Welcome back today friends, it’s Kel back today to share my final post for 2023…and to share my favourite creation from this year.
Going back through all of my pages, my top 3 pages were all from the Happy Days collection…the colours are just so beautiful ad vibrant but I had to choose just one…. and I think it is this one..
I think it’s the colour palette…yellow always makes a page bright and happy, and mixed with aqua and magenta, it’s a chefs kiss.
I love circles in my designs and the pops of black help highlight the colours…
I hope you have all enjoyed the inspiration the design team and I have provided in 2023 and are looking forward to seeing what 2024 brings!
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas… stay safe and enjoy the festivities!
Hello Scrappy Friends! It’s Michelle back here with some more inspiration to share with you all. I’ve made another layout using the beautiful Heart&Homecollection, with yet another bunch of fussy cut florals, perfect for documenting some happy snaps from my Mums recent 70th birthday Celebration.
I had a few photos I wanted to add to this layout so I created a couple of strips in the pic collage app on my phone using the freestyle layout option. I printed them out on a 4×6 size piece of photo paper then trimmed to size. I added both strips to a piece of green print paper from the A5 paper stack and sat them to the side so I could create the floral clusters.
First cluster is up the top right of the layout using pretty florals from both the 12×12 BOUNTIFUL paper, ephemera pieces and the specialty printed vellum. I layered all pieces individually with foam tape for dimension, and glued the tiny flowers on using tacky glue.
I added some accessorystickers to the mix along with minipuffyalphas for a mini title. They really are a cute addition to any layout.
I’ve used more florals from the BOUNTIFUL paper in the larger cluster on the bottom left of the layout with the same mix of ephemera, stickers and vellum to complete the layers. Once I felt this cluster had enough bits n bobs I added the photo strips over the right side using additional foam pieces to prop them up
I created the larger title using GOLDFOILtitlewords and some handwritten journalling underneath. I haven’t added this simple touch to many of my layouts recently, but when I have its really felt complete.
Lastly I added a sprinkling of gold ink around the layout with a few puffydots and hearts then called it a day. Here’s a final look at the entire layout below..
Well thats all from me today, a short but sweet layout share for you all. I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing another floral frenzy creation of mine.
It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am here to share a new scrapbook layout featuring the older but still GORGEOUS Happiness collection! The Happiness collection would have to be one of my absolute favourites by Cocoa Vanilla Studio! I love it sooo much!
The Happiness collection was the perfect collection to document a photo of my son, my Mum and I out exploring recently. We love getting outside and exploring my parents farm together!
I cut out a large cut file from CUT to YOU using white cardstock, I then chose lots of different papers from the A5 paper stack and backed all of the words with a different paper. This does take some time to get everything all backed however I love the end result and all that time it takes is worth it. I adhered the cut file to another sheet of plain white cardstock using regular adhesive, I often use craft foam underneath cut files but this time I didn’t. I trimmed down the cardstock to about 11′ x 11′ and adhered it to the Little Things 12′ x 12′ paper. I then machine stitched a border around the outside edge to create some texture.
Tip: If you only have a small amount of a collection left (mainly papers) and you want to use it up, cutting out a large cut file is a great way to use up some excess papers, you don’t need too many embellishments by doing this either.
I placed my photo over on the right hand side of the layout, I did have to cover up some of the cut file but I knew that and I am ok with that. I layered a paper underneath the photo and one of the round die-cuts from the ephemera pack and also tucked in some of the gorgeous florals in the top right and bottom left corners. The florals in this collection are stunning don’t you agree?!
To help draw the eye towards the photo some more, I added a die-cut heart in the bottom right corner of the photo, a banner sticker to the top right corner and a tab on the left of the photo. On the right hand side, I tucked in one of the circle stickers, above the photo, I placed some phrase stickers and stamped the date stamp. Creating layers gives the layout depth and lots of interest and really draws the eye into the subject of the layout.
To help the readers eye travel around the layout, I added more phrase stickers from the Accessory Sticker Sheet reading from the top of the page to the bottom of the page. These phrase stickers help to tell the story of the photo and are great to use instead of journalling. I don’t like my handwriting at all so these stickers are perfect for me to use for this purpose. I took some of the gorgeous butterfly die-cuts from the Ephemera pack and placed them tone on tone on the layout. I bent up their wings to add dimension and texture.
Thank you so much for stopping by the Cocoa Vanilla blog today! I hope you enjoyed reading about how I created my layout as much as I enjoyed creating it!
Hello Hello, It’s Michelle back here today with a new layout share for you all using the HappyDaysCollection. I went bold with my pattern paper choice for the background of this one and let the rainbow paint strokes of the SunshineLollipops paper shine.
I chose a large cut file design from the CUT to YOU store to use as part of the background design, and it almost became part of the title for the layout. I’ve documented a happy family snap from my birthday a few weeks back, but as it was a ‘quiet’ dinner with family I didn’t think YAY YAY HAPPY WOO TIME was the best option to use, although it does sound quite funny.
I adhered the cutfile to the background using foam tape, giving the design a slight 3d effect.
I printed the photo in black and white so that there was no colour clashing with the background paper and used the frame from the ephemerapack to use as a layering element for this stack. I added fussy cut florals from the A5paperstack in colour blocked groups according to the direction of colours on the background paper
In the top right corner I added a cluster of ephemera pieces and fussycutflorals from the LUSHBLOOMS paper that blended with the top of the background paper
And then created a second cluster in the bottom left with more ephemera, florals and fussy cut pieces. I added the title ‘My Birthday’ to the journal card using the minipuffyalphas from this collection. So cute and colourful, and so many options for mini titles.
Heres another look at the entire layout, including my usual sprinkling of gold ink to finish it all off. I’m really happy with how colourful this layout turned out, it came together quite quickly which is the best way to create a layout. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of using this collection. It’s bright happy colours and patterns are the absolute best!
Well thats all from me today, thanks so much for stopping by. Be sure to keep sharing all your amazing creations with us in the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Community Group on Facebook, we love to see what you all make!
Hey Hey! It’s Michelle back here with you today and I’ve got a fun creative share for you all. It’s Throwback Thursday today, the day where we throw it back to an old collection from our stash and make something magical. I chose to deep dive back into the These Days collection and came up with 2 layouts using the same design, inspired by quilt blocks.
I’ve been a little obsessed with watching quilting videos of late, and I knew that I should be able to incorporate a quilt block design into a layout, but I never thought they would come together this easy. With a few creative cuts of the 12×12 and A5 papers, I had the backgrounds together in no time at all and ready to document a few recent family photos.
First up is the white star background using white cardstock for the star pieces, and the DAYBREAK paper pieced around the edges of the star for a mixed media effect. I machine stitched around all pieces for added detail.
I layered scraps of A5 papers behind the photo and adhered 0n to the background using foam pieces for dimension. This helps when tucking florals in underneath to give a deeper layered effect.
I used fussy cut florals from the HOME GROWN paper in both 12×12 and A5 paper sizes for the clusters on both layouts with the addition of butterflies from the TAKE FLIGHT papers and a Gold Glitter heart
I used a mix of ephemera pieces, stickers and Foam title stickers to create the title of this layout, mixing in more fussy cut florals to the sides to balance the layout with colours and pretty elements
I really like how this layout came together, so much so that I ended up creating the 2nd layout, this time switching the pattern papers up to be a complimentary mix for the star design and the white cardstock as the edges.
Most of the patterns used for this came from the A5 paper stack, including the piece under the photo and the mini journal sentiment card to the right.
I used all the same elements on this layout as I did the previous, just mixed it up in a different way
The title for this is made up of ephemera pieces “Sweet Picture Perfect Moments” that Ive adhered to the page using foam tape to give it a little pop of dimension. Yes I use this word alot haha its the only way I know to explain what foam tape does lol
Well friends thats all from me today. Thanks so much for stopping by to see my creations. I cant wait to come back in a couple weeks and share my next layout using the amazing NEW Happy Days Collection.
It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new layout featuring the gorgeous new Happy Days collection!
Have you seen the gorgeous new gold foiled specialty paper in this collection? It is soooo beautiful! I knew I had to use it for a layout! I decided to document some dress up photos of my niece, adding a total of 3 photos on this layout!
Make sure you get the specialty paper in your Happy Days collection order, you won’t be disappointed!
I took the gold foiled specialty paper and carefully cut out the centres of the ‘frames’ with my craft knife, leaving just the outline of each ‘frame’. I put the centres aside in case I want to use these on a project in the future. I then took the A5 paper stack and chose 1 of each of the papers from the pack and backed all the spaces in the papers where there were no photos. My title is made up of the gorgeous chipboard alphabet stickers. I placed the title split up so that it helps draw your eye around the layout.
Once all of the spaces were backed, I trimmed down the specialty paper and adhered this piece to the ‘B’ side of the ‘Definitive’ paper to frame the entire layout. I chose a variety of the beautiful embellishments in the collection to embellish each of the ‘frames’ including die-cuts from the ephemera pack, enamel hearts and dots, fabric puffy hearts and accessory stickers. Many of the embellishments have been adhered using craft foam underneath to add dimension to the page, I love how the craft foam creates shadows and dimension.
On some of the spaces, I chose to leave the embellishments off as I felt that the paper was enough for that space. You can in the below image, I left them off the rainbow paper and the round butterfly space. I also left the orange and lemon space free of embellishments and the horizontal rectangle at the bottom as well. Some of the spaces only have subtle embellishments such as the round space with the rainbow paper, I have only added 2 enamel hearts to this space.
I love how colourful and bright this collection is and how easy it is to create pretty projects! The collection made this page come together so easily and I love how it turned out! I can’t wait to see what you all create using this beautiful collection! Make sure you get your hands on it soon!
Thank you so much for stopping by the Cocoa Vanilla blog today! I hope you enjoyed reading about how I created my layout as much as I enjoyed creating it!
It’s Tarrah back with you today, I hope you are enjoying Easter celebrations with loved ones! I was given the theme of Easter for my project this week and have created a scrapbook layout featuring the gorgeous Happiness collection! The Happiness collection is so beautiful and perfect for my Easter themed layout documenting a sweet photo of my niece from last Easter!
I chose the gorgeous woodgrain paper from the Happiness collection for my background and trimmed down a piece of white cardstock to measure 11′ x 11′ adhering this on top of the woodgrain paper. I then machine stitched a border around the edge to add some texture and interest. Next I cut out a pretty floral Easter egg cut file from CUT to YOU from white cardstock also. I did attempt to machine stitch the very fine egg outline of the cut file, however it did not go that well with how thin this piece was. I took the A5 paper stack and chose some pretty papers from it to back the flowers and leaves in the cut file with. This was the most time consuming part of this layout but I LOVE how it looks. Once the flowers and leaves were all backed, I added craft foam to the underneath and adhered it in the centre of the white cardstock background. The thin outline of the egg, I did adhere this flat to the background as any sort of foam adhesive would have been visible.
I wanted to add a little bit of mixed media ( I know! Shock!) but not too much so I took a fine paintbrush and dipped it into my Tumbled Glass distress Oxide ink and painted around the outline of the egg shape on the right. I also added some water and the ink on some plastic packaging and did some small mist drops around the edge in 3 colours: Tumbled Glass, Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick. I love how the subtle misting and painting looks to define the cut file a bit more. One thing I love about cut files is, that they often help with the design of your page, with this one in particular, my photo placement was obviously going to be to the right of the florals. I adhered my photo to the die-cut frame, tucked in the frame from the Accessory Sticker sheet, added some twine through the hole in the top and then added craft foam underneath the frame to adhere it to my page. I stapled a banner sticker to the top right corner, added the phrase banner at the top and also added my title to the bottom of the frame.
To the left on top of the flowers in the cut file, I added more flowers from the floral ephemera pack, I just LOVE how bright and gorgeous those flowers look! I also added another flower on the right hand side, tucking it in under the frame. I also fussy cut some butterflies out of the ‘B’ side of the woodgrain paper and adhered those on the right as well. I bent up the wings to give the sense of movement and dimension on the layout. I added a heart from the clear sticker sheet here as well. Like with all of my layouts, I like to get the largest elements laid on my pages first and then embellish with smaller things like die-cuts and stickers etc.
My title is made up of the alphabet stickers from the Life is Beautiful collection. At the top of the photo, I tucked in the ‘Fun’ ticket die-cut from the ephemera pack and stamped the date stamp of when the photo was taken. I also added some of the word and phrase stickers from the Accessory sticker sheet around the page to help tell the story of my photo.
Thanks so much for stopping by the Cocoa Vanilla blog today! I hope you enjoyed reading about how I created my layout as much as I enjoyed creating it!
Welcome back to the CVS blog friends…hope you are doing well!
It’s Kellie here, and today I’m sharing a page with this months prompt of ‘Spring.’ For my page, I have used a lot of the ‘Daydream’ collection with a bit of ‘Storyteller’ thrown in…. here it is!
To start my page, I used the paper from ‘Daydream’ that is a white with a black dot….this is a great paper to use as a background as it’s not too busy. Next I decided to look through my cutfiles to see what I had that would help represent spring…and this one from Confessions of a Paper Addict with the suns, rainbows and clouds was perfect! To back the cutfile I used a bunch of the papers from both Daydream and Storyteller and added in some plain vellum for the clouds as they give a nice, soft effect. For the centre of the suns, I made some shaker pockets with some yellow/gold sequins.
To add some more colour to my page I used some distress oxides behind different spots of my cutfile to enhance the design.
For my title I used some yellow alphas from my stash and the word ‘Days’ is from the Daydream ephemera. I love using different fonts in my titles!
I love the florals in the Daydream collection so I used these next to my title and on the right hand side of my picture. I also added some butterflies around my page….
I hope you enjoyed my ‘Spring’ inspired page today and you are having fun with your Cocoa Vanilla products.
My page for today’s post is my interpretation of the monthly mood board designed by Melissa Vining…here it is if you haven’t already seen it.. soooo pretty!
For my page, I took inspiration from the flower wreath and those cupcakes. The light yellow and the pink of the cupcakes reminded me of the Daydream collection so I decided that’s what I would use for my page…here it is…
How pretty are the papers in the ‘Daydream’ collection?! I used a variety of them to back my cupcake cutfiles which are from Cut to You. The hearts on the cupcakes are so sweet!
To create my wreath I used the ‘Daisy Days’ paper and cut out the wreath and layered it over the right hand side of my page, then added some florals from the Ephemera pack popped up on foam tape to add some dimension and add fullness to the wreath.
Once I had my photo in position I decided I wanted my title to run down the right hand side of it. I used the word ‘Happy’ from the Ephemera Pack and the word ‘beautiful’ from the ‘Die Cut Titles’ then some gold thickers from my stash to finish it off…. I love using mixed fonts, they add more interest to the page. To fill in some spots around my title I used some of the butterflies and rainbows also from the Ephemera pack and the Accessory Sticker Sheet.
Other ways I added interest was some light ink blending through a stencil and some gold twine…. simple, yet effective!
Thanks for stopping by today, please consider giving the mood board a go, you may surprise yourself with where your imagination takes you!
Today I have another layout made with the gorgeous ‘Storyteller’ collection.
For my layout today I wanted to incorporate alot of the patterned papers as a base for my background.
I started with the ‘Oh my Heart’ paper as a base for my page. While this paper is gorgeous, I needed to add something with it to tone down the busyness that would then allow my pictures shine. I decided the subtle yellow paper ‘Little Love’ would be a great addition so decided to add it on an angle …this really add an interesting format to my page.
i have used two pictures of my hubby and I today, both set at a slight angle. I used a small strip of the navy patterned paper from the ‘A5 paper stack’ to ground my photos to the page.
I decided i wanted my title to sit directly under my photo on the left and I used some of the black ‘Foam title stickers’ for this…..LOVE!
I really want to make a focus of the florals on my page so I used a mixture of the florals from the ‘Floral Ephemera’ pack and some fussy cut ones from the ‘Spring Fling’ paper. I put these to the top left and bottom right of my photos and had a few flowing down around my title.
To finish of the bottom of my page I added some of the ‘chipboard pieces’ ….butterflies and hearts for the win! Not to mention some of the ‘puffy stickers’…these hearts are perfect, I could add them to anything! To add some interest above my photos, I used a few of the stickers from the ‘Accessory Sticker Sheet’….perfect sentiments!
I hope you enjoyed todays share and you are enjoying the new Storyteller collection as much as I am!
