Hey y’all! Laura here with a bouncy, energetic layout featuring my darling girls enjoying their favorite outdoor activity, jumping on the trampoline! I decided I wanted this layout to have just as much energy as these two bunnies! Using the stunning Happiness collection’s 6×8 paper pad to back this sweet heart wreath cut file from Paige Evans made a super easy background when layered on this mixed media styled Sprinkles patterned paper.
In the top right corner, I tucked in a tag, ticket, and a heart behind one of the sweet little word phrase banners for a cute cluster. As a bonus, this adds a journaling spot amidst the business to add a quick reflection on the twins’s favorite activity. In the bottom left corner, I added a floral/heart cluster with my title phrase banner, “Stay Colorful,” which came from the ephemera pack.
To add a bit of detail, I stamped some teeny tiny hearts as well as some Nuvo drops and splatters around the outside of the wreath. In random places, I tucked in clear stickerhearts for a fun, peek-a-boo effect. This layout is such a fun, happy, bouncy design that perfectly matches these two wild bunnies jumping around!
I hope this cut file layout inspires you to look at your patterned papers a little differently! It’s fun to see how you can use every little scrap up in a new way. If you’d like to see the Stay Colorful layout come together, I have the entire process in the video below!
Hello Friends. It’s Anna here with my newest layout. This time I reached for quite new line called “Happiness”. It is one of my favorite CVS collections, because of the joyful colors and amazing flowers. You can find all rainbow there and I already made many pages with it. This time I scrapbooked two cute photo of my younger daughter. I bought her everyday care lipstick in a cherry flavour and she made herself pretty :D She scared me with a big, redish spot around her lips asking if she looks good. I needed to scrapbook her cuteness and snapped few photos. They finally made their way to the layout.
I started with a wooden pattern paper called “Bright & beautiful“. You have to agree that this kind of paper works perfectly as a background for many projects. I chose paper scraps in various colors and cut the title using my Silhouette Cameo. Each letter is in different color. You can use you smalled paper pad for this purpose too. I also fussu cut some butterflies from the other side of my background paper using second sheet.
I kept my composition simple and clean with no mixed media. Pretty papers and embellishments play the main role here. After my title and photos were glued down I added bits and pieces from Ephemera pack, like flower clusters, tassels and words.
I placed my butterflies color on color, combining them with letters. If you don’t own any die cutting machine you can hand cut the letters in various shapes and sizes. It’s quite fast and simple technique. We do not aim in being precise here. I wanted to achieve more whimsical effect here.
This page came together really fast. With no mixed media background I didn’t have to wait for layers to dry. Even though I love getting my fingers dirty, I appreciate simple and clean designs from time to time. After all, my cute girl is the best embellishment of this layout :)
That is all for today. Thank you for stopping by and see you in two weeks <3
Hey Everyone its Michelle here today. I have a new layout to share with you all that I’ve made for our current ‘Texture’ theme using the bright and cheerful Happiness Collection. Texture can be added to layouts in a multitude of ways using a variety of techniques and products. Now I’m no good at Mixed Media layouts, they always turn out terrible, so I’ve chosen to go down the ‘clean’ scrapping path that I’m comfortable and familiar with to save you from the horror HAHA
I began with a bunch of scrap papers from the Happiness collection which I cut into different size strips, using a mix of both 6×8 and full size patterns. I added texture to each strip by lightly distressing the edges using my fingernail, and gave myself a few paper cuts along the way. To save your own fingers from the same fate as mine you can get this same effect using a distress tool or the edge of a pair of scissors.
I adhered the strips randomly down the left side of the white cardstock, ensuring to mix the patterns, colours and strip sizes as I went, then sewed each individual strip using my sewing machine. I used a mix of both straight and zigzag stitch to add a little extra detail and texture to the layout but it also enabled me to fold the edges of each strip upwards for that finishing touch.
I chose a couple of cute photos of Leila, printed B&W so not to clash with the colourful background, and backed with a pink pattern paper to compliment the strips and make the photos pop.
Under the right side of the photo I added my very last floral cluster from the wreath pattern paper in this collection. I’ve cut up and used these clusters on quite a few of my layouts as they’re super sweet and perfect for layering. You can also see a peek of the pink muslin fibres I added in for a different element of ‘texture’
I added the title over the top of the floral cluster using a mix of elements and handwriting. The ‘Hello’ is from the Foam title stickers pack that can be found in the ‘Unforgettable’ collection and the white alpha stickers are an older product from the ‘Colour Me Happy’ collection that is no longer available. I sewed through the alpha stickers to keep them adhered to the layout in years to come, but also for a little added detail and texture for this corner of the layout.
In the top right of the layout I tucked in a little more of the pink muslin fibres, added a fussy cut butterfly, heart from the ephemera pack and ‘the good stuff’ sticker that can be found on the accessory stickers sheet of the Happiness Collection. The cute little glitter enamel dots are from the ‘Make a Wish’ collection and have to be my most favourite finishing touch to any layout.
Lastly a second mini cluster on the bottom of the layout, replicated using similar items to the top cluster for a cohesive look. I also added the usual splattering of gold ink to finish the layout off.
Well friends thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing my take on adding texture to layouts. I kept it pretty simple and mess free, just the way I like it. Be sure to share your texture ideas and techniques with us in the Cocoa Vanilla Studio FB Group, we love to see what and how you all create!
Hey friends! Thanks for stopping by the blog today. It’s Kylie back with you all with a new layout to share. My assignment for todays’ theme was to include texture! Texture can be added to a page layout in many ways, however I have chosen to keep things simple and use layered, distressed paper to build dimension and texture as a back drop to my photos. I chose the ‘HAPPINESS” collection as it has such a pretty colour palette of light and dark hues.
I chose a white background for my layout, and whilst the finished result shows a little water-colouring in the background, I didn’t actually add this until my page was finished.I trimmed down various papers to different widths and lengths, this was done by eye and no need for accuracy or measuring.I heavily distressed each edge of paper with my distress tool but if you don’t have a distress tool the blade of your scissors will achieve the same result. In places, some of the paper tore a little and this is OK! It all adds to the textured effect. After this step I began placement of each strip horizontally on the page. Some were tucked underneath some were layered over the top of others, I also added a few scalloped edges which I created with a craft punch. The longest strips of paper were placed throughout the centre of my page.
My photos were adhered to the page with some foam adhesive but first I backed them with some white tissue paper from my stash.Using some of the floral themed elements from the die cut pack I layered several around the photos for balance and a little more colour.Once these were all in place I took the time to curl the edges of the strips of paper a little more which you can see shows of that textural effect.
As I love large titles I chose a suitable few pieces from the word sentiments and added over another floral cluster, diagonally opposite my photos. By working with diagonal placement for your layout will help keep a level of balance.
Once my layout was complete I felt it needed a subtle amount of shading with water-colour. I delicately added some aqua toned diluted ink around my layout.Any excess was mopped up before it could dry too dark. Although this effect was subtle I felt it gave a nice finish to my page design.
Thanks so much for checking out my layout today. I hope you have enjoyed seeing this ‘textured’ technique and you give it a go too. This method is also a great way for using up any of those little paper strips and scraps you may have.
Hey y’all! Laura back again and this time to spread some Happiness! When I saw these two photos, the first thing that popped in my mind was to make a quilt pattern. Inspired by my lovely grandma, I cut several of the papers from the 6×8 paper pad with a 1 inch hexagon punch and then puzzled the pieces together to create a quilted flower effect. Such a fun design and so easy to make!
Once I punched all of the hexagons, I cut out small 1 inch square papers to use as a base and then taped each individual hexagon piece into a simple flower design. It doesn’t really matter which piece starts in the center, I changed up each of mine a little bit from the others. It’s a lot of fun to play with quilted designs!
To add a bit of movement along the page, I added fussy cut butterflies all throughout the quilted flowers and even created little Nuvo gold trails behind them, this gives the appearance of movement! Plus, I added clear stickers underneath clusters and butterflies to give it the appearance of depth. This works because the butterflies’ wings are popped up just a bit.
I hope this quilted floral layout inspired you to look at your patterned papers a little differently! It’s fun to see how you can use every little piece up in a new way. If you’d like to see the Happy Times layout come together, I have the entire process in the video below!
Hi there! Danni here with a soft and subtle mixed media layout using the stunningly pretty Happiness collection. I still adore all the bright happy colours in this collection and I had so much fun dipping back into it. The colours were a perfect match for the blue floral dress I am wearing in this photo.
I started with the lovely Sprinkles 12×12 patterned paper as a background because it already has that mixed media effect . I applied some iridescent gel medium in a diagonal across my page; this is a really fun medium to play with that adds a beautiful pearlescent finish. While it was still wet, I added some colour with distress oxide ink pads and sprays in a variety of blue and pink shades, using both a paintbrush for splattering and spraying directly onto the paper.
While that mixed media dried I took some butterfly die cuts I had lying around and traced them onto patterned papers, fussy cut those shapes out then glued them together along the centre of the butterfly body, leaving the rest of the shape free to add dimension.
I backed my photo with patterned paper as well as some white crepe paper ruffle along the sides for lots of lovely texture. I popped my photo right in the centre of my page and added the butterflies along that diagonal line of the mixed media. I filled in the gaps with the beautiful little butterflies fussy cut from Bright & Beautiful 12×12 patterned paper, bending them in the middle and only gluing down the centre to make it seem as if they are flying off the page!
I added a few florals and leaves from the die cut ephemera either side of my photo and a simple “happy” title from the die cut titles. I adore the script font of these, it is just so pretty! I went ahead and added several tiny word phrases and another butterfly from the accessory stickers and added a few lines of simple journaling on strips of white cardstock above my photo.
To finish off the layout I added a sprinkling of gold ink; you can never have too much sparkle in my opinion! There is a process video linked below if you would like to watch me talk through the process. Thank you so much for joining me today.
Hey all Rachel here! I recently realised I had never used the pre cut cut files, so I decided it was time! This geometric heart cut file from the Happiness collection it is so gorgeous and all I did was add some machine stitching! The photo is of my girl caught on our bed, but she looked so cute instead of telling her off I grabbed my camera!
I love the black foam sticker titles (from the Unforgettable collection) and against pinks and florals it creates a stunning contrast and visual impact. I plan ahead where I am going to position them as I wanted to add several.
I matted my photo on the frame of mind paper using the green side (all papers from the Happiness collection). I added it with foam tape as I wanted to tuck elements under it. From the Happiness die cut ephemera I added a floral bunch and two of the tassels and finished off this embellishment cluster with a gorgeous Happiness flair button.
On the other side of my photo I added a floral bunch that I fussy cut from the so fresh paper finished off with fussy cut butterflies from the bright and beautiful paper which I adhered with foam to create a 3d effect.
I next created my title using a mix of the foam titles (and hearts) and accessory sticker phrase sentiments. I added a Happiness clear sticker paint brush strokes over the sentiments.
I added another foam sticker title which I slightly curved to fit the shape of the heart. Lastly I added another row of machine stitching to border the page.
I love how this turned out and it’s just perfect to document my much loved girl! Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you all have a wonderful week and manage some scrapping time.
Hello Hello! It’s Michelle here today with a new layout share as part of our current ‘Scrap-lift the followers’ theme. This was such a fun theme to play along with, but narrowing down the choices on who to lift was a tough one! All our followers had such amazing layouts created for the interNational Scrapbooking Day/Weekend, but I finally narrowed it down to one. Here’s what I created using the Happiness collection
The layout I chose was one of a few that had caught my eye from the time it was loaded into the ISD Challenge group. The triangular elements were something that I really wanted to try on a layout and what better time than a scrap-lift!
This super sweet creation was made by Belinda Griffin for Gwen’s Grab 5 challenge using some of her favourite CVS papers.
I drew inspiration from multiple elements on Belinda’s layout including using 2 cute kids in a photo. I wanted to step back in time and scrap a photo of Leila and my cute little nephew from a couple years ago along with a fun title based on a catchphrase their Grandad tells them every time he sees them – ‘You’re the best’
I used recreated the triangle shapes top and bottom of the layout using most of my favourite colours and patterns from the Happiness collection and sewed them all down randomly and roughed up other edges. The papers used are SPRINKLES, GOOD VIBES, FRAME OF MIND and MEADOW.
I adhered the photo to a piece of BRIGHT & BEAUTIFUL and adhered it left of centre to leave space for the title that I’ve made using DIE CUT TITLES and some handwriting.
I fussy cut some of the floral clusters from the SO FRESH wreath paper, one of my most used papers recently, and adhered them diagonally across from each other using foam tape for a little pop of dimension.
I also added a couple of butterflies, mini hearts and phrases from the ACCESSORY STICKER SHEET to finish it all off.
Lastly I added a sprinkling of gold ink and called it done. I really enjoyed this Scrap-lift theme, and hope you like what I’ve made based on Belinda’s layout. Be sure to check in each day to see what the rest of the team has created based on our wonderful followers inspiration.
That’s all from me today, thanks so much for stopping by.
Hi everyone! It’s Sue Plumb here to share another design team project with you. For today’s layout I decided to re-visit one of my favourite collections – ‘Happiness’. (I think this is one of everyone’s favourites isn’t it?) I had some photos of my daughter that were taken a couple of years ago with her new bike, and I knew there was a super cute bicycle on the cut apart sheet in this collection that I could use to embellish my page.
I decided to use the fun spotty design of the Sprinklespaper as my page background – perfect for a page documenting a birthday present! I wanted a border through, so I cut the paper to measure 11×11″, distressed the edges, then mounted it on a sheet of blue cardstock.
I then took a scrap of pale blue and white striped paper I had left-over from the ‘Life is Beautiful’ collection (now available as a digital collection HERE); tore along the edge of it and added it horizontally across my page about 2/3 of the way up to act as the anchor point for my design. Underneath the torn edge I tucked some paper lace I had punched from the pink side of the Expressive paper, which I also added along the bottom edge in the right corner.
I then created some extra paper layers where I was going to place my photos using more of the Expressive paper, as well as pieces of the Good Vibes and Little Thingspapers. I also added a paper doily to add some extra texture. Once all my layers were in place I added my photos on top using some scrap cardboard to pop them up from the page. I then moved onto my embellishments.
I started by adding my title alongside my photo. (This is not the order I usually work in, but I knew I needed to get the title words down in the space before I filled it up with other things.) I chose the words good vibes from the Die Cut Titles pack, and also added a small heart from the Die Cut Ephemera pack. I then used a variety of floral pieces from the ephemera pack to create two clusters in the diagonally opposing corners of my photos. I also added a few small paper flowers I had left-over from the ‘Love Always’ collection.
Next I worked on my journalling cluster in the bottom right corner of my page. I added a torn scrap of the Good Vibes paper, more floral ephemera pieces and paper flowers, and the sweet little bicycle that I had fussy cut from the Little Things paper. I then added my journalling, a small die cut heart, and a phrase sticker from the Accessory Sticker sheet.
I finished off my page by adding a Flair Button and another heart to the left of my photo; a couple more phrase stickers placed above my title and finally, a butterfly that I fussy cut from the Bright & Beautiful paper.
Thanks so much for stopping by so I could share this with you. I hope I have inspired you to pull out some supplies and get creative today. Until next time, happy scrapping!
Hey y’all! Laura here, sharing a wedding layout using the beautiful Happiness Collection. I absolutely love this gorgeous patterned paper, Expressive, and had to use it for the background. It has such a beautiful mixed media design to it with little marks that appear hand-drawn, stunning! I decided to add a little bit of extra media via texture paste through a stencil to create a landing spot for my photo. With just a few scraps of papers from the 6×8 paper pad along the left side of the photo helps create a defined foundation.
I tucked in several floral ephemera pieces on the left side of the photo along with a few butterflies that I fussy cut from the 6×8 paper pad for a bit of fun. A couple of flags from the sticker sheet on the corner of the cluster. The title is layered along the bottom corner, overlapping a journaling spot with a sweet message about my darling husband.
Starting at the bottom right corner, I created a kaleidoscope of butterflies fluttering off toward the top, left corner, a few overlapping the photo. With a little bit of Nuvo Glitter Drops to create butterfly trails, it gives the appearance of movement on the layout. A little bit of gold ink splatter finishes off the edges!
I hope you found some inspiration in this wedding layout! It was so much fun to fussy cut out all of these beautiful butterflies from the Bright & Beautiful patterned paper. I find if I just adhere the butterflies at the center and leave the wings free it gives a fun 3-D look without adding bulk. Below is the process video for this layout, enjoy!
