This is 12 | Happy Days Collection | Michelle Stokes

Hey Hey! It’s Michelle back here today with a new layout share for you all using the Happy Days Collection. I was inspired by this months Floral Frenzy Challenge to create something with one of my most loved embellishments – Flowers, which reminded me of a layout I made a few years back. Lets take a peek shall we…

A layout full of colour and florals to celebrate this sweet kids 12th birthday back in 2022, when things were all sunshine and rainbows and we could get a smile out of her for a photo of 2 lol I used a bunch of florals from the Floral ephemera pack, some fussy cut mini florals from the A5 paper stack version of Lush Blooms and a handful of other fun ephemera embellishments to bring it all together.

I added the photos printed in black & white 3inch square size to some of the fun aqua Little Blossom paper layered with some of the brilliant blue floral Definitive paper

Here’s a look back at the original layout, full of florals in all shapes sizes and colours.

I replicated the same floral framing in both the top left and bottom right corners of the layout using a mix of flowers. These can be found in the Floral Ephemera pack and the A5 paper version of Lush Blooms. I mixed in some ephemera pieces, enamel dots, butterflies and accessory stickers using a mix of different adhesives for layering heights of dimension.

I added chipboard stars from the Title stickers pack from the collection and some mini puffy alphas to the journal spot on the bottom cluster to create 1 of 2 titles on the layout. Yep you read that right, 2 titles. Is that even a thing?

The larger title on the layout consists of words from the Chipboard Title Stickers pack, a banner cut from an ephemera piece and some accessory word stickers. The perfect combination for a mixed font title.

Once I had all the pieces adhered in place I splattered the entire floral clusters with gold ink, added some extra gold glitter paint dots to fill in some gaps and called it done.

Adventure Awaits | Great Escape Collection | Michelle Stokes

Hey Scrappy friends, it’s Michelle here today. I’ve got a brand new layout share for you all using the Great Escape Collection thats inspired by this months Challenge – Scrap about your adventures. I’ve taken a step back in time to when I travelled overseas with my Mum in 2008 and had a magical visit to Times Square in New York. Loved this trip of a lifetime.

As the photo was already quite busy I didn’t want to add too much to the background of the layout or overdo the embellishments, so I’ve kept the background ‘clean’ and only used fussy cut stars from the Star Gazing paper for the main focal points of the embellishment clusters.

I took this photo from the top of a ‘hop on, hop off’ bus as we were touring around the city. This was the first glimpse of the area and it was just so impressive. The noise, the people, the cars. Everything there in that moment was everything you read and see online about New York. Its was magical and hectic all in one.

I backed the photo using the rainbow stripe side of the Journey Paper and layered it with some foam sheet to pop it off the page. I knew I would be using the chipboard pieces at some point so I needed to match the depth of dimension they would create. I added fussy cut stars from the Star Gazing paper to the top right with the addition of the cute mini van ephemera piece

I added more of the Journey Paper to the layout, this time the green tree pattern along the bottom of the layout to act as a landing point for one of the clusters. I added machine stitching along the top edge once all the stars and stickers were in place

To the left of the photo I created a cluster of stars using different forms of adhesive for a layered effect. I did this with all three clusters within the visual triangle. I also added an extra piece of chipboard to the photo along with a sticker and journal tab tucked into the top

To create the title I’ve used the word Adventure from the Chipboard Stickers pack along with my beloved white alphas and some handwritten text for journalling. I love the mixed look this creates. Then lastly I added my usual splatter of gold ink to add interest to all the whitespace surrounding the clusters.

Wild, Fun & Free | Great Escape | Michelle Stokes

Hello Hello, it’s Michelle here with you today to share another creation using our NEW collection – Great Escape. I’ve tied this into our current Monthly Scrap–lifting Challenge to give you another example of  where your imagination can take you when lifting others creations.

Wild, Fun & Happy – all words easily used to describe this crazy doggo of ours. He keeps us entertained day in and day out, loves on us like no tomorrow, and drives his fur sister Daisy absolutely crazy.

I took inspiration from the absolutely amazing layout below, created by Josephine. For my creation I’ve used used a mix of hand cut and ephemera stars to create a similar look to the hearts in the original.

I hand cut all the larger stars from the pattern papers within the A5Paper stack. I used the larger of the stars within the Ephemera pack to trace around, then drew secondary lines around that to create a larger star. I then grouped 2 complimenting patterns together and sewed them together with some rough machine stitching and adhered to the white background using foam tape for dimension.

I added in ephemera stars, fussy cut stars from the A5 version of the Star Gazing paper and puffy stars from both the foam title pack and puffy stickers pack.

I printed the photos in 2.5×3.5inch size and layered them together using foam behind to pop them up over the tops of the spiky star points. There is so much going on within this layout in terms of dimension, but I love it. It really brings the layout to life.

I also added pops of ephemera pieces and accessory stickers into the star clusters to add even more excitement to the layout.

Lastly the title came together using words from the Foam Title Stickers pack and my trusty old tiny alphas from the Hello Lovely Collection from many many moons ago.. Wonder if anyone can twist Zoe’s arm to get these released again? I’m sure I’m not the only one who loves a little old school alpha action on a layout?

A few splatters of gold ink and I have one complete scrap-lifted layout ready to add to the collection of Pet scrappy layouts.

Christmas Gift | Heart & Home Collection | Michelle Stokes

Hey Everyone, it’s Michelle back here today. I hope that you’ve all had a super fun, relaxing and loving time over the past few weeks and are ready to get back into crafting, just like I am. Todays crafty share is a super quick way to pretty up a printed gift voucher, ready for passing on to loved ones for any occasion. I’ve made a few in the last couple of years as I like adding a personal touch to our gifts, with this one made from the Heart & Home collection.

I started by printing the voucher on some A4 paper, then trimmed it down to fit onto a 12x9inch piece of pattern paper. For this I chose the rainbow stripe paper (HARVEST) as it gave a festive feel.  I adhered the voucher lightly to the pattern paper and added machine stitching to keep it in place. This meant that the voucher can be torn off the backing paper when its needed.

I folded the pieces together to create an ‘envelope’ and wrapped a second smaller piece of pattern paper (GOLDEN FIELDS) around this to hold it all closed. This smaller piece was perfect to layer up embellishments to make it look pretty.

I wrapped some plain twine around once and attached some Christmas tags that I had on the table from wrapping presents, and combined these with a large floral piece cut from the BOUNTIFUL paper, a sticker from the Accessory sticker sheet, mini alphas from many many years back and a sweet little puffy green heart.

It was a very well received gift, and I can’t wait to hear what the venue says to the recipients about this one.

Favourites of 2023 | Michelle Stokes

Hey Crafty friends, its Michelle here today with a look back at my favourite layouts created for Cocoa Vanilla Studio this past year. I think in total I’ve made 30+ creations using the wonderful collections of CVS this year, so it was a little tricky to narrow it down to just a few favourites, but here we go..

Lets begin with this magical village creation from March using These Days Collection
I loved creating the rows of houses to build a village. All fussy cut from the Neighbourhood paper. SO much fun!

Next up was this beauty, created back in February  using the Sunkissed Collection and inspired by that months Mood Board Challenge. The bright colours of this collection are still by far my most favourite of all time.

Another rainbow assortment of patterns and colour created in June using the Happy Days Collection. Love me some colour blocking (if thats what you call it) on a layout. Love how this all came together in one magical colour explosion

Lastly one of my more recent layouts in November using the Heart & Home Collection and our sweet fur babies. Another rainbow assortment of patterns and colour, but a little less in your face. The perfect mix of pattern and florals with a mixed font title to finish it off.

Fun Days | Happy Days Collection | Kellie Moore

Hi Everyone, welcome back to the Cocoa Vanilla blog, it’s Kel here today to share a page using the Happy Days collection with you. I LOVE the bright colours of this collection, they make me so happy.

For todays layout I decided to pull out some watercolours and create my own background..here is my page…

I created a diamond type shape with the watercolour in a magenta colour found in the collection for the base of my photo and added some splatters in yellow.

For my photo I added some paper layers from the a5 paper stack as well as some black cardstock to help my photo pop. Next I created a cluster above my photo creating a tag, a frame from the Ephemera pack and a sticker from the Accessory Sticker sheet.

I felt that the cluster needed something else so I cut a sun out from the ‘Feel Good’ paper and added some hand stitched rays..

Before sticking my photo down I added some quaze to add texture to the layout..

I pulled out the Chipboard Titles for my page title and placed them directly under my photo.. and added a rainbow from the Ephemera pack underneath..

My finishing touches was to add some stamping around the page, I love the black contrast with the watercolour..

Family | Heart & Home Collection | Michelle Stokes

Hello Hello! It’s Michelle back today with another fun layout share using out beautiful Heart & Home Collection. I went with a rainbow assortment of pattern paper strips and some sweet family snaps. Kinda running low on photos to share these days, but I’m hoping the next few months of family celebrations will bring some fresh new snaps.

Now I’ll warn you, this post is very heavy in the photos, just not so much in the words. But sit back, relax with a drink and check out my newest creation..

I used almost all of the full colour pattern papers from the collection with a mix of multi colour papers and the typewriter text. I cut 2 strips from each piece that are roughly 1 inch wide, and left them all at different lengths to overlap at random heights in a blended colour order across the white background. I had intentions of sewing through the strips, but when creating late at night I tend to go off track from where I start.

Next up I gathered a few recent family snaps and printed them out in 2×2 and 2×2.5 inch size to back the cute frames from the ephemera pack and the cut apart frame from the GATHER paper. I used pieces of foam between the frame and the photo to make them look a little more realistic then adhered across the layout using more foam for dimension.

I layered in different forms of embellishments around the frames to add extra pops of interest, using a good mix of ephemera, fussy cut pieces, enamel shapes and accessory stickers

I added the Happy List from the GATHER paper which is perfect for adding our family list of loves at this present time. We certainly love our share of naughty foods, long car rides around our greater region of beaches and lots and lots of laughter

I added a loose string across the tops of the frames to make them look like they are strung across the layout. Mixing fibres like these is a good way to add a little texture to the layout.

Super cute photo of Leila and the doggo’s. No way they would sit this still ever again lol this must have been a fluke

I added the title to the bottom of the layout using the word FAMILY from the Ephemera pack along with the banner strip underneath. I used foam under these to pop them off the page giving more dimension to the bottom of the layout. Then I added the word sentiments from the accessory sticker sheet that work perfectly together in the area above the title.

Lastly I added a splattering of gold ink, some gold glittery splotches that dry like enamel dots, some tiny little fussy cut florals and then called it complete.

So many layers with all these strips gives so much texture to the layout which is a tick in my book.

Celebrate You | Heart & Home Collection | Michelle Stokes

Hello Scrappy Friends! It’s Michelle back here with some more inspiration to share with you all. I’ve made another layout using the beautiful Heart & Home collection, with yet another bunch of fussy cut florals, perfect for documenting some happy snaps from my Mums recent 70th birthday Celebration.

I had a few photos I wanted to add to this layout so I created a couple of strips in the pic collage app on my phone using the freestyle layout option. I printed them out on a 4×6 size piece of photo paper then trimmed to size. I added both strips to a piece of green print paper from the A5 paper stack and sat them to the side so I could create the floral clusters.

First cluster is up the top right of the layout using pretty florals from both the 12×12 BOUNTIFUL paper, ephemera pieces and the specialty printed vellum. I layered all pieces individually with foam tape for dimension, and glued the tiny flowers on using tacky glue.

I added some accessory stickers to the mix along with mini puffy alphas for a mini title. They really are a cute addition to any layout.

I’ve used more florals from the BOUNTIFUL paper in the larger cluster on the bottom left of the layout with the same mix of ephemera, stickers and vellum to complete the layers. Once I felt this cluster had enough bits n bobs I added the photo strips over the right side using additional foam pieces to prop them up

I created the larger title using GOLD FOIL title words and some handwritten journalling underneath. I haven’t added this simple touch to many of my layouts recently, but when I have its really felt complete.

Lastly I added a sprinkling of gold ink around the layout with a few puffy dots and hearts then called it a day. Here’s a final look at the entire layout below..

Family Day Out | Happy Days Collection | Michelle Stokes

Hey Scrappy friends! It’s Michelle here today with a new layout share for you all. I think this might be the last I share with the amazing Happy Days Collection for a little while as I just received a fresh box of the NEW collection Heart & Home and oh my is it stunning. But first, lets take a walk through this fun creation.

We recently had a family celebration of 50 years marriage for my partners parents, and what better way to celebrate than a family day out on a steam train ride. The kids (both young and old) all had the best fun hanging their heads out the windows as we rolled along the seaside

I had a couple of photos that I wanted to use to document this special occasion, so I thought a “rough” grid design would work for the base with lots of layers and different sized squares of pattern papers. I used a mix of both 12×12 and A5 pattern papers from the collection and cut them into 4×4, 3×3 & 2×2 inch size pieces to layer together. I added machine stitching around the edges for extra detail and left the strings loose for extra texture on the page.

I grouped photos together and layered one over the top of the other to continue the layered effect I was going for with the pattern paper

I added pieces of ephemera, accessory word stickers, chipboard pieces and puffy stickers/heart to the photo stacks to create interest in these areas

I created my usual floral clusters diagonally across from each other by fussy cutting florals from both 12×12 & A5 sizes of the LUSH BLOOMS paper then grouping them together with cut apart pieces from the FEEL GOOD paper

To create the title I’ve mixed letters from the CHIPBOARD TITLES pack to create my own words, and added a words strip from the FEEL GOOD paper above.

Lastly I added a few splatters of gold ink and some tiny puffy stickers in both hearts and dots to finish off the layout

I’m really happy with how quickly it all came together, with the fussy cutting being the most time consuming process of it all.

Super Awesome | Happy Days | Niki Rowland

Hi everyone! This is Niki (@nikiclairecreates) and I’m so happy to be back with another layout and process video using Happy Days. After my Guest Designs over the past two months, I was delighted to be invited to join the team on a permanent basis! Thank you so much to Zoe & Cocoa Vanilla Studio for having me!

For today’s layout I decided to use THAT rainbow paper – you know the one, it’s called Rainbow Bright and has a big beautiful rainbow on it!

I cut all the arcs apart, distressed the edges of all, then stuck them back together, overlapping a little, onto a piece of white card. They overlapped the right edge of the cardstock background quite a bit so I just chopped off the excess. I then added machine stitching around each of the arcs.

I added my photo to the left side of the page. I wanted to mount it on yellow paper but didn’t have any left! So I used a piece of the A5 Paper Stack that I had a small piece of and just about managed to mount two sides of the photo!

I added some clusters to the top and bottom of the layout. I included two fussy cut clouds, that I had leftover from when I made a mini album. I also added Die Cut Ephemera, and Floral Ephemera to these clusters and Accessory Stickers too.

For my title I used ‘super’ fussy cut from the Definitive paper and the word Awesome from the Chipboard Phrases. I also added a sub-title ‘best ever’ also fussy cut from the Definitive paper.

I finished off by handwriting my journaling around the yellow arc, and adding a few chipboard hearts and puffy hearts to the layout! I have created a process video for this layout, which can be watched below, I hope you enjoy it.
