Great Escape collection

Wild & Free | Great Escape | Rachel Lowe

Today I am sharing another layout using the fab! Great Escape collection! This layout has been created using only the A5 Paper Pad.

The only thing you have to remember is that anything you cut must be 6×8 inches. This is a great way to either save your 12×12 inch papers or when your supply of the 12×12 inches papers is running low. I cut 10 scallop strips using different colours and patterns to create my background. So they stood out I added some black machine stitching to each strip.

I next cut my title Wild & Free using a cut file from the Silhouette design store which I then offset using a darker colour to add contrast so my title really popped on the white background paper.

Using another cut file from the Silhouette Design store, polaroid Frames, which I back filled with the journal cards also from the A5 paper pad. I added my two photos and set about embellishing this with Puffy Stickers, Accessory stickers and ephemera die cuts.

I used chipboard pieces to add over my scallop paper strips to add dimension. I layered the stars and used foam tape to add dimension.

This layout was super easy to put together and you could do a 8 1/2 x 11 inch version. You could also add larger photos or more photos. I love the colours of this collection and the A5 paper pad has some colours/designs that are not in the 12×12 collection pack.

Adventure Getaway | Great Escape collection | Sophie Delorme

Hello Cocoa Vanilla friends !

 

It’s Sophie with you today and I am happy to share this new layout created with the Great Escape collection !

 

 

I went with circles for my design and selected several different patterned papers from the collection and placed them in scalloped circles (created with a metal die from my stash).

 

I selected a beautiful photo from our trip to the Rocky Mountains and centered it on my page.

 

I embellished around the photo with all these coloured circles.

 

I cut about half an inch for both sides of my 12×12 white cardstock and placed it on the beautiful striped paper “Journey” from the collection. It recalls all the colours from the circles and ties everything together !

 

 

Finally, I embellished the layout with Die cuts from the Die Cut Ephemera pack, stars from the Puffy Stickers pack and used a Foam Title Sticker for my title.

Crazy Little Adventurer | Great Escape | Michelle Stokes

Happy Weekend Crafty friends, it’s Michelle back with you today. I’ve used the Great Escape Collection for this layout to document our crazy little adventurer from a couple years back. Lets get into it..

As you can see I’ve gone fussy cutting mad again, this time with the Flags paper Happy Camper. I spent many nights in front of the TV cutting up that entire page of flags without any idea of how I was going to use them all. Then it hit me, let’s create another wreath / sunburst style type of layout.

I started with a blank piece of white cardstock with a roughly drawn large circle centred in the page and all the flags set out in colour groups ready to go. The easiest way I found to get a good mix of the colours around the circle was to work with each colour individually. Thankfully each flag design/colour had 3 of each so it was easy to place evenly in thirds around the whole thing. I used foam tape to adhere each flag to the background which gives it that little pop of dimension. I added more texture to the layout by sewing all the pieces down using my machine and a straight stitch.

Our Happy yet Crazy Little Adventurer – LOVED this little trike and its a little sad that she no longer fits to ride it around. The speeds she would get up to on this little thing, flying round and round my parents little court.

I ended up cutting the entire circular flag piece off the white background and then adhering it to the bright Horizon paper. I felt this made the wreath pop so much more. Next up I added the photo layered with a piece of A5 paper, then adhered to the left of the wreath using some foam to lift it up.

I created the title using the puffy mini alphabet from the Heart & Home Collection along with the chipboard sticker word from the Chipboard stickers sheet. I layered in some stars and ephemera pieces to create a cluster of sorts to add even more fun to this already chaotic layout.

I added more of the larger stars around the layout to create more embellishment clusters, with a mix of tiny stars, puffy stickers and accessory word stickers scattered around to finish it all off.

I also added the usual splatters of gold ink to tie it all together and called it done.

Road Trip | Great Escape collection | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends!

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new layout created using the awesome Great Escape collection! I can not get enough of this collection! I think this is my 6th layout using this awesome collection and I still have heaps of ideas flowing! Talk about value for money!  I pulled out a super cute photo of my youngest son from when he was about 3 going for a ride in the car, I just love the thumbs up gesture- so cute!

I chose to work with a darker background paper choosing the ‘Journey’ patterned paper for this layout. I knew I was going to be adding the white cut file title and I really wanted that to pop off the page. The cut file I chose is from CUT to YOU, I cut out the title in white and cut out the road in black and backed it with some white cardstock to make it resemble a road as close as possible! For the large open letters in the cut file I took the A5 paper stack and choose various papers to add in the open holes. Once the cut file was all backed, I adhered the road down first using regular adhesive and then for the title, I added craft foam and then adhered it down in the centre of the page, I love adding craft foam so that it creates some dimension on my layout, this also allows me to tuck in bits and pieces where I want to if I feel some places need extra detail.

I added my photo on the right side, tucking it in behind the ‘D’ in Road I would normally layer a paper or a die-cut underneath my photo but this time I left it free of these. Once I was happy with the photo placement and the title it was time for my favourite part and that is embellishing! Below the photo I added a chipboard piece and I also added the flag chipboard piece overlapping the road and coming out of the ‘A’ in Road. The So Much Fun chipboard piece I added on top of the cut file and also added some of the phrase stickers from the Accessory sticker sheet to help tell my story.

I took a few die-cuts from the ephemera pack and also added these around my page too, I love finding the perfect piece that is the perfect shape or perfect colour to fit in spots! One of the many things I love to do when I create! I like to balance my pages and describe my style is very clean but colourful too!

Some of the smaller embellishments like the puffy shapes were some of the last things I added to my page, along with stamping the date stamp which is one of my go to things on every page! Do you have something you like to include on every project? Kind of like a signature? Lastly I trimmed down the ‘Journey’ patterned paper to roughly 11′ x 11′ and matted the entire layout on white cardstock. I then machine-stitched a border using black thread around the entire edge of the layout.

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new layout featuring the awesome Great Escape collection.

Last year I was lucky enough to go to Ayers Rock for work, this collection is absolutely perfect for my photo, the colours match so well!

Lately I have been creating layouts that mainly just use embellishments, with very little patterned paper added to my layout, this layout is one of these where I chose just 3 different papers however 2 of them were just small strips, 1 strip from the Adventurer paper and 1 from the Wild Life paper. My background paper is the Happy Camper paper. I created my layout on plain white cardstock and trimmed the plain cardstock down to measure 11′ x 11′, once trimmed, I adhered it to the Happy Camper paper. Next, I machine-stitched a border around the outside.

Next, I added my photo with a frame die-cut layered underneath, adhering it with some craft foam to add some dimension. On the left-hand side of the photo, I tucked in the tag from the Accessory sticker sheet and also another piece of paper from the Wild Life paper. I then added both of the strips of patterned papers to the bottom, placing them horizontally. At the top, I added some chipboard and another die-cut. I layered the banner sticker in the top right-hand corner of the photo too. On the right of the photo, I placed another of the stickers from the Accessory sticker sheet.

My title is one of the puffy title stickers, I placed this at the bottom of my photo. I placed some more chipboard pieces including the arrow on the left hand side and the road sign on the bottom left corner of the photo and the Let’s Go banner also from the chipboard pack. I also placed some of the puffy stars from the title pack around the layout. Lastly I added some of the phrase stickers from the Accessory sticker sheet to help tell the story, stamped the date stamp and sprinkled some black mist.

Fun Times | Great Escape | Rachel Lowe

Hello crafty friends! Today I am sharing a layout using the fab Great Escape collection. I just love these photos of my youngest when he was a little one. The orange T shirt and ‘nature’ background are perfect colours for this collection.

I love white as my base but adding bright and patterned borders really make it stand out. I used Adventure paper and Happy Camper paper to border the white.

I used a cut file from the Silhouette Design Store to create the paper strips on the white cardstock. I used Horizon and Star Gazing paper.

I next added my 3×4 inch photos matting them using a paper from the A5 paper stack.I created embellishments clusters around my photos using the Ephemera Die Cuts adding them with foam top over and under my photos.

To add dimension to my layout I used the Chipboard and die cut stars to layer over the stars on the star paper strips. I also added stars from the Puffy Star Stickers to the centres of those stars.

I used the Accessory Stickers to create my sub journalling using the phrase sentiments and added them by following the curve of the yellow paper.

I used the Chipboard word ADVENTURE as my title in amongst the star paper with foam tape.

I added more chipboard, using the repeat method to tie the outer border paper into the actual layout.

This was a fun layout to create and I am happy that I finally scrapped these photos. Thank you for stopping by and see you again soon.

Wild New Life Adventure | Great Escape | Michelle Stokes

Hello Crafty friends, it’s Michelle here today with a new layout share for you all. Shock horror as its not a layout dedicated to our furry kids this week, I chose a recent photo of Leila on her first day of High School. New level of life adventures has begun. Woo Hoo!

Using the A5 paper stack from the Great Escape Collection I’ve whipped up a grid design for the base of my layout design. I cut the squares in the middle row in a 3 inch size and the top and bottom rows in a 2.5inch size, then sewed around the entire edges of each using my machine. Each piece was then secured to the cardstock base using foam for a little dimension.

The photo (shared with permission from this spicy child of mine cause we all know how teens are these days) was printed in a 4x3inch size and packed using another pattern from within the A5 paper stack. I stapled both pieces together using tiny staples and adhered to the layout using a little more foam sheeting to pop it off the layout.

You can see above how the little bit of dimension brings the layout to life

I created a couple of larger clusters diagonally in the top and bottom corners using left over stars fussy cut from the Star Gazing paper that I used on my last layout, with a mix of enamel shapes, accessory word stickers and puffy stars from the foam titles pack

Next up I added the mixed product title using a word from the ephemera pack, letters from the chipboard stickers pack and words from the Foam Title stickers pack. If you’re wondering where the W came from – never fear, its just the M from the word TIMES in the pack that I’ve turned upside down.

I added a little journal spot from the Accessory Stickers sheet to the bottom of this square to note what the photo is all about, and theres also a date label tucked into the photo too that was added towards the end.

I added the usual sprinkle of gold ink from the bottle I have that seems to be a never ending supply, just like Mary Poppins bag, but I’m sure its going to dry up at any minute

Adventure | Great Escape collection | Sue Plumb

Hi everyone, it’s Sue Plumb here to share my latest design team project with you. Today I am sharing another layout using the fabulous ‘Great Escape’ collection that documents a photo of Zoe and I on our trip to the USA back in 2019. This pic was taken the day we went to the Grand Canyon, and it definitely rates as one of my favourite days EVER – I am so happy we got to share it together.

I started this page with a sheet of white cardstock and added some ‘Naples Yellow’ acrylic paint to it using a brayer. I chose this colour because of it was a lovely earthy yellow, and I knew it would work well with the other colours of the collection. I then chose a selection of patterned papers for my papery layers, including the green compass print from the Direction paper; the mustard yellow crosses from the A5 Paper Stack; and the orange chevron pattern from the Happy Camper paper. I distressed the edges of the green one to add some texture, before layering the other two on top.

Once the papers were in place I then added some frayed gauze before placing my photo on top of the layers. You can see how I cut the orange chevron print into an arrow shape to run behind my photo from left to right, which helps draw the viewer’s eye in and across the panoramic photo.

For my embellishments, I started by adding three main pieces around my photo – the compass on the left edge from the Die Cut Ephemera pack; the get outside and roam badge (also from the same pack) at the top; and the group of trees from the Chipboard Sticker sheet in the bottom right corner. These three pieces created my visual triangle around my photo and gave me anchor points to work from for the remainder of my embellishments. The other reason I started with these embellishments is because they were all larger pieces and it is always easier to get the biggest things on a page first.

The next piece I added was the ADVENTURE title from the Chipboard Sticker sheet. I knew I wanted to run this piece along the bottom edge of the photo because it is quite a long title and it mirrored the shape of my photo. With all those large elements in place it was then easy to go back and add a few extra embellishments to finish it off. I used the so much fun banner piece and a few stars from the Chipboard Sticker sheet, along with some tiny words and a label from the Accessory Sticker sheet.

I was determined not to over-embellish this page and detract from the photo, so I finished it off with only a few tiny black ink splatters and my handwritten journalling on the label.

I am loving creating with this collection so much, and I have another project with it in the works at the moment that I can’t wait to share! I’ll be back in two weeks with some more inspiration for you.

Wild Times Ahead | Great Escape Collection | Michelle Stokes

Hey Hey, It’s Michelle back here to kick off another week of creative shares from the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Design Team. This week I’ve used the awesome Great Escape Collection to create this star filled explosion of colour to document our sweet little furry kids after a fresh haircut.

To begin I cut into the Happy Camper paper between two of the zigzag lines and adhered them to some white cardstock with a gap between to add all the stars. I cut up an entire sheet of the Star Gazing paper to get the right mix of colours and shapes to fill all that white space. I used both tacky glue and glue dots to adhere them to the layout for different heights of texture.

These 2 little fuzz balls are so hilarious when they have a haircut, its so much fun to look back each time.

I used a piece of the cool woodgrain paper from the A5 paper stack to pop the photo off the layout amongst all the colour.

Love Love Love me some stars, just about as much as I love fussy cut florals, and even though cutting up all that one sheet took so very long, I really love the texture it gives the layout

Theres a couple of accessory word stickers placed around the layout, and a mini cluster of beautiful stars at the bottom of the layout to balance it all out.

 

I created a mixed font title on the layout using the Foam title stickers along with chipboard sticker words. Perfect mix of textures to bring it all together.

I did add the usual splatter of gold ink to finish it all off.

Our Best Adventure Yet | Great Escape collection | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends!

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am here to share a new scrapbook layout featuring the awesome Great Escape collection! I don’t know about you but I love travelling and I love documenting those travels too! Recently my partner and I took a trip to gorgeous Tasmania, it was wonderful, these photos are from beautiful Cradle Mountain and this collection has been perfect to document our travels.

I started by cutting out a cut file from CUT to YOU from white cardstock and then backed the different words and frames with papers from the Great Escape A5 paper stack.

I added 2 photos in the frames of the cut file as well and I had to be strategic with what photo I added in the top frame due to the frame below covering up part of the photo. I chose the ‘Direction’ patterned paper as my background, I then cut the navy blue strip from the ‘Wild Life’ patterned paper and adhered it to the left hand side of the paper. Once the cut file was all backed, I adhered it to the same background paper. Usually I adhere my cut files using craft foam to pop them up, however for this layout I knew I wanted to pop up the mountains and other die-cut embellishments in the middle. I added the mountains, the Fun Times sign, the wood piece and the Adventure word all from the ephemera pack.

I also placed the compass die-cut to the middle of the ‘O’ of the word ‘Our’ in the cut file, I used craft foam for this piece also to pop it up off the page. Down next to the ‘Yet’ word, I placed the super cute camper die-cut and layered some phrase stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet on top from the ephemera pack. Once the larger elements were added to my page, I then added a few smaller embellishments including puffy enamel shapes and some more stickers from the Accessory sticker sheet, including the arrow sticker and the journal spot above the word ‘Our’. I love how the puffy enamel shapes add a touch of colour and dimension and I love how the phrase stickers help to tell the story if you don’t feel like journaling!

Lastly I stamped the date stamp and journaled where the photos were taken. I love how this cut file helped to make the design and placement decisions on my layout and the Great Escape collection really does make it so easy to create great memories!
