It’s Sophie on the blog today with a mood board inspired layout!

 

Have you seen the November challenge? Niki Rowland designed a gorgeous mood board named “Grateful” this month. Here it is:

 

I used the These Days collection for my page, and was inspired by the warm orange and yellow tones of the board, the beautiful flowers on the left lower image, the sewing on the top right image and the heartfelt love on the top left image.

The photo of my two fur babies on a crisp sunny morning is so precious and was the perfect photo to illustrate the theme of the board.

I centered it on a 12×12 white cardstock, added two strips of patterned paper on the top and bottom parts of the layout and handstitched two horizontal lines with green thread.

I selected two pocket cards, added stitches to them and placed them on each side of the photo for my subtitle and journaling.

My title comes from the Foam Title Stickers from the collection.

 

I added embellishments from the Ephemera pack, the floral die cuts pack, a few phrase stickers and two fussy cut butterflies.

Fun Days | Happy Days Collection | Kellie Moore

Hi Everyone, welcome back to the Cocoa Vanilla blog, it’s Kel here today to share a page using the Happy Days collection with you. I LOVE the bright colours of this collection, they make me so happy.

For todays layout I decided to pull out some watercolours and create my own background..here is my page…

I created a diamond type shape with the watercolour in a magenta colour found in the collection for the base of my photo and added some splatters in yellow.

For my photo I added some paper layers from the a5 paper stack as well as some black cardstock to help my photo pop. Next I created a cluster above my photo creating a tag, a frame from the Ephemera pack and a sticker from the Accessory Sticker sheet.

I felt that the cluster needed something else so I cut a sun out from the ‘Feel Good’ paper and added some hand stitched rays..

Before sticking my photo down I added some quaze to add texture to the layout..

I pulled out the Chipboard Titles for my page title and placed them directly under my photo.. and added a rainbow from the Ephemera pack underneath..

My finishing touches was to add some stamping around the page, I love the black contrast with the watercolour..

You’re Cool | No Limits collection | Mandy Melville

Hello everyone!

Mandy here today for Throwback Thursday! I’m always a fan of using up my stash and giving an older collection a new lease on life, so I was excited to create a layout for the Throwback Thursday feature this month! I was in the mood to create a masculine page and wanted to document a photo of my son swimming in the pool on a recent family holiday. The No Limits collection was, as always, perfect for this! I’ve used this collection to document photos of my son when he was a toddler, right through to photos of my hubby, and everything in between. It’s so versatile, and I especially love the bright and vibrant colours!

I started by trimming the Eclipse patterned paper down to 10 inches square, and then adhering it to a sheet of white cardstock. This gave the layout a fun patchwork style look, and added lots of interest and colour to the background without much effort at all. I then chose a paper from the A5 paper Stack, and added some machine stitching around the edge before adhering it the middle of the page. This provided a matt for my photo, helping it to stand out and be separated from the background.

For my embellishing I decided to focus on the circular elements in the collection. I chose items from the accessory stickers, die cut ephemera, chipboard stickers and wood epoxy buttons, and arranged them from the bottom left hand corner of the layout, through to the top right. The diagonal flow of the embellishments helps to draw the viewers eye to the photo and title.

The repetition of the circular shape throughout helps to give the layout a cohesive feel, while the different textures, colours and sizes of each embellishment add interest to the page. I also added a sprinkling of chipboard stars to the page which provides another fun element.

For my title I wanted to use the Die Cut Titles, as I love the fun bold font! I decided on the phrase ‘You’re Cool’, which I think worked perfectly for this page! It not only describes my son’s ‘cool’ personality, but also references the fact that he ‘cooling’ off in the pool! I adhered my title with foam tape to help it to really pop off the page!

Love This | Heart & Home collection | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends!

It’s Tarrah back with you today to share a new layout featuring the gorgeous Heart & Home collection.

The Heart & Home collection is perfect for documenting photos of family. I took this photo of my parents recently at the airport before my Mum was leaving for England. I just love this photo of the 2 of them.

I started with a plain white cardstock background and chose a free quilt design cut file by Paige Evans as one of the features for my layout. I cut the cut file out from the ‘B’ side of the Framed paper and love how the wood grain looks against the white. With the bigger frame piece, I adhered the white cardstock on top of this piece and then machine stitched a border around the outside to add some texture. I then took the A5 paper stack and backed some of the open spaces. I adhered my photo on the right hand side of the page using craft foam and added one of the cardstock frames from the ephemera pack over the photo. I also tucked in one of the florals underneath, I love how you can see the different dimension I created here.

My title is made up of the gorgeous gold foil cardstock titles and I placed the title on the left of the photo using craft foam for dimension too. I layered one of the small phrase pieces from the Gather paper over the top of the title. On the right of the photo, I added more die-cut pieces from the ephemera pack and also added a puffy heart here as well.  At the top of the frame I added one of the phrase stickers from Accessory sticker sheet and also placed one of the banner stickers also from the Accessory sticker sheet at the bottom of the photo and layered a puffy heart over top of the heart on the sticker.

Next up it was time to add some more embellishments. I decided to add some of the stickers from the Accessory sticker sheet, adding 2 of the square ones to the square shapes in the cut file. I also added some more of the smaller die-cut pieces from the ephemera pack to some of the open spaces in the cut file as well. Some of them I added craft foam to underneath and some I placed flat on the page. I love the different levels of dimension not to mention the shadows this creates on a project. Lastly I added some more of the super cute puffy hearts and stamped the date stamp of when the photo was taken to finish off the layout.

I love how Cocoa Vanilla collections co-ordinate! It is so easy to create pretty projects with their gorgeous collections, I highly recommend you get the Heart & Home collection for your family memory keeping, it has perfect elements to help capture those all important memories and to tell your stories.

Beautiful You | Heart & Home Collection | Michelle Stokes

Hello Hello! It’s Michelle back here today with a new layout share featuring the Beautiful Heart & Home Collection. For this layout I set myself a challenge to only use the florals with the floral ephemera pack and a multitude of pattern papers in a circular design. Lets take a look at how I went

I started off by punching circles with a hand punch out of 12 different pattern papers, mostly from the A5 paper stack with a couple of 12×12. I arranged them in a circular design on the white cardstock background, which was giving me clock face vibes, just without the numbers. Each piece had the edge distressed for a little texture before adhering with foam tape to give dimension.

I actually worked backwards in my process from here on out, creating the title cluster first before adhering a photo to the page

For this cluster I used the word Beautiful from the Gold Foil Title that is adhered using foam for a little extra pop, some mini puffy alphas that I used in 1 colour only, some florals from the floral ephemera pack, and fussy cut pieces from the printed vellum and Bountiful paper.

Next up I created this large cluster of florals, ephemera and vellum using both foam and sticky dots for different heights of layers and dimension.

I created the other large cluster on the left side of the layout using similar elements to the other groups to keep things cohesive and balanced, then added the photo to the right.

I printed the photo in 3x3inch size and adhered to a piece of the woodgrain paper from this collection and adhered to the layout using foam to raise it off the background, enabling me to layer within the clustered pieces. It’s an older photo of Leila that I’m sure I’ve used and shared before, but its too sweet to not share again.

Here’s a photo that shows the dimension achieved using different forms of adhesives like foam tape, foam sheets and glue dots.

I added some mini puffy enamel shapes around the clusters, sprinkled some gold ink and dotted some sparkly gold dots here and there with a trusty new mixed media product I purchased at a recent craft show. I added the same medium to some of the florals for a little more sparkle.

Really happy with how this came together as I didn’t have a solid plan, just went with the flow and was content with the process.

Door Hanging | Heart & Home | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends!

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a slightly different project to my normal layouts! I created a heart-shaped door hanging that doubles as a place to add notes and letters using the gorgeous Heart & Home collection. Great idea right?!

I started by having my Silhouette Cameo cut out a heart shape for me from plain white cardstock. I then traced out the shape of various sections of the heart with a variety of the 12′ x 12′ papers including the ‘B’ side of the Framed paper, the ‘B’ side of the Flurry paper and the ‘B’ side of the Harvest paper. Once I had them out all cut out, I machine stitched a border around the outside edge of the entire heart. I did stitch across the 2 pouches horizontally, adding strips of the ‘B’ side of the Gather paper and a strip of vellum. I did only place adhesive on the bottom and the very edges of the pouches to create the openings.

Once the heart and the pouches were constructed, I added a ribbon to the back of the heart and also included a bow at the top. To embellish the door hanging, starting from the top, I added the banner sticker from the Accessory Sticker sheet to the top left corner, adhering it with a staple. I then cut part of the heart strip from the Gather paper and adhered it horizontally, tucking in a tag, I added some twine to the top of the tag, and adhered a phrase banner die-cut with some craft foam. I also placed a heart puffy sticker on the tag.

For the middle section, I added lots of ephemera pieces, including the house which I adhered using craft foam and added a puffy sticker to the house to act as a door handle and a phrase die-cut across the centre of the house. I also added a round die-cut and added a mini paper clip and I placed another die-cut on the left. I also placed another banner sticker and stapled it to adhere it. On the bottom I placed another house die-cut and the title here which is made up the gold cardstock words. I also did the same to this house as I did to the one above, adding a puffy sticker and phrase die-cut. I adhered all of these using craft foam also.

Thankful | Heart & Home Collection | Laura Alberts

Hey y’all! I’m back again with the stunning Heart & Home collection to scrap these two photos of my brick. This is my mark on the university I attended and I am so grateful that I had this opportunity to return to school and finish my degree. To celebrate, I’m scrapping this moment with these rich colors from Heart & Home!

For this layout, I created a fairly simple vertical background and layered my two 3×4″ landscape photos on top of each other with clusters of florals from the icon ephemera packs tucked into the corners. With a lovely gold die cut title and these tiny fussy cut florals, I gave the page a beautifully detailed finish!

Adding in Nuvo drops was how I gave this simple vertical time to shine. Using white Nuvo on top of the woodgrain paper that edges the background gives it a purpose. The outlining of those strips makes them pop even more!

Good Times | Heart & Home collection | Mandy Melville

Hello everyone!

Mandy here today to share a new layout featuring the stunningly beautiful Heart & Home collection. On this layout I documented a couple of photos of my hubby and I that were taken when we visited a winery recently in Mudgee. We had such a lovely time wine tasting and then having a picnic on the grounds of the winery. The colours in the Heart & Home collection  complemented my photos beautifully, so it was the perfect choice for scrapbooking these photos.

I started with the Golden Fields and the Fall Beauty patterned papers. I cut them both in half diagonally and then adhered them together to create my background. When creating a background like this, it’s best to make sure that one of the patterned papers has a less busy patterned so that your background doesn’t become too busy and overwhelm your photos. Next I matted my photos with the woodgrain paper from the A5 Paper Stack and adhered them at an angle along the join between the two background papers.

Because the background already added so much interest to the page, I wanted to keep the embellishing fairly simple. I decided on adding two floral clusters which were positioned again along that diagonal to draw the viewer’s eye down the page and through the photos. I used a combination of florals that I fussy cut out of the Bountiful paper, along with Die Cut and Floral Ephemera. I used foam tape to give the clusters some dimension and I avoided adding adhesive to the leaves so that they would lift nicely off the page.

I kept to a warm colour palette on this page, choosing the reds, pinks and oranges, and making sure to repeat these colours in both clusters to keep them looking balanced. By tucking some flowers under the edge of the photo, and adding others on top, it helps to give the cluster some extra dimension and interest. I also finished off both clusters with some Puffy Stickers.

For my title I couldn’t go past using the gorgeous Gold Foil Titles! I chose the phrase ‘Good Times’ and tucked the words in to the right of the photos. There are so many words in the pack, it makes it so easy to add beautiful titles to your pages! And who doesn’t love a touch of gold?!

Mad as a Hatter | Heart & Home Collection | Michelle Stokes

Hello Hello! It’s Michelle back here again with a new layout share using the newest Collection – Heart & Home. The colours within this collection reminded me of a photo I took recently of Leila for her last Book Week of Primary School so I thought what better moment to document than this one.

I started with a cut file design from CUT to YOU  that I’ve cut out using white cardstock and backed with pattern papers from the A5 paper stack. I used a different pattern in each of the stars, then mixed them up for the strips that shoot out between. I backed the main square with the woodgrain pattern and adhered the cut file piece to the cardstock using double sided foam tape to lift it off the background. I added a splattering of gold ink all over before finishing the page as I wanted to build the remaining embellishments around the splotches

Leila dressed up as the Mad Hatter for her final Book Week parade, and after all the effort we put into her costume, I’m happy to say she won for her class. Yay! We op shopped for most of her outfit items and spent more than we needed to on all the finishing pieces. I created a tea party cake stack with some hat boxes, a tea set and my hot glue gun, sewed a wig onto a top hat and created a sashing of threads. She had a great day, and had lots of compliments for her crazy costume.

I added the photo directly to the cut file piece without adding paper layers below as I felt there was already so much going on in the background. I wanted it to stand out amongst all the colour behind it so I raised it up a little with a piece of foam sheet and layered the ephemera pieces to the top corner.

I added another floral ephemera piece to the bottom , and another to the right of the layout to create a visual triangle of sorts.

I used the negative star pieces from the main cut file to add a little detail to the blank white space around the cut file, mixed in amongst the gold splatters with a couple of accessory stickers, ephemera pieces and puffy shapes

On the larger star of the cut file I added a mini title using the Mini Puffy Alphas. These are the perfect size for creating secondary titles on layouts as they’re not too big to distract from the main title

Which then makes way for the large title using my beloved white Alphabet stickers from quite a few years back. I added machine stitching over the top to ensure they stay adhered for many years to come, but also adds a little extra detail to the layout.

So Thankful | Heart & Home collection | Tarrah McLean

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new scrapbook layout created using the gorgeous Heart & Home collection. For this project, I have taken inspiration from the beautiful October mood board. I have documented an Autumn photo of myself amongst some fallen leaves, I love how my photo goes perfectly with this collection.

October Mood Board

The inspiration I took from the mood board was mostly from the centre image, I decided to replicate the woodgrain circle but added a few other layers of papers underneath to add some interest and to include some more colours. Naturally the colours from the mood board match perfectly with the Heart & Home collection.  I placed most of the elements to the right of the circle also like in the centre image of the mood board.

I created the circles from 3 different papers including the Harvest paper, the Gather paper and the Framed paper. I used the ‘B’ sides of each of each of these papers. I traced 3 different sized dinner plates and free hand cut them out. Once they were cut out, I adhered them layered on top of each other onto some white cardstock and then bent up the edges to add some texture. I trimmed the white cardstock down to measure approximately 11′ x 11′. I then adhered it to the ‘B’ side of the Bountiful patterned paper. Once adhered, I machine-stitched a border around the edges to add some texture.

I layered a paper from the A5 paper stack underneath my photo and adhered it to the right side of the layout using craft foam to add dimension. I layered a frame from the ephemera pack on the left side of the photo and also some small flowers from the floral ephemera pack. On the right of the photo, I added lots of the gorgeous florals also from the floral ephemera pack. If you look closely at the florals, I have added some of the puffy stickers to the centres of the florals also. My title is made up of the gorgeous gold foil cardstock words, I chose the words ‘So Thankful’ and adhered it to the bottom of the photo using craft foam.

To balance out the heaviness of the right side of the layout, I created a cluster of embellishments that mostly included some more of the gorgeous florals. I adhered some flat and adhered some with craft foam to create different heights and dimension. I did add a die-cut that said ‘Everyday Beauty’ here also. Some more phrases were added too including the Happiness Is Homemade banner that I added under the title and the Moment Captured banner die-cut that I adhered on top of the photo. I also added the Joyful Days sticker from the Accessory sticker sheet just above the title. Lastly I added some of the puffy hearts around the page, stamped the date stamp and sprinkled some white mist around.
