It’s Sophie with you today and I am thrilled to share my layout inspired by the May challenge!
The challenge this month is called “Flower Frenzy”: Using flowers as the main design element of a layout… The more the better…!
I used the Sunkissed collection for this colorful page and went with big floral clusters all around my black and white photo.
I drew a few flowers on three A5 patterned papers, cut them out and hand stitched on each petal. They served as a background for the flowers and leaves that are from the Sunkissed floral ephemera pack.It adds texture and depth to the clusters, and even though it’s very bold and colorful, it doesn’t compete with the black and white photo, that still stays the star of the page.
I teared a big chunk of the “Feelin’ Fine” paper and placed it on the upper part of the layout. I fussy cut a few clouds out of the “Just Chillin’” paper and used some Clear Stickers for my title.
Here are more close-ups:
It’s a very simple page with only beautiful florals as embellishments, and I love it!!
I hope you do too!!
You have the whole month of May to participate in this floral challenge. You can use any Cocoa Vanilla Studio collection, as they all have a huge amount of gorgeous flowers that can be used.
It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new layout inspired by the new April challenge to include a big rainbow as the main element on your layout. I decided to go with a non-traditional rainbow and created my own using various papers from the Boys Rule collection.
The new monthly challenge for April is to include a BIG rainbow as the main design element on your layout.
To help create the arches of the rainbow, I used various sized dinner plates and traced around the tops of them on the different patterned papers I chose from the Boys Rule collection. I chose these following papers from the Boys Rule collection: ‘Fun and Games’, ‘Straight and Narrow’, ‘Entitled’, ‘Expressionist’ and ‘Star Fall’. I then arranged them on a plain white cardstock background and adhered them down. I trimmed the white cardstock down to measure roughly 11′ x 11′ and adhered it to the ‘Boys Stuff’ patterned paper. I then machine-stitched each individual colour in the rainbow with matching thread.
At the base of the rainbow, I adhered a strip of the ‘Straight and Narrow’ paper horizontally to add another layer to my layout. I added craft foam underneath my photo and placed it over on the right side of my page, I layered the frame and journal spot from the ephemera pack tucked in on the left hand side of the photo, on top of the photo I added one of the banner stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet. My title is from the chipboard pack, I love these words! I added the ‘You’ and ‘Are’ words at the top of the rainbow and the ‘Awesome’ word under the photo. Either side of the ‘Awesome’ word, I added the scalloped border sticker from the Clear Sticker sheet. Above the photo, I added one of the banner stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet. I punched out some stars from the ‘Happy Go Lucky’ paperand then layered some of the star stickers over the top. I placed a few of these around my page.
Once I was happy with how the larger elements were placed on my layout, I started adding some smaller embellishments including more clear stickers, more accessory stickers and some more ephemera also. One of my signature features on my layouts is to stamp the date of when the photo was taken and this layout is no exception, I stamped the date stamp using some black ink.
I don’t often journal on my pages so I love the phrase and word stickers from the accessory sticker sheet. I add them to all of my Cocoa Vanilla layouts, where I can, to help tell the story. Boy layouts are one of my favourite projects to create and this one was so much fun to create! I really love how it turned out too. Make sure you create a layout and add a big rainbow element as your main design feature and share it with us by uploading it to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Community Facebook page.
Thank you so much for stopping by the Cocoa Vanilla blog today! I hope you enjoyed reading about how I created my layout as much as I enjoyed creating it!
Hello everyone! Summer is in full swing in Europe and we are having a lot of sun and warmth. Sometimes even too much for my liking. However, it’s still better than being constantly cold, right? We have a perfect theme for this week over CVS blog and it’s FUN IN THE SUN. And you know I love all the colorful, summer collections and projects! I reached for an older “Sunkissed” collection as it seemed perfect for this job. I still have plenty of papers and some embellishments and I need to squeeze it as much as possible. I think I will have to make a “leftover album” too to finish it of.
I picked a navy paper called “Bright side” and cut a decorative circle with words using my digital die cutting machine. It says “summer fun” all around! I was looking for a perfect background paper but all the ones I got left didn’t match so I took a white cardstock and two Distress Oxide inks: Picked raspberry and Salty ocean and created ombre, circlular effect. My inspiration for the colors came from a swimsuit of my daughter. I didn’t place the circle direclty in the middle, setting it off to one of the corners.
I scrapbooked joyful photos of my daughters riding a waterslide during one of our summer holidays. They were running up and down to slide as many times as possible. They even held a competition who will slide faster. And I was there with the camera as good mamarazzi! My Ephemera Pack is already half empty but I still managed to find two swimsuits in matching colors! Lucky me! I also searched for flowers in pink and blue in my Floral Ephemera Pack.
I also have few Puffy Stickers left so I added them around the photos. The same with Wood Epoxy Button!
This collection also includes beautiful Clear Stickers and I used few of them to embellish the background. You need to be careful with using them of colorful backgrounds as they may change the color, influenced by the one dehind them.
I had so much fun making this page and I love this navy, pink and blue color palette! I must reach for it more often.
That is all for today. I hope you will find some inspiration in my page for all your “fun in the sun” projects!. Thank you so much for sticking out with me and see you in August!
Hello Cocoa Vanilla fans. It’s Anna here with another (and probably my last ever) inspiration made with wonderful “These days” collection. Using whatever I have left from this line I created a mini album. This is my favorite way of “killing” the collection as it uses up the most of papers and random embellishements. I am left with wonderful album, ready to add the photos or be given as a handmade gift.
Album itself measures about 12*17 cm and can acommodate 10*15 cm vertical photos and some smaller ones. I made my album base from scratch adding five main pages inside. Cover is a combination of pattern papers and a piece of a false leather with wooden pattern to strengthen up this area, as paper may crack in time from opening and closing the album. I also added a row of paper flowers from Flower ephemera Pack as a decoration of the cover. This collection has a strong “family bonding” theme so I decided to dedicate it for all the moments spend together, hence the FAMILY TIME MEMORIES title. It’s a combination of black Foam Title Sticker and Accessory Sticker.
Inner part of front cover is decorated with two 3*4 cards from Pocket Cards set. I used up a lot of them while making this album. They are great for journaling but also for fussy cutting some extra elements for decorating pages. Doodly frames from Ephemera pack from the first page are mounted with a piece of foam tape and you can slip photo under each of them.
I like adding extra flaps, pockets and inserts to my album and each page has some interactive elements. They are hard to be shown on photos, but believe me – they are there. Thanks to that, album can hold many, many photos. Most of the decorative elements are placed in the cornes with glue added only near the corner so you can tuck the photos behind them too!
Each page is also a pocket with even more space for extra photos or hidden journaling. I also added a waterfall page, that will be perfect for adding multiply smaller, horizontal pictures. You can fit even 14 of them on a single page! I decorated the flaps using all sort of embellishments: Accessory stickers, Ephemera pieces, Flower ephemera, Clear stickers and Puffy stickers.
For decorating my pages I not only used 12*12 papers but also almost the whole 6*8 paper stack that I had left. I also turned some of the paper scraps into smaller tags and pocket fillers so nothing was going to be wasted!
As a page bases I used regular kraft cardstock that corresponds really well with “These days” collection. Whenever I can, I always prefer kraft cardstock over white one while making albums. It seems so decorative by itself and it makes embellishments pop more.
I turned my last page into a big pocket for extra keepsakes and photos so whoever will be using this album in the future will have even more possibilities to customize it.
After finishing this project I could throw away few empty sheets of stickers and other empty packs. I don’t know why but it’s such a pleasure for me to use up something to the very last bit. Do you feel similar finishing an embellishment pack or it’s only me?
There are still many elements from THESE DAYS collection waiting for you in CVS Store in a crazy low prices! Grab them quickly because when they are gone, they are gone forever!
Thank you so much for sticking out with me and see you in April!
Hi everyone, its Melissa here and I’m back today with another layout that I created with the beautiful These Days collection. This collection is still on sale over in the shop, so make sure you head on over and purchase it before its gone! I was in the mood for creating with circles and I created all of these circles using my Cricut Design Space. If you don’t have an electronic die cutting machine you could use a manual die cutting machine, a circle cutter or you could trace around circular items.
This photo is of my eldest daughter in my husband’s relatives pool in January during our summer. The back ground paper is Daybreak and is so beautiful with all of the mixed media-look background. The majority of patterned paper circles were cut from the A5 Paper Stack, and I distressed all of the edges. I stuck some flat to the paper, and placed others on dimensional foam for interest.
Hello everyone. It’s Anna here with my newest layout. As I am waiting impatiently to dive into brand new and recently released new line called “Happy days”, I pulled out some older but still pretty collection from my stash called “These days”. If you do not have it yet, there are still plenty of elements available in CVS store and they have some crazy awesome prizes! So go quickly and grab it while you still can.
I scrapbooked picture I took the same day (totally fresh from the oven!) of my two girls getting ready for a birthday party. They are recently in the phase they both like dark (preferably black) colors so this mama is missing all the pink and pastel photos so much. That’s why using “These days” with it’s muted colors was a great choice.
I started with cutting out big letters from a word PARTY with my digital die cutting machine using “Family ties” paper. This colorful pattern has all the colors present in this collection. I arranged my letters on the white cardstock and used my pencil to gently sketch an outlines of them.
Next step was chosing five different colors of Distress Inks and blending them under each letter stepping out ot the lines a little bit, to create sort of colorful shadow. The final result is very subtle, exaclty how I intended it to be. I still have plenty of flowers in my Floral Ephemera pack, so I picked a few adding them color on color (matching the inky shadow witht the flowers). Before I started glueing them down, I added a layer of foam tape under each letter for more dimension.
I love all the papers with elements that can be fussy cut from them, like flowers or butterflies. I always buy more than one paper and I can make myself plenty of extra ephemera pieces. It can strech your collection so much more. This was the case with beautiful “Take flight” paper filled with butterflies. I cut out few of them and added them on top of the letters. I also reached for Ephemera Pack and found more matching elements to tuck under the letters.
With my title almost done, it was time to finally add my photo. I had a perfect spot in the bottom left corner. Before glueing it down, I backed the picture with cute pattern paper with hearts called “Good life”. All I had to do was to add some smalled puffy stickers, clear stickers and 6*12 stickers here and there. I also finished my title adding word “time” using super cute puffy alpha stickers.
And voila! The page is done. Another memory scrapbooked! That is all for today. Don’t forget about the great discount on “These days” collection, that is waiting for you in CVS Shop! I am sure it’s not the last time I am reaching for this amazing line.
Hi Cocoa Vanilla fans and welcome back to the blog.
It’s Kel here today to share a recent creation …for this page today, I decided to dig out an older collection I have in my stash…Legendary.
I had these photos of my youngest son at his first year of playing soccer and I thought Legendarywould be perfect for this page.
Here is a look at my page…
I had this cut file in my stash of supplies for some time (can’t remember where from sorry!) and I thought it would be perfect for this page. I used a bunch of the papers from the 6×8 paper stackto back the letters in my title.
I also used these papers to back my three photos. I went with a loose grid design… using my title and journaling to fill in the bottom space.
You will see I have designed a visual triangle of embellishments around my photos….top right, over to the bottom right then back over to the bottom left of my photos… this encourages your eyes to move around the page and highlight your photos.
For my embellishing, I have used a mix of products.
Ephemera diecuts… pieces from the cut apart sheet.. and the accessory sticker sheet.
And I just love the painted look these clear stickersgive…. mixed media without the mess. I also used some of the clear stars…I love stars on my boy pages.
I hope you enjoyed seeing my page today and I have inspired you in some way…pull out those older collections if you have them in your stash…dont ‘save’ them… get them into your albums!
Hi Cocoa Vanilla Studio friends! Danni here with a layout featuring our newest collection Storyteller plus a little of an older favourite – the Sunkissed collection. Although these collections are quite different, the pops of bright yellow in both make it really easy to combine the two. They pair beautifully with the yellow shirt my daughter is wearing in my photo!
To begin this layout, I started with a sheet of plain white cardstock and the Brighter Days 12×12 patterned paper. I cut two strips from the patterned paper, one thick and one narrow, then distressed the edges. I adhered both strips to either side of the white cardstock.
Next I matted my photo. To do this I used a combination of the A5 paper stacks from both collections, plus a bright yellow 3×4 double-sided card from Sunkissed. I distressed and tore some of the paper edges for some extra texture, then added the photo over the thicker strip of patterned paper.
For my title I decided the sparkly glitter foam titles from Sunkissed were perfect, so I added ‘sweet days’ right below my photo. I also added a small banner text piece from the die cut ephemera pack in this space. I also used a few of the glitter hearts from the foam titles around my layout to bring in more sparkle!
The floral ephemera from these collections pair really well, especially the blue and yellow tones. I created three floral clusters around my layout; two either side of my photo and one to the left side of the page. I added in a couple of pieces from the die cut ephemera from both collections as well.
For some finishing touches, I added in a couple of the brushstroke effect clear stickers from Sunkissed, plus a few puffy stickers and some tiny word strips from the accessory stickers. I stamped the date with grey ink on one of the ephemera pieces, then added a small sprinkling of ink splatters around my ephemera clusters.
I was surprised with how easy it was to integrate these two very different collections, and I’m in love with the result! Such a bright, happy layout. I hope you enjoyed joining me today. Happy scrapping!
Mandy here today and I have a layout to share using the awesome Legendary collection! This is still one of my favourite collections to use for masculine themed projects, but the layout that I’m sharing today features a photo of my eldest daughter. This has been a year of milestones for her, one of which was getting her Provisional drivers licence. This got me thinking that I hadn’t yet documented the day that she got Learners licence, and so I printed off two photos, one of her holding her ‘L’ plates, and another from the first time she got behind the wheel. I then dug through my CVS stash and decided that the Legendary collection would be the perfect match for these photos!
I chose to use the Offbeat patterned paper as the background for my layout. I love the mixed media look that this gives the page without actually having to get messy! I then cut my title from white cardstock using my Silhouette Cameo and a cut file from Paper Issues. I decided on cutting the inside pieces for each of the words in the title out of a different patterned paper and chose to use the blue Offbeat paper, the yellow Wild One paper, as well as the red cut apart piece from the Total Legend paper. I adhered the white outline of the cut file title directly to the background, and then adhered each of the letters with craft foam to give them some nice dimension.
Next I was ready to add my photos and embellishments. I tucked one of the photos under the bottom left of the title, and the other under the top right. I then layered the woodgrain Outdoors Type patterned paper under both photos to help separate them from the background. I embellished around the photos with die cuts from the Ephemera pack.
Under the photo on the right I also added some Clear Stickers and Accessory Stickers. I love the way the clear stickers almost look like they’ve been stamped onto the page. I also tucked a compass die cut under the top left corner of the photo as I thought this suited the theme of the layout well, and it also balances out the circular die cut at the bottom of the page.
To finish the layout off I scattered around some star die cuts. I added a hand drawn border to the stars to give them some extra detail and to help them pop. I also adhered some with foam tape to add some more dimension to the page. Lastly, I added a few more little phrase stickers and my typed journaling.
Thanks so much for joining me here on the blog today! I hope that you enjoyed taking a look at my layout!
Hi Cocoa Vanilla Studio fans! Danni here with a combination Throwback Thursday and Sketch layout. I was challenged to use a sketch and an older Cocoa Vanilla collection, so I settled on the stunning Sunkissed Collection and this adorable sketch from Lottie Loves Paper.
I love how a sketch can help guide you in a direction that you may not have thought of spontaneously. The rainbow in the sketch reminded me of the Sunny Days 12×12 patterned paper so I used that to make a border around my page. I also added a layer of the pink Growing Wild 12×12 patterned paper behind a piece of white watercolour cardstock, ready for some paint!
Continuing with my inspiration from Sunny Days 12×12 patterned paper, I matched the colours from the rainbows in the pattern by mixing up some acrylic paint, then painted a rainbow on the watercolour paper following the placement in the sketch. Next, I added some pink and gold ink splatters around where my photos would go.
The sketch called for three square photos, so I chose these pics from a day trip and picnic with my family last summer. I decided to trim my smaller photos a little, so they were more rectangular than square, just because they fit a little better on the page that way. I matted my photos using the A5 paper stack and backed them with 3D foam before adhering them down.
I chose a beautiful glittery title from the Foam title stickers and placed it following the sketch, curving it along the top of my hand painted rainbow. It fit just perfectly between my two photo clusters.
Next, I chose a collection of clear stickers, puffy stickers, accessory stickers, floral ephemera, die cut ephemera and wood buttons to create small embellishment clusters around my photos. I placed them roughly in the areas shown in the sketch, but I was pretty flexible in the placement of these.
Finally, I printed my journalling using a typewriter font and cut it into strips, before adhering it down at the base of my rainbow. I had a bit more journalling than the sketch had, so I just brought it up a little higher on the page. There was plenty of extra room, so I was happy with the final placement. And that’s the layout finished! I hope you enjoyed joining me today and happy scrapping!
