Hi everyone! It’s Sue Plumb here today to share my latest design team page with you. This layout is actually the very first page I created with the brand new ‘Daydream’ collection, even though I am only sharing it now. When I cracked open this collection to create, I couldn’t help myself but reach for the adorable Over the Rainbow paper first. (I think there are lots of people who did the same – including our design team!) You may recall seeing lots of rainbow themed layouts over the past week from our team as part of our rainbow theme, so I thought what better time to share this page and join in the fun!
Now the funny thing about this layout, is I already knew I was going to make it before I even received the collection. (Very unlike me to plan a page ahead of time!) As soon as I saw Zoe’s reveal of this paper, I knew I wanted to use a silhouetted photo of my daughter standing under the rainbow (so I had her pose for the photo in advance).
I started my layout by adding a little bit of extra detail to the paper. I used a fine tip white paint pen to add faux stitched detail along the edges of some of the rainbow arches, and then faux hand stitched details onto the blue hearts.
I then cut around my photo to get rid of all the background and placed some messy white cotton thread for soft texture where my photo was going to go. I used some scrap cardboard behind the photo to pop it up from the page.
Once I had the photo in place I added a floral piece from the Die Cut Ephemera pack along the bottom edge of the page so it looked as though she was springing from a bunch of flowers. I also added a small floral sprig and the fantabulous banner piece to cover her hand.
Now it was time to add some extra detail around my page. In keeping with the whimsical scene I was creating, I added the die cut sun from the ephemera pack in the top right corner of the page using some foam tape to pop it up. I also used the happy days words from the ephemera pack as my page title.
With my daughter’s pose of her hand being held joyfully in the air, I wanted to create a look as though she was scattering some fun / happiness / rainbow vibes, so I used a selection of sequins from the Sequins & Flowers pack and stuck them as though they were being thrown from her hand.
I also added three fussy cut butterflies from the All Aflutterpaper, placing them so they were on the coordinating coloured arch on the rainbow.
I finished off with a few happy phrase stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet placed onto the rainbow and my page was done. This whimsical scene was unlike my usual style of page, but I really had fun creating it and I am happy I could bring my vision to life. (And my daughter absolutely loves it, which is the most important thing, right?!)
Thanks so much for stopping by so I could share this with you. If you haven’t managed to find the ‘Daydream’ collection yet because your favorite store sold out, rest assured that plenty of re-stocks have been shipped, so check with them to see if they have it coming.
Hi Creative friends, Gwen back on the blog today with a new layout share. This week the design team are all sharing projects inspired by Rainbows, how fun right! If you are a fan of Rainbows (and who isn’t) you’ll want to be sure to check out all of the projects if you haven’t already, they are all stunners! I’m also using the new ‘Daydream’ collection which is so perfect for this theme.
Seeing our theme this week is ‘Rainbows’ I was super eager to use this fun Rainbow cut file, (CUT to YOU). I’ve gone ahead and backed it with the ‘Sweet Serenity’ pattern paper. I’ve used both the A and B sides for this and then finished off my Rainbow cut file with some stitching in a pretty pink thread. I’ve then added foam tape to the back and positioned onto my background.
The background for the page is the ‘Sun Shower’ pattern paper, I adore the sweet little raindrop print on this one, the print is so fun for using as a background on your page.
Next, I wanted to position my photo… I do this early as I like to work from the largest elements to the smallest. I’ve chosen to place it on the left so that my daughter (in the picture) is looking in toward the centre of the layout.
Now I can get onto adding some pretty details. I’ve fussy cut out a stack of florals from the ‘Garden Variety’ pattern paper as well as some title elements from the ‘Happy Place’ Cut Apart sheet. I’ve added foam tape to some of these for dimension.
You can see below here that I’ve also added in a flair from the ‘flair pack’ and that cute heart from the ‘Puffy Hearts pack’, the hearts are so sweet and have an added gold detail.
Next, I’ve added in some typed sentiment stickers from the ‘Accessory Sticker Sheet’ and finished the page off with some fussy cut out moths from the ‘All A Flutter’ pattern paper. **TIP – Fussy cut out elements from pattern papers in advance, then you have a sweet stash to add to your page as you are creating.
Thanks for popping by today creative friends, I hope you have enjoyed seeing how I pulled my page together… I also have a YouTube process video up on my channel for this one which you can watch here. If it has inspired you in any way, please let me know by giving it a thumbs up :) xox
Hi y’all! Laura back again with a burst of color in this joyful layout of my darling girls playing together. I just adore their sweet friendship and have to celebrate it at every opportunity! Today’s theme is Throwback Thursday, so I reached into my stash for the very first Cocoa Vanilla collection I ever purchased, the stunning Bohemian Dream! This bold mix of pink, purple, and navy captured my heart from the very first time I saw it.
To start this layout, I backed a cut file from Redefined Kreative with the Abstract patterned paper, then layered it onto the Wild & Free Paper to make a big, bold patterned paper background. Building up from there, I used the remaining purple B-side of Abstract to mat my photos and then added lots of beautiful florals and word phrases around them.
To finish it off, I added some enamel shapes, gold Nuvo drops, gold ink splatter, and sequins from Spiegelmom Scraps that coordinated perfectly! These little details make such a huge difference on a layout and can take a simple page to superb in a flash! I had plenty to share about these two peas in a pod, so I wrote my journaling all around the outside of the mandala. This gave it a bit of an outline as well to distinguish the cut file from the background.
I hope this pattern paper filled layout inspires you to look at your papers a little differently! It’s fun to see how you can use up every little scrap. If you’d like to see the Play layout come together, I have the entire process in the video below!
Hi there friends! Danni here with my take on the Rainbow Love theme for this week. I was incredibly inspired by all the fussy cut-able elements in the 12×12 patterned papers in the new Daydream collection, so I decided to have some fun with the little rainbows in Up in the Clouds patterned paper.
I used my craft knife to carefully cut all the little rainbows out of the Up in the Clouds paper, being careful to keep the rest of paper intact as I was planning on using it later. Once I had done all my cutting (very therapeutic by the way!) I adhered a piece of plain navy cardstock to the back of the 12×12 sheet, so it peeked through all the little rainbow-shaped windows.
I went ahead and took some time to pop all the rainbows up on dimensional foam, which I then adhered over the top of the patterned paper/cardstock background. I made sure to offset each rainbow slightly to allow the cardstock to peek through, which gives depth and shadow.
I chose a sweet photo of my little girl and added some simple paper mats of navy and pink from the 6×8 paper stack, distressing the edges lightly for some texture. I build “This Sweet Love” title from die cut titles pack to right of the photo, creating a left-right downward diagonal to follow my daughter’s eyeline in the photo; this helps create a natural flow to the page.
I built a floral cluster at opposite corners of photo following the same diagonal line, using die cut ephemera flowers and some moths from accessory stickers. I also included a tiny word sticker above my photo and cluster of them as a subtitle below my main title. I love using the tiny word stickers for this, and the sentiments are always perfect.
For a little shimmer I added some gold ink splatters delicately around the page, then tucked in three of the tiny paper flowers from the sequins & flowers pack within my embellishment clusters. I added some further detail to my floral clusters by tucking in some of the gold leaf sequins from the sequins & flowers.
To add the finishing touch, I chose an assortment of sequins to add sparkle around my page, adding them in three clusters like I would enamel dots. The background of this page looked so impactful that I did not need to add much embellishment to have an incredible layout, which made this page come together so easily!
I really hope you enjoyed this page and maybe got a little inspiration! I have a process video linked below if you would like to watch it all come together. Happy scrapping!
Hello Cocoa Vanilla maniacs. I have a pleasure to open a RAINBOW LOVE week over the CVS blog. I bet you can imagine my excitement when I saw this theme. I am hudge rainbow fan and I love mixing and matching many collections in one project. I ended up with very energetic page documenting first day of a brand new school year of my older daughter. She is already a sixth grader so it means only two more years before she will finish elementary school and move to high school. I am totally not ready for that moment.
I started making this page with a white watercolor paper sheet. I picked six Distress Oxide ink colors and made a rainbow rays with them, starting in the middle of the page. It’s a really easy and simple process. You can easily replace Oxides with any other inks. They just need to blend easily. After I applied the colors, I sprinkled everything with clean water to create few splatters. Ink reacted with water fading away which added some great texture to the background.
Next step was picking six papers in corresponding colors to layer them over mixed media background. I went through my CVS stash and picked orange and yellow papers from “Legendary”, green and blue from “Boys rule”, pink from “Happiness” and purple from “Bohemian dream”. I run them through my Silhouette Cameo and cut simple arrows in different sizes in each color.
I glued them over the backgroun color on color. Last step was to place the photo with some embellishments around it. This time I gathered 6*12 sticker sheet from many older and newer collections and picked few labels and tabs to add them under the photo. I didn’t want to cover too much of my background.
I went through my collection of enamel dots, also from the previous collections, and placed few of them between the arrows, also color on color.
It was such an easy and fun page to make. I can never say “no” to all those juicy colors. If you want to learn how it was done, you can watch a process video I recorded for you.
I hope you will join in this colorful madness and create your own rainbow. Thank you so much for stopping by and see you in two weeks. I will finally be able to share with you a project made with brand new “Daydream” collection. It just arrived to my doorstep and I am over the moon excited.
Hello it’s Melissa here and I’m back to share another layout that I made with the gorgeous ‘DAYDREAM’ collection!! Have I mentioned how beautiful the colours are in this collection?! I decided to feature several of the patterned papers in the ‘6×8 PAPER STACK’, and one of my favourite ways to do this is to use a background cut file. I went with one with lots of hearts so that I could scrap this darling photo of my two oldest girls with the layouts they created with the amazing International Scrapbooking Day digital kit that Zoe created.
I fussy cut one of the floral clusters from ‘GARDEN VARIETY’ and featured it at the bottom of my photo. The doily is from my stash and adds a soft and pretty layer between the photo and the cut file.
I made my background with some watercolour splatters in coordinating colours, I love that it changes my background from plain white, but isn’t overpowering. I used two different sized brushes to get larger and smaller splatters. I’m also thrilled to get one of the ‘FLAIR BUTTONS’ onto my page!! I thought the ‘Choose Joy’ sentiment was perfect.
I made my title from the ‘DIE CUT TITLES’ which I love using because sometimes coming up with a title when you scrap as much as I do is challenging to say the least! I added a sticker from the ‘ACCESSORY STICKERS’ which was a perfect subtitle. I was also so happy to put one of the ‘PUFFY HEARTS’ hearts on my layout!! They are super adorable, and the corduroy texture and slight shimmer is beautiful!
I wrote my journalling on one of the smaller cut apart sheets from the 6×6 version of ‘HAPPY PLACE’.
You can watch my process in the video below, and I also include a detailed look at fussy cutting the floral cluster.
It’s Tarrah back with you to share another scrapbook layout featuring the amazing new Daydream collection! This collection is absolutely stunning, if you haven’t got your hands on it yet, trust me, you NEED it!
The photo I am documenting today is of my beautiful nieces on a recent little outdoor adventure to see some waterfalls.
The Daydream collection was perfect to document this cute outing as I was able to include the butterflies, moths, florals and rainbows to help tell the story of the outdoors in the photo. I placed foam adhesive underneath my matted photo and then placed this slightly to the right of the page to allow enough room for my title that I placed to the left of the photo. I also used foam adhesive to lift the title up off the page.
A little tip for when you are adhering butterflies and want some dimension – place adhesive in the very centre of the butterfly body only, let the glue dry and then lift up the wings. You can see in the photo above the shadows that are created by doing this!
Above the photo and title, I placed some more phrases and created a sequin cluster. I also placed a banner sticker right on the photo. I also tucked in some floral pieces either side of the photo and I added a word sticker to the fabric puffy heart!
I cut the pink heart strip from the ‘Happy Place’ paper and adhered it to the top of the layout. I absolutely love the rainbow stripe ‘Stepping Stones’ paper, I used this piece as a starting point to create my layout, I cut it and turned it so the stripes ran vertically. By doing this, it directs the eye towards the top of the page and allows you to take in all the elements and photo.
Thank you so much for stopping by the Cocoa Vanilla blog today! I hope you liked my layout today and that I have inspired you in some way! See you next time!
Hello CVS friends Rachel here! Haven’t the DT layouts using the stunning new collection Daydream been just gorgeous! I had to use all my restraint not to use the rainbow paper this time around, but I promise I will end up over using it as it is my absolute fav!
So here is my first layout using Daydream titled The Good Life, which is documenting our sea change to a coastal regional town (which was the best decision ever!)
I chose a camper cut file as my new home is all about the sea and visitors in camper vans all summer long. I used GardenVariety and Daisy Days papers to create the body of the camper van. I used Sun Showers paper and the wood grain paper from the 6×8 inch paper pad to create chassis and wheel. I then machine stitched each segment. I added the curtain and door with foam tape to create height. I had to use the gold puffy heart which went perfectly in the centre of the wheel.
I created a floral cluster using the die cut flowers from the Ephemera pack, this was to add a feature that softened the layout. I layered them and used foam tape to adhere some of them. I added some glossy accents to the flowers, cut file leaves in white and finished off with a moth/butterfly.
My photo is of our jetty at sunset which is stunning. I framed it with a die cut frame and added to my layout with foam tape. I tucked the sun die cut under the frame and finished off adding one of the gorgeous flairs. I used a scallop paper strip to form my ‘sky’ and a strip from the Garden Variety paper to create my ‘grass’. This links everything together.
I added journalling under the camper in the form of a phrase sentiment from the die cut pack and some that I typed.
This would make a great travel layout and of course you could add more photos!
Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you have a wonderful week.
Hello Cocoa Vanilla friends ! It’s Sophie here today and I am sharing a bright and colourful layout with you !
I created my page with the GORGEOUS Happiness Collection. I only have a few scraps of it left, but you will see with this page that even a little can go a long way !!
I chose a photo of my little Sabrina playing in the park where we had a picnic a few weeks ago. It was a radiant sunny day, and I wanted to highlight this moment with the bright colors of the Happiness collection.
I started with a thick white cardstock as my background. I added some powder inks diluted in water to create a big blue and aqua area on my layout where I planned to put my photo and embellishments. I used the packaging technique and added numerous splatters of ink on the cardstock.
I let it dry completely. In the mean time, I cut a beautiful flower cut file from Just Nick Studio on a white cardstock and backed it with different papers of the Happiness collection, mainly the Botanical Bliss paper, the Frame of Mind paper, the Expressive paper and the Good Vibes paper. I put adhesive foam behind the cut file before adhering it to pe page.
I also backed my photo with tissue paper (as I always do..!) and adhesive foam, and two layers of patterned papers (Good Vibes and Expressive papers).
I added a few leaves on my flower cut file, a little black wreath and two beautiful butterflies on the left side of my photo. They all come from the Happiness Die Cut Ephemera pack.
My title is a word from the Die Cut Titles pack. “Unique” couldn’t be a better word to describe my sweet girl who is always full of joy…!
I also created a little cluster on the top right of the layout where I added ephemeras and a few stickers from the Happiness Clear Sticker sheets for a pop of color and more dimension. It creates a diagonal design that guides the eye through the page.
I finally wrote dawn my journaling and added the date.
I am so happy of the end-result ! It screams summer to me and it is much needed, as fall is slowly coming and the days get colder and darker quite fast, at least here in Canada !
Here are more close-ups.
I truly hope you like this page and that it inspires you to use this wonderful CVS collection !
Hey y’all! Laura here with a bright rainbow filled layout so sweet it will warm your heart, even in the coldest winter! This gorgeous Daydream collection is just stunning and an absolute “dream” to work with, I have to tell you. My favorite part of this collection are the frames and florals, so I decided to showcase both of them on this darling 9×12 layout of my sweet girl on the trampoline. I even created two more frames with scrap paper to mix up the designs.
I backed each of the frames with patterned paper from the 6×8 pad and a couple with cut-aparts from the Happy Place paper. I fussy cut a ton of florals from the 6×8 paper pad and tucked them all around the corners where my photos met the frames, even a few of the itty bitty florals to use as detail pieces! When I added the butterflies, I just had to give them Nuvo trails behind them to create a little movement on the page.
To give this layered layout a little added texture, I popped rosettes into two of the clusters and glued the gold sequins from the embellishment pack alongside my fussy cut florals. I love the energy of this collection, it is just perfect for my happy go-lucky girls and their sweet imaginations!
I hope this frame filled layout inspires you to look at your ephemera a little differently! It’s fun to see how you can use frames in a new way. If you’d like to see the Lovely layout come together, I have the entire process in the video below!
