It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new Christmas layout featuring the gorgeous Joyful collection!

I have documented another gorgeous photo of my niece from a Christmas photo shoot when she was younger, I just love this photo so much! The Joyful collection was perfect for this photo with the super cute animal icons, I was able to add the adorable reindeer, bird, squirrel and rabbit.

I chose the ‘B’ side of the Deck the Halls patterned paper for my background, I love the teal and stars on this paper! I trimmed it down and adhered it to a plain sheet of white cardstock and then added machine stitched border around the edges.  At the top of the page, I placed one of the blank rectangle stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet and layered some puffy stickers over the top. I wanted to make a large cluster in the centre of my page and decided to first choose a Cambridge doily to lay down first, I love the softness and texture that this brings to the layout. I then layered some of the 3′ x 4′ journal cards under the photo and adhered these down on top of the doily using craft foam to add dimension. At the top of the journal cards, I added my Joyful title from the gold puffy titles. These are sooo gorgeous! I love the different word choices and that you can mix it up if you want to! I placed one of the glitter gold stars and one of the banner puffy stickers!

 From the Very Merry patterned paper, I cut out the Magical Moments phrase and adhered it below the photo and I placed one of the word stickers from the Accessory Sticker Sheet above the photo.  On the right of the photo, I added some embellishments including the round journal spot from the Accessory Sticker Sheet, a stocking from the chipboard set, some candy canes in die-cuts and puffy stickers, the super cute bunny puffy sticker and one of the lovely epoxy wood buttons.

 On the left of the photo, I placed the gorgeous reindeer chipboard piece and layered both a star and a bird puffy sticker. I love to layer embellishments on top of other embellishments! I also tucked in behind the reindeer, another candy cane die-cut and placed one of the glitter gold fabric stars too.  Did you spot the pretty sprinkles of gold and white over the page? That was done using gold Heidi Swapp Color Shine and some white mist is by Dylusions. I just unscrewed the cap off the top and lightly shook the nozzle to add the sprinkles.

Under the photo, I tucked in one of the tags from the Accessory sticker sheet and tied a bow with some twine through the hole. I also placed more phrase and word stickers from the Accessory sticker sheet and also the cute squirrel sticker too. I also placed some of the small puffy stickers here as well. Such small details can really make a big impact on a page, although sometimes small embellishments are subtle, they really can make a difference to a page.

December | Joyful collection | Tarrah McLean

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new scrapbook layout featuring the gorgeous Joyful collection.

I know, I know its still November but who said we couldn’t document Christmas all year round right? I know some people would not agree lol! I don’t know about you, but Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year to document memories, this photo is of our big Christmas tree from last year. I love this photo as it reminds me of beautiful times spent with my family.

I started by choosing the ‘B’ side of the Feeling Festive patterned paper to use for my background, I trimmed this piece down and adhered it to a plain white sheet of white cardstock and machine stitched a border around the outside to add some texture. I then cut out a cut file from CUT to YOU also using plain white cardstock. The A5 paper stack was then used, choosing several of the papers from it to back each letter in the cut file. Once the cut file was all backed, I adhered it slightly to the left on the ‘B’ side of the Feeling Festive paper. I cut strips out of the Holly Days paper and the Very Merry paper and adhered these vertically to the left of the cut file. I like how this helps to ground the cut file. Usually I adhere my cut files using craft foam however this time I knew I wanted to use craft foam on lots of the elements on top of the cut file.

I adhered my photo on the right of the cut file using craft foam and layered some of the Journaling Cards underneath,  I then added some die-cut pieces from the Ephemera pack and some Accessory Stickers and Puffy Stickers here too. I like to add embellishments near my photo to help draw the eye to the photo. You can see in the image above the shadows that using the craft foam creates under the photo, I love how this looks! It also allows for lots of tucking of embellishments as well. Above my photo, I placed some of the word and phrase stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet, I love how these help with journaling and telling the story.

To balance out the heavy right side where my photo is placed, I decided to add the gorgeous die-cut Christmas Tree from the ephemera pack to the left hand side using craft foam, I added one of the gold puffy stars to the top of the tree and also layered more of the word and phrase stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet, on top of the tree. I added some more gifts under the tree using puffy shapes and die-cuts. In the centre, I placed the FaLaLaLa die-cut, a banner sticker and another phrase sticker. I also pulled out some of the chipboard and added some of the pretty gold stars and I also added the Santa Hat to the top of ‘D’ in the December cut file.

In the centre of the ‘D’ in the December cut file, I took one of the circle stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet and added one of the gorgeous wood epoxy buttons to the centre of the circle. Once all the bigger elements were added to my page and I was happy with all of the placement, I took a look at my layout to see if I was happy with it and if I thought it was finished. I can very easily overdo it sometimes and never know when to stop but I added just a few smaller embellishments like more gold chipboard stars and some Accessory stickers to finish. I also stamped the date stamp which is what I do on all of my layouts, its one of my signatures that I always like to do!

Baked With Love | Joyful Collection | Sophie Delorme

It’s Sophie here!! Wow! It’s been a long time!

 

I am so happy to be here today with a brand new layout to share with you!

 

I used the Joyful collection for this page, paired with two cut files that I bought on the Silhouette Studio store. The cake stand is from Paige Evans and the title is from Jenny Highsmith.

 

I hand draw an uneven scalloped border on white cardstock and cut it with scissors. I centered the cardstock on the Advent patterned paper and stitched some French knots on it.

 

 

I backed the cake stand with different patterned papers from the Joyful collection, and used velum paper for the glass bell.

 

I printed my photo in black and white as the cake that I backed didn’t match de colors of the collection at all! It’s a good way to use whatever photo you want for a page, and softens the overall look.

 

I fussy cut plenty of beautiful florals out of the ‘Tis The Season paper, added Wood Buttons, a few labels and beautiful gold stars to finish it up!

I love the result! This collection is one of my favorites from Cocoa Vanilla! It’s a Christmas collection, but as you can see here, you sure can use it for any other occasion!

December 2021 | Joyful Collection | Melissa Vining

Hi everyone, it’s Melissa here and I’m so happy to be back with you today with a Christmas themed layout.  I’m using last years gorgeous Joyful collection. The cut file is from Confessions of A Paper Addict.

I knew that I wanted to use a patterned paper for my background, and chose Very Merry because I love the gold sprinkles. I painted the cut file with a sparkly powder activated with water.  The powder is pink but has hidden colour in it, which is why there is a mix of pink tones.  I actually love that it is uneven.  I used a gold powder for the present.

I fussy cut several flowers from Tis’ The Season for embellishment.  I bended up the edges of the petals for extra dimension and I love how they look scattered throughout my page. I used a couple of Accessory Stickers to help tell my story.

I backed the cut file present with papers from the A5 Paper Stack.  They were perfect with their small repeating patterns.

I hope I’ve encouraged you to dig into an older Christmas collection to document your memories.

Ho,Ho,Ho, Very Merry magic moments to you all | Joyful collection | Josefine van der Hoeven

Hey Paperlovers,

Are you already feeling the Christmas spirit? I absolutely am, I love all those pretty lights on the tree and streets, house decorations and trying out delicious recipes. How lovely for visiting the Cocoa Vanilla Blog today.

 

My challenge was a scrap-lifting of the amazing talented scrapbook designer Michelle Stokes.
I totally love her work! Curious?! please visit her IG (shelz626) for wonderful scrapbook inspiration.
I choose the beautiful and lovely “Always Sweet” layout from Michelle.

I really wanted to work with the beautiful Christmas collection “Joyful” This is truly the cutest scrapbook Christmas collection I know of.

 

I took a 12×12 white cardstock paper and choose four of my fave pocket page card designs. I cut four strips of patterned paper and place them along both sides of the layout. I choose white sewing thread and used my sewing machine to stitch both sides of the patterned paper strips.

 

I cut frames from the pocketpage cards and place the black and white photos behind them. I add white sewing thread to the edges of the frames. Behind the middle picture I place a tag with a pink bow made of embroidery thread. I place the four pocketpage cards playfully on my layout just as Michelle did on her layout.

 

I fussy cut several flowers from the patterned paper. I make both left and right of the layout a cluster of flowers, labels, stickers and die-cuts. In the center of the layout I make a banner of stickers. Then I make the title of the layout “Ho,Ho,Ho, Very Merry magic moments to you all” I use several elements for my title, stickers, gold title words, die-cut banner and a mini alphabet from the collection “These Days” Finally, I make splatters with gold acrylic paint for a magical touch.

It’s Sophie on the blog today with a new layout to share!

I used the beautiful Christmas collection “Joyful” for my page.

I wanted to use this cute cut file from Nic Squirrell that I bought on the Silhouette Studio store a while ago. I cut it on white cardstock and backed it with several patterned papers from the collection.

Before adhering it to my background cardstock, I created a mixed media background with pinks and gold from different inks from my stash. I also added white splatters. I let everything dry completely and added my cut file and black and white photo, both mounted on adhesive foam, on top of it.

I grounded everything with two pieces of teared patterned papers that I stitched down with gold thread.

I printed my title with alphabet stamps from my stash, and decorated around my photo and food mixer cut file with fussy cut stars and floral die cuts, all from the same collection.

Hello Cocoa Vanilla studio fans! Danni here with a fun take on one of my previous Cocoa Vanilla layouts – that’s right, I am scraplifting myself today! The layout I chose to scraplift is one of my favourites and was quite a fave among the Cocoa Vanilla Studio community as well. I made that layout using the incredible These Days collection which is still one of my absolute favourite collections to date. Here is the layout I scraplifted:

I stuck pretty close to the original layout, using a white background and textured paper hearts using patterned paper. I used the Joyful collection because the colours matched my photos beautifully, and I wanted to use the gorgeous stripes in the Holly Days 12×12 patterned paper. I started by cutting that paper into strips and distressing the edges. Next I cut two large heart shapes from plain cardstock by folding it in half and drawing a half-heart shape on one side, then cutting it out. You could also use an electronic or manual die-cutting machine if you wanted. Once I had my hearts, I layered my paper strips onto them working from the bottom up, adhering them as I went.

Once I had both hearts covered in strips and allowed them to dry, I flipped them over and used the back side of the shape to trim off the excess paper. I used my fingers to fold and roll the edges of the paper strips a bit more, as they had flattened a little in the glusing process and I wanted lots of texture! I jazzed up my background a little by adding lots of ink splatters in different shades of pink and green, plus some metallic gold (I may have gone slightly overboard on the splatters!).

Once the ink was dry I adhered my hearts down and added my photos on top. I added some dimensional foam to the back of my photos, particularly where they hung over the edges of the hearts, because the hearts are quite dimensional with all those paper layers.

Now I could decorate, the best part. I took ‘Tis the Season 12×12 patterned paper and fussy cut a bunch of the gorgeous florals. I made sure to get some large bunches as well as some smaller flowers and leaves, plus some teeny tiny blossoms and buds to sprinkle. I created three clusters of florals – one below my photos, one on the opposite side of the layout and one between the two heart layers. I tucked all the tiny leaves and sprigs between the blossoms.

I stamped the date onto a label from the accessory stickers in charcoal ink and layered it under my photo slightly. I also added a pretty gold-foiled tab sticker beside it for good measure. You can never have too much gold! From the same stickers I selected three tiny word phrases that were not Christmas-specific (even though Joyful is a holiday collection, this photo was taken in June and it works perfectly for non-holiday layouts). I sprinkled these among my flroal clusters and below my photos.

Finally I used the puffy gold title stickers to add a few tiny gold stars to each of my embellishment clusters, and the title ‘Home’ on top of the smaller heart. Joyful Moments | Joyful Collection | Michelle Stokes

Hello Hello! It’s Michelle here today with a new layout share for part of out current ‘Scrap lift’ theme. All of the CVS Design Team have been tasked with recreating something we’ve made and shared in a past blog post, and for mine I’ve taken a little walk down memory lane to recreate a layout from September 2020.

The ‘Joyful Moment’ I’ve chosen to document of Leila is her awesome reaction to receiving a present at Christmas just gone. It’s something she had been asking for almost all of last year and was the last present she opened from us on Christmas Day. The Joyful collection has been the best Christmas themed collection for scrapping memories of late, and I’m absolutely loving creating with it each time I do.

Here’s a look at the layout I was inspired to recreate…

The original layout has a mixed media pattern paper background, cut file from CUT to YOU, title over the right side of the hanging pieces of cut file and multiple clusters of sweet sweet Cocoa Vanilla goodness.

For the new layout I chose a similar design in the CUT to YOU store, this one has a bunch of stars hanging from strings rather than the hearts. I backed each star piece with pattern papers from both the A5 paper stack and a couple of the 12×12 papers.

I used a background that I made a few weeks back that matched in with the colours really well. This was made using inks, water and the plastic packaging technique. I added the cutfile directly over the top using foam tape for slight dimension, then gave the entire layout a border using the pretty pink ‘Feeling Festive’ paper. The red pattern paper the each photo is adhered to can be found in the A5 paper stack.

I started my clusters with a bunch of fussy cut florals from both the 12×12 and A5 versions of the ‘Tis the Season‘ paper, layering in with some offcuts of the cut file I used on a layout I created a couple weeks back, some accessory word stickers and gold puffy stars from the ‘glitter puffy stars‘ pack and gold puffy sticker title pack.

In the top right hand side, to the left of the photo, I added another cluster using similar elements to the first. All clusters use a mix of adhesive to form different layers. This helps give the layout dimension rather than keeping it flat

I added the title to the bottom right group of stars on the cut file. I used the awesome Gold Puffy titles, which are part of the Joyful Collection Bundle available in the CVS Store. The banner below is from the ephemera pack.

You can also see I’ve added stitching around the edges of the layout which also helped to secure the cardstock stars from the cut file remnants

Top left of the layout was the last piece of the layout to some together. Again using elements similar to those in the other 2 clusters plus a chipboard piece.

I really enjoyed bringing this layout together, even the many fussy cut pieces I needed to make those clusters pop. I hope you’ve enjoyed what I created, and look forward to see what the rest of the team creates over the next week or so.

My Joy | Joyful Collection | Rachel Lowe

Hello CVS friends! I set myself the challenge of using Joyful for a non Christmas layout. And here is what I created a baby themed layout.

I firstly used a cut file to create my background of pop up flowers (Silhouette Design store). I cut my white card stock down to 11x 11 inches and then backed the pop up flowers and created a border by using the Feeling Festive paper.

Once I had my background created I set about choosing embellishments from the collection that could be used for my baby theme. I also fussy cut flowers from the Tis the Season paper

My photo is 6×4 inches portrait and I used papers from the  6×8 inch paper pad which keeps those 12×12 inch papers for larger projects. I chose very typical baby colours of a gingham pink and baby green. My photo was added with foam tape to add height. I created a flower cluster embellishment to the left of my photo, adding some die cut leaves finishing off with the adorable bunny die cut.

 

I used one of the die cut frames to create another embellishment cluster on the opposite side. I fussy cut the two deers from one of the Pocket Cards and added with foam tape on top of the due cut frame. I also added a heart wood epoxy button

I created my title My Joy using the Puffy Gold Title Stickers and adding a subtitle using one of the phrase sentiments from the Die Cut Ephemera pack. I added a glitter heart and die cut bird to finish off.

I added some finishing touches to my layout, tucking another fussy cut flowers under the deer embellishment cluster and some stars from the Chipboard Stickers 

And there you have it a non Christmas layout using a Christmas collection!

All I Want For Christmas | Joyful Collection | Danni Visser

Hi Cocoa Vanilla Studio friends! Danni here with a fun mixed media layout featuring the absolutely beautiful Joyful collection, because I still can’t get enough of it!  I have a couple of sweet photos of my little girl to document, so I decided to keep everything bright and add lots of texture using machine stitching.

I started the layout with a white cardstock base and added a border with the soft pink gingham side of Advent 12×12 patterned paper. I added a line of machine stitching around the edge to add extra security and added detail. This gave me an idea to add a quilt-inspired design to the page – I’ll explain more about that later.

I have been eyeing off the gorgeous double sided 3×4 cards for a while, and this is one of my favourite ways to use a bunch of them on a layout. I overlapped my two 3×4 photos slightly, then chose four of the cards to build a large cluster to go in the centre of the page. I distressed all the edges of the cards then layered them around and behind my photos at different heights and widths to create variety. I adhered all these together then set them aside while I worked on my background.

I wanted to add some mixed media to the plain white background, so I took some distress oxide ink pads and diluted the colour using water and some white acrylic ink. White acrylic ink is great because it mutes bright colours while also making inks more opaque. My colours ended up still being brighter than I wanted, but I’m totally ok with that. I used the packaging technique to add messy splotches of the ink to the white cardstock.

Once the paper was completely dry, I went in with my sewing machine and added lots of cross hatching lines of stitching in a quilted-style pattern. I made sure to add the stitching where it would be visible around my central cluster. Because my photo and card cluster was already adhered together, I could just go ahead and glue it down to the centre of the page in one piece.  I ended loving the quilted stitching effect peeking out from behind everything!

I finished off the ‘All I want for Christmas’ card with some small phrase stickers from the accessory stickers – I just love that shiny gold typeface font. I also took a couple of flag accessory stickers and layered them below the lower 3×4 card, plus a tab accessory sticker at the top. I embellished lightly with some chipboard sticker holly leaves either side of my photo, and some shiny chipboard sticker stars cascading down my layout.

Finally I added some puffy sticker holly leaves layered with the chipboard sticker ones, then some tiny puffy sticker stars. I love how this one turned out, I hope you did too.
