Hello CVS friends! Well I couldn’t resist ‘that’ amazing rainbow paper from the Sunkissed collection any longer and have a tropical themed layout featuring some gorgeous summer cocktails.
I fussy cut out the rainbow from the Bright Side paper, leaving out the red outer strip as I wanted the pinks to feature. I added to white cardstock and machine stitching the outer pink strip of the rainbow to add definition.
I next made three tropical flowers slightly varying in sizes. I used a cut file from the Silhouette design store. I used Fun in the Sun and Feelin Fine papers to make my flowers. Once I made my tropical flowers I added to my rainbow but only wet gluing the centres so I could tuck elements under. From the Floral die cut pack I then added sprigs and leaves under my flowers.
I added my 5×4 inch landscape photo with foam tape, tucking under the sun die cut and adding a Wooden epoxy button over my photo. To connect my photo I added the Love This die cut words.
I created an embellishment cluster focusing on the drinks and fruits from the die cut pack and Puffy Stickers finishing off with some phrase sentiment die cuts. To avoid my layout looking ‘flat’ I added these elements with foam tape.
Due to the colour overload I ensured there was enough negative space between embellishment clusters. I love creating layouts that have ‘no people’ photos and focusing on those little life pleasures which are just as important to document. Thank you for stopping by today!

Hi everyone, it’s Sue Plumb here to share my latest design team project with you. I hope everyone had a chance to celebrate InterNational Scrapbook Day (INSD) last weekend with a bit of creative time? Maybe even one of our special INSD challenges? If you haven’t had a chance to play along yet you still have a couple of days to get your entries in.
In fact, it was one of the challenges that inspired my layout for today, as I played along with Michelle’s “Grab 5” challenge. Here are the challenge criteria:
For my page I decided to document a fun photo of my boys that I took recently at SeaWorld. I used a combination of the ‘Sunkissed’ and ‘Boys Rule’ collections, and went bright, bold and a bit messy!
I started with a sheet of the Summer Lightspaper from the ‘Sunkissed’ collection, which features a stunning colour gradient that runs from yellow at the to, through orange and pink, and finally to red at the bottom. It was absolutely perfect to match with my photo. (In fact, when I took this photo I thought of this paper right away – that’s when you know you are a true scrapper! haha)
I began by dry brushing on some black acrylic paint using a wide brush. This not only provided some great contrast, but also defined the focal area of my page. Over the top of the paint I added the white die cut star background. This left-over piece was actually part of the ‘Boys Rule’ Large Die Cut and Backing Kit. I like the way it added interest to the background right away.
Next, I added more patterned papers with a variety of different sized pieces from both collections that I cut and tore then layered together. I also added a green paper doily and some frayed gauze from my stash and used staples to secure my stack down on the page. I then added my photo on top.
When it came to embellishments, I wanted to ensure that I ticked off the sticker criteria first. I used mix of Accessory and Clear Stickers that I had left-over from ‘Boys Rule’. I also used some Chipboard Pieces and Die Cut Ephemera from the same collection. The sweet little Wood Button was from ‘Sunkissed’. To the right of my photo I added a handmade star embellishment which I topped with a Flair Button.
To add some extra interest to my background I added some stamping using a small stars background stamp and a roller phrase stamp.
Now it was time to finish off my page and tick off the remaining criteria. For something gold I added a few pieces of gold twisted wire, which I stapled down onto the page. For stitching, I added small hand stitched crosses using white embroidery thread. And finally, I added some splatters of white acrylic ink and that was all five criteria covered.
I had a lot of fun putting this layout together and I hope I have inspired you to play along with one of our INSD challenges while you still have time. Entries to the challenges close at midnight (AEST) this Sunday, 9th May. You can find all the challenge rules, or upload your entries via the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Community group.

The photo is from my dog Fiona and her best friend Da Vinci having a blast outside on a sunny day ! They haven’t seen each other for so long because of sanitary restriction. Look at their smile !!
So I decided to create a festive page and the Sunkissed collection was perfect for that.
I started with a thick white cardstock as my base and played with mixed media. I spread textured paste through a stencil from Honey Bee, let it dry, and added aqua watercolor over it. I also added splatters of other colors to match my color scheme.
I used two papers from the A5 Paper Stack to put behind my photo. I fussy cut three sunglasses out a pocket card that I popped with adhesive foam and adhered them on the right side of the photo. I decorated the left lower corner of the photo with beautiful Die Cut Ephemeras. I placed a die cut banner on top of the photo and used the gorgeous Glitter Foam Title Stickers for my title.
I scattered a few Wood Epoxy Buttons around the page, printed my journaling on white strips of paper and stamped the date.
Simple and easy, and I am so happy with the result !

Hey everyone, it’s Raquel here with you today sharing my latest layout with you all. Happy INSD everyone. I hope that you have enjoyed the challenges over on the CVS Facebook community page. It was a lovely weekend and I couldn’t resist joining in on one of the challenges also.
Here is the layout that I created:
This layout was my contribution to Laura’s sketch challenge. As soon as I saw this sketch shared I knew I wanted to create a layout based on it. It is just so gorgeous.
I loved the vertical repeating design of the hearts and have been inspired by so many entries in the Facebook community for this challenge; I’ve seen hearts and rainbows and decided to have a look through my cutting dies stash and see what I could create. I found a gorgeous set of intricate butterfly layering dies and immediately knew that I wanted to create a layout featuring my Charlotte and the Sunkissed collection.
The photos were printed on my Canon Selphy in an ‘untraditional’ size. I actually made them fit side by side vertically making each photo approx 2″x6″ in length. I always edit my photos separately on an app on my phone prior to printing. Due to the editing and printing software my photos were missing my usual beloved white border, so I have used white card stock to replicate this. I love that sketches are able to provide you with so much inspiration but also allow you that creative license to make changes to suit your style.
I used the foam glitter stickers to make the title for this page and my fave journaling on my typewriter. As a teacher I know the challenges of girls growing up, however it is a whole different basket when you are raising your own little human. This can prove difficult at times but I am so proud of this little human and I wanted to document that on this layout.
In terms of layout design I have used metal die cut butterflies. I love the intricacy of the layers and the delicateness.
To help balance the layout I have used floral ephemera in the bottom left of the photo. I also added a touch of gold to work with the title.
You may or may not see … but I have to bring your attention to the fact that I did infact ‘mixed media’ on this layout. I used distress stains and a mask to create a subtle text print on my white background. I love the effect it gave the layout. I then got ‘super messy’ for me and added some teal and gold splatters to the layout.
As mentioned above the butterflies were cut with a metal die and layered on top of one another. I used my sewing machine to secure the layers and left the threads free to work as a design element.
I hope that you have been inspired by my layout today. Be sure to check out the challenges in our Facebook community to join in. You have until this Sunday.

Gwen back on the blog today with a new share featuring the ‘Sunkissed‘ collection. Today I’m documenting a recent family outdoor adventure on a weekend away and what better collection to do that with than this one! I just love its outdoor feel and the bright happy colours, it’s perfect for all kinds of adventures.
To begin my page I’ve created the background using the ‘Just Chillin‘ pattern paper. For this page, I’ve used the A and B side of this design, so be sure to grab a couple for your stash. The B-side is the woodgrain and the A-side features sweet puffy clouds. I was so drawn to use the clouds as my background of my layout, they are the cutest! and I just wanted something really fun, bright and happy for this page.
Next up, I’ve backed a cut file title design, this one from CUT to YOU. For this, I’ve used the ‘A5 Paper Stack‘ and chosen one of the exclusive patterns which you can see above, it’s that striking blue pattern. This design is only available in the A5 paper stack. I’ve teamed it with a similar pattern in the pink but this time I’ve used the ‘Growing Wild‘ 12 x 12 pattern paper. You can see above the difference in the size of the print. I find it fun to mix and match papers in the A5 paper stack format with the regular 12 x 12 sheets.
I’ve also backed my photos using the A5 Paper Stack and added my signature stitching for extra detail. I’ve then positioned my photos and bold title centred on the page. The photos are flat on the background, but I have raised up the title here with some foam tape.
Now it’s time to embellish! For this, I’ve started with the ‘Die Cut Floral Ephemera‘ and ‘Die Cut Ephemera‘ packs. Both include super fun elements to add to my page. I’ve just mixed and matched and auditioned everything until I was happy with the placement. I decided on a couple of small clusters for this page, it didn’t need too much extra given I’ve used two photos and the large title piece.
Next, I’ve included some elements from the ‘Puffy Stickers‘ pack as well as a couple of ‘Wood Epoxy Buttons‘. Both of these are fab ways to add texture and interest to your page, I love the sweet elements in these packs.
Lastly, I’ve added some of the typed sentiments from the ‘Accessory Sticker Sheet‘ in the collection. I like to add these with foam tape for a little more dimension. They are a great way to help support your photos and help tell your story.
Thanks so much for popping by today, I hope my page has inspired you in some way. If you’d like to see me create this layout, you can watch it here:
