Foam Title Stickers

Hello Paperlovers,

It’s time for new inspiration from the beautiful and sunny ” Sunkissed” collection. I’m so happy to see you back on the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog today. We are heading into spring and with the sunny weather coming up I couldn’t resist making a sunny layout with a beautiful summer memory.

For this layout, I challenged myself to use only pocket page cards, die-cuts (flower), stickers, word strips, puffy stickers and the gold glitter foam titles. I created six clusters on my layout. I started with the two flower clusters. I placed these diagonally across from each other. I folded the flowers a bit so that they have a little bit more dimension on the layout.

 

I stitched the two rainbow die-cuts on top of each other with light blue sewing thread. I placed these next to the flower cluster on the top right. I choose three colorful hearts and fold them in the middle then I placed the hearts playfully around the rainbow. I love the beautiful, fun and playful text on the pocket page cards. I choose a pocketpage card tear it a little at the top and stitch a tab on the side with blue sewing thread. I decorate the pocketpage card with a die-cut and a puffy sunglasses.

 

I absolutely love the cute little “Sunkissed” puffy stickers. I even used them on the flower clusters. I tried to create a little bit of the tropical vibe.  I cut a pocket page card to size and placed it behind the black and white photo of me and my hubby. I decorated the photo with a tiny heart and a colorful word die-cut. On the right side of the photo, I playfully stitched a view labels and word strips together with light bleu sewing thread. I playfully glued the labels on my layout and decorated them with three gold hearts.

 

In the center of the layout, I left extra space for the title. The awesome gold glitter title words fit perfectly on my sunny and tropical layout. I choose for the title “Happy Days” This title and of course the white gesso splatters make my layout complete.

Welcome back to the CVS blog everyone!

Before I share my page today, have you seen the sale on the ‘These Days’ collection in the shop?! There are still some gorgeous pieces left from this collection at a hugely reduced price… you can check it out HERE.

SO for today’s layout, I thought I would create something with this collection to inspire you to grab the last pieces available for this collection or grab out what you have in your craft room.

This is a picture from Christmas, with a bunch of our family…These Days is perfect for documenting family, home…anything close to your heart really.

I used the black and white dot paper for the base of my page…a great neutral to get started. Next, I adhered 3 strips of patterned paper to add colour and layers to my page…these are 3×8 inch in size. These were adhered with foam to create dimension.

I created multiple layers behind my photo with different papers. I cut the mason jar and the blue scalloped frame from cards found in the Pocket Cards.

On the right of my photo I added some tabs from the Die Cut Ephemera. Also one of the Wood Epoxy Buttons to the bottom right and top of my photo. The heart tab is from the cut apart paper.

For my title I used the black Foam Title Stickers.

The strip of houses under my photo is also cut from the cut apart paper… then to fill out my page I used a bunch of florals from the floral ephemera pack and also fussy cut some out from the floral paper. To add more black to the page I added some of the black foam stems found on the title sticker sheet. You may also spot a few of the Puffy Stickers on my page..they are so cute!

Uni Life | These Days collection | Mandy Melville

Hello everyone!

Mandy here today for Throwback Thursday! I decided to dig into my stash and create a layout using the beautiful These Days collection. It was perfect for documenting these photos of my eldest daughter on her first day of uni!

I started my layout off with a sheet of the gorgeous Home Grown floral paper. Using a punch, I created a decorative border around the paper and then matted the patterned paper on a sheet of white cardstock. Next I trimmed down a sheet of the orange Wall of Fame paper to 9 inches square and layered that over the floral paper. I then matted my photos using the reverse side of the Home Grown paper and adhered them towards the top of the Wall of Fame patterned paper. So that the photos didn’t look like they were just floating, I gave them a ‘shelf’ to sit on by adding a strip of the woodgrain Pretty Posies paper underneath the photos. I also added a decorative element to this strip by punching a strip of leaves from the green Family Ties paper and adhering that across the woodgrain strip.

Using embellishments from both the Die Cut Ephemera and the Floral Ephemera packs, I created an embellishment cluster to the right of the photos. I tried to be intentional when selecting my embellishments for this page, choosing to use icons such as a typewriter and a stack of books, which tied in nicely with the theme of the layout.

I created another embellishment cluster in the bottom left hand corner of the layout, using more items from the Die Cut Ephemera pack. I chose the mug because my daughter loves to drink tea and often has a cuppa on the go while she’s doing uni work. I also added some typed journalling underneath this embellishment cluster.

To complete the visual triangle, I added a some more embellishing in the top left hand corner. I kept it fairly simple by just adding a banner and a tab as the page was already quite busy. The three embellishment clusters on the layout help to draw the viewer’s eye around the page.

For my title, I decided on using the beautiful Foam Title Stickers. However, as these photos were of a significant day, I didn’t necessarily want a generic title for this layout, so I decided to alter some of the letters to create the specific title that I wanted. The word ‘Life’ was already one of the words from the sticker pack, however to create the word ‘Uni’, I had to get a bit creative. I used the ‘U’ from the word ‘You’; the ‘N’ and the ‘I’ were both altered from other letters in the word ‘Home’. Don’t be afraid to alter embellishments to suit your layout. There’s no rules to say that you have to use them as is!

The Best | Unforgettable collection | Sophie Delorme

Hey Cocoa Vanilla friends!

It’s Sophie with you today with a new layout to share!

 

I use the beautiful Unforgettable collection this time. I wanted to highlight a yummy dessert that my sweet Sabrina baked and was so proud of!

I started with a thick white cardstock and used three colors from @Shimmerzpaints to create a little mixed media background.

I cut two pieces of the Sprightly paper and placed them horizontally on the top and bottom of the page. I did a zigzag stitch at their edge.

 

I centered my photo and mounted it on tissue paper and foam adhesive. I decorated in little clusters of embellishments around my photo and used the Foam Title Stickers – my favorites amongst all! – to create my title.

 

I scattered a few butterflies, handwrote my journaling directly on my background and stamped the date.

I am so happy with the result! I only had a few elements from that amazing collection left and tended to hoard them…! I am glad that I used them on this project!

Gatefold cards | Storyteller Collection | Anna Komenda

Hello everyone! It’s Anna here and today I will surprise you with my project, as I didn’t make another layout! I know! How unusual of me :) I recently watched live where fellow scrapbooker was showing how to make gatefold cards and I wanted to try making one or two. Even after so many years in crafty world I still have so many things to learn. Cards are my weak point for sure as I do not make them often. However, they are great little projects to try out new products or just play when the mojo is low. I reached for my well loved “Storyteller” collection to make my cards.

At first they look like a normal, rectangular cards but magic happens when you remove the belly band. Sides of the card unfold, revealing the inner part. You can make classical version with two rectangles on the front, or use your shape dies to make a window! This is exactly what I did here. Each card has a different shape used for the front panel – circle and heart. It’s important that the shape you use for the opening is symmetrical when you fold it in half.

I used colorful cardstock for my card bases in red and dusty pink colors. “Storyteller” collection is so colorful that you can easily match some cardstock to it. With the pink card, I left the cardstock visible adding only a small, navy circle around the opening cut out with A5 Paper Stack patter paper. Red card has a cute hearts patter paper in the front called “Oh my heart“. I matches the “i love you” phrase perfectly.

Gatefold cards like to open up themselves so it’s good to add some sort of belly band to keep them closed and flat. My red card has a band made with pattern paper and embellished with bits and pieces from Ephemera Pack. Pink one is closed with just a piece of acetate as I didn’t want to cover the composition. Inside of the card, visible in the window, is decorated with Foam Title Stickers. Each card got a different inscription. You can also use stamps inside or replace words with flowers or some other graphic.

Front covers of my cards are decorated with flowers from Floral Ephemera pack – one of my most belowed products in every CVS collection! They are so versatile and easy to use! I also added few butterflies from Ephemera Pack (I trimmed the white outline with my scissors) and super cute Puffy Stickers – hearts and dots. The best feature of gatefold cards is that you can showcase them on the shelf easily as they stand alone.

They are so easy to make when you learn the process and they look stunning. You can easily make a christmas version and I will probably try to create few. And how do you like them? Have you tried this card form before? You can find plenty of tutorials on YouTube for them. Just tyle gatefold card tutorial and many variations will show up.

The Good Life | Sunkissed + Unforgettable collections | Mandy Melville

Hello everyone!

Mandy here today and I’m sharing a layout featuring a couple of older Cocoa Vanilla collections. Our theme this week on the blog is ‘Mixed Collections’ and so I’ve chosen to use both the Sunkissed and Unforgettable collections. With the weather warming up, I was in the mood to create a bright and fun summery layout, and these two collections worked perfectly for this! The photos that I’ve scrapbooked on this page are of my youngest daughter and I when we had a little girls weekend away together recently.

I started my layout off by trimming 1 12 inches off one side of a sheet of white cardstock, and then matting it on the aqua stripe Splightly patterned paper from the Unforgettable collection. I added some machine stitching down the sides of the white cardstock to give the layout some subtle texture. I then adhered a piece of the gorgeous pink Unscripted paper, also from the Unforgettable collection, on the right hand side of the page.

I printed my photos at 3×4 inches and first matted them side-by-side on white cardstock. I then added some layers of patterned paper behind the photos using the beautiful Natural Beauty paper from the Unforgettable collection and the blue Bright Side paper from the Sunkissed collection. I then adhered the photos towards the bottom of the pink patterned paper, sitting slightly off to the left hand side.

Next I pulled out the gorgeous Growing Wild paper from the Sunkissed collection and fussy cut a couple of floral clusters. I tucked one under the top left hand corner of the photo mat. I also added a couple of extra flowers from the Sunkissed Floral Ephemera pack. To finish the cluster off I added a beautiful butterfly die cut from the Unforgettable Ephemera pack and a little banner die cut that says ‘Sweet Memories’ from the Sunkissed Ephemera.

I adhered another smaller fussy cut floral cluster on the bottom right hand corner of the photo mat. You can also see here that I added an Enamel Dot from the Unforgettable collection to the centre of some of the flowers. I like the way that this just adds a little bit more interest to them.

I created one final embellishment cluster to the right of the title, which completes the visual triangle. This cluster includes a Die Cut camera from the Unforgettable collection, a few more flowers and leaves from the Sunkissed Floral Ephemera pack, as well as a die cut banner from the Sunkissed collection. I adhered the banner with craft foam which gives it some nice dimension, and once again I used an enamel dot to add some extra detail to one of the flowers and the camera.

For my title I chose to use one of the phrases from the Unforgettable Foam Title Stickers. ‘The Good Life’ seemed to fit these photos perfectly! I love the way the title contrasts against the bright colours in the papers and embellishments and adds a nice pop to the page!

I finished the layout off by sprinkling around some die cut, foam and puffy hearts.

Sweet Days | Storyteller + Sunkissed Collections | Danni Visser

Hi Cocoa Vanilla Studio friends! Danni here with a layout featuring our newest collection Storyteller plus a little of an older favourite – the Sunkissed collection. Although these collections are quite different, the pops of bright yellow in both make it really easy to combine the two. They pair beautifully with the yellow shirt my daughter is wearing in my photo!

To begin this layout, I started with a sheet of plain white cardstock and the Brighter Days 12×12 patterned paper. I cut two strips from the patterned paper, one thick and one narrow, then distressed the edges. I adhered both strips to either side of the white cardstock.

Next I matted my photo. To do this I used a combination of the A5 paper stacks from both collections, plus a bright yellow 3×4 double-sided card from Sunkissed. I distressed and tore some of the paper edges for some extra texture, then added the photo over the thicker strip of patterned paper.

For my title I decided the sparkly glitter foam titles from Sunkissed were perfect, so I added ‘sweet days’ right below my photo. I also added a small banner text piece from the die cut ephemera pack in this space. I also used a few of the glitter hearts from the foam titles around my layout to bring in more sparkle!

The floral ephemera from these collections pair really well, especially the blue and yellow tones. I created three floral clusters around my layout; two either side of my photo and one to the left side of the page. I added in a couple of pieces from the die cut ephemera from both collections as well.

For some finishing touches, I added in a couple of the brushstroke effect clear stickers from Sunkissed, plus a few puffy stickers and some tiny word strips from the accessory stickers. I stamped the date with grey ink on one of the ephemera pieces, then added a small sprinkling of ink splatters around my ephemera clusters.

I was surprised with how easy it was to integrate these two very different collections, and I’m in love with the result! Such a bright, happy layout. I hope you enjoyed joining me today. Happy scrapping!

Captured | Storyteller & Unforgettable Collections | Melissa Vining

Hi everyone, its Melissa here and today I’m sharing a layout where I mixed a new collection with an older collection.  I used Storyteller for the new collection and Unforgettable for the older collection.  I used a cut file from Just Nick Studio featuring lots of leaves in a frame which was perfect for my photo of three of my kids dressed in camo and playing a game in our garden.

I used lots of the A5 Paper Stacks for backing the leaves of the cut file. These two collections worked really well together and I chose patterns that were either solid or with small repeating designs. My background woodgrain patterned paper is from Storyteller.

I used one of the Foam Titles from Unforgettable for my title.  I love how the black foam really pops! I added an Accessory Sticker from Unforgettable underneath the title.

Next to my photo I placed a cut apart from Unforgettable.  I distressed the edges and tucked it under my photo. I added a Wood Button on top of it. I embellished my photo with a cute heart Accessory Sticker.

I didn’t have too much journaling for this page, I used an Accessory Sticker from Storyteller to detail what was happening in my photo.

Love Our Story | Storyteller | Kellie Moore

Hello everyone and welcome back to the CVS blog.

Today I’m sharing a page using the new ‘Storyteller’ collection with a focus on florals.

I decided I wanted to divide my page into thirds, using blue, yellow and red as the focus for each section. To start my page, I used a strip of white cardstock to stamp florals using my distress oxides..the red is Candied Apple, the blue is Faded Jeans and the yellow is Fossilized Amber.

I chose 3 of our wedding photos and printed them in black and white so they didnt compete with my colours. I wanted to have something to pop out from behind my photos, so I used some gauze that I coloured with the same inks…this adds a nice texture to the page.

Next, I went through all the embellishments..the ephemera pack, the chipboard, accessory stickers, wooden buttons and puffy hearts and pulled out all the colours that matched and icons that would work…making sure I used florals in each cluster.

While going through my collection I also found a yellow and blue stitched heart from previous page so I included these as well..

For my title, I used the Foam Title Stickers, placing one word on each line of the page… including some of the black foam hearts…perfect for a wedding page right?!

This makes me Smile | Storyteller collection | Mandy Melville

Hello everyone!

Mandy here with you today to share another layout using the amazing Storyteller collection! For today’s layout I chose to document a few photos from my recent birthday. We went out for brekkie in the morning, which is one of my favourite things to do. It was the perfect way to start the day, and even though we didn’t end up being able to go the beach like we’d planned because it rained, I had such an amazing day. The Storyteller collection was perfect for scrapbooking these happy snaps taken of me with family while we were out to brekkie.

 

I started this layout off by trimming down a sheet of white cardstock and matting it on the green Fly Away paper. I then printed my three 3×4 inch photos and arranged them into a photo strip. I layered multiple patterned paper, mostly from the A5 Paper Stack, behind the photos to create a bright and colourful photo mat.

I love fussy cutting the beautiful floral clusters on the Spring Fling paper to embellish my layouts with. Here you can see that I added one of these floral clusters to the right of the photo strip. I adhered just the centre of the flowers to the page, allowing the leaves and springs to lift off the page to create some movement and interest.

I added another fussy cut floral cluster to the left of the photos. This one I adhered with foam tape and overlapped it over the edge of the photos. I also added a wood epoxy button to the centre of the larger flower in the cluster. I love the texture and dimension that this adds to the page.

Lastly I added my title and journaling. I couldn’t go past using the amazing Foam Title Stickers for my title. There are so many great words and phrases in this pack, and I settled on using the phrase ‘This makes me Smile’. It was the perfect sentiment for these photos. I typed my journaling on my typewriter and added the journaling strips under the title.

I finished the layout off by adding a few die cut butterflies and a sprinkling of puffy heart stickers to the page.
