Wild New Life Adventure | Great Escape | Michelle Stokes

Hello Crafty friends, it’s Michelle here today with a new layout share for you all. Shock horror as its not a layout dedicated to our furry kids this week, I chose a recent photo of Leila on her first day of High School. New level of life adventures has begun. Woo Hoo!

Using the A5 paper stack from the Great Escape Collection I’ve whipped up a grid design for the base of my layout design. I cut the squares in the middle row in a 3 inch size and the top and bottom rows in a 2.5inch size, then sewed around the entire edges of each using my machine. Each piece was then secured to the cardstock base using foam for a little dimension.

The photo (shared with permission from this spicy child of mine cause we all know how teens are these days) was printed in a 4x3inch size and packed using another pattern from within the A5 paper stack. I stapled both pieces together using tiny staples and adhered to the layout using a little more foam sheeting to pop it off the layout.

You can see above how the little bit of dimension brings the layout to life

I created a couple of larger clusters diagonally in the top and bottom corners using left over stars fussy cut from the Star Gazing paper that I used on my last layout, with a mix of enamel shapes, accessory word stickers and puffy stars from the foam titles pack

Next up I added the mixed product title using a word from the ephemera pack, letters from the chipboard stickers pack and words from the Foam Title stickers pack. If you’re wondering where the W came from – never fear, its just the M from the word TIMES in the pack that I’ve turned upside down.

I added a little journal spot from the Accessory Stickers sheet to the bottom of this square to note what the photo is all about, and theres also a date label tucked into the photo too that was added towards the end.

I added the usual sprinkle of gold ink from the bottle I have that seems to be a never ending supply, just like Mary Poppins bag, but I’m sure its going to dry up at any minute

Hello Cool Kid | No Limits collection | Josefine van der Hoeven

Hello Paperlovers,
How lovely of you to visit the Cocoa Vanilla blog today I love to see you here. For this boy themed layout I really wanted to work with the fantastic collection “No Limits” 
This photo of my son is from quite a few years ago but the colors and his cute little face fit this collection wonderfully well. For this layout I was inspired by a sketch by Lottie Loves Paper that I found on Pinterest. I love using a sketch. It can give you just that creative push you need at that moment.
I took a 12×12 white cardstock paper and choose six of my fave design papers form the “No Limits” collection. I cut out six 3-inch circles and provide the edges of the circles with a stitch edge. I choose white sewing thread and use my sewing machine. Then I cut a half circle in the circles and fold them over. See picture…..
As also shown on the sketch, I am stitching a grid pattern on my layout. I choose dark blue sewing thread for the grid design. The dark blue is also reflected in the title as in the photo.
I cut two larger circles from the patterned paper and stitch the edges with white sewing thread. I also cut my son’s picture into a circle and place the circles on top of each other.

I fussy cut several stars from the pattern paper and created a cluster of stars on the top right and bottom left of the layout. In this way, I create a diagonal design.
The awesome bold and cool words from the die-cut titles are perfect to use for a title. The title for this layout will be ” Hello Cool Kid” under the die-cut title I fold some extra dark blue sewing thread.
I complete the title with some extra word strips that I added with a black line by using my fine liner.

I placed a few extra embellishments like wooden buttons, puffy stickers and cardstock embellishments to decorate my boys layout. Finally I give my layout some white gesso splatters. And for a little more color I add some dark blue splashes. I choose the color Distress Oxide “faded jeans” I love ink and gesso splatters on my projects. It looks festive and creative and I love that so much!

Together | Storyteller collection | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends!

It’s Tarrah McLean back here on the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog with you and today I am sharing a new scrapbook layout featuring the stunning Storyteller collection.

I think this is now my 8th layout created using this gorgeous collection! Do you have this collection yet?

I am documenting 2x photos of myself with some of my fun girlfriends, choosing to create a grid style design.

I first pulled out all the horizontal pocket cards that would suit the way I wanted my photos placed, I mixed them up and layered some underneath others and also layered some of them under my photos too, Once I was happy with how they looked, I took a piece of plain white cardstock and adhered them all down staying with that grid style. I was so happy that the pocket card that reads ‘It’s A Good Day to Have a Good Day’ was a horizontal style one as I wanted to use the ‘Together’ word from the foam title stickers, it was perfect to place on that pocket card!

I could not leave the pocket cards blank so I added some embellishments to them all. On the title card, I added a chipboard heart from the Chipboard stickers, a puffy heart sticker from the puffy stickers and a journal sticker from the Accessory Sticker sheet, I stamped the date on the small journal sticker. The pocket card to the right of the title one I added a chipboard piece, 2x banner die-cuts and a puffy heart sticker to the banner piece, I also stapled the banner die-cuts using my tiny attacher.

On the pocket card below the title I added an accessory sticker and adhered a camera ephemera piece over the top using craft foam. I also tucked in a floral die-cut here from the floral ephemera pack. On top of the camera, I adhered one of the super cute wood epoxy buttons. The pocket card above the title I added a chipboard banner piece and a chipboard heart and created a small cluster of flowers and leaves from the floral ephemera pack, I popped up some of the flowers using craft foam and left some without, I like the different heights and dimension this gives my page.

It’s fun to treat each pocket card almost like its only little scrapbook layout! On the top photo one, I stapled a banner sticker from the Accessory Sticker sheet in the top right corner, using my tiny attacher. Doing this is a great way to disguise something you make not like in your photo, treat it as an embellishment opportunity and cover it up as I have in the corner of my photo! In the bottom photo, I added a phrase sticker from the Accessory Sticker sheet to the top of the photo and created another cluster of flowers using florals from the floral ephemera pack, this helps to balance with the cluster I created in top left corner.

CHRISTMAS JOY | JOYFUL | GWEN WRUCK

Hi Creative Friends,

Gwen back on the blog today with a new share using the ‘Joyful’ collection.  I am loving using these supplies for my Christmas scrapbooking this year.  Today I’m documenting a series of photos of my daughter from quite a few years back.  I don’t usually scrapbook with multiple photos so it’s nice to be able to do something a little different for this page and document this sweet little moment.

For this layout, I decided on a grid design.  To help me with that, I’m using the ‘Pocket Cards’.  I went ahead and chose several to create six blocks for the grid on my layout.  I’ve used the ‘Very Merry’ pattern paper for my background and the ‘Holly Days’ stripe pattern as my border.  I’ve also used this stripe to create my photo mats, making sure that I keep all of my stripes running left to right.

I’ve added in my signature stitching elements to the page as well, around the photos and also the border of the layout.  I’m loving this soft peach colour with this collection, it contrasts beautifully.

I was also keen to use the ‘Christmas Joy’ title from the ‘Chipboard Stickers Pack’.  It’s quite a substantial piece so I knew I had to get it into position early in the design.  I decided to centre it under two of my photos placed towards the left of the page.  To balance that out, I’ve placed my third photo towards the right hand side of my page.

I’ve then gone ahead and created several embellishment clusters, treating each block as a section but also making sure that everything balances out on the page overall.  I’ve mixed and matched elements from the ‘Die Cut Ephemera’ pack, the ‘Chipboard Stickers’, fussy cut florals from the ‘Tis the Season’ pattern paper, the ‘Accessory Stickers Sheet’ and even some of the ‘Epoxy Buttons’.

Once all of the embellishments were placed, I’ve gone back and added in some more stitching around the edges of each of the pocket cards which you can see here… AND… how sweet is this bunny from the ‘Die Cut Ephemera pack’?  I love how it sits on top of the wreath that is printed on the pocket card.  I’ve added mine here with dimensional tape to create layers on my page.

The shine of the gold foil on the elements in this collection is so lovely.  Here you can see the thickness of the chipboard in my title and that shine!

Love | These Days Collection | Raquel Bowman

Hi everyone, it’s Raquel here with you today sharing with you some ‘These Days’ inspiration. This is the first layout that I have created with this new collection and oh my, it is just so gorgeous.

Here is the layout I created to share with you today:

This layout is featuring my beautiful new nephew and my beautiful and proud daughter and cousin. I absolutely adore these photos of my little girl holding her cousin and I wanted to showcase them. I used a fun grid design cut file from Cut To You which then inspired my photo size and amount of photos I chose to feature on this layout. I decided to back the photos into the cut file and printed them approx 3×4″ size in black and white.

 

The grid design of the cut file encouraged me to use the patterned paper to back the different sections. This allowed me to bring in a variety of papers and the bring contrast to the page. When adding the patterned papers to the page I tried to balance the prints and colours to ensure that the layout still looked appealing to the eye.

To embellish the layout I added three main clusters to the layout as well as some other embellishments to help guide your eyes around the layout. The embellishments I have mainly used are ephemera but also accessory stickers, clear stickers and puffy stickers.

The ‘Little Moments of Joy’ sentiment embellishment piece was fussy cut from one of the 3×4″ pocket cards. It was the perfect addition to this page.

The top right of the layout features a photo. I added my fave embellishment the ‘tab’ to the left of the photo. The finishing touch was the cute little puffy sticker hearts. I would just love a whole sheet of those little hearts.

I used the multi coloured tiny puffy alphabet stickers to add my daughters and nephews name.

I framed the whole layout with the yellow gingham paper and adhered the whole square cut file onto the woodgrain paper. I adhered the cut file and a selection of the embellishments to the page using a foam tape to add dimension.
