The Perfect Day | Heart and Home Collection | Rachel Lowe

Hi CVS friends, today I am sharing my first layout using the beautiful new collection Heart and Home. I am loving the autumn/fall vibes, so I found some photos of my youngest and I taken in fall with the colours matching perfectly!

Both my chosen cut files, leaves and The Perfect Day, are both from the Silhouette design store. I wanted to create a fall themed background and this leaves cut file is great as its not too ‘busy’ and to ensure some white space remained I only paper pieced some of them. I used the A5 paper pad blue hearts paper for my leaves. I used the Framed paper, wood grain side to cut my large title. I then paper pieced it using Golden Fields paper which has the smaller floral design. I did use foam tape on the large title to add dimension.

I next added two torn paper strips to the top and bottom of my page, using the yellow side of the Gather paper and Leaf Litter paper green side for the bottom strip. In doing this it ties all the elements together. I next added my photos, using a 3×4 inch photo to go under the phrase title and using one of the cute die cut ephemera frames above the phrase title which measures 2×3 inches. Both were added with foam tape.

I added die cut florals to the bottom photo on each side, tucking them under my photo. I added the wood grain phrase sentiment die cut and finished off by adding two heart puffy stickers and a heart tab from the Accessory Sticker sheet. As the top photo frame already had florals I simply added two heart puffy stickers.

I then set about adding finishing touches! I fussy cut some butterflies from the paper in the A5 paper pad and added around my page. I created two small embellishing clusters at the top and bottom torn paper strips. As this page had a lot going on I was careful not to over do the embellishments, sometimes less is more!!!!!

It was great to NOT have to convert my photos to black and white so they match a collection, warm toned photos match perfectly.

Take Two | Daydream and Joyful | Kylie Kingham

Hello scrapping friends! It’s Kylie back with you today with a fun layout to share. Do you like to intermix your collections when scrapbooking?? I know for some that would seem the ultimate sin, which is totally OK! I’d love to share with you all though how it can be fun to do so with some amazing results. So I have a little ‘Take Two’ theme for you today. I created this page combining both the DAYDREAM and JOYFUL collections. When I laid each collection out together, I really loved the mix of colours and patterns together. Even though one is a Christmas themed collection, it still works so well with everyday layouts. I really got sense of a ‘Boho’ vibe, which is what I ran with and included a lovely large flower cut file which was designed by Paige Evans.

A wide variety of different papers were used from both collections to back my cut file. Once that was completed I adhered it to the ‘AFLUTTER’ paper from DAYDREAM with foam adhesive squares. This gave it a nice dimension and texture on the page.Using the ‘STEPPING STONES’ paper also from DAYDREAM, I added a wide decorative edge against the straight side of the cut file.

My photo was cut slightly smaller than its original 6″x 4″ size before being matted and added to the left side of the cut file flower. I then began adhering some of the DAYDREAM floral die cuts until I was happy with the overall balance.To create my page title, I have combined a die cut from DAYDREAM with some of the JOYFUL- PUFFY GOLD TITLE STICKERS

Summer Sun and Fun | Sunkissed collection | Kylie Kingham.

Hello Cocoa Vanilla fans! It’s Kylie back with you all today with a new layout to share. It’s recently turned Spring here in Australia which has me daydreaming about warm sunshine, flowers and believe it or not Summer! My layout today has been inspired by all of these things as well as me wanting to create with cut files. I have always loved a big title and the cut file I am using for this page is just that. It has been designed by Paige Evans and it became the centre focal point of my page. I couldn’t think of a more perfect collection to use other than the ‘SUNKISSED’ collection with is bright Summery vibe.

Once my cut file was cut out I backed the letters with paper from the A5 paper pack and for the sun I used the ‘SUMMER LIGHTS’ paper which gave a beautiful shaded effect. The ‘BRIGHT SIDE’ paper was used as my background page and I adhered some of the ‘JUST CHILLIN’ paper over the top. A border strip from the ‘FUN IN THE SUN’ paper was added across the lower edge of the ‘JUST CHILLIN’ paper too. My cut file was adhered using foam adhesive squares so that it sat up from the background. Once in place I used a white marker pen to draw a freehand border around the outer edge of the page.

My photo was backed with some white tissue paper for a softer edge. It was adhered to the base of the cut file before I started to create some die cut clusters.

Both floral, die cut clusters have been placed opposite to each other on my page design, which helps give a nice balance to the overall page. I was able to build and create layers amongst each floral die cut by using foam adhesive squares on some. To finish my page I added some of the phrase stickers to the lower right side of my page.

These Lovely Days | These Days Collection | Kylie Kingham

Hello everyone! It’s Kylie with you again and the theme for today’s blog post is to create a layout featuring Puffy Phrase and Alpha Stickers. I couldn’t think of a more perfect collection to use for this theme than the brand new ‘These Days’ collection. I wanted to create a very soft and ‘shabby chic’ themed page today, showcasing a variety of different paper prints also.

Six different papers were chosen to form my background. I trimmed some neat squares of each measuring 2″x2″ each and distressed the edges of them all. They were placed in a brickwork formation over a white cardstock background, using foam adhesive tape.

My photo was printed to 4″x 6″ and adhered to the centre of my page with two stacked papers behind, all with distressed edges.More foam adhesive squares were used to help build height and dimension to my page. It also gave the opportunity to add some embellishments amongst the different layers. I SOOO love the Floral die cut pack.

I created a fun title to add to my page using both the super cute Alpha stickers as well as the foam phrase stickers. They were adhered over the top of my photo and created a nice balance for my layout. Once completed my layout had a lot of colour but thanks to the softness of the pastel colour palette it gave a delicate overall finish.

Lazy summer Days | Josefine vd Hoeven | Sunkissed collection

Hello Paperlovers,

Welcome to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog today! So happy to see you It’s Josefine here sharing a new mixed media scrapbook layout with you that I made using the absolutely gorgeous summer collection “Sunkissed” just cant’t get enough of this collection.

For this summer layout I used the pocket page cards the 6×8 paper pad some die-cuts, a wooden button and stickers.The cut file I used is from Cut to you calls ” Lazy summer days” I started with a white sheet of cardstock and start mixing my pink colored distress oxide with a little bit of water and created a big stain in the center of this layout and at the end I splatter with the same color (Kitsch Flamingo)

I used a 6×8 star design paper sheet and cut it to size in a banner shape. I choose several patterns of pocket page cards and cut them to size and sew them on top of the star design paper using my sewing machine. I placed the two banners in the center of my layout and cut several 6×8 design papers to size and layer them behind the photo. I cut the title “Lazy summer day’s” with my Cricut and colored it with the color “peacock feathers” Distress Oxide and used a blending tool for the ombre effect.

I grab several die-cuts, stickers and word strips for decoration. Some die-cuts I sew with gold sewing thread and make clusters on both sides of the banners. At the top of the banners, I use white cotton thread for extra decoration. I sew gold thread through the center of this cutfile and place it under the photo. Finally, I make some white splatters with white acrylic paint for a festive look!

I had a lot of fun creating this layout for Cocoa Vanilla Studio! So I hope I was able to inspire you with this layout using these beautiful summery papers, die-cuts and stickers! Wish you all a great and crafty day! Xo, Jo

Picture Perfect Moments | These Days | Kylie Kingham.

Hello Cocoa Vanilla fans! It’s Kylie here with you today and I am super excited to share my very first layout to be created with the new ‘These Days’ collection. This new range has a really pretty ‘Cottage core’ or ‘Homely’ vibe to it with a stunning pastel colour palette. I didn’t have a plan so to speak before starting my page of how I wanted my completed layout to look. All I knew is I wanted to have a really soft and florally theme to it.

Next to florals, I have a huge thing for gingham prints so I immediately went to the ‘Home Grown’ paper to work into my background. I trimmed a square of it down to 9″x9″ and adhered it to the lower right corner of the ‘Wall Of Fame’ paper. Using a lace edged craft punch from my supply stash, I added two strips of decorative edges surrounding the gingham square, using white cardstock. For contrast I added two 1″ strips of ‘Pretty Posies’ in an upside down ‘L’ shape.

I cut down both of my photos to 3.75″x3.75″ and backed them with 4″x 4″ pieces of the woodgrain side of the ‘Pretty Posies’ paper. Once in place I was able to begin layering various embellishments under and around both of them. The ‘Picture Perfect Moments’ die cut was adhered over both photos using foam adhesive squares, to give some added height and dimension.

Using the floral die cut pack, I added two clusters of blooms at opposite corners of my layout, Again using foam adhesive squares for the dimension. I really loved the fabric heart embellishments in this range…..Hello gold and sparkly cuteness! To finish my page I couldn’t resist adding three hearts surrounding my photos.

Pool party Days | Sunkissed | Josefine vd Hoeven

Hello crafty Paperlovers,

Welcome to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog! A new day and a new share! It’s Josefine here with a new scrapbook layout for you using the beautiful “Sunkissed Collection” do you like pool parties too?!

For this layout, I start with a white sheet of cardstock. I stamped with a background stamp that already looks like a stain several times with the Distress oxide on the white background. The color I’m using is ” Broken China” when I’m done stamping I make splatters with the distress oxide on my mixed media background. The challenge is; use one paper, three ways with the beautiful design paper “Feelin’ Fine” from the beautiful Sunkissed collection.

I cut the title “Pool Party” with my Cricut Maker and backfilled it with the design paper “Feelin Fine” Check these cute butterflies! I cut the butterflies with my Cricut maker from the design paper ” Feelin Fine” and placed them around the title “Pool party” I cut the design paper to size and placed it behind the photos. I used two photos and placed the small size on top. Between the photos I used vellum.

I placed my photo in the center of the page. I picked out different die-cuts and layered them on the side of the photo. I also used clear stickers on my layout. I placed the clear stickers on acetate and cut them out. I slide them between the design paper and the photo. This gives a great look-through effect. Check this cute clear sticker “days” on this page.

If you placed these clear stickers on acetate you can used them as a charm. You make a hole with your “crop a dile” and with a metal ring you can make a charm. Just perfect for a mini album!

I colored the alphas from the cut file with distress oxide. The color I used is “Picked Raspberry” I used my blending tool for this. I attached the alphas with gold sewing thread.I punched stars out from the design paper with a punch and I randomly placed them on my layout.I created splatters with white acrylic paint and used my brush for it.

Vacay Vibes | Sunkissed collection | Kylie Kingham.

Hello everyone! It’s Kylie back with you all with another layout featuring the SUNKISSED collection. I wanted to create a layout fairly simplistic, centred around my photo of a fun Summer’s Day. Whilst I love working with cut files and mixed media, for this layout I wanted to work solely with the beauty of the collection and it’s stunning colour palette.

The FEELING FINE paper is one of my favourites and the perfect back drop against a white background. I added a one inch strip to the bottom of some white cardstock and a 6 inch strip to the top. I cut out the rainbow border from the FUN IN THE SUN paper to add over the join through the middle of my page.

My photo was trimmed down to 5.75″x 3.75″ so that I could add a bright pink mat card cut to 6″x 4″.This gave it the perfect amount of frame showing behind. From the floral die cut pack I layered several blooms around my photo for balance. Some were added with foam adhesive squares so that they had a dimensional appeal.

I used one of the 3″x 4″pocket cards as a title for my page. It was adhered to some more of the FELLING FINE paper on the reverse side and cut into a tag. More of the die cuts were also added surrounding the tag as well as a string tie.

To complete my page I added a second title using the clear stickers. I love the burst of colour these have over white and almost look seamless.

I hope my layout today has you feeling all Summery and a little inspired for your own creative time.

Happy Snaps | Happiness | Gwen Wruck

Hi Creative friends,

Gwen back on the blog today with a new share featuring the ‘Happiness’ collection. On the blog this week, the design team have been playing along with the theme “circles or squares” and I’ve got to say, I really struggle with circle elements so I absolutely took the easy way out and created a page featuring squares. This photo is one I took of my daughter quite a few years ago while we were at a theme park and I’ve come up with a fun way to use up a bunch of pattern paper scraps on my layout within the Squares theme I’m working with.

To begin my page, I’ve started with a white Cardstock background from my stash and a cut file from CUT to YOU. I’ve then pulled out a bunch of pattern paper scraps in the collection and backed the squares in the design. You could also do something similar to this with a basic square punch. Backing the file went quite quickly actually because the square is a very simple shape to cut out. I didn’t think too hard about the colour placement of the pattern paper, I was just a little bit careful not to put two of the same colours side by side. I even left some of the squares in the design open for interest.

Next, I’ve positioned the backed cut file onto the centre of my background and added stitching around the edge. From there, I’ve backed my photo with the ‘Little Things‘ pattern paper, added some stitching and then mounted with 3D foam.

My daughter is positioned towards the right hand side of the photo so I want to position my photo towards the right hand side of my page, I like to have the subjects in my photos looking towards the centre of the page rather than off to the side of the page. It’s not a rule, just the way that I prefer to do it. I just find it easier for me to embellish when I do it this way.

I can now begin to work on my embellishment clusters. I’ve pulled elements from the ‘Die Cut Ephemera’ pack starting with the pretty floral elements and that sweet prize ribbon die cut. I’m going to create an embellishment cluster along the right hand side of my photo and then balance that out with a separate cluster in the top left hand corner of the page. As always, I’ll position the largest pieces first and then work towards the smaller elements.

I’ve also added in a couple of the cute tassels from the ‘Die Cut Ephemera’ pack and a couple of stickers from the ‘Accessory Sticker Sheet’. For the stickers, I often like to add them with 3D foam tape for dimension. It’s nice to have layers within your clusters and try to nestle everything in close together.

I’ve also pulled a flair button from the ‘Flair Buttons’ pack and added that to the top right hand corner of my page. The title for the layout has come from the ‘Die Cut Pack’ as well. To finish everything off I have fussy cut out a couple of the stunning butterflies from the ‘Bright and Beautiful’ pattern paper and added them onto my background.

Summer Days | Sunkissed | Kylie Kingham

Hello Cocoa Vanilla fans! It’s Kylie back with you today and I’m so excited because I am sharing my first layout created with the all new ‘Sunkissed’ collection. This range has a fun ‘Summer’ vibe to it with lots of bright coloured elements.

I had some fun holiday snaps to scrapbook from a Tropical holiday we had a few years ago. I laugh at my sons face in this photo as coming from a cold climate his face says it all when you are trying to adjust to heat and humidity! The palm tree and fruit die cuts were going to be the perfect accents for this memory. I decided to work with a white background which had half a centimetre trimmed off each side and was adhered over the SUNNY DAYS paper to act as a border for my layout. Using a simple hexagon craft punch from my craft stash, I punch several shapes from various paper to be able to create a fun background.Each hexagon was adhered in place using foam squares and were positioned cascading across my background.

The theme for my layout today was ‘Sparkle and Shine’ which I was able to add to my page thanks to the gold and very glittery foam title stickers. As soon as I saw these it was love at first sight! I was able to construct a fitting title for my page and add it below my photo.

Floral elements were layered on opposite corners of my photo as well as several other icon die cuts as well. How cute are those palm trees?? I made sure to use more foam adhesive squares on some to raise them up a little to produce a nice dimension for my page.
