Hello Cocoa Vanilla friends!

 

Sophie on the blog today with this new layout created with the No Limits collection!

 

 

I used a black and white photo of my son Gabriel holding our new puppy on the very first day that we got her.

 

I used a white cardstock for my background and teared a big chunk of the No Limits Nebula patterned paper that I placed on the left side of the page.

 

I added tissue paper and foam adhesive behind the photo and placed a layer of the colorful No Limits Latitude paper on the left side of it.

 

I selected a cut file from the Silhouette Studio store, cut the title directly on the white cardstock, backed the letters with two yellow 3×4 cards and hand stitched around the Paw Print. I also created a little shaker with that paw print. It’s such a beautiful addition to the page!

 

 

I wrote my journaling on another 3×4 card, added two subtitles “Out of this world” and “One of a kind” fussy cut out of the No Limits Universal paper and stamped the date.

 

 

I decorated around the photo in a diagonal design with a few hearts punched out of different patterned papers, on which I added vellum hearts. I stitched the hearts in their center and curled up their edges. A simple but sophisticated way to embellish a page!

 

 

Finally, I added Wood Epoxy Buttons and puffy stickers here and there around the page for the finishing touch.

Rad Times | No Limits | Kellie Moore

Hello CVS fans and welcome back to the blog!

I am so excited to announce that I am now a full time design team member of the Cocoa Vanilla Studio design time and I am so blessed with this opportunity.

For today’s layout I am again playing with ‘No Limits’….I seriously can not get enough of this collection.

I am documenting a story of my son being in isolation recently when he was unwell. I wanted to highlight his headphones so I used a cut file to tell that part of the story and backed them with a bunch of the different patterned papers, both from the 12 x12 papers and the A5 paper stack.

I love the hand icon in the No Limits range so I cut this one from one of the Pocket Cards and added my title using the Die Cut Titles.

I loved cutting apart the ‘Nebula’ paper so I could use ALL.THE.STARS on my pages. I added these around my page to draw the attention to my photo.

I also used some of the Wood Epoxy Stickers and Puffy Stickers…..who doesn’t love these?!

I have been trying to get better at adding journalling to all of my pages….this time I cut down a pocket card to add next to my photo. These cards are so versatile and can be used in so many different ways…don’t be afraid to cut them up!

You’re the Best | No Limits | Mandy Melville

Hello everyone!

Mandy here today to share a new layout using the awesome No Limits collection! This time I created a page to document a recent photo of my teenage son at the beach.

 

I decided on using the Universal paper as my background for this layout. I love that the pattern on this paper is subtle, but still adds some extra interest without detracting from the main elements on the page. I trimmed it down to 11 1/2 inches, added a doodled border around the edge, and then matted it on the Eclipse paper. Next I used a punch to cut out a bunch of hexagons for my page. I mostly used papers from the A5 Paper Stack, but I also added in the 12×12 Spark patterned paper for a pop of orange. The A5 papers work perfectly for a project like this as the patterns are on a smaller scale. I arranged the hexagons randomly on my background, trying to keep a good balance of the colours and patterns.

Next I added some layers of patterned paper behind my photo, again choosing to use the A5 Papers. Once I had matted my photo, I adhered it to the page using craft foam. This gives it some nice dimension and helps it to stand out from the hexagons on the background. I also tucked an open die cut circle under the bottom right hand corner of the photo for an extra layer.

For my title I couldn’t go past using the Die Cut Titles. They make it so easy to add the perfect sentiment to a page, and I love how striking they look! I decided on the phrase ‘You’re the Best’, which I also expanded upon in my journaling.

I didn’t want to add a lot of embellishments to this page as it was already quite busy, but I did want to jazz up some of the hexagons. So I decided to add a few of the Wood Epoxy Buttons on top of the hexagons, choosing a tone-on-tone effect. I also added a hand doodled border around three of the hexagons to mirror the one around the outside of the page. I like to add elements in threes like this to create visual triangles on my layouts. This helps to draw the viewer’s eye around the page.

Next I added a sprinkling of Puffy Stickers, a few Chipboard circles, and a couple of little word Stickers around the outside of the hexagons. To finish the page off I added lots of white splatters, which I think gives the effect of sea foam and ties in nicely with my photo.

The Best | No Limits Collection | Danni Visser

Hi Cocoa Vanilla fans! Danni here with a fun layered layout using the incredible new No Limits collection.

I am absolutely loving how perfect this collection is for all those bright and colourful photos of my kids! I had a couple of photos to document of my son winning a school award last year, so I started with Spark 12×12 patterned paper as a background. I love the mixed media effect around the border of this patterned paper.

I was very drawn to the cut apart side of Eclipse 12×12 patterned paper so I cut out several of the brightly coloured 3×4 inch pieces to begin creating some layers of patterned paper as a base for my photos and embellishments. I also chose one of the double sided 3×4 cards for this, then distressed all the edges of my 3×4 rectangles before placing them in an overlapping pattern.

I placed my photos on top of my patterned paper base and began to think about embellishments. I started by laying down some of the circular elements from the accessory stickers and the die cut ephemera in three places around the layout to start my embellishment clusters. I then built up the clusters with more die cuts, adding in some of the beautiful star shapes in the collection.

I finished off the embellishment clusters with a scattering of puffy stickers and a trio of wood epoxy buttons to add some extra textures and dimensions. I added some of the adorable tiny word phrases from the accessory stickers to each of the embellishment clusters.

Finally, I used some of the large letters from the chipboard stickers as a title, placing them above and below the main design to draw the eye through the centre of the page. I’m so happy with how this layout turned out! I hope you enjoyed joining me today and have a wonderful day. Happy scrapping!

Love This | No Limits Collection | Laura Alberts

Hey y’all! Laura Alberts back again with a challenge for this space themed collection, No Limits! I really enjoy seeing how far I can stretch a theme and this one worked beautifully for an Easter layout! Due to the bold colors in my sons’ outfits, these photos didn’t tie in terribly well with the typically pastel Easter themed collections, but were perfect for No Limits! I especially wanted pops of the blue and black in the background.

To draw plenty of attention to my photos, I highlighted them with bright yellow pocket page cards that really stand out on the darker background. By cutting them in half, I can stretch the pocket cards to mat my 3×4 photos! In addition, I fussy cut an entire 12×12 and A5 size page of the Nebula patterned paper, so that I could use these stars to scatter along the border of my photos. This detail adds such whimsy and movement to the page!

My favorite part of this layout is the fab word phrases I found in the cut apart sheet and the 6×12 sticker set! Love adding lots of words in addition to my title to capture the excitement of both my photos and my mood while scrapping these fun photos! The little chipboard and puffy stars were just the perfect finishing touches to add a little dimension and fun to the star border too!

I have eyes on you | No limits Layout | Anna Komenda

Hello papermaniacs! It’s Anna here with another layout made with new “No limits” collection. It’s also another page with pet photos. I know it’s becoming boring but nature blessed me with two human daughters and two good beagle boys and those guys need their layouts too, right? This time I made layout with photos of Pirat, who passed almost two years ago. I found those pictures in my photo box and title just pop up to my head. I decided to make it big and bold as a main decorative element of the page. I was on a scrappy weekend away with friends and I didn’t take much of my tools with me, including alpha dies and digital die cutting machine. That’s why I needed to be creative!

I started with picking few solid pattern papers in various colors, including the ones from A5 Paper Stack. 12*12 I used are named “Latitude” and “Spark”. Background of my page is amazing wooden paper called “Big bang”. You can never have too many wooden papers, right? As I mentioned before, I didn’t have any tools to cut letters for my title so I used simple pencils and scissors and sketched my own letters. They are wonky and uneven but they match the whimsy mood of the page. All you need to remember is to sketch letters in mirror reflection if you are doing it on the back of the paper (this way you don’t have to erase the pencil marks). You can also use existing letters as a stencil for more letters of the same kind.

I didn’t have my sewing machine with me so I added false stitching around the letters with white gel pen. It’s a simple and easy way to make elements pop more. The other thing missing on my layout is word “eyes”. I added simple, comic eyes instead. They are lurking at the doggo. Each letter is glued with a layer of foam tape to add dimension to the page.

I scattered some ephemera pieces between the letters, like stars, lightning and banners. I also added some around my two pictures. This is my “go to” move with every page. Photos look more “comfy” surrounded by various elements. I like mixing textures so I also added few wooden buttons and some cardboard stickers. Aren’t they the best element of each collection?

This page is a little bit less decorated than my usual layouts, but it often happens when you scrapbook on the go. You have to use what you packed and be more creative with creating embellishments. However, it’s colorful and has cute puppy photos so I still love it.

You’re Awesome & the best my Sweet boy | No Limits | Josefine vd Hoeven

Hello paperlovers, So happy to see you at the Cocoa Vanilla blog! For today I have new scrapbook inspiration for you. My Challenge for this layout “Create a layout with the chipboard die-cuts and the wooden buttons” This layout came about very easily. But I think the result is very cool. I used the amazing collection “No Limits”. I really can’t get enough of this cool collection. The colors orange and blue are my favorite.

I first started by tracing a circle on a sheet of white cardstock. Then I stitched it with blue sewing thread. In the center of the circle, I stamped a stain with blue oxide ink. The color I used is “faded Jeans” With a cleaning sponge that I first moisten and then pick up some blue ink and then I stamp with the cleaning sponge several times on the white cardstock until the stain is big enough. I dry the oxide ink with the heat tool and then I splash a little with the oxide ink by using my watercolor brush.

When my mixed media background is dry. I look for several chipboard die-cuts that I want to use. I placed the chipboard die-cuts in different places in the circle. I think the design is very cool. When everything is in place I cut the picture of my son into a circle. I also cut a circle out of the design paper and line the edges with a stitch border of blue sewing thread. I stick the photo on top of the blue circle and then I placed both of these on top of the chipboard die-cuts in the center of my layout.

For the title of this layout called “You’re Awesome & the best my Sweet Boy” I use the chipboard alphas set and an alphas set from my own stash. I really enjoy using different alphas sets for my scrapbook titles. It really gives a playful effect which I love.

To make my layout come more alive I splash with white gesso. I mix white gesso with a small amount of water and with a thin brush I make several white splatters on my layout. I also splash some more with the blue Oxide ink “faded Jeans” This way the chipboard die-cuts stand out more. Of course I also want to use some wooden buttons. As an extra decoration.

I’ve said it before but the wooden buttons they are definitely one of my favorite embellishments. They are so cute and fun. I am very happy how this layout turned out. The playful effect from the different chipboard elements and the ink splatters make this a cool boys layout. Easy, simple and with a surprising result.

I hope I was able to inspire you today with this boys layout and I challenge you to also design a layout with the awesome chipboard die-cuts from Cocoa Vanilla! You’re The Best | No Limits Collection | Michelle Stokes

Hello fellow Creatives! It’s Michelle back here today with a new layout to share with you all using the awesome No Limits Collection. A layout that stared off looking a lot different to the way it finished up.

Does anyone else out there start a layout with a clear intention of following along a certain design direction, especially when creating something to follow a specific theme, or use a specific product, only to fall down a completely different rabbit hole? Just me?

Well this crazy crafter was given the task of showing off the wonderful Chipboard Stickers and Woodgrain Buttons from the No Limits collection. I had a specific idea in mind to create something that used a tonne of both embellishments, and next to no pattern paper… But then I got a little side-tracked with what I was watching while crafting and Voila! A pinwheel of sorts made up of a bunch of pattern papers with awesome bright colours and designs and a splattering of embellishments.

I still think it turned out pretty rad, just not the direction I intended to take haha

This sweet little face amongst the tiny plushies absolutely loves when I create layouts for her that aren’t the traditional girly colours and patterns, so this collection No Limits is right up her alley. I framed the photo using the larger chipboard sticker Frame and grouped it with the smaller to act as a frame for the title piece (also a chipboard sticker), ephemera piece and wood button.

The background is made up of a few different layers starting with the base – woodgrain BIG BANG paper, white cardstock that is twisted over the top and adhered flat. Next is the wonky pinwheel, made up of 8 different patterns from the 12×12 papers that are cut down into smaller triangles. I’ve sewn around each and left the threads loose for a little added texture to the layout then adhered each to the layout using pieces of foam for slight dimension.

I used a mix of chipboard pieces to the left hand side as embellishments, words that can often be used to describe this child of mine. I’ve added another wood button to the group also

I used a colour blocking method for the extra embellishments in both the orange and yellow sections of the pinwheel, adding fussy cut stars from both the 12×12 and A5 versions of NEBULA paper

I added the date using a cut apart piece from the A5 version of UNIVERSAL paper and grouped it together with a star and the black ORBIT paper triangle
