texture and detail.

As I went for a home themed page design, I documented a photo of my gorgeous nieces at their home cuddling up with a doona together. I placed the photo to the right side of the house cut file so that you could still see the door of the house! I knew I wanted to add the ‘Happy Days With You’ banner sticker to the front door as you can see in the detail photo below. To the right of the photo, I tucked in one of the journal tabs, some cute flower die-cuts and a small tab that says ‘Sweet’. I also layered one of the moth die-cuts to the bottom right corner of the photo. Underneath the photo, I created a another small cluster including a small house die-cut with layered stickers over the top. Here I also stamped the date stamp of when the photo was taken.

The Daydream collection has the most gorgeous rainbows included in it so I added one of the rainbow stickers above the photo, it was the perfect size. I wanted to add the small yellow sequins to the windows of the cut file design to replicate a reflecting look like you would get from the glass of actual windows, I think these look cute placed here.

I also wanted to give the roof of the house cut file some texture like rooves have so the sequins were the perfect element to add here. They fit perfectly and give some texture to enhance the roof in the design. I also placed the mint green puffy heart to the heart in the cut file design – again the prefect embellishment to add here! The title is made up of the cardstock die-cut words, I added foam dots under the title to help pop it up off the page. I love the dimension it created. I added a few more phrase accessory stickers below the title here. The chimney at the top of the house was looking a little bare so I decided to add some of the small floral die-cuts tucked into it. I think these look cute too! Lastly I added another moth up near the chimney and a heart sticker too.

Big Heart | Daydream Collection | Sophie Delorme

Hello crafty friends !

 

It’s Sophie with you today and I am so happy to share my very first layout created with the GORGEOUS Daydream collection !

 

 

I went for a rainbow-themed layout, inspired by all the rainbow pages we have on the CVS Facebook group !

 

I started my design by cutting a simple rainbow with my cutting machine on thick white cardstock.

 

I backed each ray of the rainbow with different patterned papers from the collection, namely “Happy Place“, “Sun Shower“, “All Aflutter” and “Sweet Serenity“. I also machine stitched between the rays with white thread.

 

I played with my water-colours to add just a little bit of interest on the white background, mostly around where I had planned to put my photo.

 

I used a photo of Sabrina and our dog to illustrate how lucky they are to have each other in those difficult Covid times. I placed it on one end of the rainbow, added tissue paper and adhesive foam behind it.

 

I cut a big strip of my white background paper on the bottom of the layout, punched a scalloped border and added the beautiful woodgrain patterned paper from Daydream called “Over the Rainbow” underneath the white cardstock.

 

I created a cluster of flowers on the bottom of my photo and tucked a few flowers underneath the scalloped border as well. They all come from the beautiful Die Cut Ephemera pack from the Daydream collection.

 

 

I used the Daydream Die Cut Titles for my “Big Heart” title, and hand wrote my journaling directly on the background.

 

Finally, I hand drew three clouds on which I applied a little bit of water-colour paint. I layered them with white cardstock and adhesive foam to make them stand out over the rainbow.

 

 

Isn’t this collection just AMAZING ?!!? I can’t get enough of everything about it !!

 

I hope you like the end result and that it will give you some ideas to get crafty and play with Daydream !

BE A RAINBOW | DAYDREAM | GWEN WRUCK

Hi Creative friends, Gwen back on the blog today with a new layout share.  This week the design team are all sharing projects inspired by Rainbows, how fun right! If you are a fan of Rainbows (and who isn’t) you’ll want to be sure to check out all of the projects if you haven’t already, they are all stunners! I’m also using the new ‘Daydream’ collection which is so perfect for this theme.

Seeing our theme this week is ‘Rainbows’ I was super eager to use this fun Rainbow cut file, (CUT to YOU). I’ve gone ahead and backed it with the ‘Sweet Serenity’ pattern paper. I’ve used both the A and B sides for this and then finished off my Rainbow cut file with some stitching in a pretty pink thread. I’ve then added foam tape to the back and positioned onto my background.

The background for the page is the ‘Sun Shower’ pattern paper, I adore the sweet little raindrop print on this one, the print is so fun for using as a background on your page.

Next, I wanted to position my photo… I do this early as I like to work from the largest elements to the smallest. I’ve chosen to place it on the left so that my daughter (in the picture) is looking in toward the centre of the layout.

Now I can get onto adding some pretty details. I’ve fussy cut out a stack of florals from the ‘Garden Variety’ pattern paper as well as some title elements from the ‘Happy Place’ Cut Apart sheet. I’ve added foam tape to some of these for dimension.

You can see below here that I’ve also added in a flair from the ‘flair pack’ and that cute heart from the ‘Puffy Hearts pack’, the hearts are so sweet and have an added gold detail.

Next, I’ve added in some typed sentiment stickers from the ‘Accessory Sticker Sheet’ and finished the page off with some fussy cut out moths from the ‘All A Flutter’ pattern paper. **TIP – Fussy cut out elements from pattern papers in advance, then you have a sweet stash to add to your page as you are creating.

LAZY SUMMER DAYS | ENDLESS SUMMER | GWEN WRUCK

Hi Creative friends, Gwen back on the blog today with a new share and today, I’m playing along with our Throwback Thursday challenge. For this page, I was really inspired to use my stash of ‘Endless Summer‘. This collection is a few years old now but it’s still one of my absolute favourites, I love the warm tones of this line and as you’d expect it’s perfect to use for Summer adventures. This photo was also taken a few years back now on a family cruising holiday.

I started my page by working on the background first layering up the ‘Blue Skies’, ‘Sweet Treats’ and ‘Sunbleached’ pattern papers. To create the Sunshine rays, I’ve used a cut file from CUT to YOU and added stitching for a really sweet detail.

For my title, I’m working with another cut file, this one called ‘Lazy Summer Days’ which I have backed with the ‘Blue Skies’ pattern paper and mounted on some foam for dimension.

I’ve kept things pretty simple with my photo for this one, no photo mat, just some of my signature stitching around the edge. It ties in nicely with the stitching in the sun rays. I’ve made sure to position my photo and large title first working on a design that flows with the rays of the sunshine in my background.

I’ve added lots of pretty embellishments to this page, there were so many wonderful goodies included in the collection, some still available online. I’ve used the ‘Puffy Stickers‘, ‘Accessory Stickers‘, Flair, Wood Veneer and Woodies.

To round out my title, I’ve taken a few elements from the ‘Ephemera Pack’ such as the cute banner pieces that say ‘Capture This’ and ‘Here’s the Story’. They are all in that lovely warm peach tone so fit perfectly. You can also see here the ‘Wood Veneer’ pieces and the enamel ‘Woodies’. I really just kept playing with the position of everything, adding bits and pieces until I was happy with the layout.

Happy Heart | Bohemian Dream | Rachel Lowe

Hi CVS friends, Rachel here! Today I have a fun layout using lots of colour and busy patterns which if done in a balanced way and with a white (or black) contrast totally work. I have used Bohemian Dream collection. I cut a piece of white cardstock to 10×10 inches. I added some turquoise paint brush strokes randomly across the page and splattered lightly with some black paint (this is as messy as I can get lol). I then added messy machine stitching in a turquoise colour. I also tore some of the white cardstock edges for texture.I attached this to the stunning Abundant paper as a stunning border. I used two floral cut files from the Silhouette Design to add to the sides of my pages. I used another busy paper Flower Child  to paper back these, which you can do as they have the white background paper to contrast.I love using the Accessory Stickers to create my journalling which I usually tuck into embellishment cluster.I added my photo using s die cut frame and then added more florals to either side and finished off adding some phrase banners under my photo and not forgetting a gorgeous butterfly which I had to add because the colour was perfect! I also added my photo with foam tape which I always do when I am using a smaller photo so it has dimension.Lastly I added my title using a die cut and accessory sticker words, I love the contrast between big and small in a title. I went back and added some enamel dots to add more texture.This layout would be perfect for a teenage girl themed layout, it’s modern, bright, bold and lots of fun!Thank you so much for stopping by today and I am so excited to share my first layout using the stunning Day Dream collection, so see you all soon. FAMILY MOMENTS | DAYDREAM | GWEN WRUCK

Hi Creative friends, Gwen back on the blog today with a new share and I’m so excited to be using the brand new collection ‘Day Dream’. This is the first layout I’ve created with this collection and I absolutely loved working with it, so soft and pretty! This week on the blog we are being inspired by the theme ‘Outdoor Adventures’ so I thought it would be fun to document a couple of photos from a recent family trip to Rainbow Beach.

The design of the page was inspired by my photos and this sweet pattern paper called ‘Over the Rainbow’. As soon as I saw the pattern paper, the idea popped into my head to make a little scene of sorts with the rainbow crossing over the sky in my pics.

I began by fussy cutting out the rainbow design and then placing it onto the ‘Sweet Serenity’ pattern paper and adding stitching along each of the rainbow arcs. Next, I’ve positioned my photos underneath the rainbow, mounting on the ‘Garden Variety’ pattern paper from the 6×8 paper pad. I love using the paper pad to back my photos as the prints in the designs are smaller and they translate really well as photo mats. I’ve raised my photos up on foam for dimension.

I’ve then gone ahead and placed the larger die-cut pieces, the florals are from the ‘Ephemera Pack’ and the title is from the ‘Die Cut Titles’ pack. Placing the larger elements first helps the page come together quickly. I’ve also raised some of these elements up on foam tape for dimension. I love mixing and matching the heights of elements on my page.

I’ve then worked on creating my ‘flowing clusters’ as I like to call them… clusters of embellishments that draw the eye around the page.

I’ve used a combination of elements from the ‘Accessory Sticker sheet’, ‘Die Cut Ephemera pack’ and the ‘Flair button pack’ to create one main cluster and two smaller ones that draw the eye from the top of the rainbow down to the photos.

To finish the page off, I’ve fussy cut out three of the cute moth elements from the ‘All Aflutter’ pattern paper and two of the cute hearts from the ‘Puffy Hearts’ pack, these smaller elements add texture and interest and finish off the page really nicely.

Hello Little Miss Sweet Face | Happiness Collection | Michelle Stokes

Hey Everyone its Michelle here today. I have a new layout to share with you all that I’ve made for our current ‘Texture’ theme using the bright and cheerful Happiness Collection. Texture can be added to layouts in a multitude of ways using a variety of techniques and products. Now I’m no good at Mixed Media layouts, they always turn out terrible, so I’ve chosen to go down the ‘clean’ scrapping path that I’m comfortable and familiar with to save you from the horror HAHA

I began with a bunch of scrap papers from the Happiness collection which I cut into different size strips, using a mix of both 6×8 and full size patterns. I added texture to each strip by lightly distressing the edges using my fingernail, and gave myself a few paper cuts along the way. To save your own fingers from the same fate as mine you can get this same effect using a distress tool or the edge of a pair of scissors.

I adhered the strips randomly down the left side of the white cardstock, ensuring to mix the patterns, colours and strip sizes as I went, then sewed each individual strip using my sewing machine. I used a mix of both straight and zigzag stitch to add a little extra detail and texture to the layout but it also enabled me to fold the edges of each strip upwards for that finishing touch.

I chose a couple of cute photos of Leila, printed B&W so not to clash with the colourful background, and backed with a pink pattern paper to compliment the strips and make the photos pop.

Under the right side of the photo I added my very last floral cluster from the wreath pattern paper in this collection. I’ve cut up and used these clusters on quite a few of my layouts as they’re super sweet and perfect for layering. You can also see a peek of the pink muslin fibres I added in for a different element of ‘texture’

I added the title over the top of the floral cluster using a mix of elements and handwriting. The ‘Hello’ is from the Foam title stickers pack that can be found in the ‘Unforgettable’ collection and the white alpha stickers are an older product from the ‘Colour Me Happy’ collection that is no longer available. I sewed through the alpha stickers to keep them adhered to the layout in years to come, but also for a little added detail and texture for this corner of the layout.

In the top right of the layout I tucked in a little more of the pink muslin fibres, added a fussy cut butterfly, heart from the ephemera pack and ‘the good stuff’ sticker that can be found on the accessory stickers sheet of the Happiness Collection. The cute little glitter enamel dots are from the ‘Make a Wish’ collection and have to be my most favourite finishing touch to any layout.

Lastly a second mini cluster on the bottom of the layout, replicated using similar items to the top cluster for a cohesive look. I also added the usual splattering of gold ink to finish the layout off.
