Hello friends!

 

It’s Sophie on the blog today for Throwback Thursday and I am bringing back the stunning « Legendary » collection !

 

 

I thought this collection was absolutely perfect to document a recent visit to our new cottage in the woods !

 

I teared a few patterned papers from the collection and placed them in a horizontal line on a thick white cardstock.

 

I mounted my photo on tissue paper, adhesive foam and a few layers of patterned papers and placed it on the right side of the layout. I cut a piece of the Epic Tales paper to write down my journaling and added my title (I used the Die Cut Titles pack) just above it.

 

 

I cut a few leaves with metal dies from my stash and created two leaf clusters to decorate the page. I also added many die cuts in different shapes , labels and stickers from the Legendary Sticker sheet, as well as a few enamel dots to complete the page.

I love the color scheme of this page, exactly what I envisioned for my photo.

Match Time | Legendary | Kel Moore

Hi Cocoa Vanilla fans and welcome back to the blog.

It’s Kel here today to share a recent creation …for this page today, I decided to dig out an older collection I have in my stash…Legendary.

I had these photos of my youngest son at his first year of playing soccer and I thought Legendary would be perfect for this page.

Here is a look at my page…

I had this cut file in my stash of supplies for some time (can’t remember where from sorry!) and I thought it would be perfect for this page. I used a bunch of the papers from the 6×8 paper stack to back the letters in my title.

I also used these papers to back my three photos. I went with a loose grid design… using my title and journaling to fill in the bottom space.

You will see I have designed a visual triangle of embellishments around my photos….top right, over to the bottom right then back over to the bottom left of my photos… this encourages your eyes to move around the page and highlight your photos.

For my embellishing, I have used a mix of products.

Ephemera diecuts… pieces from the cut apart sheet.. and the accessory sticker sheet.

And I just love the painted look these clear stickers give…. mixed media without the mess. I also used some of the clear stars…I love stars on my boy pages.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my page today and I have inspired you in some way…pull out those older collections if you have them in your stash…dont ‘save’ them… get them into your albums!

Farewell Danni Visser

Hi everyone,

Today we say goodbye to another beloved member from our design team – Danni Visser. Danni has been an integral part of our team for a numbers of years now; ever since she first agreed to be a guest designer back in October 2019 and we convinced her stay on permanently. Today truly is a bittersweet goodbye though, because although we are sad to see Danni leave us, we are equally excited and proud of her as she begins her journey through medical school.

So today we thought we would look back at some of our favourite projects Danni has created for us, starting off with one of her guest designer projects from 2019 featuring our ‘Unforgettable’ collection and a beautiful wedding photo…

Danni loves using cut files and has created many projects for us using them, but one of our faves has to be this layout, featuring Danni’s darling daughter, muddy puddles, and our ‘Storyteller’ collection…

Another signature element of Danni’s work over the years has been her amazing hand stitching ability. She has showcased this numerous times, but no layout quite showed it off as spectacularly as this one using our ‘Sunkissed’ collection…

To finish things off, we couldn’t resist sharing a layout Danni created using one of our boy collections, ‘Legendary’. This page featured a nod to the Australian bush and some mixed media work – another element that Danni has often included in her projects over the years…

Danni – thank you for everything! It’s definitely not easy to say goodbye to you and your creations, but we are absolutely thrilled for your new opportunity and what the future holds for you. Lots of love and the best of luck – we can’t wait to be able to call you Doctor Danni!

Best Buddies | Legendary Collection | Laura Alberts

Hey y’all! Laura Alberts here again with a birthday layout using the lovely Legendary collection! I adore the masculine collections for my sons’ layouts and Legendary has a special place in my heart thanks to all of the stunning reds and blues! This layout focuses on using up scraps.

To create these journaling spots on either side of my photos, I used the inside of the woodgrain frame in the ephemera pack and cut it in half. Each side outlines an area that was perfect for a little bit of writing! Added to the fussy cut and punched stars I sprinkled all around the ephemera stars, it gives this layout a whimsical feel.

With word phrases from the accessories sticker sheet and enamel dots scattered around my clusters, this layout has a fun, light-hearted feel that fits my sons’ personalities perfectly.

Welcome to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog and Happy New Year! So glad to see you here.
It’s Jo and today I show you my first scrapbook layout for Cocoa Vanilla Studio of 2023!!

One of my absolutely favorite collections is “No Limits” and I think this collection is perfect for a Happy New Year scrapbook layout.

 

I start with a white piece of cardstock and cut out one big star shape with my “Cricut Maker”I used a standard star shape cutfile from Cricut. I choose a wood colored patterned paper and place it behind the white cardstock with the cut out large star. I stitch the edges of the star with light blue sewing thread.

 

I cut out some more stars from different pattern papers and I stitch the edges with light blue sewing thread. I place the stars in different places on the layout. I cut patterned paper to
size and place it behind the black and white photo. I place the photo on top of the stars and slide some more labels between the layers.
I grab a pair of scissors and fussy cut a few extra stars from the patterned paper. As you can see, I also used some patterned paper from Legendary. So great to see that both collections combine perfectly with each other. For the small circles I used a reinforcer punch. Along with the stars, I decorate the layout.
The title “Hey hello Awsome 2023” on the right side of the photo consists of several die-cuts, word strip and a silver alphabet from Thickers. I find it a fun and playful effect to combine a title with different alphabets, die-cuts or word strips. My layout is done and for a festive look I splashed some more with blue distress ink “faded jeans” and white gesso. This adds just a little extra dimension to my layout and I love it.

Tower Bridge selfie | Mix of masculine collections | Anna Komenda

Hello, hello! It’s Anna here again and today I have fun, travel themed inspiration for you. Good news – it has zero dogs involved :) This time I wanted to scrapbook a selfie photo of my family we took visiting London few years back (I can’t belive it was so long ago as it seems like yesterday). Photo was already printed and wandering around my desk for a while so I though it’s time to scrapbook it finally. As CVS doesn’t have any specific travel themed collection, I reached for the lines that have colors that would match the picture. It’s quite muted with a lot of earth tones so I focused on masculine lines. No pink this time!

I started with the newest one called “No limits” picking pattern papers for the background – wooden “Big bang” and grey “Universal“. With the second one I cut out the map background using digita die cutting machine. It reminded me of a busy city London is. Sfter all three basic layers were combined, it was time to add photo. It has white frame so I needed some contrastic colors under it to make the picture pop.

That’s why I added yellow and blue using A5 Paper stack. This is such a great product – it hold some extra patterns for even more fun with collection and you can use them for mini albums and cards too. You get 30 sheets in total – 2 of each designs and they are loose so there is no glue attaches to the one side, which is sometimes hard to remove. After the photo was glued down, I started building composition around it. It’s the moment I reached for some older CVS collections and my leftovers stash. You can find ephemera pieces and stickers from “Legendary”, “You rock” and “Boys rule”. This is the beauty of Cocoa Vanilla lines – you can easily mix and match them!

My title was also created with an old set of alpha stickers. they are not being added to the collections anymore but I still have my own stash and I love reaching out to it. Alpha stickers came in two different sizes – with bigger letters and some with smaller letters. I mixed two of them here. I also dug up my stash of wooden elements, that were a part of older collections. I loved them so much and I was saving them for the future (as many of us does with favorite items). It’s finally time to let them go. But worry not – I still have a little basket of them :) They will last me till the end of time.

This kind of layout is my favorite – where I can combine new and old, giving older stash a new life. If also helps me spread the collection even if I am running out of embellishemnts. Last step in making this page was adding some flair buttons (also from my dearly saved stash) and splashing everything with yellow and orange mists.

Boo To You | Legendary/Boys Rule Collections | Kylie Kingham.

Hi friends! It’s Kylie back with you again with a super fun layout to share. For my family here in Oz we don’t usually recognise Halloween when it swings around, however I have lots of cute photos from when my kids were in Primary School that fit a Halloween theme. Sometimes they had a Halloween disco or dress up and I love documenting these photos. Recently I fell down a rabbit hole (**another), with layered 3D cut files. I really do love trying new things and today I wanted to share a layout I created featuring a Halloween themed wreath which has been designed by Layered Craft on Etsy. I knew I wanted to use mostly an Orange, Black and a hint of Green palette for my page so decided to combine both the ‘Legendary’ and ‘Boys Rule’ collections…..and I love how it turned out!

So let’s chat about these layered cut files. Each layer of the design is different and builds upon the next to create a 3D layered result when completed. The pro’s- You get to create a really unique layout! The downside….(And this didn’t really bother me), You use a fair amount of your paper supply. That being said I included a layer of white cardstock to save my creative papers. Once each layer was cut out it was time for assembly. I have adhered each layer with thin foam adhesive squares. You don’t necessarily have to, but I really wanted a dimensional 3D effect for my page. This style would be perfect for framing! I had five layers for this wreath and I really love seeing each individual colour peeping through.

With my wreath together I needed to prepare the background page. I used some black cardstock as the very base and trimmed the grey ‘ALL STAR’ paper from the LEGENDARY collection down to 11.5″x 11.5″. This was adhered centred over the black cardstock so a nice even border was revealed. I used a black journal pen to draw a freehand border around the edges. Next using double sided tape, I added my wreath centred on the page.

My photo was printed to a 3″x 4″ size twice. A black cardstock photo mat which I trimmed to 3.25″x 4.25″, was added to both before I layered them together over my wreath. I added a few simple embellishments to support my photos as well as some phrase stickers. I felt as though the background was a little bare so using a star punch from my stash, I punched several from the same papers in my wreath and scattered them diagonally across the page. I also added in some of the ‘LEGENDARY’ enamel dots.

Of course I needed a main title and you all know I love them BIG! I used some sparkly gold alpha stickers again from my stash for a little glitter!

Cool Catch | Legendary collection | Sophie Delorme

Hello Cocoa Vanilla friends!

I used the Legendary collection for this page!

 

I wanted to document a little fishing trip that my son had a few weeks ago. I had the idea to use cute fish cut files from Just Nick Studio to help me with my theme.

 

I started with a thick white 8,5×11” cardstock and used many mixed media products to create beautiful shades of blue to mimic the sea. I backed the fish cut files with different patterned papers from the Legendary collection, mounted them on foam adhesive and placed them on my blue mixed media background.

 

 

I machine stitched around the edges of the 8,5×11 cardstock and backed it with a green cardstock before adhering it to the beautiful “Wild One” rainbow paper.

 

I added a few layers of papers and tissue paper behind my photo and placed it on the right side of the layout.

 

My title comes from the Legendary Die Cut Titles, mixed with some letters stamped with an alphabet stamp from my stash.

 

 

I decorated the page with a few embellishments from the Legendary Die Cut Ephemera pack, a flair button, plenty of white acrylic splatters and some sequins from my stash.

YOU ARE MY SUN MY MOON AND ALL OF MY STARS | JOSEFINE VD HOEVEN | LEGENDARY

Hey Paperlovers, Welcome to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog today! It’s Josefine here and show you my new scrapbook layout that I created with the beautiful and super cool Legendary collection. Really love the colors of this boys collection. Of course, I can’t wait to design with the beautiful No limits collection. I can definitely use the “No limits” collection in combination with the left overs from “Legendary” Yay!!

 

I start with a white piece or cardstock and cut a circle from the center. I grabbed two colors of distress oxide. The colors I used are, “faded jeans” and “spiced marmalade” On another piece of cardstock, I create a mixed media background using the Distress Oxide “spiced marmalade”. I cut several circles from the design paper and place them all on top of the mixed media background I created with the Distress Oxide. Once all the circles are in place I stitch a dark blue border with sewing thread.

I cut another circle from the dark blue patterned paper and placed it with 3D tape in the center of the yellow/orange mixed media background. Now it’s time to decorate my layout with die-cuts, stickers, stars and of course a title.

I choose a Saturn shape from the Cricut store and cut it out with my Cricut Maker. I cut the cutfile from the Legendary pattern paper and place it almost in the center of the layout. I place the two die-cuts in the shape of a star with vellum behind the cutfile. On top of that, I build a cluster of stars and the word “super” I chose two colors from the patterned paper, cut to size and placed these behind the black and white photo of my son. I put the photo with design paper on the right side of me layout and made another small cluster of word die-cuts on the left side of the photo.

I fussy cut several stars from the pattern paper and place them randomly on my layout. Then I choose different Alpha sets that match well with each other for the title. I make blue splatters around the title with the blue distress oxide “faded Jeans”. These ink splatters give a fun and playful effect.

Unique Kid or Legend | Mixed Boy Collections | Laura Alberts

Hey y’all! Laura Alberts back again with a fun boy layout! This month we were challenged to scraplift ourselves and I immediately knew which layout I wanted to lift! This super fun Sunkissed layout featuring my youngest daughter has such a fun vertical design that I definitely wanted to convert to a more masculine style! Using the You Rock collection mixed with a little bit of Legendary, I scrapped these fun photos of my oldest son and his Lego city. He adored Legos for ages and I love finding these gems in my albums!

Like the original layout, I started with strips of paper down the left and right side of this layout. The original was a 9×12, so I’d just used two fairly small strips, but to match the scale of a 12×12, I added a third strip on both sides. The stars are a mix of fussy cut stars from the Starshine patterned paper and punched scraps left over from previous layouts. Since this layout only had two photos, instead of three, I added a decorative cut apart piece in the middle, adding washi strip phrases and the last robot ephemera piece from the Totally Rad collection.

For my title, I used a mix of wood veneer pieces from the You Rock Collection and die-cut titles from Legendary. I’ve tied in these wood veneer pieces with two plus signs that I added to each of my small clusters on the page. These small clusters add a little bit of whimsy to the page, breaking up the heavy linear design with a bit of fun.

A fun detail on this page are the rows of tiny rectangles along each set of borders. These are actually the punched out leftover pieces from an ephemera piece in the You Rock collection that looked like a viewfinder reel! They made a great vertical embellishment on this page. The stars that border the left side of my photos vary in sizes and colors, mimicking the floral clusters along the original layout.

I hope you enjoyed this look at how I scraplifted myself, changing not only the color scheme and theme, but also the size! Such a fun challenge! To see how this layout came together, check out the process video below!
