Hey y’all! Laura back again with a bright and happy layout featuring the new Sunkissed collection! The rainbow strip on the Good Vibrations patterned paper just called to me for these photos! By framing both sides with this brilliant mix of colors, I could keep the color scheme of the layout open ended and fun! I added a strip of Sunny Days to highlight the green tone in my daughter’s shirt.
I love to fussy cut, so the floral perfection of the Growing Wild paper just called to me! These clusters are stunning and make creating a long floral border super easy! I also added a small cluster from the A5 paper pad version at the beginning and end of the title. The wood buttons are so cute, I had to add one in the center of my photos for a different texture on the page.
I used clear stickers behind a few of the floral clusters and as accents around the title. These glitter foam words are amazing! Love pre-made titles and this one was perfect for my sassy girl’s car trip through the sunny backyard. To fill in some of the white space, I added some gold ink splatter and Nuvo drops.
I also created a sketch based on this layout to show how all of the layers fit together and make it easier for your to recreate the design if you’d like to!
I hope this layout inspires you to have some fun with the bold colors and patterns in the Sunkissed collection! To see how the “Fun in the Sun” layout came together, check out the process video below!
Hi scrappy friends! Danni here sharing a fun rainbow layout featuring lots of hand stitching texture and summery goodness. I am really just starting to dip my toes into the new Sunkissed collection and I am having so much fun with it! Like several of my fellow design team members and many of you amazing Cocoa Vanilla Studio community members, I was instantly inspired by the gorgeous rainbow on Bright Side 12×12 patterned paper.
My first step was carefully fussy cutting all the rainbow stripes from the paper. I knew I wanted to do a bunch of hand stitching, and in hindsight the stitching would have been much easier if I had stitched first THEN fussy cut, but hindsight is 20-20 and at least you can learn from my mistakes!
Next I chose embroidery floss in colours to match each of the stripes and pierced stitching holes in my paper with an awl to prepare for stitching. I began by doing a chain stitch in the red colour, loved how it looked but I wanted more variety and texture so I decided to switch it up and add a different stitch to each colour. I really love this result! For reference the stitches from top to bottom are chain-link, cross, diagonal, zig zag, blanket and chevron. This did take some time over several days, but I get comfy in front of the television and stitch away while I watch shows with my family and the time flies by.
I decided to use Just Chillin’ 12×12 patterned paper for my background because I have been dying to use that gorgeous woodgrain. I knew the colours would pop on the neutral base and I love the more masculine, natural element it brings in, especially as my photo is of my two boys. I jazzed up my background by splattering white and gold ink, then glued down my rainbow stripes.
I used the blue daisy pattern from A5 paper stack to create a simple photo mat and added my photo to the left of the layout; as the rainbow is slightly offset to the right, bringing weight to the left helps to balance the layout. I added some of the stunning glittery foam title stickers under the rainbow, slightly overlapping my photo.
I wanted to cover as little of the stitching as possible, so when embellishing I chose the floral ephemera and cut several of them in half before tucking them underneath the edges of the rainbow stripes. The smaller florals I popped up on foam before adding to the clusters. I also added one of the smallest wood epoxy buttons to each of the clusters; they are just too sweet!
The finishing touch was to add a scattering of hearts from the foam title stickers and die cut ephemera, as well as some of the adorable cross hatch patterns from the clear stickers randomly scattered about.
I hope you enjoyed this layout! There is a process video linked below if you would like to watch it come together. Thank you for joining me and happy scrapping!
Hello Cocoa Vanilla fans! It’s Anna here with my first ever page made with new “Sunkissed” collection. I got it few days ago and I am so in love with all those colors and funny motiffs. You all know I love rainbows and this line looks like it was made specially for me. However, with all new collections on my desk I feel intimidated to cut into those untouched papers and my mind is floaded with many ideas, so I can’t decide where to begin. And we all know this feeling about using up your precious stash – I won’t use it because I won’t have it anymore :). So I like to start lightly with a simple page made with small amount of papers, or none papers at all like I did here.
“Sunkissed” collection contains of 12*12 papers, 6*8 paper stack and set of pocket cards and this is the product I decided to start with. All the fun patterns and colors shrunk to 3*4 size, ready to be put on the page. I picked 6 of them with solid backgrounds and arranged them on my white cardstock. They are my anchors for 6 square photos.
I live in Poland, Europe, and we don’t have tropical summers here nor palm trees. So whenever I get a chance to spend some time in more warm climate I feel like I travelled to paradise. I get so excited seeing all the tropical plants as they are so different to what I see every day outside my window. And what can be better than spending weekn in paradise? Spending this week with a bunch of fantastic ladies during CVS Creative Escape cropp. I had this wonderful opportunity in 2019 and I cherish all those memories so much. Venue is such a beautiful place with amazing beach. I consider this week as one of the best weeks of my live and I love going back to those memories and scrapbook them.
I decorated each pocket card with photo and bits and pieces from ephemera pack. This collection is special because it has two different packs: with regular elements and with flowers. So many amazing elements to choose from! I also added few stickers as they are always a perfect match with every project. And puffy stickers??? They are to die for! Such a great quality and fantastic motiffs.
My title is a combination of golden foam title stickers and some letters from my stash. In my opinion glitter can be combined with every line and you can never have too much of it. My yellow splatters in the background are also shiny thanks to the pearl mist but it’s hard to showcase this on photos. I am so happy Zoe decided to make those foam titles!
I honestly can’t decide which product from “Sunkissed” collection is my favorite. They are all so fresh, colorful and fun!
I hope this page will help me break this “too pretty to use” blockade and I will have another fun page with this line to share with you next time we meet here. Thank you so much for stopping by and see you soon <3
Hi Cocoa Vanilla Studio fans! I hope you are all ready for some tropical, summer-inspired projects coming your way because the new Sunkissed collection hit my doorstep just a few days ago! I live in the subtropics, so this collection is absolutely perfect to scrap my family memories most of the year round. Today is extra special because myself and the amazingly talented Anita Bownds are doing a scraplift swap and I get to go first (you will see her scraplift a layout of mine soon!).
It was pretty tough choosing a layout to lift because I love so many of Anita’s projects. I decided on a cutfile layout because this is an element that we both tend to use quite often, and it also makes a page come together very easily. There were several I loved but, in the end, I decided on this lovely bicycle page because I knew I had pics of my son’s first ever public bike ride that I had yet to document.
The beauty of scraplifting another artist is that the decision-making and design is already taken care of for you. I chose a similar cutfile by COAPA Cutfiles and cut it on white cardstock, then went ahead and backed it with patterned papers from the A5 Paper Stack and Summer Lights 12×12 patterned paper.
I chose the Just Chillin’ 12×12 patterned paper for the background, as I liked the cloud pattern and the pale blue colour. I matted the photo with some of the A5 paper stack papers I had already used to back the cutfile, to create a nice separation between the photo and the background paper.
For my title I continued with the ‘Summer’ theme of the original layout with the Foam Title Stickers¸ however I changed the second half of the title from ‘Fun’ to ‘Days’ so that I could use one of the Clear Stickers that fit just perfectly in the space.
I went ahead and used the Floral Ephemera to build floral clusters in the top left and bottom right of the layout as in the original layout. I tried to get a good balance of the colours and include some bits of foliage to finish out the clusters. I also added some tiny floral sprigs to the basket of the bike from the floral ephemera – so sweet!
Anita’s layout featured lots of sweet tiny flowers scattered around the page, and this is where I deviated slightly – I couldn’t resist the sweet tiny hearts in the Clear Stickers so I added a sprinkling of those where the tiny flowers were placed. I also completely adore the Puffy Stickers though, so quite a few of the tiny puffy flowers made it onto the page as well!
Some more personal touches I included were adding a bunting die cut from the die cut ephemera to the bike, plus a scattering of tiny word phrases from the accessory stickers in three places around the layout (I can never resist these!).
I really hope I did this scraplift justice. I am super happy with how it turned out and I had so much fun creating with the amazing new Sunkissed collection. I hope you enjoyed joining me today, there is a process video linked below if you would like to watch too. Happy scrapping!
Hello Hello! It’s Michelle here with you today to share a new layout. I’ve used a couple of different collections for this layout as part of our current ‘Green and Gold’ theme. A mixture of Legendary and Boys Rule with a hint of Daydream and Unforgettable.
When I think of ‘Green & Gold’ I picture bright Aussie style colours – Green & Yellow. So thats exactly where this colour palette took me on this creative journey this week. There are so many wonderful green patterns within the extended Cocoa Vanilla Studio range, but the shade of green I’ve used for this layout is by far my most favourite of them all.
To begin I created a grid style layout featuring a couple of cute photos of Lelia and her beloved bunny from a few years back that I printed out in Black & White. I cut out 3.5″ frames from papers in the Legendary Collection for both the photos and title areas ( Wild One & Explorer ) and added a strip of dotted paper along the bottom (Straight & Narrow) from the Boys Rule Collection.
This kid is an absolute HOOT! Her imagination has been wild from the beginning. This day in particular was so fun, creating a ‘Box Coaster’ for them to ride around the galaxy haha
I kept the embellishing of each frame to a minimum by using word stickers ( Accessory Stickers sheet – Legendary ), sticker heart ( Accessory Stickers sheet – Daydream ), tiny fussy cut stars ( All Star – Legendary ) and an arrow ( Ephemera pack – Legendary ). Both frames adhered to the layout using a piece of foam sheet to give a slight hint of dimension.
The title area of the layout also acts as a tidy spot for some hidden journalling. The ‘Wild and Free’ card can be found on the Epic Tales cut apart paper in the Legendary Collection and the hidden journalling card and ‘Be Rad’ piece can be found on the ‘Boy Stuff’ cut apart paper in the Boys Rule Collection.
Heres a peek at the journalling ..
I cut the card down slightly, rounded the edges on the right and made a tag top including punched hole at the opposite end to add string and tie a bow.
In the top right frame I added a couple extra words that can be used as part of an extended title. The white alphas are by far my most used Cocoa Vanilla Studio embellishment by far, and those foam words from the Unforgettable Collection work so well with pretty much every collection there is.
I sewed the white alphas down so that they stay in place for years to come, but also to add a little extra design element to the layout. I added machine stitching around both of the yellow frames to keep the white X paper in place (Star Fall – Boys Rule). The ‘You are my Sunshine’ can be found on the Daydream Collection Accessory Sticker Sheet and the green tab is a sticker from the Legendary Collection Accessory Sticker Sheet.
Lastly I added a bunch of fussy cut starts in green and yellow to the bottom left and top right of the layout, scattered to give the grid style layout a slight ‘diagonal’ design feel. I also added my usual splattering of gold ink to finish it all off.
Well friends thats all from me today, thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing my take on our current ‘Green & Gold’ theme, be sure to share yours with us in the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Community Facebook Group.
Until Next time, Happy Scrapping!
Michelle x
PS.. A little side note regarding the fabulous Boys Rule Collection…. Because all us crazy crafters LOVED it so so much when it was originally released, back in the day, sadly its no longer available.
Hey Everyone its Michelle here today. I have a new layout to share with you all that I’ve made for our current ‘Texture’ theme using the bright and cheerful Happiness Collection. Texture can be added to layouts in a multitude of ways using a variety of techniques and products. Now I’m no good at Mixed Media layouts, they always turn out terrible, so I’ve chosen to go down the ‘clean’ scrapping path that I’m comfortable and familiar with to save you from the horror HAHA
I began with a bunch of scrap papers from the Happiness collection which I cut into different size strips, using a mix of both 6×8 and full size patterns. I added texture to each strip by lightly distressing the edges using my fingernail, and gave myself a few paper cuts along the way. To save your own fingers from the same fate as mine you can get this same effect using a distress tool or the edge of a pair of scissors.
I adhered the strips randomly down the left side of the white cardstock, ensuring to mix the patterns, colours and strip sizes as I went, then sewed each individual strip using my sewing machine. I used a mix of both straight and zigzag stitch to add a little extra detail and texture to the layout but it also enabled me to fold the edges of each strip upwards for that finishing touch.
I chose a couple of cute photos of Leila, printed B&W so not to clash with the colourful background, and backed with a pink pattern paper to compliment the strips and make the photos pop.
Under the right side of the photo I added my very last floral cluster from the wreath pattern paper in this collection. I’ve cut up and used these clusters on quite a few of my layouts as they’re super sweet and perfect for layering. You can also see a peek of the pink muslin fibres I added in for a different element of ‘texture’
I added the title over the top of the floral cluster using a mix of elements and handwriting. The ‘Hello’ is from the Foam title stickers pack that can be found in the ‘Unforgettable’ collection and the white alpha stickers are an older product from the ‘Colour Me Happy’ collection that is no longer available. I sewed through the alpha stickers to keep them adhered to the layout in years to come, but also for a little added detail and texture for this corner of the layout.
In the top right of the layout I tucked in a little more of the pink muslin fibres, added a fussy cut butterfly, heart from the ephemera pack and ‘the good stuff’ sticker that can be found on the accessory stickers sheet of the Happiness Collection. The cute little glitter enamel dots are from the ‘Make a Wish’ collection and have to be my most favourite finishing touch to any layout.
Lastly a second mini cluster on the bottom of the layout, replicated using similar items to the top cluster for a cohesive look. I also added the usual splattering of gold ink to finish the layout off.
Well friends thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing my take on adding texture to layouts. I kept it pretty simple and mess free, just the way I like it. Be sure to share your texture ideas and techniques with us in the Cocoa Vanilla Studio FB Group, we love to see what and how you all create!
Hello again!! It’s Melissa here and I’m back today sharing a layout focussing on using a patterned paper background using the gorgeous Unforgettable collection! For this layout I made sure I selected a paper that wasn’t white based, because lets be honest – that would easy!! I also didn’t gravitate toward a woodgrain, which also would be easy for me! In order to not overwhelm myself, and to really focus on the paper I chose a neutral photo (without a lot of colours) and I printed it large because I adore this photo of Brielle dressed up in her bother’s stormtrooper costume. The patterned paper I used for my background is called Lacewing, and it is the B side of the gorgeous butterfly paper. I added some small splatters of water activated sparkly gold mist for a little bit of interest, but most of it got covered up!!
I backed my photo with Forget Me Not and made two triangles with a scrap of Unscripted from the 6×8 Paper Stack. Of course I had to distress all the edges of the paper! I used some leaf and flower cut files (designed by Anita for International Scrapbooking Day) that were left over from my scraplift layout. It was very satisfying to use them up on this layout!
I created two main embellishment clusters and once smaller one. I used lots of Die Cut Ephemera, the cut file flowers and leaves, and fussy cut butterflies from Lacewing. I always give butterflies more dimension by glueing them in the centre and popping up their wings with dimensional adhesive. Here’s a close up look at the butterflies on my top cluster.
For my small cluster I featured a Flair Button and another fussy cut butterfly. The “love this” flair button was perfect for my photo.
I also used the some of the Accessory Sticker phrases and a label which I lifted up on some craft foam for extra stability and dimension. I wrote my journaling on a label that I cut from Story Teller.
Two of the Foam Title Stickers were perfect for my title, and I used three of the foam hearts as embellishment around my page too. White Enamel Dots were my final touch!
I hope I’ve encouraged you to try using a patterned paper for a background. Cocoa Vanilla Studio collections have a wonderful mix of both bold and subtle patterns, and I find that the more subtle B sides work beautifully for backgrounds.
Anna here with you today sharing a new CVS layout with you, featuring the gorgeous Unforgettable collection. In this layout, I’m documenting a recent family photo. Our girls are growing so fast, so it’s important for me to remember how we are right now.
The assignment for this week was to use a patterned paper for the background, not white cardstock. So hard, I know!! After the little first shock, I went ahead and decided to use the Glorious paper as my background. Bold, right? I folded the top left corner of the paper to the center, so this way we can also see the B side of the Glorious paper. Behind it, I placed the Storyteller paper.
Peeking out from behind the fold I placed some flowers from the Die Cut Ephemera pack. I could never have enough of these flowers. To give more dimension to the page I raised them with foam dots. I also fussy cut a butterfly from the Pretty Bits paper, and stacked it behind the flowers. To finish the cluster I put a sticker phrase from the Accessory Stickers.
I put a thin coat of gesso to fade out the flowers in the center of the paper, to highlight the photo and the title a little more. I used two papers from the 6×8 paper stack to mat the picture. For my title, I used the Foam Title Stickers with this beautiful font. All the words are perfect for any kind of project.
Hey all Rachel here! I recently realised I had never used the pre cut cut files, so I decided it was time! This geometric heart cut file from the Happiness collection it is so gorgeous and all I did was add some machine stitching! The photo is of my girl caught on our bed, but she looked so cute instead of telling her off I grabbed my camera!
I love the black foam sticker titles (from the Unforgettable collection) and against pinks and florals it creates a stunning contrast and visual impact. I plan ahead where I am going to position them as I wanted to add several.
I matted my photo on the frame of mind paper using the green side (all papers from the Happiness collection). I added it with foam tape as I wanted to tuck elements under it. From the Happiness die cut ephemera I added a floral bunch and two of the tassels and finished off this embellishment cluster with a gorgeous Happiness flair button.
On the other side of my photo I added a floral bunch that I fussy cut from the so fresh paper finished off with fussy cut butterflies from the bright and beautiful paper which I adhered with foam to create a 3d effect.
I next created my title using a mix of the foam titles (and hearts) and accessory sticker phrase sentiments. I added a Happiness clear sticker paint brush strokes over the sentiments.
I added another foam sticker title which I slightly curved to fit the shape of the heart. Lastly I added another row of machine stitching to border the page.
I love how this turned out and it’s just perfect to document my much loved girl! Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you all have a wonderful week and manage some scrapping time.
Hello Friends. It’s Anna here with my new layout made with fantastic “Unforgettable” collection. Recently I am in a mood of using up as many things from my stash as possible. Don’t get me wrong – I love to just “own” scrappy supplies but saddly my scraproom doesn’t want to magically expand. This time I wanted to finish a pack of foam titles so I figure out a design that will allow me to do that.
I started with white cardstock base. Next step was to add a square of paper called “Sprightly“, right in the middle. After glueing down the photos, I added the foam titles on the edges of the square. I tried to fill them from corner to corner combining sets of words together.
I added some flowers, tickets and butterflies on the empty spots around the photos. They all come from ephemera pack. I also found some remaining flair button from “Unforgettable” collection so I used it too.
Edge of the layout seemed empty so I decided to embellish it with some flower clusters. I got few of them left in my ephemera pack. I cut them in halves to be able to glue them all around.
I finished the page with enamel dots, like usual. It seems busy and like a lot of work but it took me less than an hour to make it. Once I got the idea in my head of course. Because it lasted much longer in my head :)
That is all for today. Thank you for stopping by and see you in July. Summer is officially here so it’s time for some sunny projects :)
