Adorable You | Daydream Collection | Kylie Kingham.

Hello everyone! It’s Kylie with you all today and I have another new layout design to share with you all. The theme this week on the blog is ‘An Everyday Moment’. So to document and scrapbook something that happens from your every day. I’ve decided to scrapbook a photo of my sweet little pup- Maximus Decimus Meridius…..or Max for short. (We adopted him as a baby and named him after the Gladiator. He may be small but he is mighty!) Do you like to scrapbook your pets too?? I really need to start creating more pages of little Max. I had this photo of him that I took recently, doing his favourite thing! Laying on his blanky on the top of the lounge, under the heater and watching the world go by outside. He loves to do this for hours on end each and every day!

For my layout I have used the beautiful DAYDREAM collection as well as a gorgeous title cut file by Cut To You. The HAPPY PLACE paper was used for the background and I used the OVER THE RAINBOW paper to cut out the cut file. Once the cut file had been cut out and backed, I adhered it to the background using foam adhesive tape.

I added a 3-4 inch strip of the STEPPING STONES paper to the top of the background page and tore into the base line just a little. For a rustic effect I folded the tear back and stapled each side. I was then able to begin tucking and layering some of the floral die cuts from this point.

My photo was printed to a 3″x4″ size and back with the DAISY DAYS paper. It was added to the top of the title cut file with more foam adhesive tape. Once in place I worked really hard to ensure my page kept a nice balance of accents. More die cuts were added behind my photo as well as below my title. To finish, I added a short sub-title phrase to suit my photo from the cardstock sticker sheet.

Everyday Family Moments | Daydream | Rachel Lowe

Recently my cat of 18 years passed away. Although she was old it still hurt my heart greatly and when looking back at old photos I realised that I had not taken enough photos of her through the years. We often  take everyday moments for granted and losing her reminded me that photographing and documenting everyday moments is just as important as life highlights. I have used the beautiful Daydream collection and with her being a ginger cat the colours in this collection were perfect.

I found my title in the Silhouette Design Store. I used the off set function (if you have a Silhouette Cameo) to create depth to it and creating light/shade by using these two papers, All A Flutter and Happy Place. I finished off adding some of the tiny flowers from the ephemera die cut pack.

I tore three paper strips from the All A Flutter  Daisy Days and Garden Variety papers. I love the texture torn paper strips gives your layout. As I had chosen a busy paper I chose not to mat my photo (5×6 inches) but adding with foam tape to give it height.

Despite using the floral papers I went ahead and added two floral bunches on each side of my photo, not only does this frame my photo it allows you to layer with foam tape large florals so they stand out. Adding green foliage also adds impact and draws your eye.

I created some journalling by using words from the Accessory Sticker Sheet and the beautiful rainbow flair, I added some gold thread behind the flair to add a little sparkle!

I typed her name and dates slightly under the torn paper strips. (if your wondering why she had a boys name is because we assumed that as ginger cats are mostly boys, the vet later let us know ‘he’ was a ‘she’, a bit late to change the name lol!!) I added some butterflies from the die cut ephemera pack.

I finished my layout off adding one of the beautiful Puffy Hearts with a little more gold thread added.

My Home Memories | Daydream Collection | Danni Visser

Hello Cocoa Vanilla fans! Danni here sharing a 12×12 layout using the beautiful Daydream collection. This week I was challenged to create a layout in my ‘signature style’. I hope you like it!

When choosing a design for my layouts, I almost always choose a patterned paper as a starting point. I just love using a bright subtle pattern as a background, so I selected Sun Shower 12×12 patterned paper for the lovely bright yellow colour.

Next I decided to add some handstitching, which very often features on my layouts. I sketched some delicate leaf shapes with a pencil around where I thought my photos would go, and added a simple backstitch in white embroidery thread. I especially love how white thread looks on a colourful background paper.

I chose two 3×4 photos as that tends to be my most commonly used photo composition. I added a simple photo mat to each using the subtle black and white print on Sweet Serenity 12×12 patterned paper, then overlapped them slightly with one popped up on dimensional foam. Another signature feature of my layouts is cutfiles, so I added some of the simple white leaf cutfiles that I keep on my desk. I like how these followed the same design as the stitched leaves while adding a different texture.

 

I filled in my leaf clusters with some blue and pink floral die cuts from the die cut ephemera, popping some of them up on dimensional foam. I chose a large title from the die cut titles and stacked them around my main photo cluster. I also went ahead and added some highlights to the letters with a white gel pen to create a three-dimensional effect.

I almost always use tiny words from the accessory stickers on my layouts, so I went in and added these in three places around my layout, tucking them below my main title and around my photos. I also chose three of the adorable tiny butterflies that I fussy cut from the 6×8 paper stack, popped their wings up on foam and drew tiny flight trails behind them with my white gel pen.

To finish off I added another signature technique that I use on almost every layout – ink splatters. I used a white acrylic ink and black acrylic paint to create tiny delicate splatters all around the layout. I really love how this turned out and I think it definitely matches my signature style. The Good Life | Daydream Collection | Melissa Vining

Hi everyone, its Melissa here and I’m so happy to be back with you sharing another layout!! I put up a poll on the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Facebook page asking whether I should use the Daydream collection or the Sunkissed collection.  Daydream won, and I was happy to use it as I had an idea for the Stepping Stones paper.  I decided to scrapbook a photo of my kids on Sam’s 14th birthday in March of this year.

When I saw Stepping Stones I always had a plan to cut it into strips and recreate an organic rainbow shape with it.  I’d been waiting for the perfect photo, and it turned out way better than I ever imagined!!  I cut the strips roughly so they weren’t perfect, and then used a side plate to line up my first row of strips.  I alternated the colours to include all of the strips from the paper.  I machine stitched my last row to secure them.

I only adhered the centres of the strips with liquid glue to enable movement, and I lifted the edges up for dimension. I embellished around my photo with bits and pieces from the Die Cut Ephemera.  I also used one of the ‘Puffy Hearts’ and a Flair Button.

I created another area of embellishment that would also contain my title.  I don’t always think titles have to be big and overpowering, and for this layout I really wanted the rainbow (and photo of course) to be the star. I also used some of the “Accessory Stickers”.

You can read my journalling in the photo below.  My final touch was to add some metallic gold drops, and I love how they finish off my layout.

Good moments | Daydream Collection | Anna Blades

Hi CVS friends!

It’s Anna here with you, sharing my last layout as part of the Design Team. It has been an amazing year and I’ve enjoyed so much working with Cocoa Vanilla collections. I want to thank Zoe for giving me this opportunity. And I hope my projects have inspired you during this month. For today’s layout, I’ve used the beautiful Daydream collection and a cut file from Cut to You.

I started with a watercolor sheet, using dye inks and the plastic technique to create my background. Then, using the same inks, I stamped typed words, because books are the subject of the layout.

The cut file has two books. I backed the one that is open with a paper from the Unforgettable Collection because it reminds me of the pages of a book. I backed the other one with papers from the Daydream 6×8 paper stack.

I placed my picture on top of the open book. My daughter is reading a book to her little cousin, that’s why I decided to use this cut file. I think it’s so sweet. For my title, I used the words “good moments” from the die cut titles.

Finally, I put die cut flowers all around the cut file and the picture. The flowers give a spring and magic look to the page. I also added a cute rainbow, a butterfly, and a little heart.

Easter Gift Boxes and Card | Daydream | Rachel Lowe

Hello CVS friends, today I want to share some quick and easy gift boxes and a card I have created using Daydream Collection. With Easter not far away (and I love easter creating way more than Christmas) Daydream was perfect with  its beautiful muted colours to create Easter paper crafts.

You can find the milk carton cut file in the Silhouette Design Store. I cut the base of the milk cartons using Stepping Stones paper. I used papers from the 6×8 inch paper stack to cut the tops, using Garden Variety, Up in the Clouds and Sweet Serenity designs.

Next I cut three bunnies again using the 6×8 inch paper stack papers, I embossed the bunnies cut from plain paper but left the floral bunny as it was patterned. I added a small pom pom for the tails. Next I added word sentiments from the Accessory sticker sheet.

I cut three rosettes to attach my bunnies to, this really adds a wow factor. I then added some die cut ephemera to embellish. These will be filled with sweet treats and given as gifts.

I made this super cute Easter card which is so easy to put together and time friendly. I cut a 5×5 inch paper strip using the Garden Variety paper again. I then added Happy Place paper to back the circle wreath die cut piece. Before adding this to the centre of my card I added some sparkley ribbon. I cut another bunny (different style) resized it to fit my card and added off centre in the wreath. I added a pom pom tail and a phrase sentiment from the Accessory Sticker sheet.

 

I had so much fun making these Easter projects and who needs an Easter collection when you have Daydream collection. Thank you for stopping by today and I will be back soon with a layout using the new Sunkissed collection!

Little Sunshine | Daydream collection | Sophie Delorme

Hello Cocoa Vanilla friends !

It’s Sophie on the blog today sharing a layout created with the gorgeous Daydream Collection.

 

Today’s theme is “My Signature Style” meaning creating a layout in my “usual” style. Here it is:

 

I don’t know exactly what is my style to tell you the truth, but I know that I love creating big floral clusters and usually can’t stop layering pieces to create them ! I also nearly always hand write my journaling directly on my background paper. So these are my focus on my page today… Clustering was quite easy to do with the gorgeous floral die cuts from the collection !

I used a thick white cardstock as my base and cut a background cut file made of snowflakes that is a Hip Kit Club cut file. I backed my cardstock with the GORGEOUS (clearly my favorite of the kit !) patterned paper named “Sweet Serinity”.

 

I took a photo of my little Sabrina playing in the snow (yes, this is my last wintery layout as I just CAN’T WAIT for spring to arrive…!!), backed it with tissue paper, adhesive foam and a few layers of patterned paper and adhered it on the right side of my page.

I used Die Cut words from the same collection for my title and applied a bit of Nuvo Iridescent Glitter Texture Paste on the words for a little extra shine !

 

I placed die cut houses, hearts and stickers on the left side of my photo and of course, created that big floral cluster next to the photo. I also added glitter paste to the roof of the houses and on some of the flowers. I added a cute Flair Button and, as usual, the last thing I did was to hand write my journaling !

 

 

Although this is not a winter collection, the Daydream collection is so versatile that it works perfectly with this winter photo !

SWEET HEART | DAYDREAM COLLECTION | Sophie Delorme

Hello Cocoa Vanilla friends !

 

It’s Sophie on the blog today sharing a layout created with the gorgeous DayDream Collection.

 

 

I took out my heart punches today and created numerous hearts in various patterned papers from the collection. I made a machine stitch with matching thread on the bigger hearts and bent the edges a little bit.

 

I used a white cardstock as my base for the design backed with a soft blue cardstock. I did a few zig zag stitches around the edges of the white cardstock.

 

I teared a strip of the beautiful Sweet Serinity paper that I put on the bottom of the page to ground the photo and the myriad of hearts.

 

 

I scattered the hearts around my photo in a “Rainbow” order, the darker shades of hearts on the bottom and the lighter ones on the top.

 

 

My DayDream Die Cut title “Sweet Heart” couldn’t be more appropriate for this page !

 

 

I also used the beautiful DayDream Sequins that I adhered around the hearts. I made sure to use matching colors between the sequins and the hearts.

 

 

Finally, I sticked down a few words stickers, added a beautiful Flair, my journaling and stamped the date.

 

 

I love the very soft feel of the overall look of this page. Two simple heart punches can go a long way !! And it allows to use many different patterned papers on a layout without making it look too busy.

Shine on | Daydream Layout | Anna Komenda

Hello Cocoa Vanilla fans. It’s Anna here with my newest page. As I am living on the other side of the world (comparing to Australia), I am still waiting for my parcel with brand new “Sunkissed” collection to arrive. In the mean time I still have a chance to play with pretty “Daydream” and there are few ideas I wanted to try with it. Inspiration for this page came to me from well… box of dog food. You never know the mysterious ways mojo travels :D

It had this rosette, that best dogs on the show get, on the packaging and I thought it would be fun to make big rosette on the page too. One thing led to another and I was already scoring few pieces of “Stepping stones” paper, combining then in one larger piece. I also used a border punch to add some decorative edge. When rosette was finished I started looking for a good background paper. I was going to reach for just white cardstock to make rosette shine but, by the lucky coincidence, it turned out it matches perfectly the paper with wreath called “Daisy days“. You can still see pieces of flowers and leaves peeking from behind.

Making the rosette took me a while so I knew I don’t want to cover it too much. I fussy cut some flower clusters from “Garden variety” paper and arranged them under my photo. I added few elements from the sticker sheet, like rainbow, tab and a title. I also cut out some butterflies from “Aflutter” paper. I know, I know… I am a fussy cutting freak :D

To make sure the rosette will stay glued to the paper, I used hot glue gun. It’s the best solution for this kind of elements, especially with rosette as it wants to bounce back to the tube shape. I also used hot glue to glue down flowers and other elements on the top of the rosette too. This way I am sure layout will be in good condition for years of storing it vertically.

This time I haven’t used any ephemera pieces (as I am running low on them already) and I tried to squeeze out as much as I can from the papers themselves. It always makes me so happy and relaxing to spend my time with scissors, watch YouTube and just cut. I like to do it in advance so when the mojo strikes, I am ready with all the elements.

That is all for today. I hope my next project will be made with super colorful and pretty “Sunkissed” line. I can’t wait to play with it. See you in two weeks <3
