Hello CVS friends, today I have a layout to share using a mix of the older collections, Wild at Heart, Midnight , Unforgettable and Make a Wish collections.Instead of my go to white cardstock I used the beautiful and subtle grey white washed wood grain paper Artisan. I wanted a real pop of colour so used the bright pink paper Hooray. I have used a large scallop hand punch to create a border each side of the Wild at Heart Vellum sheet which is 4 x12 inches. I added machine stitching to each side of the pink border strips.I added my photo off centre with foam tape and finished off with a bow from Unforgettable collection.I have not matted my photo knowing I was going to be adding layered flowers which would draw the eye to the photo.I have used two different cut files from the Silhouette Design store to create my layered flowers but for those who do not have a cutting machine use a hand punch, punching at least 3 and then layer with foam tape. If you want to recreate these centres, they are super easy! Cut a 12 inch strip at 1/2 an inch. fringe cut with a pair of scissors and then roll as you would any rolled flowers. Once the glue has dried then push outwards all the way around, then glue to the centre of your flowers. I have used Inky Depths paper from the Midnight collection to create my flowers. You will see that I then tucked in-between the flowers fussy cut butterflies, some die cut leaves and a sentiment from the accessory stickers.I then created my title using Happiness die cut titles. I added some more fussy cut butterflies around my title adding some Unforgettable enamel dots.I love using word and phrase sentiments from the Accessory Stickers sheets and you can see I added some more under my photo and under my large title. And there you have it, I love how this turned out! A great colour palette even though I have used several different collections. Don’t be put off because of the flowers on this layout, you can make. beautiful one’s too, time to blow the dust off those punches!
Thank you for stopping by today and feel free to leave any questions you may have on this layout in the comments. See you soon, stay safe and well!
Hey Creative friends, Gwen here today with some more scrapbook inspiration using the new ‘Legendary’ collection. This month for my shares I’ve been featuring my sister and her pooch as it’s her birthday month. I’m also sharing today as part of our feature using the recently released ‘Legendary’ cut files created by CUT to YOU which I’ll talk more about below.
For this page, I started with the ‘Off Beat’ pattern paper as I really wanted to add some colour and a mixed media/more grungy feel for this page. Anyone who knows me, knows I’m not a mixed media gal so I just love that Zoe has done all of the work for me and I can still enjoy this look without getting my hands dirty! I’ve also cut out several of the star trios from the new ‘Legendary’ cut files set. These cut files are part of the set that was designed by CUT to YOU for the Legendary collection. They are available for FREE download here. If you don’t have a cutting machine, CUT to YOU offers a cutting service and ships worldwide. I’ve resized the star pieces so that they are around 14cm long and cut out seven of them.
I’ve then pulled the ‘Outdoors Type’ pattern paper and the ‘All-Star’ pattern paper to back my stars with. I’ve just alternated each set in a different colour… for my page, I’m going to be working with Blue, Green and Grey tones.
Next up, I’ve mounted my photo with a scrap piece of pattern paper (Brave Heart) I had kicking around from a previous project. This paper is blue in tone and also has a mixed media feel so fits with my design super well.
For the page design, I’ve simply lined up my star rows, alternating the colours and their start/end points across my page. I’ve then added my photo slightly to the right and slightly lower on my page to allow room for my title. My title is from the ‘Die Cut Titles’ pack, so versatile and such a bargain with so many title options to choose from.
With my background cut file, photo and title in place, it was now time to think about embellishing. In keeping with the stars in the cut file, I’ve pulled out the star shapes from the Die Cut Ephemera pack. I’ve layered these around and under my photo to help draw the eye to it. I’ve also added in here the cute bear icon from the ‘Die Cut Ephemera’ pack and the moon shape. For dimension, these have been added with foam tape.
I’ve finished the page off by adding a couple of banner pieces also from the ‘Die Cut Ephemera’ pack, a Flair button from the ‘Flairs pack’, a couple of sentiments from the ‘Accessory Stickers Sheet’ and some Enamel dots and called it done. I think this is a super fun page and love that ‘messy’ look I achieved without the need to do any mixed media myself! I hope you enjoyed seeing my process for this one, it was really fun to make.
Hey y’all! Laura Alberts back again with a sweet layout of my grandmother using the stunning Happiness Collection. I started with a cut file from Hip Kit and filled it with papers from the Happiness 6×8 paper pad, then added it to this gorgeous teal background on the Good Vibes patterned paper. Using floral swags from the ephemera pack on the left and bottom of the photo and adding a cut-a-part piece from the Little Things patterned paper to add my journaling.
The larger butterflies are fussy cut from a cut-a-part sheet and the smaller butterflies are all fussy cut from the Bright & Beautiful patterned paper. I love the simple elegance trenbolone these add to this layout, it’s amazing the mileage you can get from patterned paper if you’re willing to fussy cut out the beautiful icons! I thought these lovely butterflies were perfect for a memorial page honoring my grandmother’s amazing life.
To finish this layout off, I added clear heart stickers around the clusters and the arrows by the die-cut title. Then, a little flourish with Nuvo drops in gold and white, as well as gold splatter! I love the way the tiny details like butterfly trails give this layout such movement and interest.
I hope this layout inspires you to try adding some extra tiny details to your layouts! If you’d like to see this layout created, I have a process video below! Have a wonderful and creative day!
Hello!! Its Melissa here and I’m so happy to be back with you sharing another layout that I made with the amazing Legendary collection. For this layout I decided to work with the stunning Explorer paper (shown below), specifically the B side with the stunning circular pattern.
I always knew that I wanted to hand stitch this paper, but I wasn’t sure exactly how. When I looked at the paper I could see a snowflake, which was perfect for scrapbooking two chairlift selfies that I took on Coronet Peak Ski Field (here in Queenstown, New Zealand) last Winter of my daughter Azaria and I.
I started making this layout by piercing holes along the lines of the snowflake, back stitching in white embroidery thread (full 6 strands), and then fussy cutting it out. To be honest I wasn’t sure how it was going to look, because the entire pattern with only some of it stitched didn’t look like a snowflake until I cut it away from the rest of the paper. I was pleasantly surprised that it worked, and Azaria was very excited, as she had helped me find the lines of the snowflake!
I’ve been very inspired by the other Design Team ladies that use mixed media, specifically Sue, Tazhiana and Danni, all of whom I watched create live during our International Scrapbook Day Celebration. For my layout I applied clear gesso to white card stock, and then used the packing technique with blue media, and then added some splatters in gold and white. I love how this media brings the wintry feel of my layout to life! The photo below also shows a peek of my torn border that I placed on the bottom of my layout to look like mountains. The paper is one of my favourite cut apart patterns from the B side of Total Legend!
The Legendary collection has Die Cut Titles, and I went through the pack to find the perfect title for my layout. “Hello Adventure” was perfect to describe the many afternoons my daughter and I spent skiing (her) and snowboarding (I) together. Even though Legendary is a guy collection, it works so well for documenting outdoor memories. I also had to add some whimsy with several of the adorable Clear Stickers.
I kept my embellishment to a minimum because I wanted the focus to be on the snowflake, but I did find the perfect phrase sticker and “Lets Go” sticker from the Accessory Stickers. The two papers that I used to back my photos are Epic Tales and Total Legend (the A side). I added texture to these papers by tearing the bottom edge and distressing the other three edges.
Hi everyone! It’s Sue Plumb here to share my latest project with you. Today I am sharing a layout I created last weekend as part of the Cocoa Vanilla International Scrapbook Day celebration event. It was such an amazing weekend – full of fun, friendship, and of course, inspiration! I am so proud of our team and all the work they put into the event, and to hear how much everyone who took part enjoyed it, really made it all worthwhile.
So the layout I am sharing here was designed for Gwen’s “Grab 5” challenge where we had to include – a chipboard element; a die cut title; a flair button; enamel dots; and something fussy cut. I decided to document this fabulous photo of my daughter being hit with holi powder that was taken by a friend of mine who is a photographer. And what better to pair a splash of colour with, than the beautiful ‘Bohemian Dream’ collection?
Given the “arty” theme of this photograph, I decided the best approach would be to have some arty fun whilst I created it. I started with a sheet of white cardstock that I cut down to measure 11×11″ with the intention of mounting it on patterned paper later on. I pulled out my gelatos (if you don’t have gelatos you can substitute any sort of water soluble pastel or art crayon). I chose some colours that would match with the palette of the collection, and used them to create a very simple “scribbled” background in a rough square shape. I then used my fingertip and a baby wipe to blend the colours out.
With my background work complete, I then turned my attention to creating some layers for behind my photo. I gathered some scraps of the Gypsy Heart and Dreamer papers and added them behind my photo, tucking in a yellow paper doily from my stash as well. I also added a tag that I cut and the you brighten my world tag sticker from the Accessory Sticker sheet, both tied with twine.
For the fussy cut element of my page, I couldn’t go past using the stunning floral print from the collection – Abundant. I cut three pieces from the paper, tucking each of them under the edges of my photo to form a triangle around it. I also added the live a colourful life sticker along the bottom edge of the photo.
By now I needed to tick off a few other items from my criteria list, as I only had one in place so far. I grabbed a flair button from the Flair Button pack, adding it on top of the floral cluster to the left of photo. The next element I wanted to add was the chipboard element, so I chose a few pieces from the coordinating Chipboard Accent Sticker sheet – a couple of small hearts and the beautiful pink moth.
For my title, I knew exactly what I wanted it to say, so I grabbed the ‘Happiness’ Die Cut Titles pack and chose the words life is beautiful. To complete my title I fussy cut a mess from one of the cards on the cut apart Boho Bitspaper, then mounted all the words down along the right side of my photo.
I finished off my page with a scattering of sweet enamel shapes (hearts) and a splattering of some navy mist. I was so happy with how this pretty page turned out!
If you haven’t joined the INSD group yet, you can find it on Facebook HERE. There are still a few days left to enter the challenges, plus there is also a free online class from Zoe you can access (including a printable digital kit); process, live scrap and instructional videos from different members of the team; and plenty of inspiration as well, of course.
Thanks so much for stopping by today so I cold share this with you. Until next time, happy scrapping!
Hi Cocoa Vanilla fans! Today I am sharing a simple layout with a big impact featuring lots of patterned papers from the stunning Legendary collection! I was inspired to make a very organic nature-themed layout because this photo of my son and I was taken in the Australian bush, and you can see the trees in the background.
I began by freehand cutting some leaf shapes from Outdoors Type and Epic Tales patterned papers, making sure to vary the size and shape. I wasn’t too careful about making these neat; people really don’t notice any flaws in the finished layout. I wanted to add some interesting details to the leaves, so I hand stitched some veins on the larger ones with white thread and used white gel pen for faux stitching on others.
I decided to use this sweet cutfile as the main part of my title, so I went ahead and backed the letters with blue and grey from Epic Tales, Offbeat and All Star papers. To finish off my title I took the word ‘BOYS’ from the Die Cut Titles and trimmed off the ‘S’ with my scissors. Remember if the words aren’t quite what you need, it is so easy to alter them slightly! I kept my photo mats simple with a plain white followed by the light blue from Total Legend paper.
I absolutely adore the woodgrain in Outdoors Type paper, so I decide to use that as a background. Because it is a dark tone, white accents look very striking in contrast, so I added some white modelling paste thought a quilted stencil and plenty of splatters with my white and gold inks. This kind of mixed media is simple to do but makes a huge impact!
I added some dimensional foam to my photo and title then arranged my leaves in clusters around them. I made sure to vary the placement of the green and white leaves to break up the colour and add more dimension. For a finishing touch I added three clusters of light blue, grey and white Enamel Dots and three tiny words stickers from the Accessory Stickers. I can’t help but put enamel dots and tiny word stickers on almost all my layouts; it just doesn’t feel finished without them!
I included a couple of simple lines of journaling and the date in white pen below my title. I just adore this layout – it was really quite simple and didn’t take too long at all, but it looks so lovely all finished. I’m so happy with it! There is a process video linked below if you would like to watch it all come together. Happy scrapping!
Hi everyone! It’s Sue Plumb here to share my latest design team project with you. For this layout I was tasked with incorporating the theme of “sewing”, which gave me a great excuse to dust off my sewing machine and put it to good use. I decided to use the ‘Legendary’ collection for my page and pair it with a series of photos of my boys and hubby having some fun with a swing at the park.
I started with a sheet of white cardstock that I cut down to measure 11×11″, and then mounted it against the fabulous rainbow stripe of the Wild One paper. I chose this paper as my base as I really wanted to coordinate with all the colours that were present in my photos. It also opened up a broad colour scheme for the papers I was going to use on my page.
For my design I knew I wanted something fun with lots of colour and a feeling of movement to echo the action in the photos, so I decided to create a large banner. Once I had decided where my photos were going to sit on the page, it was simply a matter of cutting an assortment of different sized paper pieces for the sections of the banner. (The papers I used included All Star; Total Legend; Wild One; Offbeat; and Explorer.) I then used a small amount of glue to tack the pieces lightly in place before I used my sewing machine to stitch down the middle of a few of them.
I then tacked the photos lightly in place before adding several lines of stitching back and forth across the top to represent the string of the banner and hold them firmly in place. (I deliberately left all the loose threads hanging intact, as they added to the texture of the page.) I then went back and bent up the tails of the banner pieces, as well as the bottom edges of my photos so they would look as though they were blowing in the breeze. Now it was time for some embellishments!
I started by tucking the large circular frame / mandala piece from the Die Cut Ephemera pack in underneath the middle photo, then added a large star over the top (which I also bent up from the page). I chose the words super and silly from the Die Cut Titles pack and tacked them along the top of my photos. I then took to it with my sewing machine again, and added some lines of stitching over the top, before I added the word fun from the Clear Stickers pack underneath.
In amongst the banner pieces, I tucked in a couple of tickets and a small flag from the Die Cut Ephemera pack; then I added a couple of phrases stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet along the bottom of the left photo. From the Clear Sticker set, I added two chevrons on either side of my photos to indicate a “swinging” motion and to help draw the viewer’s eye through.
At the top of my page I added some crazy, silly stitching in each of the top corners, then added a date label from the Accessory Sticker sheet to the right hand side. I finished off by adding a few paint splat Clear Stickers, and then a few splatters of black ink and I was done!
This was a really fun page to put together, (especially doing all that random wild sewing!) and I am really happy with the result. If you have a sewing machine but you aren’t confident sewing on a layout, then this type of project might be right for you because perfection is not necessary.
Thanks so much for stopping by today so I could share this with you. Until next time, happy scrapping!
Hello and Happy Easter Monday. Its Melissa here! I hope you had a lovely Easter with your loved ones wherever you are in the world. I’m so excited to be working with the amazing Legendary collection, and there was a lot of excitement (from my kids and I) when the courier came to our door!
I decided to challenge myself to scrap an Easter photo with this rad collection, with an extra twist of using a floral cut file ,and to use it to document my son Sam. The cut file is from Confessions of a Paper Addict.
The first thing I did was to pull all of the papers that I thought would work for this cut file, bearing in mind that it has a lot of florals. Often I find that the B-sides are best for backing smaller details on cut files. Cut part sheets are also great for finding extra patterns and colours.
The title word said “Brothers”, but as I only have one son I altered it by cutting off the “s” to make it work for this photo of Sam. The story behind this photo is that although he was a big 12 year old last Easter, he still joined in the Easter hunt and even posed for this photo for the sake of his youngest sisters. If you have kids that are nearly teenagers you’ll know what I mean!!
I love using a patterned paper for a background, and this gorgeous small repeating triangle was perfect. I added some small blue and yellow splatters for some subtle detail. I really wanted the feature of may layout to be the photo and the cut file, so I kept embellishment to a minimum. I added some of the clear stickers to help draw the eye in, and my final touch was to use blue drops on the two flowers that were too small to back with patterned paper.
I hope you enjoyed my Easter layout. Thanks for looking, and I’ll be back later this month.
Hi everyone! It’s Sue Plumb here to share my latest design team project with you featuring the awesome new ‘Legendary’ collection. For this layout I decided to document a photo of my three kids doing what they do best – being weirdos! (I wouldn’t have them any other way.) I also decided to work with a very limited colour palette – focusing on the black / blue / grey tones from the collection, as I thought it would work well with my black and white photo.
I began by creating a mixed media background on a sheet of white cardstock, using two blue inks to add some subtle colour to my page. I also added some stamping using black ink and a stamp with tiny stars. Once the background was completely dry I then moved on to adding some papery layers.
I first cut a piece of the star print pattern from the Offbeat paper into a vertical banner shape to act as the anchor point for my layers. Next, I created a mat for my photo using a piece of the Explorer paper and placed it on top of the banner with my photo stuck on top. I then added a couple of horizontal strips that I cut from the Explorer and Total Legend papers and tucked them in behind.
Above my photo I added some extra pieces of paper tucked in behind the top of the banner which were also cut from the Total Legend paper. I also added the circular piece that I fussy cut from the centre of the mandala in the middle of the Explorer paper.
I also added two words from the Die Cut Titles pack to form my title Hey Legends (I actually cut the “s” from another word to make the word Legends) and popped them up using some foam tape.
To the right of my photo I created a small cluster using the geo deer from the Die Cut Ephemera pack, with a small star on top (again using foam tape for dimension). Along the bottom edge of my photo I added the stay weird stay wonderful quote from the Epic Tales paper, with the go your own way quote from the Accessory Sticker sheet below it.
To finish off, I added some small black chevrons to the left of my photo from the Clear Sticker sheet; then a good scattering of stars from the Die Cut Ephemera pack. I am so happy with how this one came together and I absolutely love the colour combo of all those cool tones.
That’s all from me today – until next time, happy scrapping!
Hello CVS Friends. It’s Anna here with another project made with brand new “Legendary” collection. This line is so easy to work with and you have to believe me as I am not used to using masculine lines. I made this page in about 30 minutes which is almost a record for me. “Legendary” is a very colorful collection with almost all colors from the rainbow in it. However this time I decided to focus on yellow, orange and blue. I took those colors from the picture of my cute nephew.
I started with white background and some colorful splatters made with mists. It’s such an easy and fast way to add some unique touch to your pages. Second step was to pick three patterned papers and cut them into pieces. I also added decorative edge made with border puncher. If don’t have any, you can just tear off the edge of paper to add a little bit of mess.
Next step was to add photos over the layered papers and some title made with amazing product – Die cut titles. You have so many words to choose from and they are designed the way, you can also make longer phrases.
I love adding simple shapes to my projects and “Legendary” collection has great set of stars in various sizes and colors. I choose three bigger ones from Ephemera pack to create a visual triangle. I also added small stars from Clear stickers set and added them here and there.
I finished my page with few ephemera pieces, mostly tags and tickets, and few enamel dots. I am so happy how it all turned out. Tt will be a perfect addition to the gift for upcoming birthday of this little super hero.
I hope I inspired you to reach for this super cool collection. Zoe is a master of masculine collections! Thank you for stopping by and stay safe and healthy my Friends.
