Love Our Story | Storyteller | Kellie Moore

Hello everyone and welcome back to the CVS blog.

Today I’m sharing a page using the new ‘Storyteller’ collection with a focus on florals.

I decided I wanted to divide my page into thirds, using blue, yellow and red as the focus for each section. To start my page, I used a strip of white cardstock to stamp florals using my distress oxides..the red is Candied Apple, the blue is Faded Jeans and the yellow is Fossilized Amber.

I chose 3 of our wedding photos and printed them in black and white so they didnt compete with my colours. I wanted to have something to pop out from behind my photos, so I used some gauze that I coloured with the same inks…this adds a nice texture to the page.

Next, I went through all the embellishments..the ephemera pack, the chipboard, accessory stickers, wooden buttons and puffy hearts and pulled out all the colours that matched and icons that would work…making sure I used florals in each cluster.

While going through my collection I also found a yellow and blue stitched heart from previous page so I included these as well..

For my title, I used the Foam Title Stickers, placing one word on each line of the page… including some of the black foam hearts…perfect for a wedding page right?!

Together | Storyteller Collection | Melissa Vining

Hi everyone, its Melissa here and I’m so happy to be back again with you.  This month we are creating with sketches, which is something I love to do!  I know some people find it hard to create from a sketch, but I find it a great way to kick start my creative flow.  Last week I put a poll up on the Facebook Group asking for people to vote for which collection I should use.  Storyteller was the winner, and because of this I decided to choose a sketch by co-creator Traci Reed (of Traci Reed Designs).  Here is my layout:

I decided to use Fly Away for my background torn paper strips.  I just love the green colour and the subtle circular patterns. I also fussy cut several butterflies from the other side of the paper to use as embellishments.

I fussy the Love this Life heart from one of the Pocket Life Cards and used it as embellishment.  Then I used lots of florals for the pinwheel shapes on the sketch.  I love how they look through the central white card stock background. I also embellished with more fussy cut butterflies and Puffy Hearts.

I love using the Foam Title Stickers to make an easy title.  I used the word “Together” which was perfect to document Brielle and Ava dressing up and eating watermelon.

Love This | Storyteller | Lina Monaco

Happy Day Friends,
Lina here with you today with a sketch and my take on it. I used the Storyteller collection to document this photo of my oldest daughter and myself from this current summer! Autumn is on it’s way here in the Northern Hemisphere and as much as I love the fall, I’m not quite ready for summer to be over. So what better way to enjoy it than by scrapbooking a photo from it. Well, that’s my theory anyway.



The sketch I used is from Citrus Twist Kits and I really like the composition of it… it’s totally my style. Of course I tweaked it a bit to make it my own but for the most part, I stayed true to the sketch.
I began my layout with my first change and that was to use a 12×12 sheet of white paper. It’s the size I most enjoy creating my layouts with so why change it? I used some TH Distress Inks and a blending tool and pulled some varying shades of blues and greens to create the background you see. I sprinkled some water (just a bit) as not to distort my paper, let it sit for about a minute and then wiped it off with a clean paper towel. You can see that the water lifts the ink and creates a reverse splatter. Fun!


Next, I played with paper from the A5 Paper Stack to matte my black and white photo. I used a few different sheets to create a layered effect. I popped it up on dimensional foam and adhered it down using my hot glue gun. I also used a Pocket Card and adhered that down, on a slight angle, right next to my photo.


The sketch showed some cut strips of paper and I added the same. I cut mine on a slight angle and stuck them down slightly on top of each other. The papers I used are strips cut from full size 12×12 sheets of paper; Little Love and Cross It Off. I just adore the balance and grounding these few strips give to the layout.


Next, I embellished! I used pieces from the Floral Ephemera and the Die Cut Ephemera and created floral clusters around my photo and Pocket Card. I also used the small typed phrases from the Accessory Stickers to add sentiment to my layout… plus, I just love the look. I think I used them in every layout! They’re just my fave! I also added some gold thread behind the further most back layer of my photo to add something different and texture. Finally, I added some yellow Puffy Stickers and some gold metallic spray splatters to finish off my layout.
This layout came together super quick and easy and I just adore how it turned out!

Beautiful | Storyteller Collection | Melissa Vining

Hi everyone, It’s Melissa here and I’m back sharing another layout that I created with the beautiful Storyteller collection!  I just love that this collection is so versatile for documenting all the stories I want to tell.  For this layout I was inspired by the beautiful cameras in the collection, and I decided to scrapbook a photo of my daughters from Mother’s Day last year. I used Cross It Off for my background, and I just love the gorgeous woodgrain pattern.

The camera cut file I used is from Just Nick Studio, and was perfect to recreate the camera with florals. I love the navy blue in this collection and used Ditsy Daisy, Brighter Days, and Little Love to back the cut file.

I used lots of flowers and leaves from the Floral Ephemera pack to embellish the camera.  I bent up the petals and used lots of dimensional adhesive to keep them from laying flat. I also used one phrase from the Accessory Stickers.

I added my journaling on a piece from the Die Cut Ephemera pack and I tucked it into the floral cluster.  I love that my journaling is contained!

I selected the phrase “So Beautiful” from the Foam Title Stickers.  They sat so perfectly across the camera. My final touch was to splatter with gold shimmer which is so lovely on the woodgrain background.

I hope I’ve inspired you to take inspiration from the icons in the collection.

You Make Me Smile | Storyteller Collection | Danni Visser

Hello lovely Cocoa Vanilla Studio fans! Danni here, back with another layout featuring the pretty Storyteller collection. On the blog this week the team are focusing on storytelling with our layouts. Today I am documenting what is a very important day of the year for many people, including myself – Mother’s Day.

I am not necessarily the most creative when it comes to storytelling; I am certainly not a prodigious journaller and I tend to go blank when it comes time to put pen to layout. To help overcome this I look for ways to add small areas of journalling in creative ways. This time I chose an envelope cutfile, knowing I would be able to tuck little pieces of my story inside them.

I went ahead and backed my cutfile using the A5 paper stack, alternating the busier patterns with the more solid ones to create variety. I made sure not to glue down the openings of the two envelopes I wanted to tuck things inside. To brighten up my white cardstock background, I took soft pink and yellow hybrid inks and added some subtle mixed media using the packaging technique.

Next, I chose the cut-apart sheets from the A5 paper stack and cut out a journalling spot and a couple of the adorable tags. I added some journalling to the journalling spot and tucked it into the middle envelope of the cutfile. I hole-punched the tags and added some coloured thread to them before popping them into the other open envelope.

To add more detail to the little envelopes, I used the chipboard stickers to add a heart envelope seal, then added some tiny word accessory stickers and a stamped date to another envelope to make it look as if it had been addressed. I also popped a puffy sticker heart inside the stamp – so sweet!

I added my photos above and below my cutfile to frame it nicely, then added my title using the foam title stickers to fill in the remaining large, awkward spaces. I embellished by adding some die cut ephemera florals, some more accessory stickers and lots of puffy stickers sprinkled around the layout.

Finally, I added another small journaling spot above one of the photos to finish. I am really happy with how I told my story with this layout. I hope you enjoyed joining me too. Happy scrapping!

Unique Kid or Legend | Mixed Boy Collections | Laura Alberts

Hey y’all! Laura Alberts back again with a fun boy layout! This month we were challenged to scraplift ourselves and I immediately knew which layout I wanted to lift! This super fun Sunkissed layout featuring my youngest daughter has such a fun vertical design that I definitely wanted to convert to a more masculine style! Using the You Rock collection mixed with a little bit of Legendary, I scrapped these fun photos of my oldest son and his Lego city. He adored Legos for ages and I love finding these gems in my albums!

Like the original layout, I started with strips of paper down the left and right side of this layout. The original was a 9×12, so I’d just used two fairly small strips, but to match the scale of a 12×12, I added a third strip on both sides. The stars are a mix of fussy cut stars from the Starshine patterned paper and punched scraps left over from previous layouts. Since this layout only had two photos, instead of three, I added a decorative cut apart piece in the middle, adding washi strip phrases and the last robot ephemera piece from the Totally Rad collection.

For my title, I used a mix of wood veneer pieces from the You Rock Collection and die-cut titles from Legendary. I’ve tied in these wood veneer pieces with two plus signs that I added to each of my small clusters on the page. These small clusters add a little bit of whimsy to the page, breaking up the heavy linear design with a bit of fun.

A fun detail on this page are the rows of tiny rectangles along each set of borders. These are actually the punched out leftover pieces from an ephemera piece in the You Rock collection that looked like a viewfinder reel! They made a great vertical embellishment on this page. The stars that border the left side of my photos vary in sizes and colors, mimicking the floral clusters along the original layout.

I hope you enjoyed this look at how I scraplifted myself, changing not only the color scheme and theme, but also the size! Such a fun challenge! To see how this layout came together, check out the process video below! 

My biggest treasure | These days Layout | Anna Komenda

Welcome crafty friends! It’s Anna here with my newest page. I decided to let the christmas go (even though I stil have plenty of “Joyful” collection on hand) and created a generic type of page, where I could play with colors. I was missing it so much! It’s not a vivid, summer rainbow as I used a bit muted and dreamy “These days” collection, but it still warms my heart. I am total sucker for colors. Inspiration for this page was very simple – pie chart! It’s not the first one I created in this style and for sure not last. This composition is great if you like mixing pattern papers. You can even use up some paper scraps!

This page is based on “These days” collection mostly but I also mixed in few other pattern papers, as I needed some green and navy to finish the rainbow order. I reached for some “Merry and bright” paper scraps with red and white stripes and green chequered pattern. I also added “Up in the clouds“, “Sun shower” and “Happy place” patterns from “Daydream” collection. Orange “Wall of fame” and mint “Family ties” along with some patterns from Paper Stack come from “These days” line.

The easiest way to make a pie chart type of layout is to take some unused 12*12 paper or a failed background, mark the point you want your triangles to meet and think of a number of triangles you want to include. Then, simply start drawing lines starting at the chosen point to the edges of the page using ruler. After you are happy with how it looks, cut out triangles (don’t forget to number them first so you won’t  be lost later) and use them as a stencils on pattern paper. This is exactly what I did here. You can save those triangles for any future pie chart layout!

After parts of my pie chart were ready, I glued them down over the white sheet of paper. I also added stitching along each side for more texture. Best spot for the photo is in the middle of the pie chart as the eye is naturally drawned to this point by all the lines. My paper pieces are arranged in rainbow order but you can create anything you want! Use only shades of one color or mix two colors. There are many possibilities. Next step was to decorate everything with lovely flowers from Floral Ephemera Pack. They come in many colors, shapes and sizes, along with some leaves and twigs, that you will be able to make many amazing projects with just one pack of them. I placed my flowers color on color enchancing the rainbow order. I also fussy cut few butterflies from “Take flight” paper and added thm to composition.

Few more transparent stickers and puffy stickers here and there and a title made with super cute puffy alpha stickers and the page was done. I don’t think I will ever get tired of making projects like this one – full of colors and flowers, with a girly vibe.

Hohoho | Joyful Collection | Raquel Bowman

Hey everyone, it’s Raquel here sharing my final Christmas layout for this holiday season. I managed to document our 2021 Santa photo.

Here is a Layout that I created;


As mentioned, the subjects of this layout are my babes having their 2021 Christmas photo with Santa at a local shopping centre. I used a green paper to back the photo as I wanted to tie into the green in the photo but also what I was going to use in the wreath. I embellished the photo with chipboard stickers and ephemera that linked to Santa and of course I had to add in some fussy cut flowers.

To create this layout are used a cut file as the main feature on the page. This cut file was purchased from the Cut to You store and is a wreath design. I used the paper pad and 12×12 scraps I had to back the leaves and bow off the cut file. I tried to use a mixture of green patterns and shades within the leaves.

To embellish around the page I have used the leaves and berries ephemera pieces and any stars I could find within the collection.
I think one of my favourite additions to the page and pieces within this collection are the gold stars within the title pack. They add a beautiful pop of gold to a page and are a great finishing touch to a layout.


I used a thin foam adhesive to adhere the whole cut file to the page. It just gives a subtle pop of dimension.

I love how although this collection contains the traditional red and green colours it also has pinks and creams within the colour palette. I framed the layout on one of the pink papers to soften the layout.

Christmas Cards | Joyful Collection | Raquel Bowman

Hey everyone, today I am sharing a set if three cards for Christmas using the Joyful collection. This is a new kind of share for me as I normally create layouts to share with you but I was inspired by the cute animals within the collection and wanted to create with them right away.

Here are the cards that I created –

To create these 3 cards I used mainly the A5 paper pad and embellishments from the ephemera, chipboard sheet, accessory stickers and puffy stickers.

The reindeer in the first card was so adorable that I wanted to feature it. I used a frame from a 3×4 card to make it really stand out .

How cute is this bear?! 

The final card I am sharing features this cute rabbit from the collection. I tried to create the cards as individuals but for them to have consistent elements within the set of three.
