Sweet Summer Days | Sunkissed collection | Sophie Delorme

Hello Cocoa Vanilla friends !

It’s Sophie on the blog today sharing a very summery layout with you !

 

 

I created this page with the lovely Sunkissed collection.

I had the idea of using one of my favorite papers of the collection, ”Just Chillin” on the wood grain side and create a frame on my layout. I cut four strips of this beautiful paper with 45 degre angles on each end to create that frame. I added adhesive foam in the middle of each strip and adhered them together in a square shape. It gives the effect that each strip is curled a little bit, mimicking a wooden frame. I added a few hand stitches with yellow embroidery thread to each corner of the frame, and centered it on the gorgeous “Good Vibrations” paper.

 

My photo is from a typical summer day at home where my dog Fiona likes to jump in the pool endlessly !

I used a thick white cardstock inside the frame and added numerous multicolor watercolor splatters on it.

 

I backed my photo with tissue paper and adhesive foam. I teared a portion of a pocket card to write down my journaling.

My title is from the Sunkissed Glitter Foam Title Stickers.

 

I added beautiful floral embellishements from the Floral Ephemera pack and cut out of the “Growing Wild” patterned paper.

FUN + SUN | SUNKISSED | GWEN WRUCK

Hey Creative Friends, Gwen back on the blog today with another share for Cocoa Vanilla Studio. I’m using more of their new ‘Sunkissed‘ collection to document a sweet photo of Miss C from a few years back.

To start the page, I’ve backed a cut file, this one from CUT to YOU with pattern papers from the A5 Paper Stack. The smaller prints in the A5 papers are ideal for this and I love how there are a couple of exclusive prints in the pack.

I’ve backed my photo with the ‘Sunny Days‘ pattern paper and used it to create a border around the base of my page. For the background of my layout, I’ve used a piece of pale blue card stock from my stash. I’ve also added here my signature stitching, I just love this detail.

Next, I’ve added my backed cut file onto the layout centred and a little towards the bottom of the page. Then, I’ve placed my photo at the centre bottom. I’ve raised on foam for dimension so it’s now time to embellish.

For the embellishments, I’ve gone with three clusters to create a visual triangle on my page. The main cluster features a sweet rainbow from the ‘Die Cut Ephemera‘ pack and a Sunshine element from the ‘Puffy Sticker pack‘ as well as some floral die cuts from the ‘Floral Ephemera pack‘.

For even more interest on my page, I’ve added in some of the ‘Wooden Buttons‘. I love the texture of these. As I build out the clusters, I’m making sure to have at least one of each of these in each one. I find that when I replicate elements in each of my clusters, it really helps pull the page together.

Here you can see the die cut pieces, a wooden button, puffy sticker and a typed sentiment from the ‘Accessory Sticker Sheet‘. I like to add these stickers with foam tape for added dimension. They really are a great way to round out a page and the sentiments really help to tell the story in the photos.

Fun in the Sun | Sunkissed Collection | Mandy Melville

Hey friends!

Mandy here with you today to share a new layout featuring the beautiful Sunkissed collection. I’m loving using this collection to scrapbook all of our holidays snaps! With overseas travel being off the cards at the moment, we decided last year to spend the money that we’d put aside for an overseas trip on a caravan instead. It’s been so nice to be able to getaway on little trips a lot more often now, and of course you know what that means… LOTS of holiday photos to scrapbook! The photos that I’m documenting today were from our trip at Easter time. My youngest just loved spending time at the beach jumping in the waves, and as always the bright colours and gorgeous florals from the Sunkissed collection were perfect for this scrapbooking these photos!

I started my layout off by trimming down my white cardstock background and mounting it on the yellow floral Fun in the Sun patterned paper. I then trimmed the gorgeous woodgrain Just Chillin paper down to 10 inches square, and adhered it to the middle of the page. I added a doodled white border around the woodgrain paper, and I also added some machine stitching around the outside of it to give the layout some extra detail and texture.

I printed my two photos at about 3 1/2 inches square and matted them with papers from the A5 Paper Stack.

I adhered the top photo using craft foam for added dimension, and I adhered a little banner from the Die Cut Ephemera pack on the top right hand corner. I also tucked a colourful bunting die cut under the top left hand corner of the photo. I love the way all of the bright and colourful embellishments pop against the woodgrain background!

I wanted to create a rough grid style design on this page using elements of different shapes and sizes. So once I’d placed my photos on the layout, I decided to cut a couple of the 3×4 inch cards out of the Fun in the Sun patterned paper. I used the one with the blue border as a journaling spot and adhered it in the top right hand corner of the grid. I added my typed journaling to the card, as well as the ‘Happy Days’ die cut banner across the top.

Underneath the journaling card, I added the #Vacation banner which I also cut out of the Fun in the Sun patterned paper. I made another banner out of one of the papers from the A5 Paper Stack to layer underneath the blue one, and then I fussy cut a bunch of florals from the beautiful Growing Wild patterned paper to tuck around the banners.

For the final spot in the grid, I used the ‘Fun in the Sun’ card, which made the perfect title for my layout! This was also cut out of the Fun in the Sun  patterned paper. Again I tucked lots of fussy cut florals around the card, as well as one or two from the Floral Ephemera pack. I adhered some with foam tape for added dimension and interest.

I finished the layout off by adding a few of the cute little flowers from the Puffy Sticker pack.

Together | Sunkissed Layout | Anna Komenda

Hello scrappy Friends. Today I want to share with you project created for the “One product – three ways” theme. Our Sue chose paper from “Sunkissed” collection called “Feelin fine“. I must admit I had a hard time deciding which side I should use. I like both of them – more artsy and colorful brush strokes or dark pink, cute hearts. After few attemps and sitting over the empty paper for a while I finally decided to go with hearts. As it’s quite a solid patter, it works great with cut files. I chose hearts background pattern with a photo of me and my hubby in mind. It can be used in two ways – as an outline or a group of hearts. This is where I was stuck again… Too many choices :) In the end I decided I will use both ideas and divided the pattern in two parts, filling one side of background with an outline and second with the hearts.

I started with coloring my white cardstock base with a light pink mist. Then I glued down the cut file, rotating some of the hearts so the B side of the “Feelin fine” paper would be visible too. Some of the hearts are raised above the surface thanks to the 3D foam squares. I like adding this kind of texture to my projects.

I placed my photo and embellishments on the vertical line where my outline pattern ends and scaterred hearts begin. Area around the picture is embellished with a lot of elements from ephemera pack and flower pack, like palm trees and flowers. I also fussy cut two little rainbows from “Sunny days” paper.

The line between cut file and hearts is completely coveder with varoius elements and runs smoothly from one end to another. I added few small word stickers from sticker sheet turning them into small fishtail tags. Photo I used, even though is “romantic”, was taken during one of our summer travels, hence using “Sunkissed” collection, that matches the story perfectly.

Gold glitter foam title stickers are perfect for… titles, so I used one on my page. I also added few woodies here and there (with quite a heavy heart as it means I will run our ot them soon). Last step was splashing everything with yellow mist, adding this sunny touch to my page.

Other girls from our Team will share with you more ideas on how you can use this pretty paper and I am sure each one will be totally different.

Chill Out | Sunkissed Collection | Melissa Vining

Hello everyone!! Its Melissa here and its well and truely winter here in the south of New Zealand, so I thought it was time to create another summer layout with the gorgeous Sunkissed collection!! This time its an inside photo of my daughter making breakfast, and one of the best things about being on holiday is that everyday is chilled with no time pressure to be anywhere or do anything.  This week we are featuring 3 layouts created with the beautiful “Feelin’ Fine” paper and I chose to use a cut file by Paige Evans called “Corner Doily”.

I backed the cut out doily with white card stock in order to provide a contrast to the busy patterned paper.

Using the patterned paper as a full background meant that this layout had the potential to be very busy.  In order to avoid this I printed my photo as a large square, and backed it with “Fun in the Sun” and a dark blue paper from the “A5 Paper Stack”.    I also used one of the “Pocket Cards” for my journalling.

I embellished with lots of “Floral Ephemera”, and I cut a lot of them in half to get more use from them.

I was really happy to get some of the “Die Cut Ephemera” onto my page, especially the watermelon and orange slice!

I created my title with two of the “Glitter Foam Title Stickers” which were perfect for the theme of my page!!  My final touch was to add some ink splatters in grey and black.

Pool party Days | Sunkissed | Josefine vd Hoeven

Hello crafty Paperlovers,

Welcome to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog! A new day and a new share! It’s Josefine here with a new scrapbook layout for you using the beautiful “Sunkissed Collection” do you like pool parties too?!

For this layout, I start with a white sheet of cardstock. I stamped with a background stamp that already looks like a stain several times with the Distress oxide on the white background. The color I’m using is ” Broken China” when I’m done stamping I make splatters with the distress oxide on my mixed media background. The challenge is; use one paper, three ways with the beautiful design paper “Feelin’ Fine” from the beautiful Sunkissed collection.

I cut the title “Pool Party” with my Cricut Maker and backfilled it with the design paper “Feelin Fine” Check these cute butterflies! I cut the butterflies with my Cricut maker from the design paper ” Feelin Fine” and placed them around the title “Pool party” I cut the design paper to size and placed it behind the photos. I used two photos and placed the small size on top. Between the photos I used vellum.

I placed my photo in the center of the page. I picked out different die-cuts and layered them on the side of the photo. I also used clear stickers on my layout. I placed the clear stickers on acetate and cut them out. I slide them between the design paper and the photo. This gives a great look-through effect. Check this cute clear sticker “days” on this page.

 

 

 

If you placed these clear stickers on acetate you can used them as a charm. You make a hole with your “crop a dile” and with a metal ring you can make a charm. Just perfect for a mini album!

 

I colored the alphas from the cut file with distress oxide. The color I used is “Picked Raspberry” I used my blending tool for this. I attached the alphas with gold sewing thread.I punched stars out from the design paper with a punch and I randomly placed them on my layout.I created splatters with white acrylic paint and used my brush for it.

Vacay Vibes | Sunkissed collection | Kylie Kingham.

Hello everyone! It’s Kylie back with you all with another layout featuring the SUNKISSED collection. I wanted to create a layout fairly simplistic, centred around my photo of a fun Summer’s Day. Whilst I love working with cut files and mixed media, for this layout I wanted to work solely with the beauty of the collection and it’s stunning colour palette.

The FEELING FINE paper is one of my favourites and the perfect back drop against a white background. I added a one inch strip to the bottom of some white cardstock and a 6 inch strip to the top. I cut out the rainbow border from the FUN IN THE SUN  paper to add over the join through the middle of my page.

My photo was trimmed down to 5.75″x 3.75″ so that I could add a bright pink mat card cut to 6″x 4″.This gave it the perfect amount of frame showing behind. From the floral die cut pack I layered several blooms around my photo for balance. Some were added with foam adhesive squares so that they had a dimensional appeal.

I used one of the 3″x 4″pocket cards as a title for my page. It was adhered to some more of the FELLING FINE  paper on the reverse side and cut into a tag. More of the die cuts were also added surrounding the tag as well as a string tie.

To complete my page I added a second title using the clear stickers. I love the burst of colour these have over white and almost look seamless.

I hope my layout today has you feeling all Summery and a little inspired for your own creative time.

Just Chillin | Sunkissed collection | Tarrah McLean

Hi Cocoa Vanilla friends!

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I have a new layout to share featuring the gorgeous Sunkissed collection! This collection is so bright and happy! There are lots of cute ice cream icons in this collection and I knew I had the perfect photos to scrap of my eldest son when he was 5 years old eating an enormous ice cream!

My layout was definitely inspired by those ice cream icons, I knew I wanted to use the pocket card as part of the design. I began by taking a piece of the orange ombre paper from the A5 paper stack and building most of the design on top of this paper. As I used a white cardstock background, I needed a bright colour to help give all the elements a lift. I also added some strips of the Sunny Days 12′ x 12′ paper to the top and bottom of the layout.

As my photos are small, I was able to add 3 to the page, I used craft foam underneath the photos to pop them up off the page. I just love the expressions on his face eating the ice cream! To add some interest, I took some more of the papers from the A5 paper stack and punched the edges with a scallop border punch, I then tucked these into the top and bottom and the left edge of the orange ombre A5 paper. I pulled lots of pieces from the die-cut ephemera pack including the banner, the large ice cream die-cut, a rainbow, a couple of pennant banners and some hearts. I added these around my photos and to help with the design of the layout.

I also had to add a foam gold glitter title and some hearts in the same too. I love how the gold gives the layout some extra oomph! To embellish further, I created some small clusters of embellishments around the page adding some clear stickers, a wood epoxy button, puffy stickers and accessory stickers too! I pretty much added one of everything to the page lol! I typed some journalling onto some scrap pieces of cardstock and then cut them into strips. I am really liking journalling strips right now!

Summer Love | Sunkissed | Rachel Lowe

Hey crafty friends, it maybe cold and gloomy outside but it is summer in my craft room! I love the colours of Sunkissed collection so much and so before These Days arrived (which I can’t wait for) I am happily creating away remembering summer!

The folded heart (rosette heart) is a cut file from the Silhouette Design store. I oversized mine as I wanted it to be the feature on my layout. I used the Growing Wild paper to create the hear. I used the left over paper strip (using the floral side) of the Growing Wild paper, tearing at the top and bottom of the strip. Before adhering my white cardstock I tore another paper strip from the Summer Lights paper using the pink part of the ombre paper and tucking it under my floral strip. Finally to soften I add a 7x 5 inch strip of Vellum paper tearing at the bottom only.

I next added my folded heart, I used a wet glue to ensure it wasn’t going to move or lift. I have used a 4×4 inch square photo which I matted onto a square of Feelin Fine  paper. 

I have created embellishment clusters in a triangle configuration with my photo at the centre. This is important to do when you are using ‘busy’ patterns and ‘bright’ colours. I added a small cluster of flowers (using the Floral Ephemera pack), adding some gold thread and finishing off with one of the gorgeous Wood Epoxy Buttons.

Under this embellishment cluster I added another, using the fruits from the Die Cut Ephemera pack and finishing off again using another, but smaller wood epoxy button.

I created a large and cascading cluster of the gorgeous tropical flowers from the photo flowing onto the vellum and white cardstock. Again I added gold thread under the outer flowers. To create dimension some were added over others with foam tape. I also added clear NUVO jewel drops on some of the centres and leaves. I added two phrase sentiments from the die cut ephemera pack.

I used one of the words from the Glitter Foam Titles and curved it gently around the top of the heart.

And there you have it one super fun summer layout and of course you could use a larger photo and add two smaller ones over the heart. Thank you for stopping by and happy creating!

Chill Out | Sunkissed collection | Sue Plumb

Hi everyone, it’s Sue here to share my latest design team project with you. I had some cute photos of my boys swimming that I wanted to document, so couldn’t help but pull out the ‘Sunkissed’ collection to go with them. I decided to focus on the blues and greens from the range in keeping with the watery vibe of my page.

I began my layout with a sheet of white cardstock which I had cut down to measure 11×11″, and I used some blue and green inks to create a watercolour style background. I then added some stencilled detail over the top using a small scattered hearts stencil and a darker blue ink. My cardstock was then mounted onto a sheet of the Bright Side paper, which left me with the beautiful blue border I was wanting.

For the focal area of my page I used layered pieces of patterned papers which included some from the A5 Paper Stack, as well as some of the Sunny Days and Good Vibrations papers. I also added a paper doily and some frayed gauze for texture under my main photo, then cut one of the Pocket Cards in half to add some extra layering under my smaller photos.

Now it was time to add some extra fun to my page with some embellishments! There are such a great range of embellishments that come with this collection. I started with the Die Cut Ephemera pack, choosing pieces that fit with the colour scheme and theme of my page. To the left of my photos I created a cluster using two of the palm trees from the pack, which I popped up with some foam and bent the leaves up to give them some dimension. Other pieces I tucked in around my photos included a cute cloud, a pair of flips flops, a pair of sunglasses, and the beach towel that read sunshine state of mind on it.

As I often like to do, I added a couple of stickers from the Accessory Sticker sheet directly onto my main photo. The be happy tab in the top left hand corner, and the just chillin’ banner along the bottom edge. I also added the phrase sticker make a splash to the right of my photos where my title was. My title was created using the gold Glitter Foam Title Stickers and I just love the bright pop of sparkle they give the page. I also used two of the little glitter hearts from the same pack to add one to each of my smaller photos.

I finished off my page by adding several stickers from the Puffy Stickers set, handwritten journalling, a stamped date, and splatters of black ink to tie it all together.
