Super Star | Legendary collection | Tazhiana Gordon

Hello Cocoa Vanilla friends and welcome to my second project with the Legendary collection! Today, I decided to stretch my creative muscles and scrapbook a photo of myself after my pinning ceremony – that felt pretty legendary if I do say so – and to create a rainbow! The colors in this collection are super saturated so it was perfect for this type of project.

I started with a rainbow cut file I had in my hoard of cut files and backed it with some of the papers from the collection – luckily the cutfile only had five swatches for color so I was able to make a pretty convincing rainbow with the papers in the line. After backing my cut file and my clouds, I tore one of the patterned papers to create the illusion of sky and layered a few clouds in the background on foam for more interest and dimension. Then it was time to work on embellishing!

For this layout, I did something I rarely do – I stuck down my title first! I knew I wanted my title to be Super Star and that I wanted to scatter stars across my page so it just made sense to do it that way. I created a cluster using some ephemera and propped up part of my title on foam stickers for added dimension. I really loved the medal that said “certified legend” so of course that went into my cluster and I added an extra few stars to repeat the theme.

I chose to mat my photo on one of the more colorful sheets of paper to repeat the paper in the background and created a cluster around it using a mix of the die cuts and cardstock stickers on the other end of my rainbow. I love the flow of the page with the rainbow connecting the left and right side of the page – it makes the whole layout feel super fun!

Finally, to help me balance some of the white space, I tore an edge on the bottom of my paper, added a bit more patterned paper and a few bits of ephemera to add some color and pop at the bottom of the layout. A few enamel dots sprinkled across the page completed this layout!

You are Awesome | Legendary Collection | By Raquel Bowman

Hey everyone, well it’s been a long time between posts for me here on the CVS blog but I am excited to be back creating and sharing projects with you all. My first layout I am sharing with you is using the new Legendary collection. I have both a boy (5) and girl (7) at home so always love when Zoe creates a masculine collection to use to document our stories.

Here is the layout that I created:

I have used white card stock as my base for this layout and framed it with the ‘Total Legend’ patterned paper. I loved the geometric Aztec design of the bside of this paper and thought it added a nice border to the whole layout. My statement piece on this page is the cut file from Cut 2 You which I backed with the ‘wild one’ ‘offbeat’ and ‘all star’ papers. This was added to the page with foam dots to create shadow and dimension against the white background. I wanted this page to feature pops of yellow and compliment the colour in my kids tops so the colours in the ‘wild one’ paper was perfect for this. Stars feature heavily in design elements for this collection so of course I had to feature the, on this page of my two little superstars.

The design of the layout is a diagonal design where the embellishments flow from the upper left corner to the bottom right creating balance. I am a lover of layers so for my portrait photo I have layered multiple patterned papers behind it to add detail and dimension. The final layer I cut fishtail ends into just for something different. That whole layered piece is also adhered to my layout using a foam sheet. To be more cost effective in my craft and because I love to add dimension to my layout I buy foam sheets in bulk packs from stores like Spotlight or Lincraft.

The star embellishments featured on this page are from a couple of different items in the collection; the ephemera pack and fussy cut from the ‘all star’ paper. To add detail to the stars I have either adhered them with a clear glue dot or added machine stitching for texture.

I always love to hand type my journaling and cut it into strips. This particular page features my kiddies love hate relationship… siblings right?!?

Love you to the moon and back | legendary | Anita Bownds

Hi there crafty friends , Anita here today sharing a girly layout using the legendary collection
Yes you can make beautiful girly layouts with a boy collection and using a cut file can help a lot if you don’t know where to start ..my go to is flowers totally love them!! I really enjoy making them and adding lots of depth and colour and they always give that feminine touch to any project
So I chose 2 cut files from @neatncraftycutz a background full of butterflies and tiny hearts to add colour using papers ( total legend , wild one , one way ) and a flower cut file to bring that girly vibe
 ( wild one , one way and offbeat)
And I really wanted to bring more of those colours to the background I matted my white cardstock on
Pattern ( Wild one ) and machine stitched around the border..
When matting my photo I decided on colours and patterned papers (total legend)
so that didn’t over power but blended With the colours of pattern papers of the butterflies .
I also tucked lots of (ephemera and accessory stickers ) in the paper layers to add more colour
With my title I used The  ( die cut titles and accessory stickers) to balance out the colour I added a small flower above the title I also add a (flair button ) to break up the colour with the flowers.
So I hope I’ve inspired you to try and make some girly layouts with this fabulous boy collection .

Super Star | Legendary Collection | Michelle Stokes

Hello Hello! It’s Michelle back here today with my newest layout share featuring the BRAND NEW collection to Cocoa Vanilla Studio – Legendary. OMG It is one heck of a collection! The bold masculine colours and designs are perfect for documenting both every day BOY themed layouts, but also sweet pages of little school rockstars!

Most of you all would know by now I generally only scrap layouts of Leila, so boy themed collections are a little tricky to navigate. But once I find a common theme within the papers and embellishments that work with anything other than boy related photos I run with it. Today I went a little nuts with the stars, my 2nd favourite design element to create with after florals. I chose a cut file that worked with the design I had in mind from CUT to YOU and a pattern paper  OFF BEAT  to use for the background that wasn’t white cardstock.

I focused on backing all the Stars of the cut file using both the star pattern paper  ALL STAR  and a couple of complimentary patterns  OFF BEAT & WILD ONE . I also added vellum to some of the smaller circles to soften all the colour that was popping off the page

I created a photo mat using a roughly torn reverse piece of  EPIC TALES  layered with corner pieces of the  OFF BEAT  pattern and a tag cut in half from the bottom cut apart section of  EPIC TALES  . The orange noteworthy tab is from the  EPHEMERA  pack . This whole piece is layered and raised up with foam sheets.

To the left of the photo I added the title using some of the  DIE CUT TITLE  words plus a couple of  ACCESSORY STICKER  strips

Along the bottom right I added a few extra  EPHEMERA  pieces with some cut file off cuts. Lastly I scattered stars from the  EPHEMERA  pack along with some  ENAMEL DOTS  and gold colour shine to add some finishing touches.

Epic Adventure | Legendary Collection | Rachel Lowe

Hi all, Rachel here! I am loving all the boy layouts on the blog currently, the new Legendary Collection is so fab that’s for sure! Here is my first layout featuring a photo of my three boys.

I used this wild bear cut file as the main element of my page, the Outdoors Type paper just so perfect with it’s two colour tones and map print. I added it to my base paper, Offbeat with foam tape. I had already worked out my title so added a clear sticker word (Adventure) and the Let’s Go flair.

My photo is 4×6 inches long as I wanted it to centre it above the bear but needed room to add another die cut ephemera word to complete my title. I used the clear sticker paint brush strokes to frame my photo, using several of the colour options. I also added a smaller green one over my title word Epic.

I added in a random manner die cut ephemera stars around the border and to add texture I added messy machine stitching.

I added some blue paint splotches clear stickers around the bears paws so it gave the illusion of water splashing as he is walking (well that’s the picture in my head lol!).

I finished off my layout using an Accessory Sticker so I could add the date later and a clear sticker arrow. This layout is easy and quick to put together, having a mixed media base paper and a large cut file really just leaved the finer details to add.

You HEART Me | More than Words | Michelle Stokes

Hello Friends it’s Michelle back today with my final share for this wonderful month of LOVE. I stepped back in time and used the beautiful More than Words for this lovey dovey share along with a family photo from a few years back. Love the sweet pastel colours within this collection that give a soft feminine feel to the layout.

I chose a fun cut file from CUT to YOU (designed by DT Member Gwen) to use as the main focal point on the layout and backed it with multiple pattern papers from the 6×6 paper pad within this collection. I used a loose rule of 3’s for this to ensure I had a good balance of colours and patterns = 3 of each pattern or colour tone spaced out amongst the letters, words and hearts. I backed the entire layout on a 12×12 piece of the COLLAGE paper (reverse side) plus a little pop of the same pattern used as a layer within the photo stack.

I used foam tape to adhere the entire file to the backing cardstock – this gave it a slight pop of dimension off the page.

I adore this photo of us, Leila was so little compared to how giant she feels now. I layered some scrap pieces from previous layouts under the photo stack – nothing goes to waste here! Theres a cluster of sorts formed to the right of the photo using pieces from the ephemera pack. Love the tiny floral bits in this collection.

Another little cluster using similar elements over on the left of the page, incorporating a couple of stickers – one of which was fussy cut from a larger sticker.

Another mini cluster at the top of the layout to finish off the visual triangle I was hoping to achieve with such a ‘large and in charge’ type of cut file in the background. I really love how it all turned out, and felt it was complete after a sprinkling of my trusty gold colour shine.

Cool Dude | Legendary Collection | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends,

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am excited to be sharing my first layout using the AWESOME Legendary collection!

As the mother of 2 boys and hubby, I am slightly outvoted in my house and love all the boy collections to document their antics with! The Legendary collection is absolutely perfect for their pages, on this page I have documented a photo of my handsome youngest son hanging out at the shops one day!One of my favourite papers from the collection is the rainbow one called ‘Wild One’, I love how it is in a diagonal design! I trimmed it down slightly and added it to the ‘Explorer’ paper, I like the navy as a mat for the page. I then cut out a diagonal triangle cut file design from The Cut Shoppe from white cardstock and placed it over the top of the paper. I love how the white breaks up some of the rainbow paper. I machine stitched around the outside edge of the layout.

The large stars in the ephemera pack have a line drawn on them so they were perfect to machine stitch, see the detail on 2 of the larger stars in the photo below. I matted my photo using the wood grain frame die-cut and one of the small cut out papers from the ‘Total Legend’ paper, I also stapled one of banner die-cuts to the top left corner of my photo. I adhered the largest star in the top left corner and the smaller one in the bottom right corner and then adhered my photo over the top.

The Die-Cut title pack are awesome and I love the font of these! I chose the words ‘Cool Dude’ for my title and popped it up with pop dots underneath and placed to the right of my photo. I took lots of the coloured stars from the die-cut pack and popped them up in rainbow fashion like the paper. I love the height and shadows this creates! I also added one of the awesome flair buttons with the star on it to the right of the ‘Cool’ word in my title. Lastly I added a few of the clear stickers, accessory stickers and enamel dots to finish my layout.

Smile | Unforgettable Collection | Rachel Lowe

Hello CVS friends I hope you are having a fab week! My photo is of me in Croatia (because a pretty bike like this has to be scrapped!), I made my husband take about 50 shots as historically he takes terrible photos, out of the 50 odd shots I got one where the actual bike and me ended up in the photo lol!!!!!

I have used Unforgettable collection and the bike with flower baskets cut file is by Paige Evans/Silhouette Design store.I cut a piece of white cardstock at 10×10 inches matting it on Unscripted paper. I then set about create tiny flowers to fill the baskets. I used Forget-Me-Not paper to create them and a flower punch that I had in three sizes. I used white NUVO crystal drops in the centres.I then paper pieced the bike and hearts, I used Garland paper turquoise side, for the baskets I used Glorious paper the grey side and finally I used Class Act paper from Love Always collection.I used the Clear Stickers from Unforgettable collection, butterflies and the paint brush stroke which I added under my photo (as I chose not to matt it). I added some Accessory Stickers under my photo. My photo is 5×4 inches.I chose a Flair from the collection which is also my title, choosing it over a traditional title as I didn’t want my layout to become cluttered.

My Lovely | unforgettable and Happiness | Anita Bownds

Hi there crafty friends,
Anita here sharing a fun mixed media layout with lot’s of flowers and leaves using unforgettable and happiness collections I really love how all the cocoa vanilla studio collections always work so well together and I absolutely love the bright and beautiful colours…

 

I started off with white cardstock and adhered it on sprightly pattered paper to add colour to my border around my white cardstock then stitched around the edges using my sewing machine

 

Then I added watercolour to the cardstock and then mixing pink paint with heavy body gel
Through a dots stencil to add more texture to the background

 

Then I started adding flowers and leaves from a cut file from Paige Evans that I cut from unscripted ,garland papers and the 6×8 happiness paper pad using my silhouette cameo I added a flair and enamel dots and a few rhinestones from my stash

 

Then I matted my photo on papers From the 6×8 unforgettable paper pad and the blue pattern paper from the happiness paper pad and tucking it in the flower clusters and i used a title from the happiness cardstock titles

 

And I finish off the layout by adding some ephemera and stickers around my photo
And clear stickers around my floral cluster.

My Happiness | Happiness Collection | Michelle Stokes

Hey Friends its Michelle back here today with my first layout share for the month of LOVE.. I went with a heart theme for my layout using the colourful HAPPINESS Collection and a new cut file from CUT to YOU.

This sweet girl LOVES a selfie here and there, and the perfect time to capture just happens to be night time snuggles. However I’ve just realised upon writing this post that the photo was in fact taken early December, the night before her birthday. The journalling for the photo could have been completely different, but much the same as the direction I took when creating.

OK, lets talk through the process of how this all came together shall we?

I resized the cut file design to around 10 inches and cut it out twice for this layout – once using white cardstock for the outline, then again for the backing piece using the MEADOW paper. I adhered the 2 pieces together where each heart joins the next and left the tops of the hearts open for a little added dimension. Then I stuck the entire piece to the backing paper SPRINKLES

I added the photo to the bottom left of the hearts wreath, layered with some vellum and GOOD VIBES paper and adhered using foam tape to lift it up off the layout. I added a cluster of EPHEMERA pieces to the right of this using different forms of adhesive for varying depth of layers.

Heres a closer look at all that pretty goodness

Top left of the layout I replicated the ephemera cluster and added a title using cardstock words. To the lower right I added my handwritten journalling, a couple of accessory stickers and of course the wrong stamped date HAHA
