Fun Times | Great Escape | Rachel Lowe

Welcome to my my second layout created using the new fab Great Escape collection. I have scrapped a photo of son number two (I have three!!!) sitting in front of a rusting old car.

I chose this fab star cut file from the Silhouette design store and cut it in black to create a contrast. I chose the colourful striped Journey paper for the centre star and the green Direction paper for the outer smaller stars. I added foam tape to some of the smaller stars to create dimension.

I added my 3×5 inch photo which I matted on a paper from the A5 paper stack and added black machine stitching to create a border. I added two stickers to the top of my photo from the Accessory Sticker sheet. I went back and added several of the larger Die Cut Ephemera stars and then Puffy Stickers to the centres.

I then created an embellishments to each side of my photo, how cute is the car with luggage and map, perfect for my photo!

Next I used the Chipboard stickers to create my title, adding FUN to the bottom of my photo and TIMES under the photo, don’t be afraid to mix it up by making your title interesting in placement.

I used Wild Life paper as my background paper but felt it needed a darker contrast so add torn notebook edge (cut file from the Silhouette Design store) using Starry Night paper and finished off by adding black sitting to these.

This is a ‘busy’ layout for me but I love how it turned out!

Great Outdoors | Great Escape Collection | Rachel Lowe

Hello and welcome to my first layout created with the fabulous new collection Great Escape!

I love this photo of my eldest boy and his puppy (which of course when he moved out we ended having lol!!!) and knew it would fit perfectly with this collection.

I found this great cut file in the Silhouette design store and went from there. I used the Starry Night paper as the background piece to create the illusion of the sky and then Journey paper for the trees. I added the tree paper piece with foam tape to add dimension. Before adding this to my white cardstock which is cut at 10×10 inches I added a paint wash background.

And now for the fun part, embellishing! I added my photo which is a 6×4 inch landscape photo. I did my title at this point using the Foam Title Stickers. I then set about creating three embellishment clusters around my photo.

I added black stars from the Foam Title Stickers sheet, ephemera die cut pack and puffy sticker sheet. This adds varying textures to your layout and prevents it from look ‘flat’.

I layered die cuts both under and over the green tree cut file. Here you can see I added a phrase sentiment over the combi van and how I added the Out and About flag behind the tree cut file.

Don’t be afraid to add elements on your photo, it is a great way to tie everything together and as you can see here it does not distract from my actual photo.

Lastly I covered my photo with a scrap piece of paper to protect it and splattered the blue paint wash over my layout. I used another phrase sentiment as my sub journalling from the Accessory Sticker sheet.

I love how this turned out. The colours of this collection are perfect for any outdoor themed layout you want to create!

Hello Cool Kid | No Limits collection | Josefine van der Hoeven

Hello Paperlovers,
How lovely of you to visit the Cocoa Vanilla blog today I love to see you here. For this boy themed layout I really wanted to work with the fantastic collection “No Limits” 
This photo of my son is from quite a few years ago but the colors and his cute little face fit this collection wonderfully well. For this layout I was inspired by a sketch by Lottie Loves Paper that I found on Pinterest. I love using a sketch. It can give you just that creative push you need at that moment.
I took a 12×12 white cardstock paper and choose six of my fave design papers form the “No Limits” collection. I cut out six 3-inch circles and provide the edges of the circles with a stitch edge. I choose white sewing thread and use my sewing machine. Then I cut a half circle in the circles and fold them over. See picture…..
As also shown on the sketch, I am stitching a grid pattern on my layout. I choose dark blue sewing thread for the grid design. The dark blue is also reflected in the title as in the photo.
I cut two larger circles from the patterned paper and stitch the edges with white sewing thread. I also cut my son’s picture into a circle and place the circles on top of each other.

I fussy cut several stars from the pattern paper and created a cluster of stars on the top right and bottom left of the layout. In this way, I create a diagonal design.
The awesome bold and cool words from the die-cut titles are perfect to use for a title. The title for this layout will be ” Hello Cool Kid” under the die-cut title I fold some extra dark blue sewing thread.
I complete the title with some extra word strips that I added with a black line by using my fine liner.

I placed a few extra embellishments like wooden buttons, puffy stickers and cardstock embellishments to decorate my boys layout. Finally I give my layout some white gesso splatters. And for a little more color I add some dark blue splashes. I choose the color Distress Oxide “faded jeans” I love ink and gesso splatters on my projects. It looks festive and creative and I love that so much!

You are Awesome | Storyteller collection | Kellie Moore

Hello everyone and welcome back to the Cocoa Vanilla blog.

Today I’m sharing my first page using the new ‘Storyteller’ collection and it was so fun and overwhelming to jump into a brand new collection with so many things to choose from ….does anyone else have trouble making decisions when faced with ALL the choices?!

First, I decided on the ‘Cross it off ‘ paper to use as my base…I love a subtle grid for a background.

I decided to use a cutfile for my title so pulled out the A5 paper stack to back the letters….no having to cut into the 12×12 papers!! To help make the white of the cutfile stand out I added another  piece of the ‘Cross it Off’ paper behind it.

To give some dimension, I added foam tape behind my title.

I loved these pics of my son from several years ago being a ham in front of the camera and his clothes were a perfect match for this collection. As they were action shots I decided to cut my photos into silhouettes so they added a fun element to my page. Next I chose a frame the Diecut ephemera pack to add under my sons pic to ground his photo to the page, and stop it look like he was floating.

I love the cameras in this collection and added one between my photos. To add some texture to my camera I added the inside of a ‘Wooden Button’ to the lens… I like the pop of yellow! I also added a sticker from the ‘Accessory Sticker Sheet.’

Give me all the puffy stickers in a collection, and the hearts and dots in this range wont disappoint you….so fun! I added some either side of my two photos.

I hope you enjoyed my page today and are looking forward to getting this collection in you hands…it’s not too far away now!

OUTDOOR ADVENTURE | JOSEFINE VD HOEVEN | LEGENDARY COLLECTION

Hello Paperlovers,

Welcome to the Cocoa Vanilla blog! It’s Josefine here today with a new scrapbook layout for you. I absolutely love the new No Limits collection! and can’t wait to play with it. I was so inspired by the colors that I wanted to create a cool boys layout for this blog. So I took Legendary out of my stash to create a mixed media layout with a winter touch.

I draw a circle in the center of the layout and with Distress Oxide I created a mixed media background. I used a background stamp that looks like a splatter and stamp several times with the distress oxide in a circle on the background.I mixed the ink with water to create a watercolor look. With a. thin round brush I splatter with the ink on the mixed media background. I really love the effect of splatters on my layout. The color I used is “faded Jeans”

I used two cut files on this layout. The deer in the background I cut out twice and glued half on top of each other. The cut file is from the Cricut design studio. The “Outdoor Adventure” title is a cut file from Cut to You. I cut a circle from the design paper and stitch the edges with brown sewing thread. I place the circle in the center of the mixed media background. I placed the deer on top and cut some design paper to size and glued it behind my son’s photo. I placed the design papers with the photo on top of the cutfile. I use 3D foam to create more dimension.

I make a cluster of die-cuts and word strips on both sides of the photo. I stitched the words “So Epic” in the middle. I colored the cutfile title with a green Distress Oxide color. The color I used for that is “Peeled paint” I cut out several stars from the design paper and placed them in different places on my layout.

 

I attached the stars with 3D tape. I like the way the stars. stand out a little from the background. I mix the white gesso with water and with a thin brush I make white gesso splatters on my layout. I like the effect. I think Legendary is a great collection with pretty cool colors. I am so happy that No Limits will be the next wonderful boys collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio!
