Happy | Merry & Bright Collection | Anna Blades

Hi CVS friends!

It’s Anna here with you. I hope you are having a wonderful Christmas surrounded by your loved ones. For today’s project, I’ve created a new layout featuring the “Merry & Bright” collection, full of pinks and greens.

I started with a watercolor sheet, making a mixed media background using pigment powders in this peach color matching the collection. Then, I made splatters in two green tones with dye inks and gold mist.

I choose a picture of me and my little daughter (one of my resolutions for the new year is to take more photos of myself because I’m always behind the camera). I framed it with one of the 3×4 double sided cards and a piece of tissue paper.

Cocoa Vanilla floral die cuts are the best. I would never get tired of using them. So, I created a big floral cluster in the lower-left corner of the picture and another in the upper left corner. Also, I added three puffy stars and a couple of Christmas trees.

Between the two clusters, I placed a lovely flair button with two hearts. Finally, I stacked a sticker from the accessory stickers in the upper right corner of the photo.

To create my title, I fussy cut the word “happy” from the Season’s Greetings paper, and placed it below the floral cluster, raising all the letters with foam squares. Below it, I put another sticker from the accessory stickers. For the final touch, I made a little cluster in the upper right corner of the page with some die cuts from the die cut ephemera pack.

CHRISTMAS MORNING | MERRY AND BRIGHT | GWEN WRUCK

Hi Creative friends, Gwen back on the blog today with a new share and today I’m using the brand new ‘Merry & Bright’ collection.  I’m working with this sweet picture of Miss C on Christmas morning. The colours in the collection were the perfect match for this photo including the gold of the puffy stars. So fun right?!

For the design of this page, I wanted to keep things pretty clean and simple so decided on a centred design with my photo on the left and a large title on the right. The title is a cut file from CUT to YOU which I have backed with pattern papers from the ‘Paper Stack’. I’ve placed these elements onto the ‘Happy Holidays’ pattern paper and then added a frame using the ‘Jingle All the Way’ pattern paper. I love the sweet candy stripe as a border here.

I’ve mounted my photo with the ‘Oh Christmas Tree’ pattern paper, it’s the sweetest shade of green ever! I’ve also added my signature stitching here for added detail.

With the photo and title elements done, it’s time to have some fun adding the embellishments. The embellishment pack for this collection is full of really fun die cuts. For interest and dimension I’ve raised some of them up on foam tape, its a cheap and effective way to give paper die cuts a more layered feel.

For the page, I’ve created three main embellishment clusters, one in the top right hand corner of the photo, the second along the right hand edge of the photo and the third near the ‘R’ in my title ‘DECEMBER’. The three clusters help draw the eye around the page.

I’ve finished the page off with a flair from the ‘Flair pack’ as well as three of the super cute gold puffy stars. These are so fun for Christmas pages AND as it turns out, the perfect shade of gold to match the tinsel on our tree!

Here’s one more close up of the details including the sweet tree die cuts from the ‘Ephemera Pack’.

This Sweet Life | Day Dream | Rachel Lowe

Hi CVS friends Rachel here and I have a pretty layout to share using the beautiful new Day Dream collection.

Not being a mixed media girl I love papers that have done all the work for you! I love how beautiful the SWEET SERENITY paper and it gives you that water colour mixed effect to your layout.

I am scrapping a photo of my DD and have used a fab new cut file by Paige Evans available in the Silhouette Design store. Who doesn’t love an embroidery hoop!

I used DAISY DAYS and SUN SHOWER papers to paper piece the embroidery hoop cut file. I then used foam tape to adhere my photo.

I hand stitched the thread of the cut file to add texture and so it made the embroidery hoop appear more authentic.

I just had to add one of the PUFFY HEARTS because I love them!!! I decided on my title taking the SWEET and LIFE words from the DIE CUT TITLES.

Using the DIE CUT EPHEMERA pack I created two embellishment clusters, one to the right of my photo overlapping the embroidery hoop and the second at the top of the hoop. I layered die cut florals, phrase sentiments and moths, foam tapping some to add dimension.

I tucked a die cut rainbow behind the LIFE word and finished off adding some NUVO clear crystal jewel drops to create shadows on flower petals and leaves, and moths wings.

I really don’t think this layout would have so much visual interest if I used a white background and I certainly enjoyed working with a background paper that didn’t need a thing doing to it!

Wonderful Moments | More Than Words | Kylie Kingham

Hello friends. Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today.It’s Kylie with you, sharing a new layout I completed recently. I’ve taken a step back in time and have used one of my favourite past collections, ‘More Than Words’ . I’ve also used a very pretty cut file which has been designed by my DT friend Gwen, from Cut To You. Together, both elements created a very soft and girly layout.

For my background I trimmed 2 cm off each side of the ‘TREASURE’ paper and backed it with a slightly larger piece of white card stock from my stash, making sure I distressed all edges a little for texture. I then adhered them centred to a piece of the ‘GOSSAMER’ paper.For effect I added a free hand drawn border with a fine tip black marker as well as a small cluster of embellishments to the top left corner.As I had a page design in mind I knew this small cluster would give a nice balance to my finished design.

Once I had cut my cut file, I backed just the Butterfly’s and adhered it to the lower right corner of my page. I wanted the cut file to be more of a background element for my page which is why I didn’t back the flowers of the design. Once in place, my photo was added and I began layering some pretty floral die cuts over the top.I used some foam tape for some so that they would sit higher than others, creating dimension.

To finish my page I chose some of the chipboard stickers as a title. Nothing beats a large title for a page don’t you think? I love the effect of having the non backed cut file underneath.It kind of looks like paper lace work.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing my layout today. Sometimes it is nice to pull out your stash of past kits when they have been in storage for a while to create something brand new! I hope my page today has given you a little inspiration.
