Hello CVS friends! Most that know me, know I use cut files on many of my layouts but with this layout I dusted off my metal dies and punches. I had forgotten how many gorgeous dies and punches I have. I still can’t resist Sunkissed and so I created another summer themed layout.
I have used only two papers from the Sunkissed collection, Growing Wild and Feelin Fine for this layout. Keeping to the rule of thirds I cut three strips in varying sizes with the pink strip in the middle. I used a punch to create the scallop border. Once I had adhered to my base paper I added a row of machine stitching on the edge of each strip to add definition.
I found a beautiful butterfly die and cut several in the same pink paper strip and using wet glue only in the centre of the butterfly adhered to my layout. I then gently pulled the wings up to create dimension. I did this to create texture so my strip didn’t look ‘flat’. I next added my title using the gorgeous glitter foam stickers .
I have used a 5×5 inch photo and added foam tape to adhere, as I like to tuck elements under the photo, my foam tape is not directly at the edges. I then set about creating two embellishment clusters on either side of my photo. I used a palm leaf die and then added florals from the floral ephemera pack and die cut ephemera I used the swimsuit and thongs. I finished off this cluster adding a puffy sticker and phrase sentiment from the die cut pack.
I created a floral cluster on the opposite side, tucking under leaves and finishing off with another puffy sticker and phrase sentiment die cut.
Don’t be afraid of creating embellishment clusters on a patterned paper like I have done here, as long as you add layers, use foam tape to create dimension it can work well design wise. I added a clear sticker paint brush stroke under my photo to provide a contrast against the white finishing off with a die cut heart.
I really enjoyed using my punches and metal dies, you don’t have to use many to make an impact on your layout!

Welcome to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog today. So happy to see you here!
It’s Josefine here to show you a new scrapbook layout that I created as a guest designer for Cocoa Vanilla Studio with the beautiful summer collection “Sunkissed”. Just in love with all the gorgeous designs in this awesome summer collection. I feel the summer vibe already!
My creative mind only wants to create with these beautiful paper pretties. I was inspired by the summer layout from Sophie Delorme and chose to also use the blue-green color background.
I start with a white piece of cardstock and cut out several clouds with my “Cricut Maker”
From a piece of yellow design paper I cut a circle to size. I use my sewing machine to decorate the edges with different stitches. For the clouds I use white sewing thread and stitch only the bottom. I place the yellow circle behind my photo. I put the clouds on my layout and slide my round photo in between.
I grab the different summer die-cuts and make a selection of which ones I want to use on my layout. Some die-cuts I also provide with white sewing thread. I carefully slide the die-cuts between the clouds. I like to use 3D elements on my layout. And I decide to fold origami butterflies.
I cut squares from the design paper in different sizes. For each butterfly, I use two squares of the same size. I fold the tip over and over until I reach the center. Then I fold the other tip over and over until I am in the center. Then I fold them together. I do this with two squares. I put both wings together and attach them with a string.
I use white and gold acrylic ink and make several splashes with my brush. I stitch the edges of my layout with white sewing thread using my sewing machine. I am happy how my layout turned out. So nice and summery!
I hope I was able to give you some great ideas and wish you lots of fun creating beautiful projects with this awesome summer collection! I want to thank you for stopping by on the blog today!
Happy crafting!

Welcome to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog today!
It’s Josefine here and show you my new scrapbook layout that I created as a guest designer for Cocoa Vanilla Studio with the amazing summer collection Sunkissed. This is definitely one of my favorite summer collections. The colors are amazingly matching and everything fits together so well, your projects will look summerlicious!
I was inspired by the summer cocktail die-cut and decided to make a summer cocktail on my layout filled with a summer vacation memory.
I started with a white sheet of cardstock and grabbed different colors of distress oxide to make a light mixed media background. The colors I used are, mustard seed, picked raspberry, broken china and kitsch flamingo.
For the background I use two stencils. I start with the yellow color “mustard seed” and a sunburst stencil. with my distress (tool) brush I take a little distress oxide and start making circles over the stencil. When I’m done I remove the stencil and go over it again lightly and use the same technique. I do this also with the blue color “broken china” and using a dot stencil. The coloring of the stencil is done in the same way. Then I make splashes with the different colors on my background. This creates a colorful summer look.
I cut two strips of a 12×12 design paper of 3 inches and fold them. I glue the two strokes together. In this way I create a half rosette. This will be the base of my cocktail.
I use double sided tape and 3d foam to hold everything together. I place the half rosette on my background. I cut some designer paper to size and place it behind the photo to create some more layers. I place the photo in the middle of the cocktail and start decorating my layout with the awesome die-cut flowers.
I use a straw from my own stash and decorate it with an orange slice. Just like a real cocktail!
I am also using the beautiful wooden buttons from this collection! I am going to look for the perfect tittle for this layout. The awesome golden titles in this collection give just that little extra summer feeling on your projects! I choose the golden “summer” as a title and finish it with a word strip.
I’m almost done. I mix some white gesso with water and make splatters with my brush on my layout. This way I create an extra festive look to my page!
I cut the edges of the white cardstock sheet to size and placed a woodgrain design paper behind it. I use a sewing machine to sew the edges. I love how this layout turned out.
I hope I was able to give you some great ideas and wish you lots of fun creating beautiful projects with this fabulous summer collection! I want to thank you for stopping by on the blog today!
Hi everyone, today I have my second layout to share using the fab Sunkissed collection. I just adore this rainbow paper Sunny Days and this was the inspiration for my layout.
My photo is of my daughter at one of our gorgeous beaches in Western Australia. I used a swimsuit cut file from the Silhouette Design Store. I placed this on a slight angle of my page but only putting double sided tape in the middle of the swimsuit so I could tuck some flowers from the floral ephemera pack and so I could add machine stitching to the swimsuit (sewing machine needles do not like double sided tape).
I next added my photo with foam tape so I could add elements under it. My photo size is 4×5 inches. I am such a fan of puffy stickers and wood epoxy buttons which I have used to layer a single die cut.
I created an embellishment cluster under my photo my photo and using phrase sentiments from the die cut ephemera pack and so they didn’t get ‘lost’ on the busy rainbow paper I chose strong contrasting colours and added with foam tape to add height. I finished this cluster off adding puffy stickers and all Australian Jandals or thongs (flip flops for everyone else!!!)
I love adding embellishments to my photos, the sun puffy sticker perfect on my photo. I also added some gold hearts randomly over my rainbow paper from the glitter foam title stickers to add more texture to my layout.
I added some sky to my layout by tearing the top right corner of the rainbow paper and using the Just Chillin paper, which is the same paper I used for the swimsuit and adding a rainbow puffy sticker so they looked connected. If you are not sure about machine stitching on your layout here are some tips to make it easier: firstly make sure your speed is at the slowest in can be, this gives you more control and allows you to sew on the curves with greater accuracy, also I always add stitching at the beginning of my layout so if I mess it up I am not ruining a whole layout.
Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you all have a wonderful week with some time to scrap!
Hey Hey! Its Michelle back here today with a new layout share. I’ve used the stunning new Sunkissed Collectionand went a little crazy again with the fussy cut florals from the Growing Wild paper.
You will also notice that I added a touch of mixed media to the background of this layout, just like I’ve done with the last couple. You might be able to say that this clean scrapper has been slightly converted to the messy side. I went with the packaging technique using watered down ink sprays and some bubble wrap, giving the background a watercolour look. Then added a strip of Sunny Days across the middle to hide all the ugly parts and sewed it in place for a subtle hint of texture
The entire layout came together pretty quickly once all the elements were fussy cut, but I did notice towards the end that I was creating a layout design that is very similar to the last layout I shared. Whoops!
The photos I’ve documented are some of many taken at the last Cocoa Vanilla Studio Creative Escape Retreat. It’s hard to believe that this retreat was almost 2 years ago, but man we had a ripper time! This outdoor seating area was perfect for an afternoon beverage, even if it was just a Lemon Lime & Bitters.
I backed the larger photo with a piece of wood grain from the A5 Paper stack and the super pretty pink hearts paper Feelin’ Fine. There’s a tab from the ephemera pack tucked into the top, date label from the Fun in the Sun cut apart paper layered behind and a banner from the ephemera pack over the top. I added the smaller photo, backed with the A5 version of Feelin’ Fine, to the bottom left of the larger photo layered with the ‘welcome to paradise’ tag. This whole piece was raised off the background using a piece of foam sheet.
Next to create was the fun title to the right of the photo using a banner from the Fun in the Sun cut apart sheet and the word CHEERS from the gorgeous GOLD Glitter Foam Titles. Under this I’ve added more pieces from both sizes of the Fun in the Sun cut apart sheet and sewn through them to keep in place. There’s a phrase sticker above this from the Accessory Sticker sheet.
Above the title is the first of 3 floral clusters, this one made of multiple fussy cut floral pieces from the Growing Wild paper, a cute palm tree from the ephemera pack and a sweet little pink drink puffy sticker
Under the photo is the second large floral cluster using more fussy cut florals, some fun heart sunglasses from the puffy sticker sheet and another phrase sticker
Up at the top of the layout I kept the cluster very small using the same type of embellishments as the other two to tie it all together.
Here’s one final look at the entire layout. I’m super happy with the end result and glad I’ve been able to document another memory from this wonderful week in paradise using this wonderful collection.
Well friends that all from me today. Thanks so much for stopping by to check out my latest creation using the NEW Sunkissed Collection. I can’t wait to see all the creations you’re going to make with this collection too!
Hello Scrappy friends! It’s Michelle back today with a new layout to share as part of our current Sparkle and Shine theme. I recently got my DT Box full of Sunkissedgoodness so I was super excited to use it for this layout, especially the NEW Gold Glitter Foam Titles. Oh my HECK they are stunning and perfect for a theme like this one!
I started the layout by getting a little messy, yep you read that right. Clean freak here got messy for a second layout in a row! I used pink and gold shimmer sprays to create a watercolour effect using the plastic packaging technique, then splattered over the top using the spray tube. Once it was dry (and very warped) I added paper strips across the middle ( Fun in the Sun & Feelin’ Fine ) and machine stitched for a little extra detail. Then I hand cut the wavy edge in the ‘ Sunny Days ‘ paper and tucked that under the layers
I used papers from the A5 Paper stack to layer under the photo ( Just Chillin’ and a pink version of Bright Side ) This whole stack was layered with foam both between layers and under the entire stack to give it dimension off the super warped, never going to be flat background. I tucked a label from the ‘ Fun in the Sun ‘ cut apart paper and a tab from the ephemera pack into the layers also.
To the right of the photo I added a large cluster of fussy cut flowers from the 12×12 version of the STUNNING ‘ Growing Wild ‘ paper. I’ve got a stack more cut out ready for the next few layouts too. I added the title under this using the sweet Gold Glitter Foam Titles – a new edition to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Embellishment range. Absolutely beautiful product to use. Oh and the Wood Buttons are back too, those who have followed CVS from the early days will remember these from earlier collections. I took the adhesive foam dot off the back and used a flat glue dot to adhere to the areas that already had enough dimension.
I used more fussy cut florals under the photo to create the second point to the visual triangle of embellishments I was aiming to achieve.
And then up the top of the layout a much smaller cluster of florals mixed with bunting flags from the ephemera pack. This is when I started adding all the sequins (from the Daydream collection) and a few glitter hearts from the Gold Glitter Foam titles pack. Tiny sequins to add a little hint of extra sparkle and to give the clusters a more completed look.
Lastly I added a touch of handwriting to document this season of life, or I should say that season. A time when Leila would actually cooperate and sit still long enough for me to take photos like this. These days they are very few and far between now that she is 10. I cherish all the photos I was able to get when she was younger, I might need to use bribery for some updates!
Before we say goodbye for today, here’s one final look at the entire layout
I think its safe to say the messy stuff is here to stay.. it certainly adds an extra element of completion to a layout.
Well friends thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing my first creation using the wonderful Sunkissed Collection. I can’t wait to create more stunning titles with those amazing Gold Glitter foam words. What are you excited to use from this collection? Let me know in the comments below
Hi everyone! It’s Sue here today, and I can’t even begin to tell you just how excited I am to share my very first layout with the brand new ‘Sunkissed’ collection. I have to admit, I had another project already prepared to share here today, but after this landed on my doorstep on Friday afternoon, I just COULD NOT WAIT to use it! Let me tell you, the colours in this collection are nothing short of amazing! It’s everything my colour-loving heart could have possibly wanted.
Here is my layout “Sweet Recharge”, (aptly titled, as it features a photo of my kids that I took when we went out one day for milkshakes at a local cafe)…
I began my layout with the gorgeous warm ombre print on the B side of the Summer Lightspaper as my background. As I was dealing with strong, bright colour to start with, I decided to dry brush some white acrylic paint to define the focal area of my page. This would help provide some separation between the background colour and the colours of the papers I was going to use.
I then took a sheet of the rainbow striped Good Vibrations paper and cut a piece from the area that had the warm tones on it. I layered this with a piece of the rainbow print of the Sunny Dayspaper; then topped it with the polka dot print from the A5 paper stack. (This print is exclusive to the paper stack, and does not appear in the 12×12″ papers.) I also tucked in a small piece of the animal print from the reverse of the Growing Wild paper, then added a paper doily, some frayed gauze for soft texture, and my photo placed on top.
When it came to embellishing my layout, I really was spoiled for choice. This collection has sooo many delicious embellishments to choose from, and I just wanted to use them all! I started with flowers. First, a couple of floral pieces that I fussy cut from the Growing Wildpaper, which is the signature floral from the range. I tucked these pieces in around my photo (one to the right, the other below). I then started a third cluster using some flowers from the new Floral Ephemera pack, which I placed up in the top left corner of my photo. (This formed the “visual triangle” around my photo.)
Also included in this small cluster was the so happy tab, and a cute watermelon sticker (both from the Accessory Sticker sheet) on the corner of my photo; a sweet little flower from the Puffy Sticker sheet; and one of the Wood Buttons. I also placed a phrase sticker from the Accessory Sticker sheet nearby. Above my photo I tucked in a label that was fussy cut from theFun in the Sun cut apart paper, which I wrote my journalling on.
I padded out my remaining two clusters with more flowers and leaves from the Floral Ephemera pack, bending up some of the petals and leaf tips for added dimension. Down at the bottom of my layout I added a cute little garland from the Die Cut Ephemera pack and another couple of phrases from the Accessory Sticker sheet. (One of which I actually used as part of the title.)
The main part of my title came from the new Glitter Foam Title stickers which are really pretty and sparkly. (And if you know anything about my love-hate relationship with glitter, you would know how happy I am to say they did not shed all over my desk!) I finished off my title with one of the cute Puffy Stickers.
Finally, I added a few little heart Clear Stickers; and splattered around some black and white ink. I absolutely love how this page came together and am crushing all the gorgeous colours in this collection! I hope you are feeling inspired and planning on adding this collection to your stash too!
If you would like to watch this one come together, you can watch my process video here:
Thanks so much for stopping by so I could share this with you. Until next time, happy scrapping! X
