Hello dear friends! Thanks for stopping by the blog today. It’s Kylie back with you to share a new layout I have completed with the super gorgeous ‘Happiness’ collection. I had taken some recent photos of my girl and wanted to create something fun and florally. I’ve used a sweet birdhouse cut file designed by Paige Evans.
I trimmed 1cm off each edge from some of the MEADOW paper before adhering it over the top of a piece of the BLISS paper to create a framed effect. I then trimmed 1.5cm off each edge of a piece of white card stock and adhered it centred to my page. Using a wide paint brush and some aqua watercolour I added some stripes and random splatters to my background. I felt no need to add Gesso to the background first as I wasn’t going to go crazy with mixed media.Once dry I added a fine hand drawn border with a black marker pen.
Once my cut files were backed I adhered them to my page with some foam squares. This makes them sit up from the background, enabling me to create more dimension within my page.
There are so many lovely floral elements in the ‘Happiness’ die cut pack. I added several to the base of my page to support my photo. I used more foam tape on some, again for dimension. I printed my photo to 3″x 4″and in black and white. With so much colour going on in my page this helps to still draw the eyes attention to the photo, rather than having it lost or blend in amongst it.To finish my page I have added some of the typed phrase stickers from the sticker sheet. There are so many phrase options you can create with these!
I hope you have enjoyed seeing my latest layout today and you can enjoy some scrapping time of your own soon.
Until next time,
Kylie.
Hello friends. Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today. It’s Kylie with you, sharing a new layout I completed recently. I’ve taken a step back in time and have used one of my favourite past collections, ‘More Than Words’ . I’ve also used a very pretty cut file which has been designed by my DT friend Gwen, from Cut To You. Together, both elements created a very soft and girly layout.
For my background I trimmed 2 cm off each side of the ‘TREASURE’ paper and backed it with a slightly larger piece of white card stock from my stash, making sure I distressed all edges a little for texture. I then adhered them centred to a piece of the ‘GOSSAMER’ paper. For effect I added a free hand drawn border with a fine tip black marker as well as a small cluster of embellishments to the top left corner. As I had a page design in mind I knew this small cluster would give a nice balance to my finished design.
Once I had cut my cut file, I backed just the Butterfly’s and adhered it to the lower right corner of my page. I wanted the cut file to be more of a background element for my page which is why I didn’t back the flowers of the design. Once in place, my photo was added and I began layering some pretty floral die cuts over the top.I used some foam tape for some so that they would sit higher than others, creating dimension.
To finish my page I chose some of the chipboard stickers as a title. Nothing beats a large title for a page don’t you think? I love the effect of having the non backed cut file underneath. It kind of looks like paper lace work.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing my layout today. Sometimes it is nice to pull out your stash of past kits when they have been in storage for a while to create something brand new! I hope my page today has given you a little inspiration.
Until next time,
Kylie.
Hello dear friends! It’s Kylie with you all again today, sharing a new layout I have just completed. Since it’s Mother’s Day here in Australia today, I thought it would be fitting to share a layout of that theme. I decided to use some of my Bohemian Dream stash and have combined it with a beautiful cut file which has been designed by lovely design team member Gwen, of Cut to You.
The cut file had two frames amongst leaves which were backed with the Wild and Free paper. For one frame I have fussy cut the gorgeous dream catcher 3 x 4 card from the Boho Bits paper and I have added my photo to the lower frame.Once it was all backed I adhered it to the Kaleidoscope paper with foam tape.I like the dimension and effect it gives to my layout, having it sit up from the background. For some extra colour I added two 1.5cm strips of Flower Child paper to each vertical side.
I really love to layer together different embellishments for texture and dimension. I have used the chipboard stickers, vellum accents and die cuts to support and balance my layout. Some have had foam tape added to raise them, giving a lovely natural flow.
Large titles can make such a beautiful impact to a layout. I selected the ‘Dream Big’ phrase chipboard stickers and added them to the lower side of my page. Once completed, I went back and added some of the chipboard hearts as well as a vellum butterfly to finish off my page.
Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you have enjoyed seeing my latest design and it gives you a little inspiration for your own scrapbooking.
Until next time, happy scrapping!
