Stay Unique | Happiness Collection | Melissa Vining

Hello everyone, its Melissa with you today and I’m so excited because its my first post for CVS!! I’ve created a layout with the gorgeous ‘Happiness’ collection because my Legendary is somewhere in transit, slowed down by the COVID-19 global pandemic. I used the Large Die Cut & Backing Set and decided to be bold (for me) by chain stitching the heart in back embroidery floss.

The photo is of our gorgeous yet cheeky 3 year old daughter Ava.  I’ve been having some fun with the filters on Instagram, and I was so happy that she stayed still for a couple of seconds for me to take this sweet photo.  I used an Instagram Filter and it turned out so sweet! The equivalent photo of me – not so much!!!

The chain stitching took me hours to complete but was worth it for the texture it added to my layout.  I just worked on it in the evenings while I watched Netflix.  I ended up getting into quite the rhythm, and found it very relaxing!

I don’t have much of this collection left because I love it so much, so I embellished with some fussy cut butterflies from both the 12×12 paper and the 6×8 paper stack, resulting in two different sizes of butteries. I created an embellishment cluster around my photo with layered and distressed papers, vellum, stickers and die cuts. I added dimension with craft foam and pop dots.  My final touch was to add Nuvo Dream Drops in Gold Luxe, and some black mist splatters.

Hello Happy | Happiness | Tazhiana

Hello Cocoa Vanilla friends! Today, I have a fun rainbow layout for you featuring the Happiness Collection and a fun stencil and some paints. 

To start this layout, I went through my stash of Happiness papers and created a rainbow of 2 inch strips of paper. Then I pulled out a 9×12 stencil and some coordinating colors of embellishment mousse and brushed them through the stencil to create my background. Once I had the stars blended, I stuck down my strips of paper and ran it through my sewing machine and created a wonky border with some black thread. 

After I had my strips and my stitching done, I went to work creating my embellishment cluster. I matted my photo on a few of the papers from the 6×8 paper pad and then pulled out the ephemera pack and the cardstock stickers. I chose to pop some of the embellishments up on foam while building my clusters and added some die cut pieces at varying heights to add texture and dimension. 

For my title, I used the cardstock title pack and kept it simple with “Hello Happy”. I added another die cut underneath it to add some more color and continue the sentiment and then I scattered some clear stickers across the page to continue the painterly effect and add some more interest to the background. 

This layout was super easy to put together and so much fun to make. I hope you enjoyed it and are inspired to make a rainbow of your own.

 

 

Love You | Happiness | Anita Bownds

Hi there crafty friends, Anita back with you today sharing a pretty floral layout using the happiness collection so today I wanted to do a product focus on my layout using stickers instead of ephemera you would be surprised I only used a few but it looks like I’ve used heaps..
I started off by backing my white cardstock on expressive then using my cameo I set out to cut some cut file out I started with a leaf wreath 243418 from Paige Evans that I cut out in white cardstock and adhered to the middle of my layout then meadow I cut out flowers using layered flower with leaves 311424 the I cut leaves using the same cut file out of frame of mind and to add that pop of dark navy blue I used botanical bliss and another layered flower and leaves cut file 311423 by Paige Evans

 

 

Then I matted my photo of bits of paper papers from the 6×8 and added a few stickers in the layers at the top of my photo and adhered it down inside the wreath to one side
Then I created the flowers by bending them up a little to add dimension and some glitter around the edges to add a bit of sparkle in the center of the big flowers I add the flair and the smaller I popped heart stickers from the accessory stickers and add them around the wreath and photo

 

Then I started tucking in the leaves around the flowers adding the at the top and bottom of my layout
Then using more accessory stickers I added a couple to the top of my photo and some tucked in layers in my photo and in the flower clusters

 

Then I added my title using the cardstock titles
And to add a few more details I added some butterfly’s using the accessory stickers and some scattered hearts using the clear stickers to finish of the layout.

GRADE 5 | UNFORGETTABLE | GWEN WRUCK

Hey Creative friends,

Gwen back on the blog today, I hope you are all well. With the start of the new school year in Australia happening very soon, I thought it would be a fun time to document a sweet photo of my husband taking pictures of our daughter on her first day of Grade 5.

For my page, I was drawn to the ‘Unforgettable’ collection with its stunning florals and the most divine shade of Pink. I also pulled a cut file from CUT to YOU and went about backing the design. To make my title, I’ve used the bright pink of the ‘Unscripted‘ pattern paper for the word ‘Grade’ and then the number ‘5’. The remaining numbers have been backed in the aptly named ‘Glorious‘ paper. I then mounted this entire piece and centred onto a piece of white card from my stash.

Next, it was time to work on my photo mat. I’ve gone with a double mount, the first being with the ‘Story Teller‘ pattern paper, however from the 6×8 paper pad. I’ve used the paper pad here as the print in the design is smaller. I’ve double mounted with some more of the ‘Unscripted‘ pattern paper and added a soft doily from my stash for good measure.

The position of my photo was limited by the fact that I could not cover the number 5 as it was part of my title, so I went with running the key elements of the page down the right-hand side. This way, most of the numbers in the cut file are still showing and I have some space to add some pretty floral elements from the Die Cut Ephemera pack because… well, who wouldn’t want to add some of those to their page :)

I decided on a pretty little cluster in the bottom right-hand corner of my photo as well as a small cluster in the letter ‘D’ of ‘GRADE’ at the top of the page to balance things out. I also could not resist adding some fussy cut butterflies from the ‘Lacewing‘ pattern paper. I just love the tone of the grey ones for this page, such a versatile piece of paper!

I’ve also pulled some elements from the ‘Accessory Sticker’ sheet such as the banner ‘Treasured’ and the typed sentiments which are so fun. Lastly, I’ve added a sprinkle of ‘Enamel Dots‘ in the prettiest shade of mint and called the page done.

Christmas Card and Gift Boxes | Unforgettable | Rachel Lowe

Hey all today I have some Christmas goodies to share. I love creating Christmas gift boxes and bags, because who doesn’t love pretty things!  I have used the gorgeous Unforgettable collection for my Christmas trio.

I created a simple Christmas card using the 6×8 Unforgettable paper pad. I used Sprightly as my background paper measuring at 5×7 inches. I then chose three papers to create the Christmas trees, Story Teller, Glorious and Garland. I used a cut file for my tree’s but these could easily be cut by hand. I added some machine stitching to the curves of each tree piece to add definition. I added white glitter to the Garland (turquoise) pieces. My tree’s were then attached with foam tape to create dimension. I added gold glitter stars and tree trunks because although not a huge fan of bling, Christmas is a time you can add as much as you like right!!!! To finish off I added some tiny flowers from the ephemera die cut pack and a Merry Christmas sticker from my stash.

This Coffee Cup gift box is a cut file by Lori Whitlock, easy to assemble but oh so cute! I filled this one with Lindt Chocolates and it will be a gift for one of my boys teacher. I cut the cup part using the Natural Beauty paper as this provides a great contrast to use brighter coloured paper and embellishments. I cut the coffee cup lid in white cardstock.

 

I used the turquoise strip side of the Sprightly paper to add the coffee cup heat sleeve and then added one of the large floral bunches from the ephemera die cut pack with foam tape.

I added a paper star created using Unscripted paper finished off with a little bling. The Spiral Star is by Lori Whitlock.

To finish off I added one of the bows from the collection to break up the white of the lid. These are so easy to create and perfect for little Christmas treats.

 

And finally to finish off my Christmas trio I created another box, this is a Noodle Box from the Silhouette Design store. The outer box I used Sprightly paper and inside the box I used Glorious. I used the papers from the 6×8 inch paper pad to create the layered flower finished off with an Enamel Dot from the collection. I have filled this treat box with bath bombs.

You don’t need a Christmas collection to create Christmas cards or boxes, I love pink and turquoise as Christmas colours. Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you find a little time in the busy month of December to create.

Hello | Unforgettable Collection | Tarrah McLean

Hi Cocoa Vanilla friends!

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new layout featuring the gorgeous Unforgettable collection!

The colours in the Unforgettable collection are beautiful so I decided to showcase them all on this layout! I pulled out the 6′ x 8′ paper pad and starting using the papers to back a heart cut file available in The Cut Shoppe.  Once the heart design was backed, I added craft foam underneath and adhered it to the black and white spot paper also from the Unforgettable collection. I decided to trim down the black and white spot paper so that I could add the grey chevron paper is a border right around the page. I trimmed this paper down slightly also so that I could add a black cardstock border also.I added my photo of my 2 beautiful nieces slightly to the right of the heart and added a couple pf layers underneath including a paper doily and some more of the 6′ x 8′ papers from the paper pad. I also added one of the tags from the die-cut pack to the left of the photo and I popped up the photo and paper layers to give even more dimension. I pulled out the ‘Hello’ foam title and added it to the bottom of my photo and added a flair button and a phrase die-cut on the left of the photo.The butterflies in this collection are beautiful, quite a few of those made it onto my page also. To further embellish, I added 2 of the black foam hearts, some die-cut hearts and florals, some enamel dots and some of the stickers from the accessory sheet.

MemoryDex Inspiration | Midnight and Happiness | Tazhiana

Hello Cocoa Vanilla family! I’m back with some MemoryDex inspiration for you! I’ve been bitten by the crafting small bug and my favorite part of this system is you get to use up products that you wouldn’t ordinarily use on a layout. If you have a bit of ephemera or a cardstock sticker that you have no idea what to do with, throw it on a memorydex card and instant gratification!

For this project, I decided to use Happiness and Midnight and to make two cards with each collection – one that is textured and dimensional and one that featured a shaker pocket.
To create my shaker pockets, I used my Fuse tool but you can sew the pockets shut or use vellum and good, old fashioned adhesive to create this effect. My sequin mix was quickly thrown together after drawing inspiration from the collections – a rainbow mix for Happiness, and a mix of blues, pinks and silver for Midnight. I actually don’t own the MemoryDex dies but I do have the punch, so I start all my cards with a 4×4 inch base and then punch the bottom to place it in my storage box. In the case of the shaker pockets, I took a 2×4 inch strip, scored it at 1 inch, folded it in half, adhered it to my shaker, and then punched it so the final result was a 4×4 inch card.
To embellish, I grabbed a mishmash of die cuts, cardstock stickers, and chipboard pieces from both collections and layered to my heart’s content.
I did make a tiny envelope for my Happiness piece, I thought it would be fun to add an interesting element and tuck the stickers inside of it so it looked like there were elements escaping.
For my dimensional pieces, I stacked and stacked pieces until my cards have pretty good height and heft.
For my Midnight card, I made a large paper rosette that I layered on top of two doilies. For my rosette, I started with a strip of 1.5×12 inch paper, scored it evert quarter inch, accordion folded it, and then sealed it and pressed it into a circle. I then layered some cardstock stickers and chipboard over the top for more height and dimension, and topped it off with a flair button. This card might be my favorite of the bunch.
For my Happiness card, I started by pleating some crepe paper and layering that under some pleated fabric trim that I had in my stash. I layered that over a tag that I cut from a scrap of paper, added some floral and leaf die cuts, added my title from the cardstock title pack, and then for even more dimension, propped up the label sticker on foam for added height. I then added some cardstock stickers for more interest.
I hope you enjoyed these cards! They were so much fun to make and it’s really easy to try a lot of techniques and embellishments on this smaller scale. I hope you found inspiration here and give scrapping small a try! Till next time, keep it crafty friends.

Love This Layout | Unforgettable | Anita Bownds

Hi there crafty friends,
Anita here with you today sharing a love layout using the beautiful unforgettable collection.. I using a photo of my kitty Kushan, I guess most people wouldn’t know this but he is blind as he had a stroke 3 years ago and has become very clingy to the point he meows all the time and wants to be picked up and hugged or just be close so he like to lay on my legs while I play video games or watch tv…
Ok so for my layout today I was inspired by a plate I have for my ephemera and bits on my desk that has triangles scattered on it so I thought this triangle confetti background cut file from Paige Evans was just perfect.
I used my cameo to cut out the background on white cardstock and back it with black cardstock

 

Then using another cut file from Paige Evans this time the word love I cut with my cameo in white cardstock
And backed the heart with my photo and the rest of the letters with natural beauty from the 6×8 paper pad
Then I added some double sided foam tape to the back a added it in the middle of the layout

 

Then I fussy cut out some flowers from patterned paper glorious to add floral’s around the cut file word
And for the other part of my title I use the word this from the foam title stickers and a few phrase stickers from the accessory stickers to the bottom of the love cut file.
Then I pulled out the ephemera and started adding it around the photo and cut files

 

 

Then to finish off the layout with a few enamel dots at the top and bottom of my layout.

Traveler’s Notebook Spreads | Unforgettable and Happiness Collections | Sue Plumb

Hi everyone! It’s Sue Plumb here continuing on with our focus on traveler’s notebook pages. For today’s post I decided to create my first spread using the recently released, and oh-so-beautiful, ‘Unforgettable’ collection. I had a couple of photos of my sister and I that I printed in black and white, as I thought that despite being two separate pages, that they could work well side by side in my book.

I began with the 6×8″ Paper Stack, as these are the perfect sizes papers for my notebook inserts. I chose the scaled down version of the stunning butterfly Lacewing 12×12″ paper for the base of my pages. I trimmed down my sheet into two pieces and placed one either side of the spine.

On the left side I then added a pink and white striped piece of paper cut from the Pretty Bits 12×12″ cut apart paper. I then adhered my photo and journalling on top. I then worked vertically from the top to the bottom to embellish my page.

At the top I used the our little moments sticker from the Accessory Stickers sheet; followed by the captured word cut from the Story Teller paper; the large butterfly fussy cut from the Pretty Bits paper; and the small heart tab sticker from the Accessory Stickers sheet. I finished along the bottom of the page with the best things in life are free sticker and stamped the date.

I knew I needed to work in a vertical style again on the right page so that the two sides of my spread had cohesion across the design.

I started by adding the every photo has a story quote piece from the 6×8″ Paper Stack; followed by the wood grain piece from the Story Teller paper with my photo and journalling on top. Below that I added the take a photo it will last longer sticker from the Accessory Stickers sheet; then finished off with the cute pink camera from the Die Cut Ephemera pack.

For my second spread, I decided to work with the previously released ‘Happiness’ collection to document some photos of my boys and I on a day out together.

This time I was able to work with the spread as a whole, rather than two separate pages sharing a spread. I started with the 6×8″ Paper Pad, choosing the scaled down version of the Sprinkles paper as the base for my pages. I cut the sheet into two uneven pieces and placed them either side of the spine.

I then added my three photos and my journalling, which I stuck on top of a journal box cut from the Little Things paper. I also added the making memories quote card from the same paper.

Next, I added some floral pieces from the Die Cut Ephemera pack – cutting the largest piece in two and placing in on either side of the spine at the bottom of the page. I also used a couple of single flowers, which I tucked under the edges of my photos.

I then added two small phrase stickers from the Accessory Stickers sheet; and finished off with a few other elements from the ephemera pack – tickets, hearts and the title piece.

Living The Dream | Unforgettable | Tazhiana

Hello Cocoa Vanilla Family and welcome back to the blog! For my assignment this week, I was given the task of documenting in a traveler’s notebook, and considering this is the medium that made me fall in love with scrapbooking, this happened pretty seamlessly. I decided to play with the Unforgettable collection because it’s so delicious and I needed some floral action in my life. I chose to print my photos in black and white so I could use all the colors on my layouts.

For my first spread, I decided to create a sunburst of sorts using triangles I cut out from the 6×8 paper pad. I cut rectangles, then cut those in half to create the triangles and arranged them across the top half of my layout. That was the hard part. The rest of this came together pretty easily!
I chose to mat my photo on just one patterned paper since there were already so many going on in my background and then I popped the large floral element on foam, stuck it on the bottom left of my photo and added the circle die cut right behind it for dimension and interest.
On the left side of my page, I started with a card from the cut apart sheet since it was the same size as my photo, added a floral die cut and then adhered my title – also from the ephemera pack. With traveler’s notebooks, dimension can get out of hand really quickly so I chose to use a flat ephemera piece as my title as opposed to chipboard or foam. I added a single butterfly to the left side and a blue tab element to the right and called this layout done!
For my second project, I knew I wanted to use these branches that I had left over from a previous layout so I started with the pink cardstock background so the white of the cutfile would pop against the background. Then I printed my photos at 2×3 inches and matted them on three papers from the 6×6 patterned paper stack. I used strips of the same patterns on the right side of the spread to carry over the color and patterns and I added two more branches to the right side to continue the theme.
Now we embellish! I used some small elements from the ephemera pack as well as stickers from the accessory pack to add some texture and interest to the photos.
On the right side, I used a piece that I cut from one of the 6×8 patterned papers, layered it over a tag, flower, and butterfly, and added some additional flowers along the branches to tie the whole layout together. A couple of enamel dots on both sides finished off this spread and I am super happy with how both projects came out this week.
