Hey everyone and welcome back for another share from me combining the new ‘Happy Days’ collection mixed with the older ‘Sunkissed’ collection. These two lines combine beautifully, so if you have them both, have a go and mxing them together! Here is my page…

My jumping off point was the rainbow paper from Happy Days called ‘Sunshine Lollipops’. I cut two 2 inch strips and adhered them down to each side of my page. To add some interest I also tore some of the ‘Feel Good‘ paper and had it popping out from underneath.

I have 2 photos on my page which I double matted using papers from the A5 paper stack from the Sunkissed collection.

Next, I worked on my title. I used a cutfile from Peartree Cutfiles. Instead of backing it with patterned papers I decided to use my distress oxides in matching colours to create an ombre effect.. I love how this turned out. Backing the cutfile onto some black cardstock really makes the title pop off the page. I also added some blue oxide behind my title.

Once I decided where I wanted my photos to go, the white cardstock needed some colour so I used a stencil to add some yellow suns to my page.

All of my embellishments come from the Sunkissed collection.

Next to the left photo I added a palm tree and flip flops from the ephemera pack and a starfish puffy sticker. On the bottom right there is a pineapple and flower puffy sticker.

Above my photos I have used a cloud, rainbow and word tab from the ephemera pack and a sticker from the Accessory Sticker Sheet.

To finish my page, I have added some heart puffy stickers and some of the word phrases from the Accessory Sticker Sheet.

Days Spent with You | Happy Days collection | Mandy Melville

Hello everyone!

Mandy here today to share a new layout showcasing the fabulous new Happy Days collection. This week our design team are sharing projects that feature the Puffy Alpha Stickers. My favourite way to use these sweet little alphas is to combine them with a larger alpha to create a longer title. This is exactly what I did on this page that documents a selfie of my hubby and I.

I started this layout off by trimming down a sheet of white cardstock and matting it on the gorgeous magenta Flutterby paper. I added a doodled border around the white cardstock to add some further definition and interest. Next I cut two triangles, one larger than the other, out of the beautiful yellow Feel Good paper, and adhered these on each side of the page. I matted my photo with a paper from the A5 Paper Stack and adhered that over the larger triangle on the left hand side of the page.

I love all of the different colour combinations that can be used from this one collection, and for this layout I decided to focus on the teal, magenta and yellow. I chose flowers in these three colours from the Floral Ephemera pack to create my floral clusters. To create interest and dimension I love to layer some flowers under the photo and others on top. I added one cluster to the top right hand corner of the photo, and another to the bottom left.

I created a third cluster in the bottom right hand corner of the page, over lapping the smaller yellow triangle. Again I created dimension within the cluster by adhering some elements with foam tape.

As I said, I love to combine the Mini Puffy Alpha Stickers with words from the Chipboard Titles. By using the mini puffy alphas, it enables me to create a longer title that also doubles as my journalling. These sweet little alphas are so fun and colourful and add so much interest to the page!

I finished the layout off with some cute banners in the top right hand corner of the page, a couple of little phrase stickers from the Accessory Sticker Sheet, and of course a sprinkling of hearts from the Die Cut Ephemera and the Puffy Sticker Pack.

Cards for teachers | Happy days Collection | Anna Komenda

Hello everyone. It’s Anna here with another project made with new “Happy days” collection. June is a busy period in our family’s life as it’s the last month of school year. Final exams are already over and now it’s time for a lot of good bye’s as my older daughter is finishing the elementary school and is moving to the highschool and my younger daughter is finishing the first step of elementary school and will be changing teachers. I will need a big bunch of cards to thank all of the teachers for taking such a great care of my kids. That’s why I decided to combine my DT duties and my mom duties and make a THANK YOU cards for teachers.

This week we are also focusing on PUFFY ALPHAS so I decided to show you how easily you can customize your cards with them! All four cards I made are the same size, but each looks a little bit different. I used variety of pattern papers from A5 PAPER STACK for my backgrounds. This way I didn’t have to cut into whole 12*12 sheets to only get a small piece.

Two of my cards have little shakers made with frames from EPHEMERA PACK. This is the fastest way to make a shaker! Just add a piece of acetate behind the frame, then pieces of foam adhesive to create a shaker, fill it with sequins and glue to the background.

Those two cards are more personal, with the names of teachers added. It was so easy to do with those tiny PUFFY ALPHA STICKERS! I decorated the frames with some flowers from FLORAL EPHEMERA PACK and some cut out from LUSH BLOOMS 12*12 PAPER. I also added colorful butterflies fussy cut from FLUTTERBY 12*12 PAPER. They create such a lovely, colorful mix. As you can see I didn’t add any school related items to my cards. Who said teacher’s appreciation cards need to have them? Mine are simply cheerful and colorful.

This card utilise another elements from EPHEMERA PACK – little oval frame, that became a focal point of my composition. I added a title on top of it, this time it’s simple THANK YOU, and surrounded it with some florals and butteflies. My final step was to add few cute PUFFY HEARTS.

Last card features fruits instead of flowers. Once again I reached for my scissors and fussy cut some lemons, peaches and oranges from one of the A5 PAPER STACK patterns. I arranged them in a frame around the background and added title in the middle. Another cute card was ready in just few minutes!

Four cards are done. I just need like ten more. But it’s good to have a good start. That is all for today. I hope you like my ideas for colorful and easy to make cards showcasing all the colors of beautiful “Happy days” collection!

Smile, Crazy, Funny | Happy Days collection | Guest designer – Niki Rowland

We are thrilled to be able to welcome a special guest designer today – the very talented Niki Rowland! Niki will be joining us with some projects featuring our ‘Happy Days’ collection and we know you are going to LOVE them!

 

 

I’m Niki, I live in the UK with my creatively challenged husband and my three children. I’m a pretty paper addict who makes the occasional cupcake and likes coffee and shortbread biscuits. I love turning bright colours and floral ephemera, into scrapbook layouts, with a few mini albums along the way too. I currently create for Simple Stories, and GoGo Getaway which is my own scrapbooking retreat business. That keeps me pretty busy but because I wouldn’t want to get bored, I also am a governor at my children’s school and somehow, I also ended up leading the PTA as well…so now I can add ‘fundraising’ to my list of skills too!  Creating feeds my soul and I try to do something creative every day. I hope you enjoy my creations x  

Hi everyone! This is Niki Rowland (@nikiclairecreates) and I’m delighted to be guest designing for Cocoa Vanilla Studio today!

I will be sharing four projects during June and July, and today I have my first layout and process video to share with you, using the Happy Days collection. I cannot tell you how much I love this collection, it is so bright, happy and fun! I absolutely fell in love with the colourful stripes on the Sunshine Lollipops paper and decided to focus on that for this layout.

I decided to cut the stripes into their colour groups and make rosettes in a variety of colours. I really enjoy making rosettes and love how they look and really went for it on this layout! I cut out two wide pieces (four stripes wide), several smaller stripes (two stripes wide) and one teeny stripe (one stripe wide). I scored them every quarter-inch and concertina folded them. To make the rosettes themselves I glue the two ends together to make a cylinder, then press the cylinders down in the middle and glue a punched paper circle on top to hold them in place. I did this for all the smaller rosettes, but for the two wide ones the strips needed to be longer to make full circles, so instead I just made semi-circles. These were perfect for the edges of my layout!

I then arranged the rosettes across a white cardstock background, but felt they needed something more, so I added some ink in coordinating colours under each rosette. I also added splatters in the same colours. This creates a ‘glow’ behind each rosette and make them pop off the page even more! I then glued the rosettes in place onto the background, using hot glue.

I cut out the subjects of my photos and added them to each of the large rosettes. I also fussy cut several words from the Definitive paper and added these to all the smaller rosettes – I love these words so much, the font is awesome and the words are perfect for my photos!

I then added Floral Ephemera colour-on-colour, tucked in around the photos and rosettes. I raised some on foam pads for added dimension. I also added a few bits from the Die Cut Ephemera pack including two very cute pinwheels, several hearts and a couple of phrase banners.

I handwrote my journaling in black ink and underlined it to make it stand out more. I loved the look of the black against the colourful rosettes so decided to add splatters of black paint…a bit of a risky move but I LOVE how it turned out! I finished off by adding a few of the mini heart Puffy Stickers in the coordinating coloured areas.

Fun Happy Days Together | Happy Days collection | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends!

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new scrapbook layout with you featuring the GORGEOUS Happy Days collection!

For this layout, I am documenting a recent photo of myself and my 2 sons. It is not very often that we get a photo together so when we were together recently, I took the opportunity to snap a photo! I did print the photo in colour however as we are all mostly wearing black it goes with the Happy Days collection perfectly!

I started with a plain white cardstock background, as I often do and trimmed it down to 11′ x 11′ inches, adhering it to the ‘B’ side of the Flutterby paper. I then machine stitched a border around the outside of the layout to add some texture. Next I traced a dinner plate onto some cheap cardstock and free hand cut around the circle. I did not bother too much with how the circle was cut out as I knew that I would be covering it with lots of different patterned papers.

I took out the A5 paper stack and chose all of the different papers to include on the circle. I cut them into strips of different sizes and layered them over and under each other to create a shadows and dimensions on the circle. I adhered them all horizontally but changed the angles on many to create the eye catching look to the circle. I used craft foam and regular adhesive to create different heights and looks to the circle. Once I had completed the circle I added craft foam underneath the circle and adhered it to the centre of the white cardstock background. I love creating lots of dimension on my layouts!

I adhered my photo to the right hand side of the circle and also adhered the black and white doodled frame from the Ephemera pack to the outside of my photo. I love how the black in the frame helps to draw your eye to the photo amongst the busyness of the patterned papers. Next I decided to further enhance the photo by adding some of the gorgeous florals from the Floral Ephemera Pack. I added these tucked in and around the photo, using both foam tapes and regular tapes to adhere them. I also added one of the super cute Puffy Hearts to the bottom right corner and placed a tab sticker from the Accessory Sticker Sheet to the right side of the photo also.  On the left hand side of the photo, I adhered the Hello banner flag from the Ephemera pack.

Whenever I create a circular design, I like to be able to add embellishments and my title around the outside so I did this again using the Chipboard Alphabet Stickers to add my title. I spaced out the words so that you have to read around the circle which helps to draw the eye around the layout. In between the spaces I added Die-cuts, Puffy Hearts, Puffy Stickers, more Florals, and Accessory Stickers. On the actual circle, in between the paper layers, I placed some of the phrase stickers from the Accessory Sticker Sheet, these help to tell the story about the photo I am documenting on my layout, more Puffy Stickers and some Die-cuts here also.

I absolutely LOVE how my layout turned out and hope you like it too?! I hope you can find some inspiration from my layout and create a similar page to mine using your Happy Days collection!

Happy Days | Happy Days collection | Mandy Melville

Hello everyone!

Mandy here today to share a new layout using the beautiful new Happy Days collection! I absolutely love all of the gorgeous bright colours in this collection and for this layout I wanted to create a fun and happy layout featuring all of the colours! What better paper to use for this than the Rainbow Bright paper! I knew that this would be perfect for documenting a photo of my youngest daughter with her besties on her 5th birthday.

The Rainbow Bright paper made such a gorgeous background for this photo and really brought the layout to life! Once I had decided on this paper, I then matted my photo with one of the papers from the A5 Paper Stack. I adhered it to the page using craft foam in order to give it some nice dimension and to help it stand out against all of the bright colours in the background.

   For my embellishing I decided to keep it mostly tone-on-tone. So on the pink section of the rainbow I added pink embellishments, on the yellow I added yellow embellishments, and so on. I started with a fun little cluster on the bottom right hand corner of the photo. As this was on the blue and purple section, those were the colours that I chose for this cluster. I included some florals from the Floral Ephemera pack, as well as some that I fussy cut out of the Lush Blooms paper. I also added a couple of Die Cuts to the cluster.

Moving over to the left hand side of photo, I added another embellishment cluster using similar items that I used in the first. I tucked some of the flowers under the edge of the photo and some on top to give the cluster some dimension. How gorgeous are the Puffy Hearts?! I couldn’t resist adding one to each of my floral clusters!

I added a third cluster above the photo, creating a visual triangle to draw the viewer’s eye around the page. To keep the clusters looking balanced I again included similar items to the first two. You can also see that I fussy cut a few butterflies out of the Flutterby paper and I scattered these around the page, again keeping them tone-on-tone.

For my title I decided on using the ‘Happy Days’ words from the Die Cut Ephemera pack. I positioned the words so that they curved around the arc of the rainbow. It was the perfect title for this happy photo!

I finished the page off with some typed journalling strips and a few little hearts from the Chipboard Titles pack.

Tutti frutti | Happy days Layout | Anna Komenda

Hello everyone! It’s Anna here with my second page in May. As you can suspect, I am ears deep into brand new “Happy days” collection. It’s so colorful and fun and ideas keep flooding my head. This time I want to share with you layout inspired by all the fruits from “Juicy fruit” paper. I love this pattern so much. We do not have exotic fruits in Poland growing on trees but I remembered about few older photos of Maja eating fruits straigh from the bushes in my mom’s garden. I decided to scrapbooking this memory with all the fruits I could find within “Happy days” collection making a TUTTI FRUTTI page!

To make page even more “fruity” I started my creative process by adding some pineapples into the white background using the only fruity stencil I own. I went crazy with all the fruits on this layout. I used yellow and green Distress Oxide inks and green and yellow mist to add some splatters.

Each of my four photos is backed with a different pattern paper from A5 Paper Stack. It’s a very colorful page so I went with yellow, pink, blue and navy. I also took some time to fussy cut some fruits from “Juicy fruit” paper.

With the photos glued down I could add my lemons, oranges and peaches around them. Some of them went under the photos and some of them on top creating multiply layers. I also found two strawberries in Ephemera Pack and added them too!

This page didn’t need much of embellishing, so I only added few flags, tickets and camera from the Ephemera Pack. It may seem a little bit different as I cut off the white outline to make them blend better into the composition. My title TUTTI FRUTTI is made with pattern papers and some alpha dies. This way I could be sure I will not run out of T letters as they appear in a large quantity in those two words. I tried to add some white inline into each letter but my white pen wasn’t cooperating well.

I finish the composition by adding few tiny, puffy hearts here and there. They are so, so cute!

Happy Days with You | Happy Days collection | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends!

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new layout featuring the gorgeous, new Happy Days collection!

For this week’s project, I was given the fun task of including the Sunshine and Lollipops paper on my project. There are a total of 3 designers including this paper in their projects this week, so be sure to check out their gorgeous work too!

I have had this lovely photo of my niece printed for ages, don’t you think it goes perfectly with the Sunshine and Lollipops paper?!

I love it when my photos go with my craft supplies!

I chose a plain white cardstock background (as I mostly do) so that those gorgeous colours in the collection can really pop!

I then decided to cut up the Sunshine and Lollipops paper into strips, you can see I cut them so there was a lighter and darker version of each colour together.

I then pulled out my scoreboard and bone scoring tool and scored at every inch. Once this was done, I then just folded the creases in a concertina fashion to create the zig zag/chevron effect on the paper strips. I had to think about how I was going to get the strips to adhere to the plain white cardstock background. I ended up choosing double sided tape, running a piece down the centres of each one and adhering them on the cardstock. I did pull some of the folds out so that some were longer and shorter than others, I love how this turned out.

I adhered my photo at the bottom of the layout, overlapping onto the yellow and green paper strips. I added the ‘Good Times’ die-cut tab from the ephemera pack to the right side of the photo and also adhered my title above the photo. I chose the gorgeous Happy Days cardstock titles also from the ephemera pack for my title and also added a few phrase stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet to add to the title.

To embellish my layout I chose a tone on tone look. What this means is that you place same or similar colour elements against each other. For instance on the yellow paper strip, I have placed a yellow puffy heart and a yellow flower top and bottom of the paper strip.  I repeated the same tone on tone look for each of the paper strips, choosing lots of fun embellishments from the ephemera pack, the puffy hearts pack, the puffy shape stickers and accessory stickers.

I love how the folded paper strips create lots of dimension and shadows on my layout!  Some other ways you might recreate this layout is by adhering the paper strips horizontally instead of vertically. Or you could even try weaving them for a really effective look as well! The possibilities are endless! The Sunshine and Lollipops paper would have to be one of my favourite papers in the Happy Days collection! What is your favourite? Lastly I added the heart paper strip to the very bottom of the layout and I stamped the date stamp of when the photo was taken.

So Sweet | Happy Days collection | Sophie Delorme

Hello friends!

It’s Sophie on the blog today with a new layout to share! I used the lovely new collection Happy Days again!

 

I created a mixed media background with inks and white acrylic paint. Then I fussy cut beautiful golden frames from the Specialty Gold Foil Paper and filled in the frames with several patterned papers from the A5 paper pack. I placed the frames around my black and white photo, and mounted them on foam adhesive.

 

I used the Alpha chipboards for my title and added watercolor paint to each letter.

 

Finally, I decorated the page with beautiful florals and die cuts from the Floral and Ephemera packs.

Hello Sunshine | Happy Days collection | Mandy Melville

Hello everyone!

Mandy here today to share a new layout featuring the gorgeous new Happy Days collection. For my project today, my task was to create a layout using a grid design. I love that there are so many ways that you can incorporate a grid into your layouts and it’s a design that I often fall back on when I’m feeling uninspired. Grid designs are all about using squares and/or rectangles, and the great thing is that you can include as few or as many photos as you want into your design. Here’s the page that I created, documenting a recent photo of my girls and I when we visited a sunflower farm.

My inspiration for the colour palette for this layout came from the Juicy Fruit paper. I love the yellows and oranges of the fruits, combined with the aqua/teal, and I decided to focus on those colours for this page as they complemented my photo perfectly. I started by cutting 2 inch squares out of papers from the A5 Paper Stack. The A5 papers are perfect for this sort of project as the patterns are smaller and it saves you from cutting into your larger 12 inch papers. Once I’d cut my squares out, I arranged them down the right hand side of a sheet of white cardstcock.

I also printed my photo as a square and positioned it amongst the smaller squares on the page. I pieced it all together a little like a puzzle until I was happy with the placement of everything. The photo was adhered with craft foam in order to give it some extra dimension on the page.

The fun part about creating a grid design layout is embellishing each of the sections in the grid. I added various die cuts and stickers to each of the squares in the grid, using foam tape to pop some up off the page. I tried to make sure that it looked well balanced by making sure that I didn’t have too much of one colour in any particular area.

For my title I used the lovely Chipboard Titles. I decided on using the ‘Hello Sunshine’ phrase as it was the perfect title for this sunshiney photo! I finished the layout off with some typed journaling strips, a doodled border, and a sprinkling of the sweet Puffy Heart Stickers.
