Hello everyone! I thought I would join in the May challenge fun by creating a layout using the Floral Frenzy theme. I have used Happy Days collection which I love so much.
I don’t do ‘busy’ layouts generally but I wanted my flowers to be the focus and went all in! I chose three papers to layer with the larger floral on the outer so I could layer my florals on it. I used Little Blossom, Lush Blooms and Flutterby papers.
I then took my floral ephemera and started layering under and over the Lush Blooms paper strip. I used foam tape of some of the florals to create dimension. I added enamel dots from my stash to some of the centres. Lastly I added some leaves from the floral ephemera
I used the reverse of the Flutterbuy to mat my 6×4 inch photo, I went with a black and white photo my daughter as there is so many colours and patterns in this layout, I didn’t want my photo to get ‘lost’.
I created three embellishment clusters around my photo using the die cut ephemera, adding the super cute cloud (which I added heart puffy stickers) , the bike and a phrase sentiment added over it with foam tape and another floral bunch, finished off with a butterfly and phrase sentiment from the Accessory Stickers.
Lastly I created my title using the chipboard titles and a super cute strawberry die cut to tie it all together.
And there you have it, one super girly layout! I look forward to seeing what you create with the floral frenzy challenge.
It’s Tarrah back with you for the last time this year sharing my favourite layout created in 2023!
Like some of the other design team members, my favourite layout of this year was created using the gorgeous Happy Days collection! Don’t you think there is something about the rainbow colours in the Happy Days collection that really catches the eye!? I sure do!
So besides the gorgeous colours in the Happy Days collection and placing vertical strips in rainbow order, I wanted to make the strips a little different so I decided to score lines in the strips and then fold them in a concertina fashion to create a zig-zag effect. I love how effective this looks against the white cardstock!
Another of my favourite things to do is to embellish my layouts in a tone on tone fashion. I chose co-ordinating embellishments for each colour and added them on top of the strips of paper and also tucked into the top and bottom of the strips as well. I used lots of various embellishments like puffy shapes, ephemera, puffy fabric hearts and accessory stickers.
I placed my title in the middle along with the gorgeous photo of my niece! Another thing that I love is that photo of my niece! Her outfit was perfect for this collection! I love how the rainbow colours in the collection bring out the colours in her jacket.
Have you got the gorgeous Happy Days collection? If you have, I hope you are inspired to use it up and create some cute projects with it?!
Thanks so much for stopping by the Cocoa Vanilla blog! I hope you have enjoyed the inspiration from myself and my fellow design team members throughout the year? Looking forward to sharing more Cocoa Vanilla projects with you again in the new year!
Merry Christmas and a safe and happy new year to you all!
It’s been a while since I have created with Happy Days collection and as I revisited the collection I knew I had to create a layout inspired by the strawberry paper Lush Blooms ,strawberry side!
This fabulous Cutie Pie cut file is from the Silhouette Design store. I didn’t want a stark white background so used the mixed media effect paper Juicy Fruit. To add another layer I cut some hearts and added randomly my page using Definitive paper, I think the dark blue makes a wonderful contrast against the more subtle colours of the layout.
I added my title letters with foam tape so I would be able to tuck elements under and over, it also creates dimension which when using a larger word title is important so your layout does not appear ‘flat’. I added a floral cluster which I tucked under the ‘C’ letter using the floral die cut ephemera. I added die cut ephemera strawberries over the letters.
To the opposite side I created another floral cluster, I added centres to the flowers using the round pieces of the puffy stickers. I added a die cut cloud to the top of my page, adding with foam tape so I could tuck a turquoise puffy heart behind it.
I chose a 3.5×3.5 inch photo which I matted on a paper from the A5 paper pad. I added this with foam tape, and finished of with a tab from the accessory sticker sheet which I added two puffy stickers and a phrase sentiment banner from the die cut pack.
I just love the dark pink/red strawberries and butterfly added on top of the title cut file, it just makes it ‘pop’. I added some finishing touches such as more puffy hearts, a word sentiment and layering the ‘I’ with paper cut hearts.
This layout definitely has a summer feel and this colour combo is a big yes for me. Also perfect colours to make a black and white photo stand out!
As always, thank you for stopping by and see you again in December, just over a month to Christmas!!!!
I love this photo, its not a visually stunning photo, no amazing scenery or backdrop but it is me with all my children after having a great day today. I have used the Happy Days collection!
I decided to go with a white background as I knew I was going to used Flutterby paper which is a dark contrast. I cut a seven inch circle in the Flutterby paper. I then cut three hearts in three different sizes and lastly a double bow.
I then used the butterfly side of Flutterby and Little Blossom paper to create the top and bottom paper angled design.
I created an embellishment cluster in the bottom paper pieces using die cuts from the ephemera pack. As you can see I tucked them in and under.
I machine stitched the hearts down the middle to create a 3D heart. I next added my photo which I double matted and used the chipboard title stickers to create my title. I followed the flow of the circle paper and left enough space in between to add chipboard hearts.
I added small floral cluster using the floral die cuts and finished this area off with a phrase sentiment from the accessory sticker sheet.
Lastly I added my paper bow (I used a cut file from the Silhouette Design store) and added a puffy heart to the centre.
This is a great design for multi photos if you wanted and you get to use many pattern pieces on one layout. My photo is double matted on paper from the A5 paper pad, which means you do not have to cut into 12×12 papers!
Thank you for stopping by and I hope this layout has inspired you in some way!
It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new layout featuring the gorgeous Happy Days collection!
For this project I was given the assignment of using patterned paper for my background and chose the ‘B’ side of the ‘Feel Good patterned paper’ to document a photo of my Mum and I taken a few years ago.
I chose a title cut file from CUT to YOU to add to my layout, cutting it from white cardstock. I then backed the open letters in the word ‘Happy’ with various papers from the A5 paper stack. I added craft foam to the underneath of the cut file and then adhered it to the background. I love how the white cardstock is a big contrast to the yellow background, this really helps the elements pop off the yellow patterned paper. I made sure to only use a small amount of adhesive so that things could be tucked underneath the cut file.
Above the cut file I tucked in my photo, I first layered one of the papers from the A5 paper stack under the photo, I also tucked in two of the stickers from the Accessory Sticker Sheet and tucked them in either side of the photo. I cut out some phrases from another sheet of the ‘Feel Good patterned paper’ and adhered one on top of the photo and the other on top of the cut file. I love to layer embellishments on top of cut files to add some more interest.
At the bottom of the cut file, I adhered the long paper strip with the tabs on it to also from the Feel Good patterned paper, I love how that looks like the cut file is sitting on a shelf of sorts. This was a great opportunity to add some of the small phrase stickers from the Accessory Sticker Sheet to the strip. I cut out the Choose Happy journal card also from the Feel Good paper and adhered it to the right of the photo, I then added some quotes about being happy to it.
Some of the smaller embellishments I added to my page are the Chipboard hearts, the gold foil butterflies cut out of the specialty paper, puffy hearts, ephemera, enamel hearts and some more accessory stickers. I love the dimension that my layout has and I love how it turned out too. Lastly I stamped the date stamp as I always do on my layouts. Don’t be afraid to use a busy patterned paper as your starting point for your page, you can still keep the focus on the photo by using clever techniques to draw your eye to the photo.
Thank you so much for stopping by the Cocoa Vanilla blog today! I hope you enjoyed reading about how I created my layout as much as I enjoyed creating it!
It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new scrapbook layout with you featuring the GORGEOUS Happy Days collection!
For this layout, I am documenting a recent photo of myself and my 2 sons. It is not very often that we get a photo together so when we were together recently, I took the opportunity to snap a photo! I did print the photo in colour however as we are all mostly wearing black it goes with the Happy Days collection perfectly!
I started with a plain white cardstock background, as I often do and trimmed it down to 11′ x 11′ inches, adhering it to the ‘B’ side of the Flutterby paper. I then machine stitched a border around the outside of the layout to add some texture. Next I traced a dinner plate onto some cheap cardstock and free hand cut around the circle. I did not bother too much with how the circle was cut out as I knew that I would be covering it with lots of different patterned papers.
I took out the A5 paper stack and chose all of the different papers to include on the circle. I cut them into strips of different sizes and layered them over and under each other to create a shadows and dimensions on the circle. I adhered them all horizontally but changed the angles on many to create the eye catching look to the circle. I used craft foam and regular adhesive to create different heights and looks to the circle. Once I had completed the circle I added craft foam underneath the circle and adhered it to the centre of the white cardstock background. I love creating lots of dimension on my layouts!
I adhered my photo to the right hand side of the circle and also adhered the black and white doodled frame from the Ephemera pack to the outside of my photo. I love how the black in the frame helps to draw your eye to the photo amongst the busyness of the patterned papers. Next I decided to further enhance the photo by adding some of the gorgeous florals from the Floral Ephemera Pack. I added these tucked in and around the photo, using both foam tapes and regular tapes to adhere them. I also added one of the super cute Puffy Hearts to the bottom right corner and placed a tab sticker from the Accessory Sticker Sheet to the right side of the photo also. On the left hand side of the photo, I adhered the Hello banner flag from the Ephemera pack.
Whenever I create a circular design, I like to be able to add embellishments and my title around the outside so I did this again using the Chipboard Alphabet Stickers to add my title. I spaced out the words so that you have to read around the circle which helps to draw the eye around the layout. In between the spaces I added Die-cuts, Puffy Hearts, Puffy Stickers, more Florals, and Accessory Stickers. On the actual circle, in between the paper layers, I placed some of the phrase stickers from the Accessory Sticker Sheet, these help to tell the story about the photo I am documenting on my layout, more Puffy Stickers and some Die-cuts here also.
I absolutely LOVE how my layout turned out and hope you like it too?! I hope you can find some inspiration from my layout and create a similar page to mine using your Happy Days collection!
It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new layout featuring the gorgeous, new Happy Days collection!
For this week’s project, I was given the fun task of including the Sunshine and Lollipops paper on my project. There are a total of 3 designers including this paper in their projects this week, so be sure to check out their gorgeous work too!
I have had this lovely photo of my niece printed for ages, don’t you think it goes perfectly with the Sunshine and Lollipops paper?!
I love it when my photos go with my craft supplies!
I chose a plain white cardstock background (as I mostly do) so that those gorgeous colours in the collection can really pop!
I then decided to cut up the Sunshine and Lollipops paper into strips, you can see I cut them so there was a lighter and darker version of each colour together.
I then pulled out my scoreboard and bone scoring tool and scored at every inch. Once this was done, I then just folded the creases in a concertina fashion to create the zig zag/chevron effect on the paper strips. I had to think about how I was going to get the strips to adhere to the plain white cardstock background. I ended up choosing double sided tape, running a piece down the centres of each one and adhering them on the cardstock. I did pull some of the folds out so that some were longer and shorter than others, I love how this turned out.
I adhered my photo at the bottom of the layout, overlapping onto the yellow and green paper strips. I added the ‘Good Times’ die-cut tab from the ephemera pack to the right side of the photo and also adhered my title above the photo. I chose the gorgeous Happy Days cardstock titles also from the ephemera pack for my title and also added a few phrase stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet to add to the title.
To embellish my layout I chose a tone on tone look. What this means is that you place same or similar colour elements against each other. For instance on the yellow paper strip, I have placed a yellow puffy heart and a yellow flower top and bottom of the paper strip. I repeated the same tone on tone look for each of the paper strips, choosing lots of fun embellishments from the ephemera pack, the puffy hearts pack, the puffy shape stickers and accessory stickers.
I love how the folded paper strips create lots of dimension and shadows on my layout! Some other ways you might recreate this layout is by adhering the paper strips horizontally instead of vertically. Or you could even try weaving them for a really effective look as well! The possibilities are endless! The Sunshine and Lollipops paper would have to be one of my favourite papers in the Happy Days collection! What is your favourite? Lastly I added the heart paper strip to the very bottom of the layout and I stamped the date stamp of when the photo was taken.
Thank you for stopping by the Cocoa Vanilla blog today! I hope you are inspired by my layout and enjoyed reading about how I created it. You are always welcome to recreate this layout if you wish using your Happy Days collection! I would love to see what you come up with!
I love all the different colours and patterns in the Happy Days collection! I just had to create a layout using the gorgeous Juicy Fruit paper and coordinating embellishments, these colours remind me of summer! I have scrapped two photos of me and my youngest which are some of my fav photos of us.
I used the two gingham papers from the A5 paper stack, and so I only had to use one of the 12×12 papers I cut the large circle in the middle so I could use the rest as a border against the white cardstock. My circles measure 7×7 inches, 4×4 inches and 3×3 inches.
I created my title and sub titles using the puffy alphas, using varying colours of the blues on the sheet. I next added the journal block ‘just peachy’ from the A5 paper stack with foam tape to the top circle.
I used this sticker from the Accessory Sticker Sheet so later I could go back and add my own hand writing and date. I don’t usually add a lot of journal spaces or add large titles but this circle design allowed for it to be easily added and look good at the same time.
I next added my photos which I matted using a yellow and aqua colour papers and adhered with foam tape. I created a small floral cluster to the left of the first photo using the Floral Ephemera. I next created another, larger embellishment cluster the right of my second photo, adding the lemon and peach die cuts from the Die Cut Ephemera and more floral blooms. I layered them and some I used foam tape to add dimension.
To finish off my layout I add a phrase sentiment die cut to my photos, a yellow puffy heart and added a butterfly with phrase sticker, who can resist adding a butterfly somewhere on a layout right!!
This is a ‘busy’ page for me but I loved how this came together! Colour choices can make or break a busy layout, so keeping it to three colours allows you to add lots to your layout without it looking too overwhelming or busy.
As always thank you for stopping by and I hope this has inspired you in some way today!
