Hello friends! It’s Kylie back with you today and I’m SO excited to be sharing my very first project with the brand new ‘Merry & Bright’ collection. This fab new range is perfect for any festive scrapbooking or crafty project you have in mind. For something different, I wanted to create some smaller scale, memory keeping pages in my traveller’s notebook.
I like to add a paper background to the pages of my TN and always make sure I trim them slightly smaller than the page. Not only does this create a lovely paper border but it is practical in the sense that as I fill my TN I wont have trouble with pressure on the spine and pages getting crumpled or coming apart.
For interest, I have layered some papers together to create a border. I’ve used a craft border punch and scalloped edged scissors to give a nice decorative finish to each layered paper. The gingerbread houses from the die cut pack were so cute! I’ve layered several over the top of my paper edge borders to support my image.
For the opposite page I have layered several of the gorgeous Christmas blooms, again from the die cut pack. Whilst each double page ‘blends’ design concept wise, I don’t necessarily create a mirror image design to the opposite page.
For this next double page design. I used the fun spotted side of the ‘Happy Holidays’ paper with a decorative border edge using the ‘Jingle All The Way’ paper. So that my photos are framed, I have backed them with some of the ‘Count Down’ paper.
You can add some journaling to your pages but I have kept it fairly simple and create some short phrases to suit using the sticker sheet.
Did someone say ‘gold metallic fabric stars?’ Umm yes please!! These were perfect for embellishing the photo of my son and I love that they aren’t too thick and bulky for my TN pages.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing my latest memory keeping project and it may inspire you a little to try smaller scale scrapbooking in a TN too!
Hi CVS friends today I am sharing my first layout using the gorgeous new Christmas collection Merry & Bright.
As most of you know I LOVE cut files and what’s better when one is already cut for you with a beautiful water colour mixed media effect! (large die cut and backing kit) All I did before starting my layout is splattering the page with gold paint.
I love the Christmas Krispy Kreme doughnuts and so I have used this photo to Create a fun layout. My photo size is 4×4 inches. Using the 6×8 inch paper pack I used Star Bright and Oh Christmas Tree papers and cut at 4.2 inches. I angled each mat behind the photo but attached the photo straight with foam tape over the right of the tree.
I tucked under my photo the double heart flair buttons and finished off using two die cut tabs from the ephemera pack.
I created a floral cluster on the left side of the tree, using foam tape of some of the florals to add dimension. I tucked a die cut ticket slightly under the larger flower.
Of course I had to add the happy Father Christmas die cut and created a small embellishment cluster in the lower left corner of my layout, again using foam tape on some of the die cut ephemera.
Lastly I added one of the gold puffy hearts to the top of the tree. I had considered adding some machine stitching but to be honest this cut file kit is just perfect the way it is.
Super quick and super easy layout that still looks fabulous!
Thank you for stopping by today and I will see you again soon with an off the page creation all about Christmas.
Hi everyone! Sue Plumb here to share my very first layout using the brand new ‘Merry & Bright’ collection. For this Christmas page, I couldn’t go past documenting one of my kids Santa photos from last year. Each year we try to do something a little out of the ordinary, as it not only makes it easier to get my kids to do it, but it also gives us something fun to look back on. (Not to mention giving Santa a good giggle as well.) Last year we decided to go with a Queen theme, as Bohemian Rhapsody is one of our favourite car sing-along songs.
Here is my layout…
As soon as I opened this collection, I was immediately drawn to the gorgeous wood grain print on the Season’s Greetings paper. (Zoe always has the best wood grains!) I decided to use it as the basis for my page, so I cut it down to measure 10×10″ and then mounted it onto the script pattern of the Oh What Fun paper to add a border.
I really wanted to make the background bit more “me” so I decided to add some mixed media as well. I brushed on some dark grey acrylic paint, then used a loose script stencil (which tied in beautifully with the script print paper) and some gold glaze to add texture.
Now it was time for some papery layers! I used pieces of some of the scaled down prints from the A5 Paper Stack to use as layers under my photo, adding in a dark grey paper doily (to tie in with the paint) and some frayed gauze for texture. I also added some cardboard to the back of my photo to help pop it up from the page.
For my embellishments, I began with the gorgeous floral pattern of the Joy to the World paper because I couldn’t wait to fussy cut those flowers! I cut two large pieces which I tucked in under the bottom left and top right corners of the photo, to create a diagonal flow to help draw the viewer’s eye through the photo. I also added an extra flower from the Die Cut Ephemera pack.
Then it was time for some pretty little bits and pieces. I used three of the Puffy Gold Stars, which I attached using my stapler; and some small pieces of twisted gold wire, which I also stapled to the page.
For my title, I fussy cut the words merry and bright from one of the 3×4″ Pocket Cards and then adhered it below my photo using foam tape to pop it up from the page. I also tucked in the sweet little Santa Flair Button alongside my title.
To finish off, I stamped the date and a few phrases using a roller stamp from my stash; then added a touch more festive sparkle with some splatters of gold mist and a sprinkling of gold sequins.
I’ve already been busy creating more layouts with this collection and I can’t wait to share them with you soon. If you don’t have this collection yet, make sure you contact your favourite retailer to ask if they have it in stock.
Hi everyone, it’s Raquel here and today I am sharing my first layout with you using the new Christmas collection ‘Merry & Bright’. I don’t know if I feel quite ready personally for Christmas or Christmas documenting however I must say that I really loved creating this layout.
The focus of this layout was to document the arrival of our Elves Chippy and Snowflake each year. This time is highly anticipated in my household and spoken about in incidental moments all throughout the year ‘Remember the time Chippy did….’ ‘I love when Snowflake did ….’. I used a photo taken during the first year that Chippy arrived and a cut file from Cut to You store.
Here is the layout that I created:
The cut file stocking was backed using 6×8″ papers from the paper pad. I love that the paper pads come with the same patterns and designs as the 12×12″ sheets but on a much smaller scale. I just adore a diagonal stripe so I had to use that as the feature of the cut file backing. I used the text script paper under the gift tag, but also added an ephemera tag to the top of the stocking to replicate a tag on the stocking too.
To embellish the top of the stocking I used a ‘be jolly’ sticker and one of the gorgeous gold fabric stars.
The title is a sticker ‘the most wonderful time of the year’ and is a small feature off the layout.I used a mixture of foam adhesive on both the photo and the stocking die cut to add extra dimension to the page.
The journaling for this layout was typed on my typewriting and cut into strip form.
I cannot wait to document the 2021 Christmas adventures with the elves and my little family using this absolutely beautiful collection. I hope you have been inspired by todays layout.
Hi Creative friends, Gwen with you on the blog today. For today’s share, I’m working with this sweet picture of Miss C wayyy too excited about Christmas M&M’s. On the blog this week the Design Team have been challenged to mix an older collection with a new one, so I’ve decided to mix the new Christmas collection (Merry & Bright) with Tis the Season. I just love how these two collections came together.
The design for my page is a central one which started with this title cut file by CUT to YOU. I’ve positioned my photo on top taking care to ensure everything is nicely centred.
Then, working with the larger ephemera pieces first, created three embellishment clusters, one in the top left hand corner of the photo, one in the bottom right hand corner of the photo and one centred, at the bottom of the page. I’ve started with the large Santa die-cut element from the ‘Ephemera Pack’ and mixed and matched ephemera pieces from both collections.
Here you can see the die cut piece ’25’ from the ‘Tis the Season collection’, sitting next to the Santa and Holly elements from the ‘Merry & Bright’ collection. I just love how I can use up those leftover pieces of the older collection and give it a fresh new look with the new one.
In the top and bottom clusters, I’ve also added in two of the gold ‘Puffy Stars’ from the ‘Merry & Bright’ collection. These are a great textured piece to add to a layout and are the perfect shade of gold.
You can also see here that I’ve added in a ‘Flair’ from the ‘Flair pack’ as well as some Enamel Dots, these are from the ‘Tis the Season’ collection.
I’ve also made a YouTube process video which you can watch below.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing how this page came together. Be sure to join the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Facebook group to see even more inspiration and ideas for using this collection.
Hello lovelies, sharing my first layout using the merry and Bright collection and as this week we are mixed it up with new and old I use some ephemera, stickers and one of the hearts from day dream..
My photo is of Luna kitty all curled up asleep after attacking the Christmas tree playing with the ornaments .. but seriously what kitty doesn’t have a super fun time with the Christmas tree…lol
I started with a snowflake cut file design from Paige Evans that I cut out on light pink cardstock to match the light pink in the collection then I adhered it in the center of the white cardstock and then matted my photo on paper from the 6×8 and a few little labels from 6×8
Then using the season greetings pattern paper I chose to use tis the season for my title and popped it up with some double sided foam tape at the bottom of my photo
Then I cut 4 border strips 2 from joy to the world that a punched a lace border and one from oh what fun that I trimmed in half that I layered on top of the lace strip and added them to the top and bottom of my layout
Then using joy to the world I fussy cut out a bunch of flowers and started clustering flowers at 2 corners of my photo and the top and bottom of layout I also added a few bits from day dream like our happy place from the ephemera pack , the tag from the accessory stickers and one of the puffy hearts
Then to finish it off I added little fussy cut berries and enamel dots from the legendary collection..
I hope you have enjoyed my inspiration today
don’t forget to pop on over and check out the process video:
Hello Hello, it’s Michelle here today and boy do I have a project share with you all this week. I suggest you sit down with a cuppa and have a read as theres a lot to share in this little post. If you cant tell by the title or sneak peek I’ve started an album to document last years December Memories using the magical new collection – Merry & Bright.
This collection is the perfect mix of Christmas and signature Cocoa Vanilla Studio designs. Full of beautiful colours, patterns and pretty florals which are all perfect for documenting an Aussie Christmas as theres not a snowflake insight. I’ve used the BRAND NEW Pocket Cards for this project as they make creating albums like these so fast. Pick a card and pop it in, pair it with a photo and call it done! You can jazz it up with a little ephemera, cut files, vellum and glitter. Don’t forget there’s also an A5 paper stack, 2 cut apart papers (Count Down & Oh What Fun), and some super cute gold puffy hearts that are all perfect for creating one magical album full of December Memories..
I’ve got half the album to share in this post today so apologies now for the photo overload. I’ll try not to write too much as there’s A LOT to get through
Lets begin…
The Album size I’ve used is 6x8inch and I’ve used a mix of different configurations in pocket pages. I kept the front opening page quite simple using a full A5 sheet in the Star Bright pattern, ‘Christmas’ and ‘Oh what fun’ tags are from the Oh What Fun cut apart paper, holly leaves from the ephemera pack, sticker from the Accessory sticker sheet and the numbers are from an ancient CCV collection.
Flipping over to the first pocket page – I’ve used another full A5 pattern paper Jingle All The Way with a piece of note paper sewn on to document the month ahead, then added some florals from the ephemera pack to the corner of the paper. You will see throughout the pockets of the albums I’ve used the Countdown paper to document most of the days, the numbers all cut down to just over 2inch square. For the right hand side I added the number to a pocket card using my tiny attacher
Heading over to the next page, sharing more of December 1 memories as a couple of things happened that day – our house elf arrived and I went out for dinner with my work colleagues. I created a ‘privacy shaker’ pocket to hide their faces using a flip flap pocket. Inside I’ve added the large floral cluster from the ephemera pack to some vellum and a tonne of glitter then used my sewing machine to stitch the edge closed. The ‘eat drink + be merry sticker is adhered to the outside along with the ephemera tag.
The shaker pocket turned out so cute.
Page 3… Still documenting the rest of December 1st haha How stinkin cute are those little gingerbread houses! Our house Elf Twinkle didn’t seem to get up to too much mischief last year, hoping she’s on her best behaviour if she makes it back into the country this year.
I used another flip flap to add an extra layer of embellishments to this corner of the page. Those gold hearts are so soft and not bulky at all, its hard not to use them all in one go!
Over the page and I’ve used the smaller frame from the ephemera kit to frame a smaller photo and documented a not so fun trip to the doctors. Between these 2 pages I’ve added a vellum insert using the 3 ornament pieces from the ephemera pack
I sewed these to the vellum and added some stickers
Theres a larger frame in the ephemera pack too, I’ve used it on this side to document an early Christmas present I gave to myself and am still yet to use. Whoops.
Some pockets I left plain with just photos and cards. Not everything needs a bunch of words to document, the photo is enough. The other side of the page however needed some words. I used a label from the cut apart paper for one and a journalling card from the pocket cards pack for the other. This pack is FULL of different designs, quote cards, filler design cards and journalling cards. Each card has a design on both sides so every design in the pack can be used once or twice if you need.
December is a big month for everyone, even bigger for those of us who have a birthday to throw into the mix. Leila’s falls in the second week of December and last year we were lucky to be able to throw a party for her and some friends and cousins. So much fun.
I created another flip pocket with the journalling on top and photos underneath
The kids had so much fun. Faces blurred for privacy
Of course the birthday girl and her cake needed a special insert! I love adding inserts to pocket page albums to create a focal interest and break up all the smaller pockets. I created this one using a star cut file from CUT to YOU and adhered the photos back to front, either side of the cut file, and then the entire piece sewn into the pocket page to stop it from moving or falling out
The cute photo on the reverse is from the following day with more cake to celebrate with family at home
On the right side of the page are more photos documenting the family celebration, the day prior to her actual birthday.
Over page and more photos to document our Elf, a couple more filler pocket cards, a label from the cut apart paper Oh What Fun, fussy cut florals from the A5 version of Joy to the World
On the right I used a smaller pocket page made up of 2x2inch squares. I created a couple of mini shaker pockets using ephemera, stickers and a gold puffy heart sewn in using my machine after sprinkling each with glitter. I added a couple of photos of Leila to document her last night of being 8 and filled the rest with pattern papers
Over page again and Its an entire spread dedicated to her actual birthday. Photos of present opening, more pattern paper to fill in the blanks. Photos of our house Elf and the spectacle she set up overnight. We never know what mess we might come out to on Leilas birthday, but theres always a basket full of presents for Leila all Christmas themed. Our elf does this in place of a December 1st basket.
And were onto the last of the pages I’ve created for this album. Our tree finally came out of its box so I could finally use the cute ‘Oh Christmas tree’ card
and one last flip flap pocket just because!
Phew, did you get through that ok? I hope you enjoyed seeing the first half of last years December memories. I like to keep things pretty simple within my pocket pages branching out with a little shaker page or insert to add a little extra fun. Everything within the album is either adhered using a tape runner, tiny attacher or sewing machine to save on bulk as theres a lot more to add so I need to save space as best I can.
Well thats all from me today. Thank you so so SO much for stopping by and reading through all of that! I aim to get this album complete and ready to share in a future post so keep an eye out next month. For now be sure to share with us the Christmas Creations that you’re making. We love to see what you all create. And if you haven’t already RUN to one of the many Scrapbooking Stores that are carrying this collection and buy it all before it sells out ! You won’t regret it.
Welcome back to the Cocoa Vanilla Studio blog! Today I am very excited to be sharing my first design team layout using the AMAZING new Merry & Bright collection! I have documented a fun Christmas photo of my 2 sons from last year. Oh my goodness, seriously this collection is stunning! It is the perfect Christmas collection without being too over the top. The colours and all the elements are so gorgeous!! Even if you are not a fan of Christmas, this collection can be used for any themed project!
I decided to make good use of the 6′ x 8′ paper stack and began backing a holly wreath cut file design from CUT to YOU with the pretty papers in the stack. I tried to have the green for the holly leaves and I added red for the berries. The other florals I added a mixed floral paper and a striped paper. I will admit this did take some time but I feel the end result is worth it. Once the cut file was all backed, I turned it over and added craft foam to the bottom of the cut file.
I chose the Happy Holidays paper as my background paper and adhered the cut file at the top and bottom of the page to create a wreath shape. I then trimmed down the Happy Holidays paper a little smaller and matted it onto the Oh Christmas Tree paper. I like how this brings out the green/teal in the leaves in the cut file. On the top large in the cut file, I added one of the super cute gold puffy stars. See image below.
I matted my photo using some more of the 6′ x 8′ papers and also layered a paper doily underneath. I adhered the photo and mats to the lower centre of the wreath. I then cut the Tis The Season words from the Season’s Greetings paper for my title and adhered it using craft foam to the bottom of the photo.
I added the green Merry Christmas die-cut under the title and one of the beautiful flair buttons to the left of my photo. I also stapled a banner die-cut to the top left of the photo and adhered a heart die cut to the right of the photo. I tucked in some leaf sprig die-cuts into the cut file to enhance the wreath design.
Lastly I stamped the date stamp just below the heart die-cut of when the photo was taken.
Are you getting the new Merry & Bright collection? If you are considering buying it, considerate no more and do it! You will not regret it!!
Thanks so much for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed my layout and that you are inspired to create with Cocoa Vanilla goodies!
Hi Creative friends, Gwen back on the blog today with a new share and today I’m using the brand new ‘Merry & Bright’ collection. I’m working with this sweet picture of Miss C on Christmas morning. The colours in the collection were the perfect match for this photo including the gold of the puffy stars. So fun right?!
For the design of this page, I wanted to keep things pretty clean and simple so decided on a centred design with my photo on the left and a large title on the right. The title is a cut file from CUT to YOU which I have backed with pattern papers from the ‘Paper Stack’. I’ve placed these elements onto the ‘Happy Holidays’ pattern paper and then added a frame using the ‘Jingle All the Way’ pattern paper. I love the sweet candy stripe as a border here.
I’ve mounted my photo with the ‘Oh Christmas Tree’ pattern paper, it’s the sweetest shade of green ever! I’ve also added my signature stitching here for added detail.
With the photo and title elements done, it’s time to have some fun adding the embellishments. The embellishment pack for this collection is full of really fun die cuts. For interest and dimension I’ve raised some of them up on foam tape, its a cheap and effective way to give paper die cuts a more layered feel.
For the page, I’ve created three main embellishment clusters, one in the top right hand corner of the photo, the second along the right hand edge of the photo and the third near the ‘R’ in my title ‘DECEMBER’. The three clusters help draw the eye around the page.
I’ve finished the page off with a flair from the ‘Flair pack’ as well as three of the super cute gold puffy stars. These are so fun for Christmas pages AND as it turns out, the perfect shade of gold to match the tinsel on our tree!
Here’s one more close up of the details including the sweet tree die cuts from the ‘Ephemera Pack’.
Thanks for popping by today, I hope you enjoyed seeing the details of my layout and if you haven’t already be sure to check your local store for this collection, it really is beautiful!
I’ve also created a YouTube process video for this page so if you’d like to see how I put it together, you can watch it below.
