Hey y’all! Laura back again with a bright and cheerful layout using the stunning Happiness collection! I am completely enamored with the pairing of bright, bold colors with deep, dark neutrals like navy. This is one of those collections that makes me smile every single time I pull it out! Perfect for some fun in the sun, backyard playground photos.
For this background, I used a set of metal heart dies to create these fantastic heart shaped frames. I backed them with this stunning watercolor stripe patterned paper and layered them behind my photos in a vertical column. My photos are interspersed with stunning floral ephemera pieces, cut apart labels and words, as well as fussy cut shapes.
One of the highlights to this layout were these stunning tassels from the ephemera pack! Such a fun detail to hang from the heart-shaped frames. With a bit of Nuvo for a touch of gold detailing and gold ink spray to finish it off, this layout was done!
I hope this layout inspires you to dig out your older stash to have a play! Those collections from the past deserve some love too! To see how “Sweet” came together, check out my process video below:
Mandy here today for Throwback Thursday! I decided to dig into my stash and create a layout using the beautiful These Dayscollection. It was perfect for documenting these photos of my eldest daughter on her first day of uni!
I started my layout off with a sheet of the gorgeous Home Grown floral paper. Using a punch, I created a decorative border around the paper and then matted the patterned paper on a sheet of white cardstock. Next I trimmed down a sheet of the orange Wall of Famepaper to 9 inches square and layered that over the floral paper. I then matted my photos using the reverse side of the Home Grown paper and adhered them towards the top of the Wall of Fame patterned paper. So that the photos didn’t look like they were just floating, I gave them a ‘shelf’ to sit on by adding a strip of the woodgrain Pretty Posies paper underneath the photos. I also added a decorative element to this strip by punching a strip of leaves from the green Family Ties paper and adhering that across the woodgrain strip.
Using embellishments from both the Die Cut Ephemera and the Floral Ephemera packs, I created an embellishment cluster to the right of the photos. I tried to be intentional when selecting my embellishments for this page, choosing to use icons such as a typewriter and a stack of books, which tied in nicely with the theme of the layout.
I created another embellishment cluster in the bottom left hand corner of the layout, using more items from the Die Cut Ephemera pack. I chose the mug because my daughter loves to drink tea and often has a cuppa on the go while she’s doing uni work. I also added some typed journalling underneath this embellishment cluster.
To complete the visual triangle, I added a some more embellishing in the top left hand corner. I kept it fairly simple by just adding a banner and a tab as the page was already quite busy. The three embellishment clusters on the layout help to draw the viewer’s eye around the page.
For my title, I decided on using the beautiful Foam Title Stickers. However, as these photos were of a significant day, I didn’t necessarily want a generic title for this layout, so I decided to alter some of the letters to create the specific title that I wanted. The word ‘Life’ was already one of the words from the sticker pack, however to create the word ‘Uni’, I had to get a bit creative. I used the ‘U’ from the word ‘You’; the ‘N’ and the ‘I’ were both altered from other letters in the word ‘Home’. Don’t be afraid to alter embellishments to suit your layout. There’s no rules to say that you have to use them as is!
I hope that you enjoyed taking a look at my layout and maybe you’ve been inspired to create with the These Days collections as well. If you don’t already have this beautiful collection in your stash, you might find some items still available in the Cocoa Vanilla store.
Hello everyone. It’s Anna here with my newest layout. As I am waiting impatiently to dive into brand new and recently released new line called “Happy days”, I pulled out some older but still pretty collection from my stash called “These days”. If you do not have it yet, there are still plenty of elements available in CVS store and they have some crazy awesome prizes! So go quickly and grab it while you still can.
I scrapbooked picture I took the same day (totally fresh from the oven!) of my two girls getting ready for a birthday party. They are recently in the phase they both like dark (preferably black) colors so this mama is missing all the pink and pastel photos so much. That’s why using “These days” with it’s muted colors was a great choice.
I started with cutting out big letters from a word PARTY with my digital die cutting machine using “Family ties” paper. This colorful pattern has all the colors present in this collection. I arranged my letters on the white cardstock and used my pencil to gently sketch an outlines of them.
Next step was chosing five different colors of Distress Inks and blending them under each letter stepping out ot the lines a little bit, to create sort of colorful shadow. The final result is very subtle, exaclty how I intended it to be. I still have plenty of flowers in my Floral Ephemera pack, so I picked a few adding them color on color (matching the inky shadow witht the flowers). Before I started glueing them down, I added a layer of foam tape under each letter for more dimension.
I love all the papers with elements that can be fussy cut from them, like flowers or butterflies. I always buy more than one paper and I can make myself plenty of extra ephemera pieces. It can strech your collection so much more. This was the case with beautiful “Take flight” paper filled with butterflies. I cut out few of them and added them on top of the letters. I also reached for Ephemera Pack and found more matching elements to tuck under the letters.
With my title almost done, it was time to finally add my photo. I had a perfect spot in the bottom left corner. Before glueing it down, I backed the picture with cute pattern paper with hearts called “Good life”. All I had to do was to add some smalled puffy stickers, clear stickers and 6*12 stickers here and there. I also finished my title adding word “time” using super cute puffy alpha stickers.
And voila! The page is done. Another memory scrapbooked! That is all for today. Don’t forget about the great discount on “These days” collection, that is waiting for you in CVS Shop! I am sure it’s not the last time I am reaching for this amazing line.
Hello Paperlovers, So happy to see you on the Cocoa Vanilla blog today! I chose the amazing collection “These Days” designed by of course Coco Vanilla Studio. I absolutely love the beautiful colors in this collection that fit perfectly to create a beach themed layout. With this blog I want to take you through my creative process…..
I started with a blank white cardstock sheet and took inspiration from cardmakers. Instead of one decorated circle, I place four in a grid pattern on my white cardstock sheet.I choose several pattern papers and cut out three circles. Then I cut out three circle edges. I add a light blue sewing stitch to these circle edges. I also provide the beach picture with a light blue sewing stitch.
I placed the circle edges with 3D tape on top of the pattern circles. This way I created more dimension and can slide the flower die-cuts between the layers much easier.
I love creating different layers with so many beautiful and different embellishments from this amazing collection. I choose different floral die-cuts, butterflies cut from patterned paper, wooden buttons, little cute gold colored heart and different word stickers. I absolutely love how the differents clusters turned out.
For the title “Happy Days” I used a shape die-cut along with the mini puffy alphabet. See the little title cluster on the photo. For a real beach vibe, I made a view white splatters with gesso. I mixed gesso with a little bit of water and I used a water color brush to splatter. I also made some light pink splatters using the Distress Oxide color “Saltwater taffy” I hope I was able to inspire you with this scrapbook layout and hope to see you on the blog next time. I wish you a happy and creative day.  XoXo, Jo
It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new layout created using the awesome No Limits collection!
I haven’t created a boy layout for a while and I have lots of the awesome No Limits collection! I grabbed a sweet black and white photo of my youngest son and got to work creating!
I chose the awesome Spark paper for my main background, trimmed this piece down to measure 11′ x 11′ inches and then adhered it to the ‘B’ side of the Latitude paper
I then bent the edges up to create some texture and shadows on my page. I decided on a round design for this layout and took a dinner plate and pencil and lightly traced a circle with the dinner plate. I knew I wanted to add lots of the ephemera around the outside edge. This is a great way to use up lots of leftovers or little bits and pieces you may have laying around and don’t really know what to do with!
Before adding all of the ephemera and embellishments around the circle I wanted to get my photo in its place, as it is a large element and the main focal point of my page, this is important to me to get this part right. I layered one of the 3′ x 4′ pocket cards under the photo and adhered it to the right hand side of the page using craft foam. I did also cut in half one of the round frame die-cuts and tucked a piece in the top and bottom of my photo. For my title, I adhered another of the cool pocket cards with the words Fun Fun Fun! I also layered one of the phrase stickers from the accessory sticker sheet on top.
My favourite part when I create a layout is the embellishing! What’s yours?
Once my photo and title were added it was time to add all the embellishments around the drawn circle. I used a mixture of ephemera, chipboard, wood epoxy buttons, puffy stickers and accessory stickers. I adhered them all down around the circle using different types of adhesives. The chipboard I used a wet glue (even though these have their own adhesive, I like to add more as extra), the ephemera I used double sided tape and foam tape to give different dimension heights. I was careful to place similar colour elements away from each other, this helps creating a visual triangle on my page.
It was so fun to arrange all the elements around the circle, I placed larger embellishments first and then added smaller ones in between. To the right of my photo I stamped the date stamp using black ink and my date stamp. Lastly I sprinkled some black mist to finish my layout.
It’s Sophie with you today with a new layout to share!
I use the beautiful Unforgettable collection this time. I wanted to highlight a yummy dessert that my sweet Sabrina baked and was so proud of!
I started with a thick white cardstock and used three colors from @Shimmerzpaints to create a little mixed media background.
I cut two pieces of the Sprightly paper and placed them horizontally on the top and bottom of the page. I did a zigzag stitch at their edge.
I centered my photo and mounted it on tissue paper and foam adhesive. I decorated in little clusters of embellishments around my photo and used the Foam Title Stickers – my favorites amongst all! – to create my title.
I scattered a few butterflies, handwrote my journaling directly on my background and stamped the date.
Here are more close-ups:
I am so happy with the result! I only had a few elements from that amazing collection left and tended to hoard them…! I am glad that I used them on this project!
Mandy here with you today to share a new layout using one of my all-time favourite collections, Daydream! I adore the pretty colours and sweet florals in this collection and I can’t help coming back to it time and again. The photo that I chose for this layout is one of my Mum and youngest daughter, taken recently when we enjoyed a fun girls day out, op shopping and lunching!
The gorgeous wreath on the Daisy Days paper is one of my favourites, and it was the perfect way to showcase a special photo such as this one. I decided to add some extra interest to the background by using the Sun Shower paper to frame the wreath. I did this by cutting a wavy circle out of the middle of the paper and then laying it over the wreath paper.
Next I matted my photo using one of the papers from the 6 x 8 inch Paper Stack and I adhered it at the bottom of the wreath. I added some extra die cut flowers around the bottom of the photo, adhering them with foam tape to give them some nice dimension. I also added some leaves from the These Days Floral Ephemera to the cluster, and I finished it off with a Wood Epoxy Button, also from the These Dayscollection.
I love combining different alphas to create my titles and on this layout I chose to use a combination of the lovely Mini Puffy Alphas from the These Days collection, with a word from the Daydream Die Cut Titles. My title ‘Sweet Moments’ was the perfect sentiment for this photo. I added my typed journaling strips underneath the title.
I finished the layout off by adding a couple of sweet little butterflies that I fussy cut from one of the 6 x 8 papers, and I also tucked one of the lovely Puffy Hearts into the cluster around the photo. I love the texture that this adds to the page!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope that you enjoyed taking a look at my layout, and that you found some inspiration.
Hello crafty Friends! Welcome on the last day of February. For some of you it means summer is coming to an end and for some more lucky (like me :) ) it means spring is getting closer and closer ending up our winter misery. I so miss the warmth, the sun and the colors and can’t wait for all of this to come. In the meantime I am taking some energy bites by reliving our last year summer adventures. I found this fun series of photos of my younger daughter Maja sliding the slide in waterpark and decided to scrapbook them using my all time favorite “Sunkissed” collection.
I started with a white background papers and splashed it with two shaded of blue mists. When I was waiting for it to dry, I took one of the pattern papers called “Good vibrations” and cut out my title using digital die cutting machine. When it was done, I added a layer of foam adhesive to make it pop from the background.
Each of five photos is backed with a different patter paper from A5 Paper Stack. I just love this product as I do not need to cut into whole 12*12 paper to get only a piece of it. What is even better – patterns in A5 Paper Stack are slightly different than in 12*12 Paper Pack! So you have even more colors and patterns to choose from.
After adding title and photos, I started embellishing everything using my leftover Ephemera Pieces (I am running really low on them). I found matching bathing suit, umbrella, rainbow and few word strips. As you can see, I didn’t spend much time on embellishing this page. Big title and multiply photos make it quite busy already.
When I was done with adding embellishments, I noticed that page isn’t balanced well with busy bottom part and empty space on the top. I was wondering what to do, and then idea strucked me. As this page is abour water splashing on the slide, I can add a dripping water! I took “Sunny days” paper and hand cut a row of “water” with tiny little droplets.
I was crossing my fingers it doesn’t look scarry, more like a slime on halloween page, but it turned out OK. I took white gel pen and added a bit of shine to the title and strip of water. The page was done! I am happy how it turned out and that another memory has beed scrapbooked!
That is all for today. Thank you so much for spending your precious time with me and see in in March!
Hello Paperlovers, And welcome to the Cocoa Vanilla blog. Today I have some new scrapbook. inspiration for you with the amazing collections “Daydream” and “These Days” These are the collections that make me love Cocoa Vanilla Studio so much! So beautiful, delicate and sweet.
I started with a piece of white cardstock. I cut the large black and white photo of my daughter into a circle. I choose a patterned paper from the “Daydream” collection and cut it into a slightly larger circle and place it behind the photo. Then I stitch the round border with light blue sewing thread.
For the butterflies, I used an older cutting template from Provocraft. Of course, you can use any butterfly cutting template you have in your stash. You can also use your electronic cutting machine to cut out a view butterflies. I choose different pattern papers from the “Daydream” and the “These Days” collection for the butterflies. (A small detail, I stitch the butterflies in the center with light blue sewing thread.)
I fussy cut several flowers from the patterned paper. Along with the butterflies, I create a two large clusters on each side. I use adhesive tape and 3D foam to create more dimension.Have you spotted the beautiful green fabric heart yet?
I cut a few extra butterflies from the pattern paper from the ” These Days” collection. I placed these cute little butterflies around the punched out butterflies. For the title, I used the mini puffy alphabet (These Days) and the die-cut Ephemera title (Daydream) I place the title between the two clusters below the photo. For an extra touch, I make splatters with white gesso and distress oxide (Saltwater taffy). I mix the white gesso with water and used a water color brush to apply the splatters to my layout.
I want to thank you for visiting the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog today and I hope I have inspired you with this scrapbook layout. Hope to see you next time and have fun with the beautiful Cocoa Vanilla Studio collections.
XoXo, Jo
It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new Summer themed layout featuring the gorgeous Sunkissed collection.
Who doesn’t love a cute kid in an even cuter swimming costume right? This photo is of my youngest niece and I just love it! The Sunkissed collection was the perfect collection to document this photo.
I decided on the ‘B’ side of the Bright Side paper for my background, trimmed it down and adhered it to a plain sheet of white cardstock. I then chose a title cut file from CUT to YOU, cut that out from white cardstock and then backed it with the Summer Lights patterned paper. Once the cut file title was backed, I added craft foam to the underside and and then adhered it to the top of the page, I did leave the S and U in the word sun with adhesive though as I knew I wanted to tuck in the sun behind the letters. To do this, I fussy cut out the sun from the Fun in the Sun patterned paper, I tucked it behind the letters and then bent up the edges to add some texture to my page.
On top of the title, I took some of the pretty florals from the Floral Ephemera Pack and adhered them in their corresponding colours, so the pink one is layered on top of the pink section in the patterned paper and the yellow flower is on the yellow paper. I cut out another of the journal cards from the Fun in the Sun patterned papertucking it in behind the photo. I love how this journal card added some colour against the dark background and bought out the colours in the photo a little more. I adhered the photo on top using craft foam to add some dimension nd create some depth and shadows on my page. I also cut out the phrase from the same paper that says ‘Love This’ and layered it over the journal card. I also took one of the gorgeous gold glitter foam titles and placed it above the ‘Love This’ phrase.
On the right hand side of the photo, I took that super cute swimsuit die-cut, added craft foam underneath and adhered it right next to the photo. I took some floral and leaf pieces from the floral ephemera packand tucked a few in here and there to add some extra interest to the page. I also took some of the phrase stickers from the Accessory sticker sheetand placed these around the page to help tell the story. I added a few of the gorgeous puffy hearts and lastly stamped the date stamp and sprinkled some drops of white mist around.
Thank you so much for stopping by the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog today! I hope you enjoyed reading about how I created my layout as much as I enjoyed creating it.
