Just So Sweet | These Days collection | Sophie Delorme

Hello Cocoa Vanilla friends !

It’s Sophie on the blog today and I am SO EXCITED to be sharing my very first layout with the amazing These Days collection !!!

 

Ahhh where to start when everything from the collection is so gorgeous ?!

I decided to go with a simple page and wanted to use plenty of different patterned papers.

I cut strips of different width and length of many patterned papers from the collection as well as a few colored cardstock from my stash and curled one end of each strip, turning them around a brush. I aligned them in a horizontal line on the lower third of the page to “ground” the rest of the design.

 

I stitched one or two French Knots with matching embroidery floss on each strip.

 

I used a square photo of Sabrina hugging our dog Fiona (what’s new ?!!). I printed it in color and I think it matches perfectly with the color scheme of the collection. I backed it with tissue paper and adhesive foam and placed it on the right side of the layout.

For my title, I used a beautiful frame from the Die Cut Ephemera pack, added adhesive foam and the B side of the “Home Grown” patterned papers. I used the Mini Puffy Alpha Stickers for “Just So” and the Foam Title Stickers for “Sweet”. I placed it on the upper left side of the photo and added a die cut banner and a few die cut hearts scattered around the title frame.

 

I handwrote my journaling directly on the background cardstock and placed a cute typewrite just next to it.

 

Finally, I added a few floral embellishments and clear stickers and that’s a wrap !

Lovely Days | These Days Collection | Danni Visser

Hello Cocoa Vanilla fans! Danni here with another layout from the gorgeous new These Days collection. Are you enjoying this one as much as I am? I may have a new favourite collection!

I am documenting a couple of photos of myself and my friends, taken last year when we were beginning to be able to get together again after lots of isolation. You can see how happy we all are to see each other! I have recently purchased a new hexagon punch, so I really wanted to play with using lots of punched out shapes on the page.

I punched out a bunch of hexagons from several of the papers from the 12×12 patterned papers and the A5 paper stack, varying between subtle and busy patterns.  I decided on a white cardstock background to really show up the patterns in the papers.

My idea was to use the hexagons almost as a border around the outside edge of the page. To create some extra interest on the plain background I splattered some soft blue, yellow and pink inks around the outer edge of the layout as well. Then I went ahead and laid out my hexagons, varying the placement to create visual interest.

With the hexagons already making a big statement on the layout, I kept the rest quite simple. I matted my photos with the black and white patterned paper from the A5 paper stack and layered them together in the centre. Then I added a lovely large foam title below – these are such a pretty script font!

I used floral ephemera and puffy stickers to create two floral clusters either side of my photos. I included some of the coffee cup die cut ephemera – very appropriate for a café catch up. I used some accessory stickers to tuck in little words and tabs around the edges.

Three of the butterfly die cut ephemera and the beautiful sparkly puffy hearts sprinkled around the page made the perfect finishing touches on this layout. Everything in this collection is so stunning it makes layouts come together so easily and beautifully! I hope you enjoyed joining me today. Happy scrapping!

Making new friends | These Days Layout | Anna Komenda

Hello CVS fans. It’s Anna here with my first ever project made with brand new and totally amazing “These days” collection. It arrived to my doorstep just few days ago and I felt in love with all the papers and embellishments. As always when it comes to cracking new line, I had decission making issues of what I should use first. Luckily, this week we have a product focus over the Pocket Cards or A5 Paper Stacks so it narrowed the choices a little bit. I knew I didn’t want to create any pocket spread as I am not making this kind of albums of regular basis, so I just went through the cards and I chose few with bigger frames. I love using pocket cards as a small samples of pattern papers, perfect for small punches and dies, and as a source of elements for fussy cutting. This time was no exception!

I cut out four whisical frames first and then I started to think of what photos I want to scrapbook with them. Inspired by the butterfly paper I picked three photos of fun bugs we met during our vacation. My girls are a big fans of insects and they are not scared of touching them at all. They even think thes are all “soooo cuuuute” (not me :) ). So I framed three photos in frames and fourth one stayed empty as a perfect spot for the title.

I fussy cut some butterflies from “Take flight” paper and arranged them around the frames on top of my chosen background paper called “Daybreak”. This paper has an artsy frame around it and empty, white inner part – perfect for showcasing my frames. After I placed my butterflies, I marked the little trails with a pencil, move all the elements away and made some simple stitching with colorful thread. It took my a while and it was for sure the longest part of making this page but it was totally worth it.

After the stitching was done, I glued down all the main elements. My title is made with brand new and super fun Mini Puffy Alphabet stickers. They come in a variety of colors and I just love this whimsical font. Just a perfect accent for any layout!

I finished my page adding few bits and pieces from Ephemera pack here and there, three wooden buttons and few puffy stickers. It was a really fast to make page (not counting the stitching) and I totally love the final result. Whimsical frames and furry bugs come perfect together.

Lazy summer Days | Josefine vd Hoeven | Sunkissed collection

Welcome to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog today! So happy to see you It’s Josefine here sharing a new mixed media scrapbook layout with you that I made using the absolutely gorgeous summer collection “Sunkissed” just cant’t get enough of this collection.

For this summer layout I used the pocket page cards the 6×8 paper pad some die-cuts, a wooden button and stickers.The cut file I used is from Cut to you calls ” Lazy summer days” I started with a white sheet of cardstock and start mixing my pink colored distress oxide with a little bit of water and created a big stain in the center of this layout and at the end I splatter with the same color (Kitsch Flamingo)

 

 

I used a 6×8 star design paper sheet and cut it to size in a banner shape. I choose several patterns of pocket page cards and cut them to size and sew them on top of the star design paper using my sewing machine. I placed the two banners in the center of my layout and cut several 6×8 design papers to size and layer them behind the photo. I cut the title “Lazy summer day’s” with my Cricut and colored it with the color “peacock feathers” Distress Oxide and used a blending tool for the ombre effect.

 

I grab several die-cuts, stickers and word strips for decoration. Some die-cuts I sew with gold sewing thread and make clusters on both sides of the banners. At the top of the banners, I use white cotton thread for extra decoration. I sew gold thread through the center of this cutfile and place it under the photo. Finally, I make some white splatters with white acrylic paint for a festive look!

These Days | Little Moments of Joy | Rachel Lowe

I know I say this every time a new CVS collection is released but…..the  These Days collection is my new fav! I wanted to create a ‘family’ themed layout which this collection is perfect for!

I firstly tore a strip for the Neighbourhood paper which creates the theme of ‘family’. I tore two more strips using the Family Ties and The Good Life papers. I am a little obsessed with paper tearing currently, I love the texture it creates and enables you to layer multiple papers no matter what the colours or patterns.

I created an embellishment cluster at the top left of the paper strips, as you can see from my photo I tucked some of the elements under the paper strips. I created a visual scene that coordinated with the Neighbourhood paper. The die cut ephemera has so many gorgeous designs! I added some gold thread under the die butterfly to soften.

After adding my 6×4 inch landscape photo I used one of the Pocket Cards, cutting it down to a square. I added this with foam tape placed slightly over my photo. I just adored this die cut of a mother and child and had to add it to my layout. I finished this embellishment cluster off with a wood epoxy button and butterfly.

To connect my photo to each of the embellishment clusters I added butterflies (with foam tape) in a way that they appear to be flying across my page. I tucked some flowers from the floral die cut ephemra pack and added a word sentiment from the Accessory Sticker sheet.

This collection certainly makes it easy to create wonderful layouts, the colour palette has my heart! I didn’t feel the need to add a cut files as the many embellishments of this collection are many and so varied.

Lovely Memories | Unforgettable Collection | Sophie Delorme

Hello Cocoa Vanilla friends !

It’s Sophie with you today and I am sharing a soft and beautiful layout created with the Unforgettable collection.

 

I started by adding a little bit of aqua watercolor paint on a thick white cardstock where I had planned to put my photo and on the top right side of the page.

I used a rectangle of the “Natural Beauty” patterned paper to ground my photo. I printed this lovely photo of Sabrina in our backyard in black and white to add to the softness of the page. I added tissue paper, adhesive foam and a layer of the “Sprightly” patterned paper behind the photo.

I added a floral cluster on the lower right corner of the photo that comes from the Die Cut Ephemera pack, and created a few watercolor leaves that I fussy cut and included in the cluster. I placed a few Unforgettable Accessory Stickers around it.

 

I added a tag and a camera on the upper right side of the photo.

 

My title is a mix of alphabet stamps from my stash and the word “memories” cut out of the “Story Teller” patterned paper.

 

Finally, I created a little cluster of embellishments on the top right portion of the page, added a beautiful Flair Button next to my photo and a few flying butterflies that I cut out of the gorgeous “Lacewing” patterned paper. Of course, I handwrote my journaling as I do on most of my layouts !

I Speak For the Trees | These Days Collection | Laura Alberts

Hey y’all! Laura here again with a hand-stitched wreath layout using the stunning new These Days collection! I have two photos of my youngest daughter exploring through a tree in our backyard as she often does, finding new and inventive ways to get into the branches. I love the pops of red in the These Days collection that allow me to incorporate these photos seamlessly. This layout features a chain-stitch border and a hand-cut circle in the center that I backed with the Family Ties patterned paper.

I added in clear sticker trees around my titles to accentuate the Dr. Seuss quote I used for my title. These tiny puffy alphas worked perfectly to follow the line of my stitching and add a pop of color at the top of the layout. After fussy cutting the entirety of the Home Grown 12×12 patterned paper, I created a wreath of florals around the side and bottom of my stitched border. Adding in a few butterflies creates the impression of movement and fills in the gaps around the photos.

To finish off this project, I added gold Nuvo dropos for the butterfly trails, splattered gold ink spray around the edges, and popped two of the wood buttons on the edges of my floral clusters. Beyond the florals, I kept the embellishing fairly simple with a tab above the left photo and a word phrase below the right photos, both from the ephemera pack.

Picture Perfect Moments | These Days Collection | Danni Visser

Hello Cocoa Vanilla fans! Danni here sharing my first creation with the incredible ‘These Days’ collection, and I have to say, this is possibly my favourite collection ever! I have been so inspired to create with this one that I had to jump straight in with it. This layout was inspired by the adorable mason jar 3×4 pocket card.

I started with a mason jar cutfile (there are plenty of these available on Etsy) and cut out a white cardstock outline, and solid inside piece using Family Ties 12×12 patterned paper and a lid using grey and silver glitter cardstock. I raised the jar outline and the lid on foam to create a 3D effect.

To create a filled mason jar effect, I printed two small photos and selected all the trees and houses from the die cut ephemera pack. I arranged these within the cutfile jar to echo the design in the 3×4 pocket card. I also added in some tiny houses that I fussy cut from Neighbourhood 12×12 patterned paper and some tiny butterflies fussy cut from the A5 paper stack. These are so perfect for adding those tiny details.

For the background I chose the woodgrain side of Pretty Posies 12×12 patterned paper. I love woodgrain patterns for backgrounds, and it nicely emphasises the rustic country vibe of the mason jar. To create some extra detail I splattered some white acrylic ink all around the outside of the large mason jar.

I couldn’t resist using the mason jar 3×4 pocket card on the layout somewhere, so I fussy cut it out of the card and tucked it to the right of the large mason jar. I layered it with the ‘Picture Perfect Moments’ die cut ephemera piece to use as my title. I love using these smaller pieces for titles when I already have a large statement piece on the page.

To complete the page I added some more fussy cut tiny butterflies from the A5 paper stack, as well as some of the larger butterflies that I fussy cut from Take Flight 12×12 patterned paper. I love the two sizes of these butterflies! It enables you to create so much visual interest by varying sizes on the layout. I also added a smattering of white dimensional drops as a final touch.

Summer Memories | Josefine vd Hoeven | Sunkissed

Hello crafty Paperlovers, Welcome to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Blog today! It’s Josefine here showing you a new scrapbook layout that I created with the beautiful collection Sunkissed. I am completely in love with this beautiful summer collection. Definitely one of my favorite collections ever!

I love circles layouts and wanted to create a circle layout with this beautiful summer collection. I cut out a circle border from the wood grain design paper of the Sunkissed collection and I cut out a circle from the blue/green colored design paper. Both circles I stitched with white sewing thread. I place these circles in the center of this page. I placed my photo on top of the circles in the middle. Around the edges of the circle I stamp several times with the distress oxide and make some mixed media splatters. The color I used is “broken china”.

I selected some flowers, die-cuts and stickers and make a cluster on both sides of the circle. I used the gold glitter puffy word ” Memories” and placed it under the circle. I also choose an aqua colored Alpha set for the word “Summer”. My title for this layout will be ” Summer memories”.

 

I have decorated different die-cuts with gold sewing thread. On top of the picture I placed some die-cuts and word strips. Of course, I also used a wooden button on this layout. I choose to keep this page clean and simple. Now t’s time to add some white and black acrylic paint splatters and use my brush for this. These splashes make it so festive.

I am very happy how this scrapbook layout turned out. I hope I was able to inspire you with this summer layout. I looking forward to seeing your beautiful creations with this awesome summer collection! Wish you a beautiful and crafty day! XoXo, Jo

 

Everyday Family Moments | Daydream | Rachel Lowe

Recently my cat of 18 years passed away. Although she was old it still hurt my heart greatly and when looking back at old photos I realised that I had not taken enough photos of her through the years. We often  take everyday moments for granted and losing her reminded me that photographing and documenting everyday moments is just as important as life highlights. I have used the beautiful Daydream collection and with her being a ginger cat the colours in this collection were perfect.

I found my title in the Silhouette Design Store. I used the off set function (if you have a Silhouette Cameo) to create depth to it and creating light/shade by using these two papers, All A Flutter and Happy Place. I finished off adding some of the tiny flowers from the ephemera die cut pack.

I tore three paper strips from the All A Flutter  Daisy Days and Garden Variety papers. I love the texture torn paper strips gives your layout. As I had chosen a busy paper I chose not to mat my photo (5×6 inches) but adding with foam tape to give it height.

Despite using the floral papers I went ahead and added two floral bunches on each side of my photo, not only does this frame my photo it allows you to layer with foam tape large florals so they stand out. Adding green foliage also adds impact and draws your eye.

I created some journalling by using words from the Accessory Sticker Sheet and the beautiful rainbow flair, I added some gold thread behind the flair to add a little sparkle!

I typed her name and dates slightly under the torn paper strips. (if your wondering why she had a boys name is because we assumed that as ginger cats are mostly boys, the vet later let us know ‘he’ was a ‘she’, a bit late to change the name lol!!) I added some butterflies from the die cut ephemera pack.

I finished my layout off adding one of the beautiful Puffy Hearts with a little more gold thread added.
